Q&A with Peter Kairuz Question: “Is there a correct way to pray so God can hear my prayers?” Answer: There is no exact formula of prayer in order to get God’s attention instantly. However, I can assure you that God do hear our prayers. As 1 John 5:14 NIV says, “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, He hears us.” When we pray, we must first have faith and believe in the God that we are praying to. Hebrews 11:6 says, “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” We must also have to be in a right standing with God. This is because the Bible in Proverbs 15:29 NIV is clear when it says, “The Lord is far from the wicked, but he hears the prayer of the righteous.” As children of God who are in a right standing with God because of Jesus, we can be assured that He hears our prayers. Do not worry if He is making you wait for answers. In between the asking and the answer, God will surely work inside of your heart. Blessings beyond measure,

Filled Again Have you ever felt so empty without anything more to give? Alicia Santiago did. A few years ago, she acquired a large sum of debt and even contemplated jumping off a bridge to be free from the misery she was in. “I felt alone with no one to talk to. I felt like a dead person walking and all I knew was that I wanted my agony to end,” she shared. One night, while alone and deep in anguish thoughts, Alicia chanced upon The 700 Club Asia. Moved by the stories of hope and restoration, she joined the hosts for a prayer and accepted Jesus into her life. Watching the show became Alicia’s daily habit. Despite her lack, she was even moved to give to the mission of The 700 Club Asia. After some time, she joined a church that aided in nourishing her newfound relationship with God. Not only was Alicia freed from her negative thoughts, she was also revived by the love of God. Furthermore, God showed this love by providing for her enabling her to settle the debts she once owed. Despite her own needs, Alicia went the extra mile to give because she trusted God would provide for her. In her emptiness, God called her to give by faith and she experienced being filled again. 3

Rescued by God
Sammie Villagomez and his family used to live poverty. For them, each day was a fight for survival. There were even times when they would eat junk foods with rice to fill their empty stomachs. Despite the struggles, Sammie did his best and persevered as a working student. When that became insufficient, he asked his best friend’s parents to adopt him and help him finish school. However, Sammie struggled in getting hired after graduating. “I graduated but I was jobless. When it dawned on me that I am the eldest and my family depends on me, I started feeling worthless and useless,� Sammie recalled. This was when Sammie chanced upon The 700 Club Asia. Moved by the testimonies, he decided to surrender his life and entrust it to God. When the hosts prayed for a man looking for a job, Sammie eagerly claimed that prayer for himself. Immediately, a well-known company invited him for an interview. He landed the job and has since been promoted and awarded several times. Now, he is happily growing in his faith in a church family referred to him by the CBN Asia Prayer Center.

Freed from the
Pains of the Past Ruel Taylor was only 12 years old when his mother passed away. When his father remarried, he was given to his relatives. Feeling abandoned, Ruel spent the next 20 years of his life trying to satisfy his heart’s longings through drug addiction. However, Ruel realized that this path of destruction will never be the answer to what he craves. He started seeking for answers until he chanced upon The 700 Club Asia. Watching the program touched Ruel’s heart and led him to accept Jesus into his life as Lord and Savior. He recalled feeling immense relief and comfort – the very things he has been looking for all his life when he prayed with the hosts. He also called the CBN Asia Prayer Center which became his constant companion in times of loneliness and distress. Through the help of its trained prayer counselors, Ruel was later referred to a church that ushered him more into a relationship with God. The church partner accepted him warmly and helped deepen Ruel’s faith. God opened Ruel’s eyes and broke the strongholds of addiction. He also now has his own family that faithfully serves with him in church. 5

Bring Joy and Relief to the Tribes
Nothing stopped the Superbook team, in partnership with Tribu ni Bro, from bringing the love of Jesus just to reach the Dumagat kids in Brgy. Puray, Rodriguez, Rizal last March 16, 2019. It became an unforgettable day filled with cheers for the children as they participated in Bible games and activities and met their favorite robot friend, Gizmo. Through the TV brought by the team charged to a car battery, the kids were able to watch the battle of David and Goliath from A Giant Adventure. Of course, they did not leave the place without receiving Jesus in their hearts and capped it off with a joyful sing and dance along “The Salvation Poem”. The Dumagats are among the many Indigenous People groups (IPs) in the country living in impoverished mountainous areas with very limited access to electricity and cellular signal.
Conquering The Mountains To Help Apart from electricity and cellular signal problems, the Dumagat community also suffers from extreme poverty, undrinkable water, and poorer health conditions. To address these needs, Operation Blessing Foundation Philippines (OB), CBN Asia’s humanitarian arm, extended help by giving them free quality medical, optical, and dental assistance.

