For I am going to do something in your days that you would not believe, even if you were told.” Habakkuk 1:5 Dear friends, Welcome to this special celebratory edition of Reach Magazine! This year we celebrate 60 years of CBN ministry around the globe, all made possible because of CBN Partners like yourselves! Thanks to your prayers and support we are able to go to the nations and see the scripture above become reality!

The theme for this edition is Overcoming. Paul writes in Romans 8:37 that overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.’ In the verses before, he asks if anything can separate us from the love of Christ. He goes through the list as he mentions trouble, calamity, hunger, destitution, danger and even threatened with death. A short list of significant issues that perhaps could cause us to think that God does not love us anymore as we set our eyes on our troubles. Yet, the opposite is true as Paul confirms that NOTHING can ever separate us from God’s love!

Overwhelming victory is ours! The Name of Jesus is higher than any other name or situation we face. Jesus’ Name is higher than Covid. His Name is higher than the name of any condition we suffer from. Ultimately, He paid the price for our sins and diseases at the cross. In His Name is healing. In His Name is provision. In His Name

is restoration. Declare this verse and truth out over your situation today and thank Him for the outcome!

In His Name is also protection. We declare His Name of over Afghanistan.

We pray for eternal peace to arrive in the hearts of its people, to see a change and shift take place from the inside that brings lasting transformation. We lift up Haiti in the aftermath of the devastating earthquake. Father bless this nation and bring restoration to its people.

A Message From Pat Robertson “Not a work of human endeavour, but a miracle of God.” As I think back over the past fifty years, I want to shout out, “To God be the glory, great things He has done!” In my mind, CBN is a miracle. Not a miracle of human endeavour, but a miracle of the faithfulness of Almighty God. I remember how my wife, Dede, and I came to Tidewater with three little children, $70 in cash, and a command from the Lord to claim the airwaves from the prince of the power of the air and give them to the Prince of Peace.

I set out to buy a television station; I did not own a television set, but I was armed with the promises of God. In the very early days, there was a prophecy that a microphone would go from Tidewater, Virginia, throughout the whole world. At the time, our puny little microphone would scarcely get around the block, much less the whole world.

Yet, in these years, I have seen God provide the means to buy a more powerful transmitter; then a taller tower; then stations in Atlanta, Dallas, and Boston; then a network which covered the entire United States; a radio station in Bogotá, Colombia and a television affiliate in Manila. Like a small oak tree, CBN began to grow.

Now, there is scarcely a place in the world where our programs are not seen.

In the early days, if a handful of people came to the Lord in one month, we would be happy. Since the fall of communism, the Lord has permitted us to lead 500 million precious souls to faith in His Son by 2007. We found doors of opportunity open which no one would have dreamed possible just a few years before.

And not only evangelism, but humanitarian ministry. In 1978, the Lord impressed on me the 58th chapter of Isaiah. I literally followed His command to feed the poor and clothe the naked. Out of that simple command came Operation Blessing, which is conducting medical missions all over the world and is delivering some 100 million meals throughout the United States each year.

But what about the next fifty years?

Only the Lord knows, but I feel that as long as there are hurting people in this world who hunger to know Jesus, CBN will be reaching out to them with the love and compassion of the Lord Jesus Christ.

The Tabernacle of our Hearts In Amos 9:11-12, God gives a wonderful prophecy, “On that day I will raise up the tabernacle of David, which has fallen down, and repair its damages; I will raise up its ruins, and rebuild it as in the days of old; that they may possess the remnant of Edom, and all the Gentiles who are called by My name.”

The prophet is speaking about restoring the house of David. We see this in the death and resurrection of Jesus, whose Messianic title is the Son of David. He spoke of Himself in John 2:19, saying, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.”

Yet that promise is not just for 2,000 years ago; it is a promise for us today!

God does not live in temples built with human hands; He lives in you and me.

Because of what Jesus did, we can rebuild the tabernacle in our hearts where we have His presence, His glory, and His Holy Spirit.

God continues with this amazing promise: “Behold, the days are coming … when the plowman shall overtake the reaper, and the treader of grapes

him who sows seed; the mountains shall drip with sweet wine, and all the hills shall flow with it” (Amos 9:13).

That’s an overwhelming harvest! As the seed is being planted, the reaper comes and reaps what grows. It’s instantaneous. This is a symbol of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, the new wine of Pentecost that flows like a river and covers the land.

