LEE’S VIEW
Welcome back stop Station View.
I hope the Mossley players, staff and management have had a safe journey and I welcome them all tonight, On Saturday we got our first three points against Radcliffe and we fully deserved the victory, when it was 11 v 11 our game plan was working well and we deserved our 1-0 lead. The sending off of one from each side upset our rhythm more than theirs and it took us a while to get our foothold again in the game, but once we retook the lead we could have scored several more than the four we ended up with. I always like different players to be scoring the goals and when all four goals were scored by different players that is always a good sign, as we aren’t relying on an individual to get the goals. Additionally the goals by Vinny and Jack were superb and its nice to score goals of that calibre. Into tonight’s game and Saturday now is a memory that must be put to bed and we must move on and prepare for what will be a very difficult test. Mossley have always been a bogey team for me either as a player or as a manager, the two main things I remember are my debut for Ossett Albion when we lost 5-1, Simon Wood my assistant scoring with a cross! Definitely a low light of my playing days and something he never lets me forget.
Then as management I played in the final game of the season two years ago when Josh Windass now playing at Accrington Stanley and doing exceptionally well, broke his wrist as we lost 3-0 I believe. Last season in the corresponding fixture we drew 5-5 after leading 5-2 with 10 minutes to go. It set us up for what turned into an exciting season for us with goals going in regularly at both ends here at Station View. Mossley have started the season very well and lost for the first time in the league on Saturday against a very good Kendall team, so today will be very difficult. However, I stand by what I said there are no easy games in this league, when Prescott lost 8-0 against Trafford, people looked and thought they were the team to struggle, then they almost beat Glossop and on Saturday drew with Scarborough who were outstanding when they played us. So we need to be sure that every game we play, that we have the same work ethic and that we prepare as best we can to set up to win a game. There will be changes to tonight’s team from Saturday, I don’t believe that you have to stick with a winning team especially when we have two games in three days and I look at the squad and all the players are deserving of a starting place, so they know to be patient and take their chance when it arrives. Enjoy tonight’s game

Harrogate Railway 4-1 Radcliffe Borough
Railway take all three points in drama filled Radcliffe Borough clash Harrogate Railway claimed their first win of the season with a 4-1 success over Radcliffe Borough at Station View after both sides were reduced to ten men.
was made with the opponent, a set of studs were showing and the left-back was quickly dismissed.
Railway manager Lee Ashforth opted for the 4-4-2 that had caused Spennymoor problems in the second half of Tuesday night’s FA Cup replay with Stephen Bromley replacing Charlie Clamp.
The visitors then found an equaliser in the 52nd minute when a ball was delivered towards Matthew Davies and, although Tom Goodwin was quick off his line to close his opposition down, Railway’s ‘keeper’s clearance cannoned off Davies and into the net.
Railway took the lead after 15 minutes when Jordan Outerbridge struck a defence splitting half volleyed pass to release Vincent Dhesi through on goal and the attacker unselfishly squared for Bromley to slide into the goalmouth and put the hosts ahead.
After an offensive change from Ashforth saw Railway move to a back three, the hosts took the lead for the second time of the afternoon when Dhesi picked up possession 18 yards out and curled a right footed effort into the top corner leaving Chris Cheetham with no chance.
The referee then took centre stage in the final five minutes of the half as he brandished red cards for both Callum Hoctor and Lawrance Hunter.
It was a moment of brilliance that put the result beyond doubt, however, as Jack Stockdill spotted Cheetham off his line and expertly lifted the ball over the out of position goalkeeper from 40 yards.
Hoctor had reacted angrily to Dhesi’s challenge and lashed out at the Railway number ten under the nose of the linesman who quickly informed the referee and sent Hoctor on his way. Just three minutes later Hunter went to ground in the middle of the pitch and, although no contact
Railway then got their fourth and final goal of the afternoon when Ryan Sharrocks sent a low cross in from the right for Roy Fogarty to tap into the net with his first touch since coming on.

The Harrogate Railway Team Lee Ashforth has a wealth of Non-league experience in and around these levels of football and played at Station View for three seasons before moving on. A popular choice he arrived at Liversedge with Billy in 2010/11 and in 2011/12 stepped up to become Billy’s right hand man. His playing experience alongside his calm approach made him the ideal candidate for his role. Summer 2015 sees Lee take on his biggest challenge yet as he succeeds Billy Miller as manager of Harrogate Railway, leading Railway for the 2015/16 season. Simon Wood is an experienced player who can play across the back four and is now involved on the management of the reserves. He has played 500+ games at Evostick level and although starting the season injured will be hopeful of a successful season.