OB conquered the 4-hour trek of difficult terrain and sharp mountain slope to serve the Dumagats in the Sierra Madre Mountain Range.
These outreach missions to Sitios Quinao and Kabuhuan in Brgy. Puray, Rodriguez, Rizal were made possible in partnership with Holy Spirit Ranch Ministries last April 10-12, 2019. Aside from medical help, also installed solar panels to provide light electricity to homes and water filtration equipment so the Dumagat families can finally drink clean potable water. The children were also blessed with free deworming, circumcision, feeding programs, slippers, and free film showing of Superbook and Tanikala Holy Week made-for-tv films at night.

The Love Of Jesus To The Needy and Hopeless
Helping our indigenous kababayans did not end there. On April 30, 2019, OB also provided relief goods to the Aeta families who have been severely affected by the magnitude 6.1 earthquake last April 22 in Brgy. Inararo and Villa Maria, Porac, Pampanga. Being the province that was hit the hardest during the quake, the catastrophe left many residents hopeless and empty handed. A lot of them lost their loved ones. Displaced Aeta survivors had to settle in their makeshift homes because their houses were heavily destroyed. But through the relief goods, mats, and blankets that were distributed to the beneficiaries and the counseling they received to help them relieve from this traumatic experience, our Aeta kababayans are now able to gradually get back on their feet. 7

The youth, as they say, is the hope of the nation. But in this era when the word “millennial” is being linked to being entitled, apathetic, and at worst – selfish, the younger generation are decidedly standing up and breaking these stereotypes. More and more of them take part in blessing the nations and inspiring the world through their stories of hope.
Young People Inspiring Young People CBN Asia’s Holy Week made-for-TV short films once again touched the hearts of many, especially the young viewers this year. Tanikala’s latest offering featured the story of Crizalyn Macato and her family, and how they endured life’s trials – from being separated from each other for a very long time, suffering a deadly typhoon, and losing a family member. Yet, all hope was not lost. Despite losing their home due to typhoon Yolanda, the family experienced restoration and transformation after receiving a free, permanent shelter through the Community of Hope (COH) initiative from CBN Asia’s humanitarian arm, Operation Blessing Foundation Philippines (OB). OB also paved the way in reuniting the family after being separated from each other. Not only that, thanks to your partnership with us, Crizalyn is now a Back-to-School scholar while her father provides for their family through manning the vegetable farm provided by OB. Grateful of their renewed life, Crizalyn pays it forward by sharing God’s Word to the kids attending Sunday School in COH. Her story proves that despite adversities, God makes all things new. Her testimony ministers to a lot of young people who feel hurting yet waiting for the Lord’s restoration.

Bearers of the Word throughout the world On the other hand, CBN Asia continues in its commitment to share the Word of God to the least reached through its missionary training arm – Asian Center for Missions (ACM), which is now seeking more young people and inspiring them to go on global missions. ACM strongly believes in the potential of the youth to go beyond borders for the new generation. To sensitize and involve them on global missions, ACM spearheaded a Youth Missions Mobilization, at the Good News Ministry Center in Baguio City last March 2019. Through a simulation activity, they allowed the participants to experience the challenging condition of underground churches in restricted countries. According to ACM Curriculum and Standard Development Officer Ruby Bayasen, mobilization efforts and programs are set to happen in the future to connect more youngsters in spreading the gospel. “We challenge them to start young. They can start praying and giving, so they can be involved in missions. Also, the trend in missions now is pluralism where different cultures converge in a community and you see a variety of nationalities. When our youth is given the chance to educate in these convergences, it will make an impact to each of the nations they would go to,” Ruby shared. 9

the Love of God CBN Asia continues to expand its reach and maximize various media platforms through new online campaigns and shows produced to share the love of God. I Can BreakThrough (ICBT) is CBN Asia’s newest online campaign that aims to reach out to Filipino millennials who are struggling or hurting, and help them rise up from their adversities. Aware of the many difficulties that millennials of today face, ICBT produced a mini talk show titled BreakTambayan where hosts discuss timely and relevant subjects that shed light and break wrong perspectives about life. They also have BreakThrough the Lens, another show that helps millennials discover the truth in this era of fake news and fallacies. It gives them access to wide range of experts that provide reliable insights and wisdom. Meanwhile, The 700 Club Asia also recently presented its new online show titled Beyond Small Talk which aims to address the most pressing concerns and frequently asked questions about marriage and relationships, women empowerment, financial management, mental health, and other life issues and struggles.