The days of the final ingathering will be the greatest harvest the world has ever seen. So, let’s ask God to be part of His plan. Let’s put Him first, love one another, and trust Him to watch over His Word to perform it. God bless you!

Holocaust survivor: Zinaida’s Story

It was 1941, and Zinaida was terrified. The Nazis had invaded her Jewish village in Belarus, and the Holocaust began. This child and her family were rounded up and had to live in a barn with the animals. Labouring in their own fields, all their harvests went to Germany—while they were left starving, with little to eat. It was a time of hunger and fear that stayed with her.

Those who couldn’t work were killed. Only 15 people in Zinaida’s village of 3,000 were alive by the war’s end. Yet today, living alone in Israel, she struggles again to survive.

Like many older Holocaust victims, she cannot get out like she used to. She has little money for groceries, and during the lockdowns this past year, her fear of hunger and isolation reminded her of past trauma. She admits, “Those memories of hunger have never left me. Not being able to see my friends, many of them Holocaust survivors, has been heart-breaking.” Where could she turn?

Thankfully, friends like you were there for her through CBN Israel. Our staff brings Zinaida groceries and checks in on her, to help her feel less isolated. She is thrilled, and says, “It’s been so nice to have you come and bring me this food…

Your visits are something I always look forward to, and that helps me get by. It means everything—I’m so very thankful for you!”

Through your partnership with CBN, we are bringing help and hope to so many seniors, single moms, refugees, young families, and others struggling in the Holy Land. Step Into the Future With Faith “With God all things are possible.”

By Gordon Robertson President and CEO It’s amazing to reflect on the past 60 years and consider all that God has accomplished through CBN, thanks to the dedicated prayers and support of partners like you!

Now, as we look to the future, I believe that you and I are about to come into a whole new appreciation of God’s power. He is preparing to give us new designs and new avenues so that, together, we can fulfill Jesus’ command: “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15).

In our journey, it’s important to remain humble before God and trust Him completely. Recently I was reminded of Moses’ final sermon to the Israelites just before the people entered the Promised Land.

He tells them in Deuteronomy 9:1-2, “Hear, O Israel: You are to cross over the Jordan today, and go in to dispossess nations greater and mightier than yourself, cities great and fortified up to heaven, a people great and tall.” He was speaking of the “giants” that the Israelite spies had thought were too big to conquer 40 years earlier.

Soon after Moses’ sermon, God did an astounding miracle. The Jordan dried up, allowing the Israelites to cross over into the Promised Land. Yet as Joshua 3:1317 tells us, the river did not stop flowing until—at God’s command—the priests carrying the Ark of the Covenant took the first step into the water!

Today, we are about to come into a tremendous inheritance that God has stored up for us—great new ways of delivering media to every nation, tongue, tribe and people. This has been our prayer for decades, and He is answering that prayer!

We just have to take that first step.

Are we ready for God to do a new thing? You and I simply need to say, “All right, God; You want us to go in and take the land, so we will do it.” And Jesus tells us in Matthew 19:26, “With God all things are possible.”

Everything we have is a gift from God. We can’t claim credit for any of it. Our entire future is from the hand of the Lord—and we thank Him for it.

Let’s also remember the prophecy that was spoken over CBN decades ago, when my father was dedicating CBN’s new studio in Portsmouth. We had gone from a little rundown shoebox studio to a larger place. Even so, it had a metal roof, so the sound of rain would drown out our productions! But it was a big deal, with a $250,000 construction contract that was more money than we could really think about back in the 1960s.

Harald Bredesen, a longtime friend of CBN and a member of the board of directors, gave a word from God, declaring, “These days shall seem small in light of where I am going to take you.”

Here we are, 60 years since CBN was founded and over 50 years after that prophecy, and it is coming true. The technology now exists for us to bring the Gospel to all nations. All we have to do is say yes to the Lord. God bless you!

Q.

How do you begin to teach a little child about God? How do you describe God?

A.

Little children can understand love at a young age. A child will normally associate God with his parents. Often, children will associate God with their father. That’s how you describe God. Hopefully, they have a good father who is a strong example of unconditional love. You can tell them, “There is somebody beyond here who is all-loving and who loves you.” A little child will understand Jesus a whole lot better than you think. That’s why Jesus said, “Suffer the little children to come unto me for such is the kingdom of God.” He also said, “Their angels always behold the face of my Father in heaven.” Children have got an insight into heaven that maybe you and I don’t have.

