ND WELCOME TO THE WINTER EDITION OF OUR NEWLY DIGITAL REACH MAGAZINE! We are delighted that you have found us and that you – hopefully – have a nice hot drink, a comfy seat and are ready to enjoy all of the updates and highlights from 2023.

It has been a phenomenal year of growth and impact for CBN Europe and we cannot believe the generosity that you – our readers, supporters and partners – have shown to those who are in desperate need of help and support.

There have been global natural disasters, national crisis and personal devastation this year and you have risen to the task of helping those who are reaching out for hope.

This Christmas we are focusing our energies on creating a HOLIDAY OF HOPE for all that we come into contact with.

Through our Christmas Campaign (more on that on page 16) and various other initiatives across Orphan’s Promise, Operation Blessing and Superbook, we want to ensure that this truly is a season of blessing, not just for those who have, but also for

Turn to page 8 to learn all about our incredible Something to Eat Every Day project happening in Ukraine. The SEED Project is a scheme whereby we aim to give struggling individuals the tools and resources to grow and harvest their own food, creating a sustainable form of support for all involved.

On page 14 you will find a highlight article dedicated to our Operation Blessing project in Victory Church, Cwmbran. The cost-of-living crisis has hit many of us very hard and gathering a simple weekly shop has become near impossible for many households.

Read on and watch as Beth interviews Clyde, the project lead, on how The Grocery Shop is giving hope to many people in their local community – enabling them to do a small shop at a reasonable price.

There is so much more packed into this Winter edition of the REACH magazine, we hope that you enjoy it and are inspired and encouraged by all the work that is going on in the UK, Europe and beyond.

S.E.E.D Project

A FULL-SCALE WAR HAS BEEN RAGING IN UKRAINE. SURVIVAL HAS NOW BECOME THE PRIMARY CONCERN OF EVERY UKRAINIAN. PEOPLE HAVE TO NOT ONLY THINK ABOUT STAYING SAFE, BUT ALSO, THEY NEED TO OVERCOME AN EVER-INCREASING CHALLENGE, HUNGER. Because of the war, there is a serious economic crisis and high inflation in Ukraine, with ordinary people struggling to provide food for their families. As a result, many people rely on their private gardens where they can grow their own produce, but in order to harvest crops, there has to be seeds to plant.

Unfortunately, the majority of Ukrainians simply cannot buy the seeds. Many have lost everything. In such incredibly difficult conditions, people desperately need help.

In response to this, Orphan’s Promise immediately got to work. With the support of partners and volunteers, dozens of communities received potatoes to plant and high-quality seeds of various vegetables, as a part of the SEED project, Something to Eat

Every day, which has been helping Ukrainian families in need for the past 14 years.

THIS IS AN INCREDIBLE BLESSING FOR ALL THE PEOPLE WE SERVE. At Orphan’s Promise we are not only concerned with meeting physical needs but are stepping in to help answer some wider questions.

Questions of housing conditions, trauma care, dealing with hopelessness and despair and the decent into cycles of poverty.

Over the years, we have seen our SEED project help to answer these questions in a powerful way.

Tetyana is one such individual whose life has been impacted for the better by the S.E.E.D. project in Ukraine...

ORPHAN’S PROMISE | 9 Tetyana’s life has never been easy growing up with an alcoholic mother, her marriage falling apart and having to raise four small children alone. Life just started improving as Tatyana found faith in God, when a full-scale war started in Ukraine, forcing her to flee with her children from the shelling of her hometown in eastern Ukraine. The family eventually found shelter in an old, dilapidated house in a relatively peaceful region of western Ukraine.

Tetyana shares, “When I saw the land here...I understood that it will feed us, it will help us to get through this difficult period of life.”

But Tetyana realised that she had nothing to sow in the garden, since the war had robbed her not only of safety and security, but also of all the means of support. “We didn’t even have the ability to buy a small bag of seeds. Even the smallest one. Because our situation was really critical,” adds Tetyana.

But God had a plan to meet Tetyana’s needs. Through Orphan’s Promise volunteers and the support from our partners around the world, we were able to provide the family with quality seeds to plant. We were also able to give ongoing moral and spiritual support for Tetyana, as well as holistic development opportunities for her children through an Orphan’s Promise School of Life at a local church.

