LIFE AFTER TERROR IN UKRAINE
Their lives would change forever. Galina and her motherās home in Ukraine was attacked by Russian forces. Rockets damaged their apartment, so they took shelter in the basement. As food ran out, they bought stale, moldy bread just to survive.
Finally, Galina and her mother were able to flee to Israel. They rented an apartment with a government grant, but they didnāt have much food. Fortunately, Galina met a volunteer working with CBN Israel. Thanks to
the support of faithful partners, they received groceries, along with a muchneeded stove and washing machine.
āIn our war-torn Ukraine, I could only dream of fresh bread, but now Iām in a peaceful place, and you bring me food,ā said Galina. āIām extremely grateful to you for helping my mother and me.ā

RESCUED FROM A CRUSHING FINANCIAL BURDEN
CBN partners answer the prayer for a military family in need
Staff Sergeant Nick was often called away from his wife and children in Virginia to help protect his country. After 22 years and multiple deployments, he retired from the U.S. Army and became a government contractor. Nick was grateful to provide for his family closer to home. Unfortunately, within a short span of time, the family faced two financial blows.
First, Nick and his wife, Dionne, discovered that a large tree on their property had become a hazard. Then their HVAC system failed. But they trusted God.
And He used caring friends like you to team up with a local ministry and CBNās Helping the Home Front to cover the HVAC replacement and tree-removal costs!
āIām in shock,ā said a grateful Dionne. āThat weight has been lifted.ā
LOVE TRIUMPHS OVER DEATH!
How Jesus overcame everything to obey God, die on the cross, and rise again
by Gordon Robertson
When we read the Gospel accounts of Jesusā Last Supper with His disciples, both Matthew and Mark conclude their narratives by saying: And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives .
The hymn they were singing was Psalm 118 , the last psalm in the Hallelāāthe Great Praiseāāwhich is sung at every Jewish festival.
Although Jesus knew He was facing torture and crucifixion, He sang in verse 6: āThe L ord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me?ā
As I contemplated this, I thought, āWell, man can bind You, falsely accuse You, put You on trial, spit on You, pull out Your beard, crown You with thorns, beat You, mock You, strip You, nail You to a cross, then thrust a spear into Your side. Thatās what man can do to You.ā
And yet Jesus sang, āI will not fear.ā How is this possible?
As the Apostle Paul writes, For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind ( 2 Timothy 1:7 ). The opposite of fear is love! And the Apostle John tells us, āThere is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear. ⦠But he who fears has not been made perfect in loveā ( 1 John 4:18 ).
We need to let go of all fear and
be made perfect in His love.
Of course, there is one good fear, which Jesus describes in Matthew 10:28 : āDo not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.ā
This fear entails a holy awe and reverenceāas we say in the Lordās prayer, āHallowed be Thy name.ā Yet I was struck by how Isaiah 8:13 adds to that hallowing: The L ord of hosts, Him you shall hallow; let Him be your fear, and let Him be your dread.
I wondered what Isaiah meant by ādread,ā and I found the answer in Genesis 31:53 , where Jacob makes a covenant with his father-in-law, Laban. The New King James Version says, Jacob swore by the Fear of his father Isaac. The Hebrew word for fear in this verse is pachad , which is more than just awe.
Commenting on that passage, Jewish rabbis have said that this
The Lord is on my side; I will not fear.
What can man do to me?
~ Psalm 118 : 6
dread is what came upon Isaac when he realized that he was about to be sacrificed.
Genesis 22:7-8 sets the scene: Isaac spoke to Abraham his father and said, ā¦āLook, the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?ā And Abraham said, āMy son, God will provide for Himself the lamb.ā
Abraham was referring to Isaac, and he was also referring prophetically to Jesus. Keep in mind that Isaac was not a little child, but a full-grown man, and Abraham was well over 100! So Isaac didnāt have to obey, yet he submitted himself to be bound as the sacrifice. Why? Because he feared the God of his father. He didnāt resist because obeying God was more important to him than his own life.
So when Jesus sang, āI will not fearā in Psalm 118 , He was trusting in Godās will for His life. He was trusting God to raise Him on the third day, for as He sang in verse 17 of that same psalm, āI shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the L ord .ā
He was trusting Godās plan for our salvation, which Jesus revealed in John 3:16 : āFor God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.ā
Jesus was filled with such love for us that He willingly chose the crossāso we can enter into His marvelous victory over sin and death and enjoy life with Him today here on earth, and forever in heaven.
God bless you!

