Toolstation NCEL Premier League - 7:45pm Tuesday 30TH August 2016
LEE’S VIEW Welcome back to Station View A warm welcome to Handsworth and the people associated with the club. I think its fair to say that Handsworth are firm favourites to win the league and are setting a benchmark for everyone to aim for. After going close last season, they narrowly missed out on promotion to Tadcaster and although I am sure they were disappointed they have started this season strongly. I am writing these notes prior to the weekends games so at the moment Handsworth have 7 points from 9 after a great comeback against Liversedge and are also still in the FA Cup. Its important that we dont fear anyone however and tonights game will give us a true reflection of where we find ourselves. We want to be challenging at the top of the table also, and we have fallen behind a few teams but this is due to the cup run and I am sure that we will catch them up when we have played a few more games. The squad is looking good at the moment and we are pretty much injury free so its causing me a headache in selection, but thats the joys of management and its my role to ensure we get the best team on the pitch and get the most points that we can. We are playing some attractive football and scoring goals along the way, we currently have 14 goals from 6 games which is a nice stat, and we have only conceded 7 so we are getting things right at both ends of the pitch. Its important that we continue this form. Enjoy the game, I know I will.

A Game of Two Halves Railway returned to Toolstation NCEL Premier League Action at Station View on Saturday and gift the goals and game to Staveley.
S
taveley left Station View happy as they collected their first points of the new campaign. However it could and probably should have been so different.
tack with Marcus Day [making his first appearance this season] and Bromley pushing forward. But it was on 58 Minutes when Railway hit the self-destruct button by offering the first of two gifted goals.
Railway looked solid in the first half, forcing chance after chance but couldn’t beat Lewis Naylor who was in superb form.
The usually assured Danny Stimpson won the ball on the edge of the Harrogate Railway box.
Railway’s Stephen Bromley got on to the end of a pinpoint Ryan Sharrocks cross which had Goal written all over it, but Naylor somehow got a hand to the ball and forced it round the post.
Adam Lee, the Miners’ forward closed him down and Stimpson elected to play backwards to Jake Lofthouse in the Railway goal to clear.
The Locomotives were then awarded a free kick on the left. A superb ball was whipped into the box and headed back to Danny Stimpson who volleyed it on target, only to see the ball pushed onto the post and out for a corner.
However, he under-hit the pass. Jake tried to collect the ball but was beaten to it by the alert Lee, who rounded Lofthouse and passed across goal to Watson who rolled the ball into the empty net. 1-0 and a tough job just got tougher.
Bromley again forced Staveley’s ‘keeper Naylor into another stunning save with a shot from the edge of the area.
Railway tried to get back into the match. But it was the 75th minute when Railway conceded another gift of a goal. Rail’s ‘keeper who has been a hero of recent games went to pass what should have been a routine ball up the pitch to one of his teammates.
Railway were on top and could have gone in at half time three goals up, but instead they had to be content with a solid performance and look to continue creating chances during the second 45 minutes. The Rail kicked the second half off and went straight on the at-

manager threw caution to the wind and went three at the back and changed to a very attacking formation.

Harrogate Railway look to Tuesday Night when they play host to one of the League’s favourites - Handsworth Parramore.
From his second shot, the ball ricocheted off the defenders back to George, who struck it for the third time only to see the unbeatable Naylor get a hand on to the ball and clear it from danger.
Railway then have a tie in the FA Cup on Saturday when they face Consett in the first Qualifying Round.

