Jace McAvoy

Hi, my name is Jace, I’m 12 years old, and this big guy next to me is my steer, Smoke. Smoke is a little stubborn (okay... sometimes a lot), but we’ve put in the work and made a pretty solid team. He pretends not to listen, I pretend to be the boss it’s a whole thing. But at the end of the day, I’m proud of how far we’ve come together. When I’m not dealing with Smoke’s attitude, I’m usually playing hockey or ball hockey. I also love riding dirt bikes and doing anything farm-related. If it involves animals, machines, or mud. I haven’t totally figured out what I’m going to do with the money from selling my steer yet… Maybe I’ll save it, maybe I’ll spend it on something cool… or maybe I’ll just stare at it for a while and feel rich.

Reid is 15 years old and going into Grade 10 this fall . He lives at Biggar with his family. This is Reids 9th year in 4H and his 6th year attending Prairieland Junior Ag Showcase. Dallas McAvoy
Hey there! I’m Dallas, and this handsome guy next to me is my steer, Devin. Devin and I spend a lot of time together which means I talk to him more than most people. But he’s also my partner in crime when it comes to livestock shows, and we make a pretty great team if I do say so myself. When I’m not wrangling Devin you’ll probably find me on a volleyball court. I play any chance I get. I’m also into riding dirt bikes, preferably as fast as possible and ideally with a little mud involved. Oh and let’s not forget one of my favorite hobbies: annoying my brother. It’s basically an Olympic sport in my house. I’m training for gold, and let’s just say... I’m winning. With the money from my steer I plan to save it, cause my mom said to and she knows best.

Joe Dirt is a 1400lbs Simmental steer with a big personality and big hip. He’s quirky, often trying his best to eat pants, hats and mitts and is quite easy going, if not a little stubborn at times. On our achievement day I was honored to have Joe slapped reserve champion club steer. This year I am hoping to use the money I get from the steer sale to buy fresh show supplies as you often go through products quite fast.
