1. Summer Calvin Harris Let’s kick off this playlist by making Calvin Harris’ song, Summer, the number one must have. It is a dance song that will make you do just that. Harris, who is Scottish, was, according to Forbes, the highest paid DJ of 2013. He made a reported 46 million dollars.

10. Summertime DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince Alright now, this truly has to be one of the top three summer songs of ALL TIME. Everything from the words, music, and video exude summer. This song is just fun and pure perfection. Some listen to Summertime year round. If you didn’t know, the track’s vocals are led by The Fresh Prince, aka, Will Smith.

Summer Nights John Travolta The movie Grease and subsequently the song Summer Nights are both American classics. Along with listening to this song you’ve got to watch the movie once, twice, maybe five times at least during the summer. Grease was a huge box office success and at the time was ranked at number 2 on the charts, right behind Jaws. 25. Summer Madness Kool and the Gang One of the greatest Jazz songs, and bands, of all time. The song is slow, instrumentally diverse, and a reminder that the summer is for enjoying each and every moment. This song was also sampled for DJ Jazzy Jeff & Will Smith’s Summertime. cbboise.com

1. One of my kids’ favorite things to do in the summer is make homemade lemonade popsicles. They are fun and easy to do with the kids and are a tasty treat. 2. Our annual week-long, selfguided rafting trip on one of Idaho’s rivers is a family favorite. We started when the kids were

young, but no matter the age, we all love going and being together and taking our dog. No phones, no TV. Incredible wilderness, and all of us working and playing together. 3. Roaring Springs is always fun! 4. A few times a year, we load our bikes with a picnic and ride to Ann Morrison or Julia Davis. We pack everything — blanket, food, drinks. Sometimes, our adult children or friends join us. 5. We love going to Starlight Mountain Theater outside of Garden Valley.

The kids love to do cartwheels and tumbling through the sprinklers. 8. We are fortunate enough to have a back yard pool, and we love watching the kids do cannonballs while the adults hold up scores like Olympic events.

to do. This summer, we’ll take a picture every day of a certain number of items. Day One - one item; Day Two - two of the same item, and so on. It’s kind of like a daily scavenger hunt. 10. Going to one of the local parks that has a water feature and cooling off. 11. We always camp out in the back yard and make s’mores on the grill. 12. Fishing with the kids at Wilson Ponds in Nampa.

The wackiest we heard? Having a BBQ with friends and, after dinner, pairing each youngster with an adult. One partner dons a pair of goggles while the other covers the goggle-wearer’s face with whipped cream (taking care to leave the nose clear). With all teams the same distance apart, Cheeto balls are tossed at the whipped cream. The winning team is the one with the most Cheeto balls stuck in the whipped cream after 30 seconds! 9. We put together a summer bucket list of things we want cbboise.com

13. Hiking in the Foothills. And a picnic lunch is a must.

14. Doing yard work for our older family members and friends. 15. Barbecuing on the patio, followed by s’mores and a rousing game of charades by the firelight. 16. Going to the Parma Motor-Vu Drive In Theater is a great time for everyone. 17. Cheeto-toss. (See blue box!) 18. Going to a different farmers’ market each weekend. We make a list and a plan for each week. 19. Exploring a park we’ve never been to before and keeping a list of our favorite things. 20. Floating the Boise River with a big group of friends.

walls, or decks. If you prefer an in-ground setup, try installing outdoor speakers specifically made to blend in with your landscaping such as rock-shaped speakers. In-ground speakers require a special wire designed to be buried and run underground. You should also follow the National Electric Code, which requires electric wire to be buried at least 18 inches through a rigid nonmetal conduit such as PVC pipe. If you’re using powered equipment to dig, you’ll need to contact Dig Line to inspect the area for other underground wires or pipes. Hire a Professional Another option for installing outdoor speakers is to have a professional do it for you. When shopping around for outdoor speakers, ask retailers for professional recommendations and the cost of labor. Even if you decide to install the speakers on your own, a professional can scope out your outdoor living space and recommend the number of speakers and best placement prior to purchase. After a long winter, soak up the extra hours of sunlight outdoors by grilling on your deck, with music or sports in the background.

June Market Stats

What’s Happening in the Treasure Valley

A

s summer kicks into full gear with its variety of activities and distractions, we typically note a slight seasonal decrease in overall market activity in the Treasure Valley from the busy spring months of April and May. Our stats for June may bear this out in Canyon County, but Ada County’s activity stayed strong.

this time of year. Keep in mind that it normally takes 30-60 days to take a home sale from contract to closing, so these strong closing numbers really show just how active April and May were with homebuyers. Look for the rising inventory to moderate price increases and market times in the coming months.

Remarkably, we saw a strong increase in median sales prices and a sharp decline in average marketing time for homes sold this month in Ada County. This was despite the continuing trend of more homes coming onto the market, which typically happens

In Canyon County, all of the indicators point to a consistent and controlled market. Compared to last year, prices are still up healthily. However, so far this year we’ve seen moderate sales and moderate price increases in the Nampa-Caldwell area. As

long as the inventory continues to remain at current levels, we should continue to see controlled growth in prices – the sign of long-term stability in the housing market. One last bit of positive news is that unemployment locally has now dipped below 5.0%. Our local economy remains promising and should continue to support the rebound in the real estate market that we’ve experienced over the last couple of years. Real estate is most definitely local. Call to find out what all of this means for you in your own neighborhood.
