Psalm 133:1-3 KJV Dear friends, Welcome to latest edition of our Reach Magazine! This publication is made available freely to all our CBN partners and friends to inspire, encourage, lift your faith and inform you about the impact of CBN’s ministry in Europe and beyond.

The Lord put the theme ‘United We Build’ on our hearts as we prepared for this latest edition. As a CBN team we have been looking closely at the book of Nehemiah, where the Lord put a burden on Nehemiah’s heart to see the city of Jerusalem rebuilt for the glory of the Lord.

As we discovered more and started to put into practice the lessons we learned from the book of Nehemiah, the Lord has opened up more doors for us to share the Gospel! He is preparing us for an increase in harvest – as He is preparing the nations for His coming.

You and I are part of His plan to reach this world with the Good News of eternal salvation!

As we build God’s Kingdom together in unity, He opens doors for the Gospel that are unprecedented! In Poland, children are watching CBN’s animated Bible series daily on national TV. This summer, Superbook will be aired to children in France on one of the largest, most popular channels! Across Europe we see an increase in opportunities to share the Gospel through CBN’s humanitarian projects and Christian media broadcasts.

The Ultimate Importance of Unity Gordon Robertson, CBN CEO Unity is Powerful.

The first prayer of unity is found in Genesis 1:26, when God said, “Let Us make man in Our image.” God the Father, the Word, and the Spirit were all present in creation with unified purpose.

Unity is powerful. Jesus promises in Matthew 18:19: “If two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven.”

There is no bigger blank check than that - “concerning anything.” And He assures us in the very next verse: “For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.”

Gathering together in the name of Jesus means His presence is with us. If we come into agreement touching anything, it will be done.

In the early days of CBN, we prayed every day for our most basic needs. If it weren’t for God, we wouldn’t get the bulbs for the studio lights. We literally prayed them in. We prayed in every camera, every piece of equipment, and every payroll. There wasn’t anything more important to do. And frankly, there wasn’t anything else we could do, because it was all far beyond our power.

“The 700 Club” started because my father prayed that 700 people would give $10 a month so CBN could stay on the air. And asking for 700 people was an act of faith, because our TV signal didn’t reach past Portsmouth, Virginia. The Bible says not to despise the day of small beginnings, and that’s how we began.

The ultimate importance of unity is that God comes into our midst. Acts 2:1 says: “When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.” The outpouring of the Holy Spirit was fulfilling Psalm 133: “Behold, PAGE 04

how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! ...

For there the Lord commanded the blessing—life forevermore.”

To have the power of unity, we must walk in forgiveness and love. Jesus tells us we must get rid of the log in our own eye before trying to remove the speck in someone else’s (Matthew 7:3-5).

When His love flows through us and we have fellowship with the Holy Spirit, it is evidenced in the love that we express to other people. And in that, we can have unity and achieve what the Lord has assigned us to do. God bless you.

Unity When I was a child, I used to play the violin in the County youth orchestra. Most Saturdays, we would meet and practise together.

On each occasion, the orchestra would be seated in their sections and time and effort was given to play the music under the watchful eye of the conductor.

Whilst each musical section practised their parts, we all waited patiently. When the conductor was satisfied, he would raise his baton, and everyone would play their instrument as directed. It wasn’t until every section of the orchestra was in unity did the piece of music come to life as was planned by the composer.

There is something about unity that brings strength. When anyone or anything is brought together in harmony and unity, more is achieved.

In John 17, Jesus prayed a powerful prayer, first for the disciples and then the believers.

Verses 20 –23 say this: “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who

will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.

I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one, I in them and you in me, so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.”

The heart of God is that believers would be one and come together in unity, then the world would believe that they are loved.

In Acts 2, when the believers were together in one place - in agreement - the Holy Spirit was made manifest. There is a blessing that God commands when believers live and dwell in unity.

Let us determine to lay aside our differences and our opinions and choose to walk in unity. We may not agree on everything but let us align ourselves with the prayer of Jesus, “that they may be one.”

Prayer Changes Everything Here at CBN UK we are privileged to hear many stories of how God has moved in people’s lives.

Through the work of our prayer centre we can remember all that God has done for our callers and celebrate with them. Here are just a few testimonies of God at work in our callers’ lives.

Lorraine called in, completely broken, as she had lost her job due to an injury.

Christine called recently to give her testimony of answered prayer. She was having problems at work and had a meeting with her new boss coming up.

Caroline rang in to say that she put on The 700 club one morning and Gordon was describing exactly the same symptoms that she had been struggling with.