Harrogate Railway’s History Harrogate Railway was formed in 1935 by workers at the Starbeck LNER depot and joined the local Harrogate League with some success, winning the British Railways National Cup in 1946. They borrowed £1,500 from the LNER and more than 300 workers contributed one old penny per week to repay the loan. This money secured ownership of the current Station View site.
Railway finished in the top three in 2006 and achieved Uni-Bond Northern Premier League status, the vital victory at Sheffield probably the best display of the season. History had been made and the club was set to play at the highest level of the pyramid in its history. The first season in the Uni-Bond League proved to confound the bookies who predicted a basement finish. A good start was built upon and the campaign ended in a mid-table finish.
The 1950s saw the club progress through the West Yorkshire League to the Yorkshire League and they made the second round proper of the FA Amateur Cup in 1953, going out 3-2 at Harwich & Parkstone. Sadly, the loco sheds closed in 1959, subsequently affecting finances as many of the workers, and players, had to leave the area. Nevertheless, under the auspices of “Chick” Farr the club soldiered on through the sixties and they almost repeated their Amateur Cup exploits of the fifties when they made the first round proper in 1961 only to lose 4-2 at Whitley Bay.
Unfortunately Martin had to relinquish managerial duties for business reasons but Vince Brockie and new assistant Dave Morgan carried on the good work. The following season’s league form proved to be rather erratic but Railway finished well clear of the relegation zone in the end. Incredibly, another mighty FA Cup run dominated and the little club from Yorkshire reached the second round proper for a second time. A battling home victory over then unbeaten rivals Harrogate Town was the undoubted highlight of the qualifying rounds before Blue Square side Droylsden were sent packing 2-0 in the first round. Mansfield Town came to Station View on a soggy Sunday and BBC Match Of The Day screened the game live this time, complete with Ray Stubbs. Mark Lawrenson and Jonathan Pearce. Mansfield won 3-2 but not before two second-half goals from Danny Davidson gave them late scares. Assistant manager Dave Morgan was promoted to manager for the following season but found life difficult, gleaning only 2 points from the first 36. He resigned and in his place came Phil Sharpe and Richard Chattoe. Between them they staved off fears of relegation and looked for consolidation in the future.
In 1964 they won promotion to the first division of the Yorkshire League, then just three steps from the Football League itself, and made the Yorkshire League Cup Final, losing to Farsley Celtic after a replay. The late sixties and the seventies became a real struggle and Railway had to pull out of the Yorkshire League and return to the Harrogate League in 1973. This gave the club time to re-group and they were back in the Yorkshire League in 1980 becoming founder-members of the new NCEL League in 1982. Freddie Cliff steered the club to promotion from the second division (north) and won the League Cup with a 5-0 victory over Woolley Miners Welfare in the final. Meanwhile a new junior structure was formed, thanks to the work of John and Mary Lindsay and now Railway can boast one of the best junior set- ups in the region. In the 1990-91 season Railway made their first major impression in the FA Cup, Denis Metcalf steering his team to the fourth qualifying round. Future manager Martin Haresign actually played in the 3-1 defeat at Chorley.
However, the start of the season was not one of the best and Christmas saw Railway again languishing at the bottom end of the table but an influx of good, battling players pulled the club away from the drop-zone. Richard Chattoe left mid-season and Nigel Danby came in as Phil’s assistant. Phil resigned at the end of the season and Nigel was appointed as manager, bringing in Mick Norbury as his right hand man. Nigel and Mick’s reign lasted just short of two seasons as they flirted with relegation in both years. In came a management team of Alan Parkes, Dennis Metcalfe, Bob Moffat & Steve Donoghue to replace them. Despite valiant efforts in the last six League games Rail found themselves in the bottom two when the season finished. Thankfully Rail were reprieved due to Durham City taking voluntary relegation and Woodley Sports being relegated due to a Ground Regulation ruling.
Floodlights were installed in 1991 and a strong Sheffield United side, including Vinnie Jones, provided the star opposition at the official opening. Management changes and more financial hardship hindered progress as the nineties wore on. However, Dave Fell joined as boss in 1998 and won the NCEL first division but he departed at the end of the same season. Paul Marshall took the job on and, although it was a struggle, he kept Railway in the premier division. The club’s faith in him culminated in two amazing back-to-back FA Cup runs. The fourth qualifying round was reached for a second time in 2001, the run ending with a 3-2 defeat at home to Morecambe, the winner coming deep into injury time.