That was the day that changed

Te tyana’ S tory s everything for Tatyana. She no longer felt alone in this world anymore. The caring family support came into her life.

She got a glimpse of hope watching her kids childhood returned, as they got back to doing what children are meant to do: learning, developing and growing.

Tetyana comments, “I really, really want to thank people… for your support. It brought a new life and a new vision to our family. This is a really big truth, and I thank you for that very, very much!”

Today, despite the fact that Ukraine is still fighting for its freedom, Tetyana is filled with hope. She is able to feed her children, watch them grow and play and continues to pray for a happy and safe future for her country.

BIG CHURCH FESTIVAL 2023

T

Superbook in the Kids Tent

his year Superbook hit the road with a van full of gear and cars filled with tents and set up our lodgings for a few nights at the Big Church Festival. The team were excited and anticipated an eventful weekend as we gathered together with over 35,000 to spread the good works that are going on within Superbook Europe. We had the amazing opportunity of hosting the Childrens Tent providing daily Big Shows with episodes from Superbook and the appearance of Gizmo and the trusty dancing fruits, as well as children’s activities. We made some amazing connections with children, families and churches from all over the country as we shared our vision of reaching every child everywhere with the gospel in their own language.

Gizmo took to the Big Stage where we spoke further around what God has been doing in Superbook UK and CBN Europe inviting people to join us on the mission.

First Christmas BUNDLE

The First Christmas Bundle is a treasure trove of all things Superbook Christmas, offering more than just a seasonal greeting.

Filled with crafts, activities, and family discussion guides, it also included the episode, “The First Christmas,” bringing the biblical narrative to life, as we explore the birth of Jesus with Chris, Joy and Gizmo. This comprehensive bundle serves as a catalyst for families to come together, learn, and celebrate the true meaning of Christmas in a more interactive and creative way. For some, this may have even been their first exposure to Superbook and Jesus.

BRITISH SIGN LANGUAGE OF THE FIRST CHRISTMAS EPISODE RECORDED

e believe that every child, everywhere should experience Superbook and hear the Gospel in their own language. So, we embarked on a very exciting journey to get our episode ‘The First Christmas’ signed in British Sign Language. This will enable us to expand the accessibility of Superbook into the deaf and hard-of-hearing community. This has been a very rewarding project to work on as we ensure that the message of hope and joy can be shared with an even broader audience.

With him he brings his very own CBN Europe entrourage – the CBNE Superbook team! Together, we dance to the salvation poem, share vision from the Superbook mission and watch a full Superbook episode.

LOOKING AHEAD TO 2024

uperbook’s overarching vision is to bring the Gospel to every child, everywhere in their own language. We aim to do this by making Superbook accessible to all - both in their churches, through Superbook Academy and at home through our award-winning animated Superbook series.

Superbook Academy is a fully resourced Sunday school curriculum bringing the Bible to life. Children will experience prayer, Bible study on their level and activities that help them experience Jesus for themselves. Each episode has 3 separate lesson plans that unpack the key themes and lessons for your child, helping them to develop their own personal faith in Jesus. In 2024 we want to partner with even more churches in the UK and Ireland. You can sign up for a free lesson at superbook.uk.

We have seen over 5000 salvations through our Superbook Bible app this year and we are believing for triple that amount in 2024. The App features series 14 (and 5 if you’re a Superbook partner!) of Superbook, Bible games, devotions, gospel presentations and access to a complete interactive Bible experience.

It also has parental lock features to make sure your child see’s what age is appropriate for them. You can download the app today at superbook.uk.

We also want to translate all of Season 1 of Superbook into British Sign Language and start to create Superbook comic books into braille. And finally, we have seen over 15500 subscribers to our Superbook UK YouTube channel since we launched it in May this year. We are excited to grow this channel in 2024 and introduce new animated content for parents and toddlers to watch and learn.

THE VICTORY GROCERY STORE More Than a Grocery Store

T

he Victory Grocery Store opened its doors on July 4th, 2022 with the vision to reach every household in Cwmbran, South Wales, with quality food at low costs - as little as £4. The goal of the Grocery Store is to alleviate hunger as the rising of cost of living has put families at a crossroads, pushing them to make decisions between feeding themselves, heating their homes or paying bills. Now, in its second year of operation, we look at three highlights from the last 18 months.