She was overjoyed to find out that her new boss is a born again christian! He really listened to her and asked her about her availability and the hours that she was able to work.

She had been in A&E four times this year and has had many tests done.

She injured her knee so, after praying for comfort and provision, we prayed for her knee.

At the end of the prayer we asked how it was. Earlier on she was in much pain and couldn’t even get out of bed.

When we finished, she was walking, and the pain had left!

Christine is overjoyed and very grateful for all our prayers. God is so faithful.

She felt the power of God touch her and she is healed and overjoyed!

Robert called recently and recommitted his life to Jesus! He said he had been confused by different religions - Buddhism, Islam and Christianity - we were able to provide some clarity for him and then led him in a recommitment prayer!

They don’t remember putting it there and give God all the glory as, had they not needed to look for their license, they would never have found the money!

Lynne had been struggling with extreme back and neck pain for some time. She was watching The 700 Club one day and, whilst watching, was completely healed!

They were looking for their driving licence and, in the envelope where their driving licence was kept, found ÂŁ300!

Our team shared scripture with her, prayed with her and then asked her if she had seen any improvement since we had been praying for the situation.

She shared that God has used our prayers to help her so much!

She has even been able to work and has not had any time off sick for 12 weeks.

He is able!

Hi Ina, it’s great to meet you!

Tell us, how long have you been with CBN and what is your role within the ministry?

Hi! I joined CBN in 2017 and I am currently overseeing our humanitarian projects in Europe. With our international project managers, I’m making sure that through our programs we give the best and most sustainable aid to people in need. We’re also collecting the amazing testimonies of how people’s lives are changed so that we can share them with our generous donors who play a very big role in our work.

My heart burns for justice, for the poor and for the hurting.

I love that together we are able to do this life changing work and bring new hope and perspective to people. By doing this we can be the hands and feet of Jesus, speaking his voice of love to the poor.

What exciting projects are you currently working on?

We have great projects happening, for example, in Spain, Germany, Serbia and Bulgaria. We also support a medical outreach team in Albania that helps very poor

GLOBAL IMPACT Roma communities in offering basic medical treatment.

Children and elderly members of the community especially suffer severely from diseases than can easily be cured.

However, the families have no means to buy medicine. With every visit we also provide food for the families.

In Romania we support a transitional housing project that hosts teenage girls who graduate from orphanages because they become “too old” and also girls who were rescued from human trafficking. They live in a loving family environment and will be supported and equipped to live an independent and fulfilling life. Each and every project is quite unique, and we help in many different ways like providing food, water and housing, as well as medical, psychological and spiritual care.

Is there a stand-out story or testimony that you could share with us?

One of our projects that I really love is our prison ministry in Croatia. The team we work with meet with prisoners, their families and ex-prisoners to support postpenal reintegration through counselling and workshops.

It’s incredible to hear that the

official authorities also allow bible studies to take place with all the prisoners who are interested. A few of the prisoners have given their lives to Christ - such wonderful testimonies of God’s grace and power!

What impact is CBN having by way of Humanitarian efforts in Europe?

It’s so easy to forget that, even right in front of our doorstep in Europe, people do not have food, clothes or a safe home. Entire communities are dysfunctional and cannot break the cycles of poverty and hopelessness by themselves.

The history of our countries in Europe are marked by different conflicts which are still infiltrated in its societies and political structures, for example in the Balkans.

Europe needs help and it needs the Gospel that gives hope and reconciliation. We believe that with God’s help we can listen to the ones not heard and, together with our CBN partners, bless them because we are so richly blessed.

Unstoppable!

Often, when a new move of the Holy Spirit happens in the Church, it is easy for the people of God to become divided. Some of us may find no struggle in embracing any new expression of the Spirit, whilst others of us may find ourselves a little more reluctant to take a hold of it.

Such struggles play a part in the many reasons why one Church has now become many denominations. We all make choices, judgements and decisions to either accept new movements and vision or to cling to the familiar traditions and cultures we have become accustomed to.

It is often these kinds of choices, judgements and decisions in the body of Christ that can lead to division, finger pointing or ‘hole-picking’ within each other’s expressions of Church. If these are not stewarded well through the graces of God, the

FEATURED outworking of them can be damaging and devastating.

I believe that this is not the way God intended His Church to operate and relate to one another.

The Christian faith is founded and rooted in the belief that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was born into this earth and lived amongst us for 33 years before experiencing a brutal death on a cross.

In suffering this kind of death, He took the sin of the world upon Himself – once and for all – so that we, His children, do not have to bear the consequences of our own individual sin.

