Since 2013, West Harlem Group Development Corporation (WHDC) has responded to this need through the Summer Youth Employment and Education Program (SYEEP), which focuses on developing job skills and preparing West Harlem youth for college. This summer, Creative Art Works partnered with WHDC to employ six recent graduates from Hamilton Grange Middle School to work as part-time Youth Apprentices. These young artists were tasked with painting a pair of murals on the north and south entrances to the Jacob Schiff School Campus. The theme of the mural was developed through client meetings with Hamilton Grange and PS 192 staff, but the Youth Apprentices embraced the idea of welcoming students to the Jacob Schiff School Campus.
