The Planning Process

The Hopi Wedding Plaque, incorporated into traditional ceremonies by the Hopi Tribe, was used as inspiration to create the final 3D model. The textile was diagrammed and personally interpreted to build and draft an abstract version of the material. The diamond and triangular shapes were taken into account and used as inspiration, as well as color when it came to the final product.

Analysis Diag rams

Project 5 started with a trip to the Philadelphia Museum of Art in which each student chose a painting. They took pieces from the art to inspire the Bas Relief and wooden model. The shapes, colors, and overlapping of Boats by Stuart Davis were used to create new ways to cut, bend and fold paper. The goal was to create the illusion of the painting while making the Bas Relief its own unique art.