Christians believe that Jesus rose to life again on the third day, having defeated death and sin, and now sits at the right hand of the Father in all glory and authority. Those who confess faith in Jesus and believe in their hearts that

He is who He says He is will be saved.

Jesus.

The name that all Christians have in common.

Surely, as the Church, we can set aside our differences and agree that the one thing that binds us together is Jesus?

When I look at the account of the tower of Babel in the book of Genesis, I am so encouraged by what I read.

‘Now the whole world had one language and a common speech.’

Genesis 11:1 NIV One language! Common speech! This paints the picture of a people group who speak to each other, cooperate with one another, listen to each other and work together to achieve a common goal.

FEATURED The Lord said, “If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them.” Genesis 11:6 NIV Read that again.

Nothing we plan to do will be impossible for us!

If God Himself credited humankind with the ability to achieve anything they plan to do – if they operate as one people – then surely, this is ample motivation to fight for unity to ensure that we accomplish all of the miraculous works that God has set before us?

Jesus also said that we, His followers, will do even greater things than He did (see John 14:12).

I firmly believe that unity is the key that will unlock the ‘greater things’ that Jesus spoke of. When God sees His people operating as one body and one Church, I imagine that this brings joy to His heart. Division and separation are not the state that we are made to live in.

I recently learned that the local Churches in a particular county in the UK make a point of regularly meeting together to pray for the people of that area. They own the ground that they have been given, together, and choose to fight as one unit for one common goal – the salvation of their county.

This inspired me massively and challenged the way I think about other Churches in my own county. I began to PAGE 14

imagine the kind of impact we could have if we linked arms and chose to focus on the thing we have in common rather than the details we don’t.

My challenge to all of us who call ourselves followers of Jesus Christ, is to intentionally look for opportunities to build community with Christians who don’t look like us, talk like us or even attend the same Church as us.

I believe that, as we do, we will begin to bridge the divide between denominations and congregations and attract the blessing of our Father in Heaven.

Father, Thank you for making us all unique.

Thank you for gifting your Church body with a wide variety of gifts and abilities. Help us to see beyond our differences and cling to the one thing we have in common – You. Each time we have the opportunity to look beyond our comfortable spheres of influence and build community with others, I pray that we grab those moments with both hands.

Thank you for setting the perfect example for us as You – Father, Son and Holy Spirit - live in perfect community and unity with each other.

We love you Lord, help us to be the Church that you want us to be.

Winter & Neil CBN Partners

Recently, we had the privilege of meeting with and filming a testimony of CBN’s monthly partners Neil and Winter Johnston.

During our visit, we asked them some questions...

What first connected you with CBN? Our youngest daughter Bronte was born with a little cleft lip, and it was a big shock to us, no one in the family had had that before. The doctors asked us is this an inherited thing and we said no, they document everything, and it was a big shock for us. I tried to hide her when she was a baby, I tried, which I regret now. Bronte had her operation when she was ten weeks old and we prayed over her; we prayed continuously and confessed over her that she would be a beautiful baby.

Today, Bronte is very beautiful, and PAGE 16

you can barely see anything. For us, it’s very moving to know that you have doctors who give up their time and give up any fee and they go out there, and they fix children’s faces. They get their life back and that it changes their lives completely.

Here in the west we have the NHS and have lots to be thankful for, but there are countries where this is a terrible problem, where they’re desperate.

I’ve seen on CBN, Mothers who are crying every day about their child and wondering how that child is going to live.

Why did you decide to start giving to CBN? Our hearts were moved having seen our daughter in a similar situation.

When you see the pictures of innocent children on CBN - we felt compelled

CBN PARTNERS to give. When we give to CBN, we’re giving to the Gospel as well and making a significant difference in people’s lives because of Jesus, and they know who to say thank you to.

What have you learned about giving since you decided to partner with CBN and other ministries?

When we began to understand and apply Biblical truths about giving it changed our lives. We went from basically having insufficiency where we couldn’t pay the bills. I remember sitting on the stairs with my youngest baby crying about how we were going to pay the bills. However, we decided to seek God. We began to take communion in the mornings together, and we still do that now, we pray over our lives, and we look up scriptures and declare God’s promises about giving.

As we began to do this, God started to show us how to get out of debt, and he told us what to do. God doesn’t rain down money from heaven, He tells you what to do. For everybody that looks different, However, for us, we took a step of faith, and we did the things he told us to do. We moved into a new house, and today we continue to have lodgers staying with us upstairs. God has blessed us abundantly so that we can be a blessing to others.