The 2012-13 season started with the new management team of ex-Liversedge manager – Billy Miller and his assistant ex-Railway favourite Lee Ashforth in charge. Although most of the players were from a league below us it was a struggle to start with but things came good with a brand of football that hadn’t been seen at Station View for some time and by the end of that season Rail had finished in 18th position with a total of 41 points – well clear of the relegation zone. In addition Harrogate Railway finished with the best discipline record not only in the Northern part of the League but in all three Evo-Stik leagues.
A year later Railway went two better and, after a bewildering qualifying competition, the many who travelled to Berkshire witnessed a 2-1 win at Slough Town in the first round proper. The lowest-ranking club ever to reach the second round were drawn at home to Bristol City, top of the second division, the highest-ranking club in the competition at that stage. Railway opted to play the game at home and temporary stands adorned Station View. Sky TV beamed the game around the globe and the club was the focus of the football world for a couple of hours in December 2002.
2013-14 Billy & Ash consolidated our position within the League forging a strong relationship with Simon Weaver and Harrogate Town, dual registering players to boost the player pool at Railway. As a result, Railway finished 13th on 48 points for the season. 2014-15 season saw Railway finish with a record points tally and eigth - a record high. Nathan Cartman wont the golden boot for being the league’s top scorer.
Bristol City were made to fight for their 3-1 win, Steve Davey netting with 17minutes to go, but once again an injury-time goal sealed Railway’s fate. Despite winning the NCEL President’s Cup, Paul Marshall was not reinstated. Leeds duo Dave Harrison and John Francis were appointed but, after just one win in 11 games and early exits from the FA competitions they stepped down. Martin Haresign was brought in to steady the ship and retain NCEL status.
Lee Ashforth took the managerial reigns when Billy left during Summer 2015 and we look foward with excitement to the new season.

Dual-registered defender ready to give it all for Railway
Harrogate Railway’s close links with Vanarama North neighbours Harrogate Town have allowed Lee Ashforth to snap up promising young defender Nathaniel Pells on a dual registration agreement.
The 18-year-old arrives at Station View from Town having learnt his trade at Huddersfield Town since the age of 13 with the Yorkshire club describing Pells as strong in the air, mobile across the ground and technically sound on the ball.
12
Despite only a short stint so far at the
CNG Stadium, Pells feels the move has already been beneficial to him, while outlining what he is hoping to bring to Station View. He said: “I found pre-season at Town really good because I got some good experience playing 90 minutes against
Leeds United. “That was a really good experience and there are some really good players there that I can learn a lot from. “I’m quite a confident player at the back and I think I can help the players
around me show some confidence on the ball and be positive.
on me. That’s how I want to play football, to enjoy it.”
“I think John Terry is a great example for a central defender because he’s 34 now and still playing at the highest level.”
Despite not having the chance to train with his team mates after signing on the Thursday before, Pells was thrown straight into the starting lineup for Railway’s FA Cup clash with Spennymoor Town.
One of Pells’ coaches at Huddersfield Town was former Leeds United defender Leigh Bromby, most notable for being the only person to have made over 100 appearances for both Sheffield Wednesday and Sheffield United. You have to be a good player to make that many appearances at that level and Pells is grateful for the time Bromby spent developing his own game. The 18-year-old is also enjoying working under his latest coach Lee Ashforth at Station View. He said: “In my second year at Huddersfield I had Leigh Bromby as my under 18’s coach and he did a lot of individual work with me. “More than other managers he took me to one side, gave me personal feedback and that helped me a lot. “In my scholarship I had some other really good coaches that were really disciplined and gave you the confidence to go out and play which really helped me. “Before each game Lee always tells me to just go out and play with freedom and that there’s no pressure
The 18-year-old centre back turned in a mature performance to help Railway keep their first clean sheet of the season and force a replay with the much fancied opposition. He said: “The main objective was, we said before the game, if we keep a clean sheet we can’t lose; and that’s THE KEY what we achieved.

Early years
WHO ARE MOSSLEY?
Mossley were formed in 1903 as Park Villa and initially competed in local competitions. After just one season the club’s name was changed to Mossley Juniors. In 1909 they became Mossley AFC and moved to their present ground Seel Park in 1912 from their previous site at Luzley. The early years of Mossley AFC were spent in the Ashton & District League culminating in a superb season in 1914–15 when Mossley won the League, Manchester Junior Cup and the Lady Aitken Cup, progressing to the South East Lancashire League in 1915, the Manchester Amateur League in 1916, the Lancashire Combination in 1918 and then were founder members of the Cheshire County League in 1919, finishing runners up in the first season in both League and League Cup and returning to win the League Cup the following season beating Sandbach Ramblers in the final.
