Half Time Quiz: Going back in history a little
PAUL’S VIEW
I
would like to welcome all the players, staff and fans from Maltby Main to Station View for today's game.
We do however have to start the games more brightly and switched on, we are conceding too many early goals.
The game on Tuesday was one to forget for us all.
In football you have to be switched on for the full game or you will be punished, whether that is the first minute or last, we can't be giving teams head starts in matches.
Ryan came off injured very early in the game which was a massive blow for the team so early on. It's since been confirmed that Ryan has broke his metatarsal. I would like to wish him a speedy recovery. Then we had a dubious sending off also quite early in game. I saw the challenge as a 50/50 that Ovo won, obviously the referee didn't see it that way. That's football you have to sometimes take it on the chin and move on but what I will say is I want my centre midfielders to be aggressive in challenges. I certainly didn't blame Ovo for the sending off. The previous four games to Tuesday were positive and we played some good football in those games, creating plenty of chances and scoring a few goals which is always pleasing.
4
Overall I'm pleased with the progress we are making, however we certainly have along way to go. I will keep pushing the players to the maximum to get the best out of them. One thing I've been very pleased about is the commitment the players have showed me, they are fighting in games and all giving 100%. Losing your last match after a few undefeated is disappointing but we can now aim to start another unbeaten run going with todays game. Please get behind the lads and cheer the rail onto victory.

aul Beesley returned to the sideline, having missed the previous match due to concussion.
His line-up featured a new face, Toby Lees who had signed mid-week from neighbours Knaresborough Town. Simon Parkes was absent, having moved in the other direction. So, with Railway sporting a new look defence, the NCEL Premier League game kicked off at 3pm on a very pleasant Saturday afternoon in October. The Harrogate team settled well into the first 15 minutes of the game, having their fair share of the possession and holding their hosts who were third in the league at arms length. On 20 minutes, the referee awarded a free kick outside of the Railway penalty box. Thackley played the ball into the area and Ben Joyce rose to guide it into the net with a powerful header. The hosts were one goal to the good. Seven minutes later and it was that man, Ben Joyce again who doubled Thackley’s lead with a deflected shot past Adam Birkenshaw, also making his debut in goal for the Rail. Harrogate Railway’s best chance of the half saw captain, Jordan Hendrie cross the ball to Brandon Deane, but his header went agonisingly wide of the post and the teams walked off at half time with Thackley leading 2-0. The second half saw Railway pushing forward in numbers and pressing for a way back into the game.

THACKLEY
Thackley 2 Harrogate Railway 1
Paul Beesley substituted the recent arrival Lewis Riley to bring on Luca Baravelli, who has stepped up from our youth team in the past couple of games. The Rail were forced into a second substitution, when the ever-dangerous Dan Barrett limped off with a knee injury; Bradley Sharrocks taking his place. Finally, the very lively Brandon Deane was replaced by Stephen Bromley to try and offer something different in the Harrogate Railway attack. On 52 minutes, the Locomotives won a corner on the Thackley right. Ryan Sharrocks delivered a brilliant in-swinging ball. Steve Bromley rose, but the ball went just over his head. Greg Kidd had also climbed high above his marker and got a strong head to the ball, sending it into the top left corner of the Thackley goal, leaving the keeper with no chance of making the save. 2-1 to the hosts and The Rail were now pushing to get the equaliser. Despite a number of half chances, time was again against Harrogate Railway, the final whistle blew and they had failed to find a second goal.

CHAIRMAN's VIEW
Rob Northfield & Terry Sharrocks
A very warm welcome to the directors, management, supporters, players and backroom staff of Maltby Main. Since my last notes in the programme many things have happened both positive and challenging which really is all a part of life and football as we know it. On a positive note we have introduced Liam Ormsby a fine young man that adds quality to our management team. Harrogate Railway have confidence that the management team now in place will improve both results on the pitch and the professionalism off the pitch. On another positive note we went 4 games unbeaten and took 8 out of 12 points, which could easily have been 10 points, when to everyone’s frustration we conceded a goal in the 90th minute at Retford. Paul and Liam are working hard to add to the quality we already have in the squad and over the next two months we truly believe that their team will be on the pitch fighting, challenging for points and delivering positive results through entertaining football. These notes were written early Wednesday morning after arriving home at 1 am following the 3-0 defeat at Rainworth Miners Welfare. The defeat does not reflect that one of our best players Ryan Sharrocks broke his 5th metatarsal in the early minutes of the game and is now in plaster. He will be seeing a specialist on Thursday.
Everyone at Harrogate Railway wishes Ryan a speedy recovery as he has been an outstanding performer since the start of the season. Within minutes Chris Ovington was sent off for what even their fans thought was a 50/50 tackle, so the evening got off to the worst possible start. However we continued to see a battling performance from Paul and Liam’s side. Off the field many people continue to work very hard in support of making Harrogate Railway a very successful community club. I do not wish to pick out individuals as so many work so hard and on most occasions for nothing in support of the club. However three months ago we introduced a Railway Person of the Month Award and I would like to congratulate those people who have been voted to receive the award, together with a small thank you from the club and they are: Ann Kirk, Steve Thirkell and this month Chris Adams. There are many things going on behind the scenes which people do not get to see in development of the club which we will continue to work on. We will inform you as it progresses if and when we receive more information.

Clipstone FC NCEL Premier League 3:00pm Saturday 29 October 2016 - away game The club was established in 1928 as Clipstone Combine, and initially played in the Colliery Alliance at a ground near Mansfield Road.
The club dropped the 'Welfare' part of its name in the summer of 2013 to become simply Clipstone. In May 2013 the club announced a new multi-season sponsorship deal with local based painting and decorating contractors Riley & Co (Mansfield) Ltd, with them becoming not only the main club sponsor but home and away shirt sponsors as well for the duration of the sponsorship.
They later moved to Baulker Lane and were renamed Clipstone Boys Brigade before adopting the name Clipstone Welfare. The club moved up to the Mansfield & District League, later transferring to the Sutton & Skegby League and the Nottingham Spartan League.
At the start of the 2013–14 season Barry Clarke was honoured at the club for 40 years service with the new hospitality suite being named in his honour.
They won the league, league cup and Notts Intermediate Cup in 1955–56. They then moved up to the Notts Alliance and moved to the Lido Ground. In 1972–73 they won the Senior Division and the Notts Senior Cup, a feat repeated in the next two seasons. They began entering the FA Vase in 1974, reaching the second round in their first season. They won back-to-back league titles in 1992–93 and 1993–94, before moving up to the Central Midlands League. In 1994–95 they won the league's Premier Division, and after winning it for a second time in 1996–97, were promoted to the Supreme Division. The League was re-organised at the start of the 2011–12 season and Clipstone was placed in the South Division. That season, Clipstone applied to be elevated to the Northern Counties League and got that promotion despite finishing in fourth place.