Superbook is another reason why you partner with CBN, can you tell us why?

We have a little grandson called Monty, and he loves Superbook, it’s fantastic. By giving him good things to watch, we’re doing what the Bible

says to “train your child in the way that they should go and when they’re old they will not depart from it,” children remember things when they hear scriptures and music. Superbook brings the Bible alive; it helps cement good principles and how to care for other people. Children have huge imaginations, and we need to make sure that their imaginations are steered in the right direction.

What would you say to anyone who is considering partnering with CBN? If anyone today is considering giving a monthly donation to CBN or even increase their partnership I would say do it without hesitation because if you’re thinking about it, God has put the thought in your mind. He’s challenging you to give a bit more because the windows of heaven will open over your life. When you do it, you’re never going to lose out, you can never out give God, and it will just enable CBN to do more to reach more people. You cannot invest more wisely than into something like CBN because the return is huge

Superbook Schools Event CBN Europe has recently had the amazing opportunity to host a Superbook Schools ‘Discover Jesus’ event. We joined together with Counties UK to bring the bible to life for over 200 school children in Years 3 & 4 from 3 schools in the local area.

The children received 2 interactive sessions. Children were shown an episode of Superbook- A Giant Adventure and taught about how David had faith in God to overcome the giants in his life. After a shock guest appearance from Goliath children were enthusiastic to dig deeper into the character of David and his relationship with God. Children wrote about what might have been going through David`s mind at the time…“If God can be with me to face bears and lions then He will surely be with me to face this Giant”, “I may not be big but I am feeling brave because God is with me!”

The second session children entered the Key to Life expedition where they could interactively touch the walls, make Jesus’ timeline come to life, explore powerful videos of Jesus` miracles and explore the significance that the cross has for the Christian faith.

The Children excitedly met Gizmo and Goliath for a photo with some wanting them to return to their school for a visit! Feedback from teachers attending the event was exceptional: PAGE 20

SUPERBOOK “All children were focused and loved the interactive activities. It was great for the children to see familiar Bible stories come to life and to meet Gizmo.”

“The Superbook lesson was engaging, interactive, exciting and full of great knowledge.”

We asked Molly what she had learned from the Superbook story: “David thought to himself “I’m unbeatable” because God was with him. David believed in God and God was with him all the time. He felt like there was nothing stopping him.”

“I have learned to never ever give up and to try something you’ve never done before.”

This event has been a huge honour and an amazing opportunity for Superbook.

Bringing the Christian faith alive in a fun and relevant way to Primary school children and staff has been a highlight of the week.

“The fact that the children were able to discuss main points of the story and carry out activities along the way kept them all focused - even those who don’t always find it easy to sit for any length of time.” KS2 Primary School Teacher We are so excited for what God has got planned for Superbook schools as a result of this event. Having the opportunity to host these schools is a reminder that the Bible and the Christian message is so needed within our schools, so thank you to our partners for making Superbook a reality!

What CBN Is Doing Around The World: Ecuador

Jennifer stood on the bridge in Ecuador—alone and pregnant. This teenage orphan had already lost her mother. And at that moment, she contemplated abortion or suicide.

Each winter, the elderly widow’s heating bills made it nearly impossible to afford food. At 84, Annie struggled to pay bills on her fixed income. She often went without food.

Thankfully, she chose life for herself and her unborn child. But after giving birth to John, she struggled. “We had absolutely nothing,” Jennifer recalled. “We were very hungry. I never had funds to buy medicine when John got sick.”

But generous partners made it possible for them to obtain help through a local church sponsored

by CBN’s Orphan’s Promise.

John received food and medicine while enjoying Superbook’s Bible teaching.

Our team in Ecuador also trained Jennifer to make cakes, providing supplies to start a home business.

Today, she is a Christian, her bakery is thriving, and her family is experiencing a better quality of life.

Since losing her husband in the 1980s, she relied on God, saying, “Without Him, I don’t know where I would be.”

But one day, she found out about a food ministry near her Georgia home that partners with CBN’s Operation Blessing.

Thanks to the support of CBN partners, Annie now has access to groceries—at no charge to her!

“It helps so much!” she gratefully exclaimed. “They’re blessing a whole lot of people.”

Pat Robertson Answers Your Questions What Is the One True Church?

The one true church is the universal body of believers everywhere who have given their hearts to Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord. That is the only true church (see Ephesians 1:22-23, Colossians 1:18).