God is blessing our ministry projects and is multiplying every gift, answering every prayer to see increased fruit of our efforts! Below are the latest ministry updates to demonstrate to you the impact of your support to CBN.

CBN Europe is one of CBN’s international ministry centres with its headquarters based in Hereford, England. With offices in Germany, Croatia, The Netherlands and Moldova, and an active network of broadcasters and partner ministries, CBN Europe is uniquely positioned to share the Good News of Jesus through the four pillars of CBN’s ministry. Our foundation is Jesus Christ and the transformational message of the Gospel. All that we do is possible thanks to our faithful and generous CBN partners and donors. THANK YOU! This time we focus on two countries where we work extensively through Christian media and humanitarian projects.

Romania: In Romania we work closely with our key partner ministry, Alfa Omega TV, who have dubbed CBN’s animated Bible series Superbook into Romanian. Besides broadcasting Superbook on over 30 channels in Romania, Alfa Omega also translates Christian World News, The 700 Club and many of CBN’s specials including documentaries about the importance of Israel.

MINISTRY IN FOCUS | 13 Recently the Christian Centre - Timisoara and Agape Church - organised a Superbook children’s event. One of the attendees was 7-year-old Daniel.

His parents don’t go to church. Alfa Omega TV asked him what his favourite Superbook episode is and what he learned from this animated Bible series. “I first saw the Superbook cartoon at my uncle and aunt’s house. My favourite episode is ‘The Ten Commandments’. I remember two commandments: not to lie and not to make an engraved image of God. I like Gizmo because he is very funny. I also like ‘A Giant Adventure’ and remember that David struck down Goliath, hitting him with a stone in his head. I learned that we must always be brave and not be afraid of anything”.

One of the parents named Aniela shared: “Superbook is a very efficient way to present the Word of God to our children. Obviously, when they’re so young, they don’t read the Bible because it’s too difficult for them. But Superbook makes the Bible accessible for kids and I believe this project is amazingly useful.”

Please pray that the seeds sown into the hearts of the children will bear much fruit in their lives and that they ultimately walk with Jesus! Pray also for Alfa Omega TV and all they are involved in.

Bulgaria: The Infinity Foundation in Bulgaria aims to share the Good News of Jesus through public media evangelism events and DVD distribution in Bulgaria. Since the Superbook series was translated into the Bulgarian language and aired on Bulgarian National TV, CBN partnered with the Infinity Foundation to reach remote communities in Bulgaria with the transformational message of the Gospel.

With the help from CBN Partners we were able to provide audio visual equipment to project CBN programmes on a large screen. This vital evangelism ministry is well received and continues to bear much fruit for the Gospel. In July 2021 the Infinity Foundation was invited to minister at a local centre for children and young people with disabilities. This centre is a project of the local area and the European Union consisting of six houses where children

14 | MINISTRY IN FOCUS with disabilities can live. A request came from the Director to visit and start Bible education with the children.

In each house the number of children varies but, on average, there are around ten to fifteen children. The plan was to start with Superbook events and thus present them the Bible as a book and what was ‘In the Beginning’.

The Infinity Foundation led 6 Superbook events, one for each house, accompanied with a short teaching from the Bible.

In one of the houses, it was advised that it may be easier if only the children with minor disabilities be present at the event. We encouraged the house team that everyone could be present, even those with more serious conditions. It would be good for them also be given the opportunity to hear about God. After the event, all the supervisors were amazed that for the first time all children - despite their physical problems - watched Superbook with great attention!

The supervisors shared that the children had never been so calm and quiet during screenings in the past.

The door is now open for future Superbook events in all six houses, praise God! The presence of God was there in all six events and He worked in the children’s hearts. They all looked different after each screening.

Please pray that we can continue to visit those six houses with Bible teachings for the children. May God continues to open their hearts, work in them, and change them.

Operation Blessing - Please pray for the work Operation Blessing is doing with Hope Boxes; since January this project has seen many families fed through the distribution. Please pray that this work would continue to expand.

TESTIMONIES Provision: Sarah rang in to thank God and the Hope Line team for standing with her in praying for a job which the Lord has provided for her! She was so thankful and grateful for the Hope Line being a constant source of encouragement and prays for CBN always.