1960–1980
Apart from many successes in the Ashton Challenge Cup and various Manchester Cup wins, Mossley had many lean years in the League and rarely finished in the top half of the table, although in 1961 they won the Cheshire League Cup for only the
second time when they beat a strong Tranmere Rovers Reserve side 6–3 at Hyde United’s ground under the guidance of former Blackburn Rovers star Eddie Quigley.
Mossley’s most successful season in their Cheshire League days was in 1969–70 when Don Wilson’s side finished runners-up in the League, reached the 1st round proper of the FA Cup for the first time in 20 years losing narrowly in a replay to Stockport County and made it to the quarter finals of the inaugural FA Trophy going out to Southern League club Barnet. After more than fifty years in the Cheshire League, the Lilywhites were elected to the Northern Premier League in 1972. During the late 1970s, Mossley grew into a formidable force in non-league football. They won successive League titles in 1978–79 and 1979–80 and finished runners-up in each of the next three seasons. With manager Bob Murphy at the helm the club also saw its greatest moment. May 1980 saw the Lilywhites at Wembley Stadium in the final of the FA Trophy. After defeating supposedly bigger clubs like Altrincham,
21
Blyth Spartans and Boston United on the way, Mossley lost 2–1 in the final to Dagenham, their first defeat in 31 games. A crowd of 26,000 were at Wembley, and a memorable day for the club and town was captured for posterity by Granada TV in their documentary “Mossley Goes To Wembley.” At this time Mossley had the most formidable strike force in non-league football with Leo Skeete, Dave Moore and Ian Smith alongside first Eamonn O’Keefe, who was later sold to Everton, and then Kevan Keelan.
1980–2000
The following season saw Mossley take their only Football League scalp in the FA Cup when they beat Crewe Alexandra 1–0 at Seel Park, in a match which featured the only appearance for Mossley by former Manchester City and England star Mike Summerbee. Other League clubs faced in the glory years were Rotherham United, York City, Mansfield Town, Stockport County, Huddersfield Town and Darlington. The great run of success ended abruptly in 1984 when following financial upheavals the Lilywhites finished bottom of the then one division NPL and had to seek re-election.
A gradual recovery took place through the 1980s,with 1988–89 being the most successful since the glory days. Under the guidance of Bryan Griffiths and Dave Jones, Mossley won the NPL Cup, Manchester Premier Cup, Reporter Floodlit Cup and at the start of the following season the Northern Premier League Shield. After this, fortunes faded again following further financial problems with the club narrowly avoiding relegation in 1992. The following year, after a calamitous series of results not even the return of the legendary Bob Murphy could save the club from the drop. Over the next two years Mossley saw no fewer than six managerial changes and the Lilywhites run of 23 years in the NPL came to an end in 1995 when they were relegated to the North West Counties League. The 1995–96 season saw Mossley make a highly promising North West Counties League debut, involved in the promotion race for most of the season they eventually finished 4th, reaching the final of the Floodlit Trophy into the bargain. The following season, after a bright start, the team failed to stay the pace with the leaders and finally finished in 7th position, but did have a great run in the FA Vase, reaching the quarter finals. In 1997 the club parted company with manager Kevan Keelan and installed another former Lilywhites player, Benny Phillips as his replacement, as well as appointing a new chairman in the club’s main sponsor Sam Rigby of club sponsors NEC and with a rebuilt team finished in 9th position. 1998–99 saw the team more than unfortunate not to win the title, losing out to Workington on the last day of the season. It was a bitter pill to swallow after leading the table for the last three months which included a club record 12 successive wins.