GROWING PAINS The Grocery Store had a target to reach around 1000 families in the first year. What seemed to be an audacious goal soon become unexpected growth for the store. Within the first 8 months this target had been surpassed and suddenly the store was grappling with the ensuing challenge of meeting a higher demand than they could supply. The outcome was great

but how does a brand-new grocery store meet this growing demand?

The store management reached out to more suppliers and vendors and has steadily grown its base of suppliers, some giving donations in cash or in kind and, most importantly, relationships with suppliers for local produce was forged. Furthermore, in facing the huge procurement costs, the £4-Shop changed to the £5 shop.

THE GROCERY STORE | 15 to keep up with the growing number of customers who are testament to the important role the Grocery Store has in helping families feed themselves.

TRAINING GROUND FOR VOLUNTEERS A feature that cannot be missed when one enters the Grocery Store are the kind and attentive team of volunteers who welcome and help the customers have a pleasant experience when shopping. This committed and diligent team of volunteers are a great support system to the Store Manager, Matt Taylor. Together, they run the store six days a week and have helped many families who have sometimes come into the store distressed and left the store grateful and with a renewed sense of hope that someone cares.

Matt shared in July one highlight and said, “My team are all amazing. They are looking after the shop and our customers so well. I’m very proud of them and they are my highlight of the week.” These volunteers are the unsung heroes of the Grocery Store.

While the focus of the volunteers is to help Matt and the customers, the impact of their work doesn’t go unnoticed. This year a couple of volunteers have been able to move on to corporate jobs. In addition, a collaboration with the local ITEC college this June and July saw 5 students intern at the store and later join the work force. This was an exciting venture as the Grocery Store provided a training ground for young and ambitious adults. It is indeed a place

where skills are honed, experience is gained, and career opportunities are opened up. Matt adds, “It’s been great having them on board. I feel it is a real privilege to help get young people the experience they need to get into the world of work. One of the students successfully passed an interview and got a new job. Another young person off to the world of work.”

A STRONG COMMUNITY PARTNER One other highlight is the increasing cooperation between the Social Services, Victory Church and the Grocery Store. The Social Services has been reaching out to the both the Church and Grocery store requesting support for families in terms of food and clothing. What an exciting development!

Because of you, millions will experience their first Christmas as a child of God! Once lost and without hope, today, they rejoice and praise our heavenly Father.

That is because you cared enough to support our mission to make Jesus known in the UK, Europe and beyond through our family of ministries: Operation Blessing, Orphan’s Promise and Superbook. Thank you for your faithful prayers and support as you made it possible for us to show the heart of God within Ukraine, Turkey, Morocco, and Israel, as well as across the region and globally. Your support has enabled us to minister to many people in challenging circumstances on our Hope Line, and thanks to you, we celebrate that 146 people have committed their lives to Jesus through our phone conversations this year.

Real Stories, Real Transformation THIS YEAR AT CBN EUROPE WE HAVE EMBARKED UPON A NEW ADVENTURE. THE DESTINATION BEING TO GLORIFY GOD THROUGH PERSONAL STORIES OF HIS FAITHFULNESS. ‘AND THEY OVERCAME HIM

BY THE BLOOD OF THE LAMB, AND BY THE WORD OF THEIR TESTIMONY’ (REVELATION 12:11).

ITestify plays a crucial role in realising our vision of witnessing one million individuals embracing a saving faith in Jesus. It consists of a series of testimonies where different individuals candidly share their transformative stories. These narratives feature real people who have confronted daunting challenges, ranging from addiction and abuse to rejection and identity struggles. Each story serves as a testament to the power and glory of a God capable of liberating and restoring us to a right relationship with Him. Since the launch of the iTestify website on October 27th, 2023, we’ve observed

plenty of traffic, but we are trusting God for even more. Plans are underway to release additional content in the new year, allowing individuals to embark on a discipleship journey. After watching the video, viewers can explore options guiding them to relevant assistance and resources, whether they are on the verge of salvation or still grappling with questions.

Each story is shared fortnightly on social media, and we encourage you to distribute them widely, providing more people with access to the content and, ultimately, guiding them toward salvation.

