PAUL’S VIEW I would like to welcome all the players and staff from Charnock Richard to Station View.

As always we hope for an entertaining game played in the right manner.

My first week in management has been challenging but enjoyable.

The performance against Barton Town Old Boys was positive. It was pleasing to get something out the game which I thought we deserved.

The players took on board what I asked from them which was work rate commitment and desire. We never gave up as a team and stuck together which was particularly pleasing.

The Worksop Town game was lost, in my opinion in the first 25 minutes of the game, having said that we had a great chance just before half time with a header which hit the inside of the post if that goes in it could of been a different game.

What’s great about football is that when you have a disappointing defeat you don’t have to wait long until the next game, that’s where you can put things right and we aim to do that today.

Saturday 3pm is my favourite time of the week. We all love the game but it’s much more enjoyable to win and the win is what we will be aiming for today.

A Strange Night at Liversedge Liversedge 3 Harrogate Railway 0 Railway travelled to Liversedge for an evening game, following a very hot summer-like day and playing for the first time after manager, Lee Ashforth had resigned.

well hit shot. 1-0 Harrison Blake doubled Liversedge’s lead on 32 minutes. Leaving Railway with a hill to climb to get back into the game.

However, just as kick-off approached, thunder and lightning appeared and rain started to fall heavily.

With around ten minutes of the first half left, Railway responded well, with the Liversedge keeper having to make a great save to push the ball around the post for a corner.

The players, officials and fans stood for a minute’s silence in memory of Danny Wilkinson, made a little more poignant by the fact that Lee had joined Brighouse Town as assistant manager – the team who were playing Shaw Lane, when Danny had passed away and he had witnessed the tragic events.

A clash of heads from the resulting corner, halted play for a considerable time as players from both sides received attention.

Half time and the home side went in two goals to the good.

The silence was only interrupted by the sound of the falling rain on the metal roof of the stand. Impeccably observed and a credit to non-league football.

The second half was a hard fought affair – with Railway getting some opportunities in front of goal.

However, it was Liversedge who scored again to make it 3-0 and put the game to bed.

On the pitch, Railway who were missing a few key players, put up a good fight.

Brandon Deane came on with just over 20 minutes left, replacing Chris Ovington and the under 18’s Luca Baravelli replaced George Mason to make his debut for The Rail.

However, a confident Liversedge were quickly on the attack and but for a couple of goal line clearances

by Jordan Hendrie, Harrogate could have found themselves 2-0 down within the first ten minutes.

With neither side really creating many clear-cut goal scoring opportunities, the final whistle blew and Liversedge took all three points.

Liversedge weren’t to be denied and took the lead shortly after with a

INTRODUCING CHARNOCK RICHARD In 1933 the Chorley Sunday League became the Chorley Alliance League and a Charnock Richard village team was entered, but on the outbreak of the Second World War the league and team were temporarily suspended.

1989/90.

At the end of the War, in 1945, the Chorley Alliance League was reformed along with Charnock Richard F.C.

Further success came in the Shield in seasons 2001/2, 2006/7, 2010/11 and 2011/12.

The team proved to be a tremendous success, eventually winning the league title in the 1947/48 season, losing only two games, and scoring 107 goals.

In 1993 the club moved to the West Lancashire League, and since then both the First and Second teams have gained promotion to the top division of their respective sections.

This success prompted them to try and run two teams, but they ran into difficulties and the club closed at the end of the 1948/49 season.

In 1955, under the leadership of Ron Wilcox, the present club was reformed, and once again played in the Chorley Alliance League.

In 1957 they moved to the Preston & District League, where they have spent most of their time, apart from a brief flirtation with the Bolton Combination.

In the Preston & District League they were soon amongst the honours, beating English Electric in 1957/58 to take the Guildhall Cup. Success also came in this competition in seasons 1963/64, 1968/69, and more recently in 1992/93.

A number of league championships have also come their way, including winning the Premier League in

The 1967/68 season saw the village team take the Lancashire Amateur Shield, beating Vickers Sports Club from Barrow after a replay.

They have also been successful in the West Lancashire League, winning the Premier Championship seven times in seasons 1997/98, 2003/04, 2008/9, 2011/12, 2012/13, 2013/14 and 2014/15.

They also won the League’s Richardson Cup in 2001/02, 2003/04, 2013/14, 2014/15 and 2015/16.

Numerous other honours have also come their way over the years including two Goldline Trophy victories at the Bolton Wanderers Stadium.

The club has however kept its links with the Preston & District League (now renamed the Mid Lancashire Football League) and have an Academy team and Veterans team playing in that league.

The three senior teams are now referred to as the First team, Reserve team, and Academy team, and a large number of junior teams play in the Central Lancashire Juniors League, Continued Page 17

with an under 18’s team playing in the Lancashire Sunday Football League.

The club moved to Mossie Close on Charter Lane in 1968, after playing elsewhere in the village, and the adjoining club house was opened in 1988.

A new ground has recently been developed on the opposite side of Charter Lane, known as Mossie Park, which now stages all First amd Reserve team games.

After 23 years in the West Lancashire League, the start of the 2016/17 season saw yet another change of leagues, with the First Team moving up into the Hallmark Security Football League, and the Reserves moving into the West Division of the Lancashire League, but there was no change for the Academy team who remained in the Mid Lancashire League.

Since the club was reformed in 1955 the teams colours have always contained green.

Bridlington Town NCEL Premier League 7:45pm Tuesday 27 September 2016 The club was founded in 1918 as Bridlington Central United after the First World War.

In 2007, it was announced that Bridlington Town would play in the inaugural season of the Northern Premier League Division One North.

However a disastrous campaign followed, and they finished bottom of the division, and were relegated to the Northern Counties East League Premier Division.

The team joined the Driffield and District Minor League, soon joining the Driffield and District League.

After several seasons of hard work, the team were promoted into the East Riding Amateur League, they won the championship five consecutive times during the 1950s.

In 2012 The Seasiders won the East Riding Senior Cup, beating Hall Road Rangers (res) 9-2 in the final at the KC Stadium.

They also won the East Riding Senior Cup twice around this time.

The club changed their name to Bridlington Town F.C. in 1959 and moved into the Yorkshire League Division Two, during their first season in that league, they finished runners up and were promoted.

In 1960–61 they reached the First Round proper of the FA Cup eventually losing out to Bishop Auckland who were very strong at the time.

In the mid to late 1960s, Town built up a rivalry with fellow Bridlington side Bridlington Trinity.

During the 1966–67 season in the Yorkshire League, Town won the championship while Trinity finished second.

The following year it would be Trinity who took the title and Town finished in third. This rivalry continued until the early 1970s when Trinity became part of the Midland League.
