Theakston Nidderdale League v MCC

NIDDERDALE LEAGUE Wednesday 24th August – Bolton Abbey Cricket Club was the wonderful setting for the 22nd fixture between the Nidderdale League and the MCC. We first played this fixture back in 1984 which was our centenary year and the match has continued ever since.

ship with the second wicket falling at 112. Harrogate’s Will Parker made 35 and Toby Drummond 53. Young Jack Lever looked a great prospect with his spin taking 3-82.

We played the match 9 years ago at Lords which was quite an experience.

This game features various interval treats and Bolton Abbey did the players proud with a fabulous spread.

There is hope for a return to the Home of Cricket, perhaps for the 25th fixture.

The MCC declared on 256/6 perhaps having batted a little longer than they might have wished.

The match is hugely over subscribed by MCC members due to the picturesque grounds we have to choose from and host the game together with the legendary League hospitality.

Damon Ive was unlucky to go for a duck and Chris Gill was also out cheaply but Aaron Brunner and Jim Riley put on 118 for the third wicket when Riley was caught by Bilton’s Ryan Bradhsaw off the bowling of Chris Kippax for 66 the score was on 126-3.

Tradition has it that the MCC bats first in this time game and the 2016 fixture was no exception. Mark Harrison (14) and Beckwithshaw’s Alexis Twigg (57) opened up for the MCC with Russell Robshaw nicking Harrison out, caught by Chris Gill. Early success for the home side but Twigg and Segdgley (53) steadied the

A decent position. Luke Jarvis had other ideas and he picked up 7-18 to dismiss the home side for 151. Ripon’s Marcus Groundwater picked up 2 wickets.