21st century[edit] The millennium season saw Mossley again reach the quarter finals of the FA Vase before going down 3–1 at eventual winners Deal Town F.C. and slip from the title race after that to finish 4th, but they did reach the final of the Manchester Premier Cup, losing by a last minute goal to Droylsden at Oldham Athletic’s Boundary Park. In November 2001 Benny Phillips was replaced as manager by former Coventry City and Stoke City player Ally Pickering. Mossley finished their centenary season 2002–03 in 3rd position, reached the quarter finals of the FA Vase for the third time and won their first cup in over a decade when they beat Clitheroe 2–1 to win the Worthington Trophy at Gigg Lane. The 2003–04 season saw Jason Beckford replace Pickering as manager just prior to the season’s start and the club embarked on a 21 match unbeaten run leading up to the New Year. However, following a 3-point deduction for to an administrative error, form took a nosedive as the team quickly crashed out of four cups and lost pole position in the League. The drama continued to the end and Mossley
were pipped to the title by Clitheroe on the last day of the season. In the 2005–06 season, Mossley become champions of the Northern Premier League Division One, finishing two points above Fleetwood Town despite losing their last two games, earning promotion back to the Premier Division. In 2007, Mossley faced relegation and were assigned to the inaugural season of the Northern Premier League Division One North. Jason Beckford parted company in the close season and was replaced in June 2007 by Gerry Quinn, a teacher from Huddersfield. Quinn’s reign lasted one full season, before former Mossley player Chris Willcock re-joined the club as manager, in June 2008. Willcock resigned in January 2010 to be replaced by his former assistant and ex Woodley Sports manager John Flanagan. Flanagan resigned at the end of the season due to business commitments, however, and he was replaced by former Stalybridge Celtic reserve boss Shaun Higgins. Despite a good FA Cup run to the final qualifying round Higgins reign only lasted until March 2011 when following a poor run of results and form he was replaced by former Woodley Sports boss Gareth McClelland, initially on a caretaker basis. McClelland impressed enough to be given the job for the 2011–12 season Mossley’s 100th year at Seel Park. Experienced central defender Steve Halford was appointed as the club’s new player-manager in January 2012, along with Peter Band who joined Halford as player/assistant-manager. The 2012-13 season saw Mossley competing at the top end of the NPL Division One North throughout the campaign, finally achieving a play off position on the final day of the season. However, the team lost to an injury time goal at Cammell Laird in the play off semi final. The Lilywhites did, however, retain the Manchester FA Premier Cup beating Salford City on penalties in the final following a 2-2 draw. Manager Halford departed to Ashton United just prior to pre season and Mossley appointed his former assistant Peter Band and former Winsford United boss Lloyd Morrison as joint managers for the 2013-14 season and with a completely rebuilt team finished just below mid-table. The 2014/15 season saw Mossley competing all season for a play off place only losing out in the last week of the campaign. That disappointment was waylaid by success in the Manchester FA Premier Cup as the Lilywhites beat Curzon Ashton on penalties in the final at Oldham Athletic’s Boundary Park to win the trophy for the third time in four seasons.

MOSSLEY - PLAYER PROFILES
Peter Band (Joint Manager - age 41) joined Mossley as a player in August 2011 and made 42 appearances for the Lilywhites in the 2011/12 season. As Peter wound down his playing career he made just 6 appearances and was more often than not named as an unused substitute while honing his management skills as Steve Halford’s right hand man in the 2012/13 season and last season made just a solitary app[earance as a substitute. Peter is now in his second season as joint Team Manager at Mossley with Lloyd Morrison, having previously been assistant manager to Chris Willcock at the former Woodley Sports and then to Halford at Mossley following Gareth McClelland’s departure in January of 2012. As a player, Peter was late into the semi pro game having played for Cheshire amateurs Bollington Athletic for several years before joining Hyde United in 1998 at 25 years old. He started out as a striker but reverted to midfield and was often used as a centre back as well, a position he eventually featured in regularly for his later clubs. He left a struggling Hyde team to join Altrincham and then stepped up to the Conference with Northwich Victoria. On Altrincham’s promotion to the Conference he switched
back to Moss Lane in the summer of 2006, making his 200th appearance for Altrincham in that season. He re-joined Hyde for his second spell at the club in 2007, quickly making his 200th appearance for them also. He joined New Mills in the summer of 2008 and then on to Woodley Sports from where he joined Mossley.