INTRODUCING HANDSWORTH PARRAMORE Handsworth Parramore FC were formed at the start of the 2014/2015 season after the merger of two highly successful clubs, Handsworth FC of the S&H County Senior League Premier Division and Worksop Parramore of the NCEL Premier Division.
Cup tie.
The clubs had been working together towards the merger during the previous season after first announcing their plans in the Summer of 2013.
The duo rebuilt the squad who ended their inaugural season in 7th place and with the clubs first piece of silverware, the NCEL League Cup, secured after a thrilling 4-3 victory over Cleethorpes Town.
The NCEL and the FA allowed the new club to take over the position of Worksop Parramore, who had just finished in 4th place in the Premier Division, whilst the S&H CFA allowed their reigning Champions to continue under the name of Handsworth Parramore Reserves.
After leading the table for a number of weeks, a downturn in fortunes led to a change at the top and the installation of the ex Belper Town management team of Peter Duffield and Mick Godber.
Our second season started in positive fashion but halfway through the campaign, the difficult decision was made to relieve Duffield of his duties, with Mick Godber stepping up as Caretaker Manager.
The decision was made for the first team to play their home matches at Sandy Lane, Worksop whilst the Reserves and the other senior teams (Under 21’s, Under 19’s, Under 18’s A & B sides and Over 35’s) play their home games at Olivers Mount in Handsworth, Sheffield.
However, such was the impact that Godber made, including an unbeaten run of 17 games that propelled The Ambers to the top of the table, the decision to make the role permanent was taken just prior to the 5-0 thrashing of Worksop Town in the last home game of the season.
The aim of the clubs joint Chairmen, Pete Whitehead and John Ward, is for the first team to return to Sheffield in a brand new facility within the next two years.
The Ambers eventually fell just short in their quest for the title, finishing a comfortable second behind Champions Tadcaster Albion.
The new club could not have begun life better as in their first game, they crushed Glasshoughton Welfare 6-0 and followed this up with a 5-1 victory over Oadby Town in their first ever FA
The Ambers were chosen to represent the NCEL in the Toolstation Charity Cup in the Summer of 2016 and won the Trophy, beating Western League opponents Odd

Rob’s View Meet the chairman A hearty Harrogate Railway welcome to the directors, players, management, backroom staff and supporters of Handsworth Parramore FC.

T
here is an old saying ‘what a difference a day makes’ and it doesn’t just apply to days but also to weeks, football teams, families and friends.
their attitude and performances. Up until now it has been a pleasure due to the positive reaction from the squad in these areas.
What it means is change and for me change has always been welcomed in my life and I regard it as healthy as I accept it is inevitable.
We keep reiterating to the players we want them to show respect and understanding to all the officials who visit our club at all times.
Why am I being so philosophical? It’s because last Wednesday I watched another performance of the first team that had all the traits of a positive season for the club. As we know the season is long and there is much that can go wrong, however there is much time to put things right also. The football board consisting of David Shepherd, Alan Smith, Terry Sharrocks, Lee Ashforth and myself meet monthly to discuss and vote on issues that will strengthen the club on the pitch. Also Lee and I speak daily about players,
It has astounded me for many years, including this season, how some chairmen and managers behave. Only recently we have heard words at matches that you wouldn’t want your children to hear. We have sent a clear message to everyone that this will not be tolerated at Harrogate Railway and we want professionalism to be our overriding behaviour. We wish everyone who attends today good health, a good game and may the best team win.

O
ur next game is at Station View on Saturday at 3pm, when we welcome Consett AFC in the first qualifying round of the FA Cup.
Full name Consett AFC
Consett AFC are steeped in history and are a team that Railway have never played in any competitive game, in any competition. To reach the first qualifying round, Railway have beaten Albion Sports and Norton & Stockton. Consett have won twice on the road against West Allotment Celtic (2-0) and Clitheroe (1-0). Consett A.F.C. was founded in 1899 as Consett Celtic. The town was dominated by the steelworks until 1980 and the club enjoyed their patronage. The works provided the team’s first ground – the Vicarage Field, known locally as “the Vic”. It was taken back by the Works in 1948, and the renamed side of Consett A.F.C. played at Eden Colliery Welfare during the construction of their new ground at Belle Vue. The Steelworks had donated an area of waste ground and slag heaps for this ground and the local community volunteered in clearing and levelling the field, a feat the people of the town were very proud of when it opened in 1950. They currently play in the Northern League Division One.