PROVIDING FOOD AND A Promising Future
Your much-needed help brought aid to a desperate family
In Myanmar, Cherry and her husband work hard to support their family. Cherry makes bricks and washes clothes while her husband works in construction. Even when jobs are available, feeding their five children is a challenge. However, when work is slow or unobtainable, both parents and children suffer. āMy tummy feels so empty,ā Cherryās son explained. āAnd my heart starts to beat fast.ā
But generous CBN partners helped halt the hunger. Through an after-school program supported by CBNās Orphanās Promise, the children now have access to healthy meals. Cherryās family also receives food packs.
Because of your faithful partnership, CBN helped Cherry earn additional income by providing what she needed to sell vegetablesāincluding a bicycle to transport the produce. This increases her flexibility so she can spend time with her children.

YOUR QUESTIONS, HONEST ANSWERS
WITH PAT ROBERTSONHow do you put your worries and stress in the Lordās hands?
QAYou simply make the decision to do it. How do you get rid of anything? You put the burden down.
Stop and think about what it is youāre carrying. Then say to the Lord, āIām carrying this, and Iām worried about it.ā
And you go on to the next one and say, āIām worried about this too,ā and so on.
Then you say, āIn the name of Jesus, I renounce these things, and I put them aside.ā
You have to do it consciously. Youāre a free moral agent. Youāre not just a victim of chance that goes through life. You can make decisions. Make a decision to put these things aside.
Youāve probably been taking on a lot of burdens that you do not need, so get rid of them. Say to the Lord that youāre going to give all of it to Him.

From Trials to Triumph
Dr. Carolyn Bailey Lewis, an accomplished journalist, never imagined living in a nursing home. Yet, after a spinal cord tumor left her paralyzed, thatās exactly where she found herself.
āIāve been in six nursing homes and seven hospitals in over 26 years,ā she told Healthy Living host Lorie Johnson, adding that she still receives care for therapeutic reasons. āI never asked Him why. I just asked, āLord, what ?āā
And that still small voice of His answered. āI heard clearly, āYouāre a journalist. Write the story. ⦠Youāre an insider. Tell the story of what you know from an insiderās point of view, a lucid insiderās point of view about nursing home care, to help other people.āā
And that encounter with God is what propelled Dr. Lewis to write Love and
Loss: The Storied Nature of Nursing Home Care . āThrough my pain and postponement ⦠came purpose.ā
She emphasizes that advocacy and volunteering are crucial to those in nursing homes. āGo volunteer. Someone needs you. They need to talk to you. They need for you read to them. Play music. Music is such a healing part of therapy for people ⦠especially with dementia. ⦠Call Bingo numbers, or whatever you can do, but itās important.ā She points out that many people never visit their loved ones, explaining: āI think itās because people see their own mortality.ā
So, be the person who will visitāwho, in spite of any fear or uncomfortableness, will enter the lives of those in nursing homes with the everlasting love and light of Christ Himself.
HOW CBN ANIMATION PARTNERS ARE MAKING AN
Eternal Difference
It was a terrifying day for 14-year-old Ju Ju. Two men had grabbed her and a friend while they were walking home. āI thought they would sell us to sex traffickers,ā said Ju Ju. Ju Ju had seen an episode of CBNās animated series Superbook about the prophet Daniel at an after-school program near her home in Myanmar. So, Ju Ju began to pray like Daniel. āIn the Superbook story, God protected Daniel in the lionsā den. I prayed, āGod, protect me. I donāt want to die.ā I did not stop praying,ā Ju Ju recalled.
Amazingly, the men decided to let them go. When Ju Ju, who had been raised as a Buddhist, returned to the after-school program, she prayed to receive Jesus as her Savior. And, as we often receive in reports, the change in her spread to the rest of her family. Her mother now prays to Jesus, and her siblings watch Superbook in Sunday school.
Ju Ju is just one of many transformed by Superbook. Last year, a projected 296 million viewers recalled having sung āThe Salvation Poemā that concludes each episode. The Superbook outreach programs have exceeded all expectations for world evangelism as God blessed the work in ways we never imagined. Here are just a few recent highlights:
Ā» The Superbook Academy website launched in Portugal, offering lesson plans in European Portuguese to schools and churches.
Ā» In Indonesia, CBN is broadcasting Superbook and providing churches with Superbook Sunday school materials.
Ā» In Cambodia, there are 265 active Superbook church partners. More than 7,600 kids are seeing Superbook in Sunday school, and 975 kids and counting have professed faith in Jesus.
Ā» In August 2022, the Spanish-language Superlibro YouTube channel reached 1 million subscribers, providing children 6ā12 years old with evangelistic content, discipleship, and biblical teaching.
Ā» Recently, CBN Animationās Superbook started airing Gizmoās Daily Bible Byte on YouTube in Ukrainian and Russian.
With the extraordinary success of Superbook, CBN is committed to expanding this outreach with additional translations. Thanks to the support of CBN Animation partners, we hope to reach our goal of making Superbook free for the children of the world.1Brown, Fraser & Associates, a research company founded by Regent University professor Dr. William Brown and by Dr. Benson Fraser, carried out a study of CBNās international viewership in 2022.