The Bible teaches us that we must maintain the unity of the Spirit (see Ephesians 4:3) until we come into unity of faith (see Ephesians 4:13). In other words, spiritual unity is something that all Christians can have. Complete unity of knowledge is something for the future.

The fact that there are many different denominations reflects a lack of knowledge in the church. In many instances, it also reflects pride.

People are unwilling to meet together with others and submit their concepts to the body of Christ.

And many denominations have come about PAGE 24

BRING IT ON because of doctrinal error. What begins as a beautiful and fresh revelation of God often degenerates into luke-warmness and then into fighting what God is doing.

Many times, those who claim to know God persecute those who really do. It becomes necessary for the Lord Himself to come back with a fresh revelation to break through the solidification of the orthodox believers. This happened in Israel. Israel had lost sight of the Lawgiver in their exaltation of the Law. They killed Jesus, who was the manifestation of God, in the name of their law.

In the Middle Ages, when the church had gained political as well as religious power, it began to grow corrupt. Then a reform movement came about through Martin Luther and others, who were persecuted severely by the church. Later on, Lutherans began to persecute Calvinists. Then Calvinists began to persecute Anabaptists, who brought out truth from God on baptism.

Still later, Baptists persecuted Pentecostals, who brought out a different truth about the baptism in the Holy Spirit. There have been succeeding waves of truth that God wants to restore to the church. These revelations of truth have been the seed for some of the major denominations which many times began as despised and persecuted sects.

The new Christian needs to find a fellowship of believers who love the Lord and who believe the Bible. There are Episcopal priests who love God with all their hearts, who are filled with the Holy Spirit, who serve Jesus and whose churches are beautiful places of worship. In some Catholic churches born again Christians could feel at home. There are Baptist churches where members love God, Presbyterian churches where the members love God, as well as Methodist, Assemblies of God, Nazarene, and Holiness churches and many others where the members love God. When you are looking for a church home, the first thing to do is to ask the Lord to guide you. Ask Him where He wants you. Find a church that is true to the Bible, one where the people love Jesus Christ and serve Him as Lord. Are the doctrine, teaching, and practice of that church in accordance with the Word of God? Do the members try to live out the doctrine they profess? If you find those characteristics and a warm fellowship, the church may be for you.

FEATURED baptised by one Spirit so as to form one body - whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free - and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. Even so the body is not made up of one part but of many. - 1 Corinthians 12:13 (NIV) We all have a key part to play in the body of Christ. We need each other and are so much stronger together. We may play different parts in the body, but we are all so important in keeping it functioning. I love how Paul explains it in 1 Corinthians 12:21: “Now if the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason

stop being part of the body. And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason stop being part of the body. If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be? But in fact, God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be.

If they were all one part, where would the body be? As it is, there are many parts, but one body.” 1 Corinthians 21 - 26 (NIV) There are times in the past where I have discounted myself as a part of the

FEATURED body because other people seemed to play a much bigger, more important role. But as I spent more time in the presence of my Heavenly Father and read about what the Bible says about this, I was completely humbled and soon learned that this was never the case - nor will it ever be! God has placed an individual calling on each of our lives to play a specific and significant part in His great plan. But in order to bring this plan to completion, we need to work together – as a family.

By entering into the Kingdom of God, we enter into a new family with each other. We all have the same Heavenly Father, the same Holy Spirit within us and all live to exalt the same name – Jesus. Even though we may not be related by blood, we are related by something so special, sacred and eternal!

Recently, I have been so encouraged by how unified we are as a church. I have been overwhelmed by the pure love of God that is flowing through and out of His people. Generations, leaders and followers of Jesus are battling together and the Holy Spirit is really strengthening us. Out of the unity we have and are creating, we are seeing fruit!

I’m sure many of you would agree when I say revival is here! For some time, the church has been praying for revival and I believe that now we are in it. God is doing a new thing amongst His people and an army is rising up.

God is equipping, training and sending out warriors to take back what is His. A new generation of fighters has been birthed and I am truly so excited and PAGE 28

privileged to live in such a time as this.

I believe there is such urgency and importance for us as children of God to be unified now more than ever.

Because the enemy can see us rising up, he won’t stop at anything to try and tear us apart. But we have the power and authority from Heaven to overcome him! That is God’s promise to us! (see Luke 10:19).

There are many ways we can carry on being unified but a key part we all have to play in this is to pray. Pray for our leaders, our cities and pray for God to move in our communities. The Bible tells us that, “For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” Matthew 18:20. (NIV) Let’s continue to be unified and fight the good fight!