Dear CBN Family, AS 2023 DRAWS TO A CLOSE, I WANTED TO GIVE A SPECIAL THANKS TO ALL OUR PARTNERS FOR YOUR PRAYERS, YOUR SUPPORT AND FOR BEING PART OF OUR CBN FAMILY. Let me share a few highlights of how you have made a difference in the lives of thousands of people here in the UK, across Europe and around the world though your partnership with CBN...

• Our prayer centres in the UK and in Germany have ministered to thousands of callers this year, bringing hope and life transformation.

In the UK alone, more than 50 people have accepted Jesus as their Saviour and more than 100 people have recommitted their lives to the Lord!

• Thanks to donors in the UK, Europe and around the world we were able to raise more than 10 million USD to

help Ukrainian refugees since the start of the war – providing food and hygiene products to families in need.

This year we continued this much needed outreach, bringing in trucks of supplies into our warehouses in Sambir and Lviv.

• We established the CBN TV recording studio in Hereford from where our team produces weekly content to share the Good News of Jesus for TV and online distribution.

• This summer, during Pentecost weekend, our CBN team camped out at Big Church Festival in South England, where - for the second year - we ministered to thousands of children and parents in the Superbook Kids Tent. The Superbook Big Show was hugely popular, and it was amazing to see the children engage with the programme about Superheroes with a focus on the Holy Spirit.

• This month, December, we opened a soup kitchen in Portimao, Portugal,

• In Wales, Superbook continues to impact children in more than 20 primary schools through weekly R.E. classes.

• Thanks to your partnership we are able to bless nearly 1000 families through the Operation Blessing grocery store in Wales, in partnership with the local church.

Struggling families now have access to affordable food, bringing health and joy to many homes.

• This year, our Reach Magazine has gone digital! Better than ever before, Reach Magazine now has clickable links to more content on our websites and social media, and features videos like this one, to share about the impact of your support. We also launched our new quarterly postal newsletter, to serve our partners who prefer to receive updates by post.

• Fundraising-wise, we have had a very blessed year, where many of you gave towards critical outreach to help victims of the Turkey and Morocco earthquakes to help Ukrainian refugees and more recently to help terror victims in Israel. The support

• As a result, the general fund giving has decreased, which has been and still is quite challenging. As a ministry, CBN Europe is fully depending on the support from donors like yourselves and are responsible to raise our own budget. We have made tremendous steps forward in our media, humanitarian and Superbook ministry efforts. However, we need your ongoing support to reach our goals – such as creating more resources for the Deaf community, grow CBN’s prayer ministries across the region and help us with the increased cost of wages and the tools we need to share the Gospel effectively.

PRAYER IMPACT THIS YEAR HAS PROVED TO BE A TESTAMENT TO THE FAITHFULNESS OF GOD WITHIN THE HOPE TEAM AS WE HAVE TRANSITIONED THROUGH MANY CHANGES OVER THE LAST 12 MONTHS. THE GRACE OF GOD HAS INDEED SHOWN ITSELF TO BE NOTHING SHORT OF AMAZING THROUGH RECENT MONTHS. For starters, we are finishing the year with a whole new team, for which we give God all the glory for sending the right people at the right time to reach out to the hurting, lonely, and anyone in need. Although we have downsized as a team due to a need to raise more funds, the impact we still have, by the grace of God has remained as miraculous as ever.

It remains our privilege to stand alongside anyone and everyone in prayer and over this last year, reaching out to 28,600 people to offer Hope and encouragement through our inbound and outbound call ministry.

Through all of the turbulence and transition of change amongst our team, the grace of God has abounded in every space enabling us to keep on keeping on in our mission to ‘Make Jesus known to everyone in the UK, Europe, and beyond.’ Our God and our wonderful partners have remained steadfast and consistent in every twist and turn both inside and outside of the ministry throughout the year as crises recurred in many nations, to which the Hope team was able to invite countless callers to make a difference in these times of need.

PRAYER IMPACT | 25 people that have reached in via the Prayer line through this last year, leading 45 lost souls through to salvation and another 102 prodigals home to the Father heart of God in our Hope Line conversations.

The Hope Line remains as much of a lifeline as it ever was and we as a team are extremely grateful every single day for the opportunity to stand alongside others in any and every need.