Lloyd Morrison (Joint Manager - age 43) was appointed as joint team manager alongside Peter Band in July 2013 having spent the previous season in charge at North West Counties Leaguers Winsford United where he led his side to a 4th place finish, just 4 points behind champions Padiham and also led them to success in the Mid-Cheshire FA Cup where they beat Northwich Victoria in the final. After an amateur playing career which saw him play for Chadderton, Maine Road and Mid Cheshire League side Styal, Morrison became player manager at Styal winning the League title in his second season in charge and also the Cheshire Amateur Cup. He then stepped up to the North West Counties League with Flixton and with little or no budget took the now disbanded club from adrift at the bottom of the NWCL when he took over to avoid-
27
ing relegation. They then finished 15th in his first full season and 8th place in 2011/12 before he took over at Winsford in July 2012. Lee Twigg (Coach - Age 43) joined Mossley AFC backroom staff as 1st team coach in July 2013. A Family coaching history since the late 1960’s with Macclesfield Town, he continued that tradition to coach the youth of the town after a promising playing career was cut short by serious injury in 1986 while a junior with Manchester City. Lee went on to have an amateur career alongside Mossley manager Peter Band at Bollington Athletic from 1990 to 1997 before leaving the UK to work in Spain. He has a portfolio of qualifications in Football and Futsal and is currently working towards his UEFA ‘B’ License. John Marsden (Goalkeeper Coach) first started out at FC United of Manchester working with the 1st team and from time to time the youth team before going on to manage the Women’s team until December 2012. From there he went on to Skelmersdale United as a coaching assistant and then moved on to New Mills as coach where he remained until th end of the 2013/14 season before joining Mossley in June 2014.

who were finally elected to the Football League after trying for over 40 years. Everything comes to he who waits. Great Harwood Town left the Northern Premier at the end of the 1977-78 season.
We finished with the sad demise of Bradford Park Avenue who had to put up the shutters in 1974. They were replaced by Worksop Town who joined and kept the total number of clubs in the league at 24. South Shields moved to neighbouring Gateshead who were renamed Gateshead United.
Wholesale changes came about for the start of the 1979-80 season with the formation of the national Alliance Premier League, which became known as the Conference later on. The Northern Premier suffered an exodus of seven of its clubs with Altrincham, Bangor City, Barrow, Boston United, Northwich Victoria, Stafford Rangers and Scarborough all joining the new set-up.
The next changes occurred at the end of the 1975-76 season when Fleetwood disbanded and Skelmersdale United returned to the Lancashire Combination. Frickley Athletic were admitted from the Midland League, the Northern Premier then having to carry on with 23 clubs. At the end of the following season Gateshead United called it a day after a relatively short existence but a newly-formed club, taking the old Gateshead name, was quickly formed and took their place. I’m not sure whether that would be allowed under today’s regulations as new clubs, even if they are built from remnants of a recently defunct club, have to start at the bottom of the ladder. Workington also joined in 1977 and Southport came in the following years as a straight swap for Wigan Athletic
To compensate for this loss, the Northern Premier admitted Burton Albion, Grantham (who had originally declined an invitation to become founder-members back in 1968), Oswestry Town and Tamworth from the Southern League and Marine and Witton Albion from the Cheshire County League. The league then had a membership of 22 clubs. Mossley, our visitors this evening, won the first championship under the new system that involved promotion but it was Frickley Athletic who gained entry into the Alliance Premier. Kings Lynn moved up from the Southern League to fill the vacancy. More next time, meanwhile let’s have a win tonight!

TRAFFORD Saturday 12TH September - Away
Harrogate Railway embark upon their third away league match of the season as they travel to Shawe View to take on Trafford on Saturday 12th September in a fixture re-arranged due to both sides elimination from the FA Cup. The Manchester outfit were eliminated from the Cup by Witton Albion and have suffered equally damaging league defeats at the hands of Warrington Town and Scarborough Athletic to leave them 13th after five fixtures. Tom Baker’s side are expected to be strong this year, however, after coming down from the NPL Premier Division last season and showed what they can do with an 8-0 thumping of Prescot Cables in which Chris McDonagh notched five times. Before the resounding win, Trafford had drawn their first two games since dropping down a division as they drew 2-2 with Brighouse and 0-0 at Mossley. Railway’s defenders will have to keep a close eye on 32-year-old McDonagh whose seven goals make him the current Evo-Stik NPL First Harrogate Railway are on their travels again the followDivision North top ing Saturday when they make the trip to Victoria Park to face scorer. Burscough FC. The Linnets have had a mixed start to the season with a win, a draw and two defeats in their opening four fixtures. Derek Goulding’s men didn’t get off to the start they would have liked and suffered consecutive 2-1 defeats in their opening two games at home to Lancaster City and at Kendal Town. Burscough’s form has picked up, however, and Railway’s upcoming opponents have drawn 1-1 at Ossett Albion and secured a convincing 4-1 win at home to Warrington Town to leave them 14th in the NPL First Division North after four games. Burscough finished last season a modest 15th and lost the corresponding fixture against Harrogate 3-1 at Victoria Park last September. The Linnets are on their travels twice before hosting Harrogate on the 19th September, taking on both Brighouse Town and Northwich Victoria. Saturday 19th September – Away