Praise God! Healing: Janine’s husband has been healed from severe mental health issues that he has struggled with for the last 20 years. She wanted to thank God for his goodness and powerful healing and also thanks the team for standing with her in prayer over this situation.

Salvation: After a very long conversation with a dear lady named Alexandra - who has clearly been searching for Truth but recently found herself deceived and side-tracked

by Mormonism - by the power and nudge of God’s Spirit to ‘stay with her’, she came into a knowledge and confession of the Truth and declared Jesus as her Lord and Saviour.

God is faithful!

STILL IN THE RACE

22 kilometers to the finish! But, then I suddenly felt a cramp in my hamstring.

I stopped immediately and tried to stretch out the pain. After 30 seconds, I continued walking and then started running again. Something like that can totally throw you out of rhythm, and - as a runner - you know it can come back at any time.

I’m a passionate endurance athlete, and this story comes from my participation in the 2019 Hamburg IRONMAN. It was my seventh IRONMAN attempt at achieving my goal of qualifying for the World Championship in Kona, Hawaii.

If something unexpected happens in a competition, I always use my own checklist to refocus:

station, and never give up. Fourth, run one kilometer after the other towards my destination.

Each of us certainly has that one thing in life that hurts, screams, distracts, or calls for attention. What knee-pain might be to one runner - alcohol or an unhealthy relationship – is something else to another. It is mostly the one thing that paralyses or hinders us from moving forward to finally reach our goals and dreams or to have the relationship that God intended for us to have.

Unfortunately, the enemy also knows what our weakness is and always starts right there.

Where am I? What do I have?

What can I do?

What’s next?

“Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” 1 Peter 5:8

It is important to answer these questions clearly and without emotion.

In this case, I assessed my situation.

First, I have completed 3.8k, cycled 180k, ran 20k and only needed to travel 22km to the finish line. Second, I have no more severe pain and I am okay overall. Third, reduce my running pace, refuel at every refreshment

I like this verse because it says what we should do, which is to be sober and watchful. How quickly do you fall into emotions, let yourself be pulled down, and distracted from the actual goal?

A number of things raced through my head during my competition. “Now I can’t qualify for Hawaii, it was all

in vain, I can give up right now, then at least I’ll save myself from the pain of defeat...you must keep moving forward, and take one step at a time.”

For God it isn’t about winning, He wants us to be overcomers. God gave us everything with his Son, Jesus. With his victory on the cross, Jesus conquered the world. He is the ultimate overcomer (John 16:33). And, we as his children can share in this victory! With Him by our side, we too can be overcomers. (“No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.” Romans 8:37) And we don’t have to do it alone, we can forget what is behind and strain toward what is ahead. We can press towards the goal (Philippians 3:13-14). He promises us in his Word that he will complete what he started in us (Philippians 1:6).

As the clock showed 10 hours and 5 minutes, I ran over the finish line. I earned the seventh Ironman “finisher” that day. At 44 years old, and in spite of the setback, I achieved my fastest time. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to qualify for the World Championship, but I learned an important lesson that day. God wasn‘t interested in a trophy.

It was more important to Him that I honor my commitment, that I lead my

children by showing them not to give up when things seem tough, that I finish the run that I started. “For though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again, but the wicked stumble when calamity strikes.” Proverbs 24:16.

I will hold on to my dream of qualifying for the IRONMAN world championship and, God willing, I will make my eighth attempt in the future. It doesn’t matter how many times we ‘fail’ as long as we don’t give up. As long as we remain ‘in the race’.

Michael Jordan, one of the best Basketball players of all time, summed up his missed opportunities like this, “In my career I have messed up over 9,000 shots. I lost almost 300 games.

My team trusted me 26 times to hit the last winning basket and I missed.

I’ve failed again and again. And that’s why I succeed.”

With this in mind, I would like to encourage you to not give up and keep going. God is with you, hold fast to Jesus in all your circumstances and challenges. He wants to help you be an overcomer. Remember, as a child of God, you are always on the winning team.

With Him, you are a winner!

It has been a great joy to be associated with the ministry for these long years, God is good, He is gracious and kind and has been faithful. A Mother Pleads with God “I thought there might be something in my eye,” 8-year-old Kimberly said when she began to have vision problems. Doctors handed down the devastating news: Kimberly had a cataract that required expensive surgery.

Kimberly’s mother, Karla, couldn’t afford to pay for the operation. “I asked God with all my heart to heal her,” she recalled. Then one day, Karla discovered CBN’s Operation Blessing Life-Changing Surgeries where they lived in Honduras. It happened just in time, because Kimberly also developed a detached retina, a condition requiring immediate treatment. The Lord answered Karla’s prayers when Kimberly’s procedures were done - and fully paid for.

Today, Kimberly can see clearly. “Now I can run and play, and I can draw and colour!” she said. Karla said gratefully, “I appreciate your help. You have no idea how much I thank you.”

The Struggle to Breathe Peru

“My daughter was feeling bad for almost three days,” Priscila said. “I was so worried!” Gaby is a 3-year-old living with her mother in a remote village in Peru.

Medical care used to be two hours away, an expensive trip that few in the community could afford. However, with your support, CBN’s Operation Blessing had transformed an abandoned building into a fully functional medical clinic a few years ago.

Priscila brought her daughter to this clinic. There, the child was diagnosed with bronchitis, and she received medication, along with a nebulisation treatment that she desperately needed.

“My daughter got much better after being nebulised,” Priscila said. “Thank you so much for the help!” Thank you for your heart to see Gaby, and so many other families, receive the care they need through Operation Blessing.

The Answer to Her Prayers Ukraine

Vika’s family in Ukraine was far from loving and peaceful. Stress and misunderstanding forced this 21-year-old to leave home and live in a hostel while going to college. But her roommates didn’t respect her Christian beliefs. Unable to afford her own apartment, Vika prayed for a better living situation.

Then, through her church, Vika discovered a transitional house - an Orphan’s Promise Training Centre - supported by partners like you.

There, she attended classes and connected with like-minded people who became her friends.

Best of all, the staff mentored her and taught her how to solve problems in her relationship with her family. “Once in this house, I felt... warmth and love,” Vika expressed. “My relationship with my parents, brothers and sister has changed...

The transitional house is God’s answer to my prayer.”

Superbook Fan, Fanoulla, Conquered 10K and Raised a Massive £1,355!

After doctors diagnosed her with Peripheral Neuropathy and said that she would not walk normally again, Fanoulla never gave up. She refused to accept the diagnoses, but instead, put her trust in Jesus. “All I could hear was ‘I will live and not die and declare the works of the Lord’”.

Fanoulla defied the doctors’ diagnoses and conquered an incredible 10K! “I completed 5k without a problem but then the Holy Spirit spoke to my heart and said, ‘Come on do 10k, let’s show the enemy what you can do in Christ’.

I turned to everyone and said, ‘I want to do another 5k!!’ They were all hot and ready to go home, I’m sure, but bless them they all said yes! 10k and £1,355 donations later I’d done what I wanted to do, I showed that nothing is impossible with Jesus.”

Elisabeth (9), Charlotte (7) and Eres (3) Walked, ran and cycled their 5K with their father Michael.

They were so excited to raise money for Superbook and said that they loved Gizmo and Jesus!

CBN partners with Eternal Wall of Answered Prayer – how you can help

W

e hear a lot about the importance of praying, even when we feel no one is listening, but how often do we actually stop to remember the times prayers have been answered?

Recalling and reflecting on the things God has done - in the Bible, throughout history, in our lives and in the lives of others - is a tangible way we can make hope visible. Reflection on answered prayer also gives us a deeper understanding of who God is and helps us mature in our Christian life.

Deuteronomy 4:9 says “Only be careful, and watch yourselves closely so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them fade from your heart as long as you live.

Teach them to your children and to their children after them.”

Eternal Wall of Answered Prayer will be a visible reminder to everyone that we should never forget the things God has done; it will encourage a national conversation about prayer. The structure will be over twice the size of the Angel of the North and will be

surrounded by 10 acres of landscaped ground, providing an opportunity for reflection on the invaluable place prayer should or could have in our lives.

Each of the million bricks in Eternal Wall will display an individual’s story, remembering how Jesus answered their prayer. The landmark will demonstrate that Jesus is alive, He listens, and He answers prayer today.

Using a bespoke app, visitors can point their smart device to a brick to discover the individual answered prayer it represents.

For every brick in Eternal Wall, a brick will be donated to a local social housing development. This sculpture is making hope visible while also planting seeds of hope to meet others at their point of greatest need and help change their narrative to one of restoration.
