Northern Classic Charolais & Simmental Sale - Grande Prairie, AB

Page 1

Welcome from Bohrson Marketing Services

On behalf of the McQuaig and Klassen families, we are thrilled to welcome you to this year’s Northern Classic Bull Sale.

This sale brings together two of the beef industry’s most respected seedstock programs — JayDawn Farms and Willow Creek Simmentals. Both consignors are well-established operations with a long history of raising functional, structurally sound cattle that perform in commercial herds. Their breeding goals are grounded in real-world beef production: maternal strength, fertility, feet and udder quality, balanced performance and longevity — traits that matter to producers from coast to coast.

JayDawn Farms offers a diverse set of genetics, including red, black and fullblood Simmentals along with Charolais, while Willow Creek Simmentals has built a reputation on consistent, honest, black and red Simmental and now Angus and SimAngus cattle that work for today’s cattlemen. Both operations take pride in their programs, stand behind their bulls and are always happy to visit with buyers about how their genetics can fit specific herd goals.

Year after year, this sale attracts a large crowd of repeat buyers who fill the building and line up early to be part of one of the most anticipated bull sales in the region. That consistent support speaks volumes about the quality of cattle on offer and the relationships these consignors have built with their customers — relationships rooted in trust, integrity and shared commitment to advancing the beef industry.

Whether you’re searching for bulls to add calving ease, performance, maternal power or a combination of traits, we’re confident you’ll find bulls that deliver value and fit your specific operation. Take your time to study the catalogue and feel free to reach out to either consignor or any of us at Bohrson Marketing if you have questions — we’re here to help you make the best selections for your program. We look forward to visiting with you

Best Regards,

The Bohrson Marketing Team

EPD EXPLAINATION

EPDs are “Expected Progeny Differences”. They are a useful tool in selection. EPD incorporate the individual animal with it’s ancestry performance. EPDs do not compare across cattle breeds. They are individual based per breed. EPDs indicate a probable variance aboce or below breed average for that trait for a given bull’s progeny. The accuracy of EPDs for calendar year bull calves is generally about 20% (one out of five times) so use it cautiously. One of several selection tools.

Direrctions to Evergreen Park

Welcome from JayDawn Farms

On behalf of JayDawn Farms I would like to personally welcome you to the 23rd annual Northern Classic Bull sale to be held at Evergreen Park in Grande Prairie March 13th at 1 pm in the Drysdale building.

First off I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has purchased, bid or attended our sale the last 22 years. Many of you are not only good customers you have become good friends as well so thankyou, your support is greatly appreciated. It’s a real exciting time to be in the cattle business and for those that stuck it out thru some very tough years now you are getting paid for all your hard work. Record prices are being hit across all facets of the cattle industry and it looks like it should be around for a long time yet with the low cattle numbers across North America. One thing for sure is Alberta produces some of the worlds finest beef and its highly sought after.

As I look back and reflect on the last year it amazes me how time seems to go faster and faster each year. 2025 had lots of ups and downs in our area, we seen one of the worst droughts in a long time, spotty rains hit some areas but for the most part things were not good. We had to start feeding some pasture groups in mid august, little to no hay in our area and well the silage season we covered a lot of acres to get up enough feed. With that said harvest season was short and sweet…not much there but it came off quick and good quality. With purchasing some feed and straw for bedding we were able to maintain our cow herd. Lots of guys either had to sell or downsize their cattle operations due to the lack of feed in the area. Record calf and cow prices in the fall eased the burden of the drought and brightened the outlook on the farming and cattle industry. We have received an abundance of snow this winter giving us hope that things have turned around and the drought is over. We are calving out 200 head again this year of purebred Simmental, Charolais and a few commercial cows that we use for our embryo program. The heifer pen is larger than usual due to having more heifers than bulls in 2025 which makes me happy Nikki not so much lol. We strive to produce the best product we can of sound functionable cattle that calve easy, grow well and have good dispositions. We are always striving to find the best possible genetics for our program whether its thru exclusive semen packs, embryo work or top end walking herdbulls. In turn we hope to pass onto you better genetics. The 2025 calf crop endured one of the toughest grazing seasons we have seen. No creep was given to these bull calves just hard dry grass, grasshoppers and mommas milk. Bull calves were weaned early September, it would have been earlier if the feed pile had been bigger. They were then put onto Country Junction no starch pellet and hay till they were over the weaning process. After weaning they were switched to a balanced TMR ration of oat/barley silage along with the County Junction pellet. The bull pen is very diverse this year with a variety of calving ease bulls, performance bulls, bulls that excel in maternal traits or combination of all 3. The family is doing great, the 5 grand kids are growing like weeds even in these drought conditions they didn’t slow down. Jordan and Britt are busy with their 4 kids going to sports and school activities, Jordan clipped all the bulls which is appreciated lots. Kris and Cera keep busy running after little Parker, they are going to get busier as they are expecting twin girls in the spring. Make sure you hit Kris up and remind him of all the double things he will need to buy in the future for those girls. Darcie bought a house in GP and is working for the city and has been coming out to help on the farm on her days off. Mom still lives on the farm and has slowed down lots but still loving the country living.

We are so lucky to have the Klassen family as our sale partners, not only are they sale partners but are good friends and a lot of our beliefs with both family values and the cattle business align which makes it a pleasure to host this sale together. As the families grow its exciting to see what the future holds for both ourselves and the Klassens. It takes a real big team not only the two families but a lot of good help of friends and neighbours to host this sale so thankyou very much to all that’s helped out.

Our sale offers a unique payment plan option of ½ down sale day with the other ½ due Nov 1, 2025 interest free with a post dated cheque, free delivery in the Peace County. Our JayDawn bulls carry the Guarantee if your not happy then neither are we call us up if there is a problem and we will get it resolved, we also carry spare bulls at home to help out if a wreck happens to make sure your cows get bred. The cattle will be available for viewing starting Wednesday evening March 11th prior to the sale at Evergreen Park or anytime at the farm leading up to the sale, just give us a call and you are welcome to come view them in their pen at any time. We are honored to have the following sale staff that is available to help you in a confidential manner with bidding if you cannot make the sale or need assistance. Darryl & Riley with Bohrson Marketing, Yancy, Dean & Mark from VJV Auctions and Marty with North Central Livestock Exchange. Again we will be offering online bidding thru DLMS, videos of the bulls will be posted on Cattlevids.com prior to the sale.

Ourselves along with our good friends from the Klassen crew would personally like to invite you to the 23rd Northern Classic bull sale on March 13th down at Evergreen Park in Grande Prairie to start at 1pm We hope to see you at the sale!

Farms

Caliber

This mating with Caliber really clicked on the Fortune 983G cow. Born at just 90 lbs and weaned off at a whopping 1050 lbs in early September, raised with no creep and during one of the worst droughts that we have seen in a long time. This bull is super deep sided with a ton of natural muscling to him. He is so smooth made through his front 1/3rd and puts it all together so nicely in an attractive sound package. He ranks in the top 10% for weaning weight and the top 4% for yearling within the breed. His dam gave us a full sister this year born at just 80 lbs in January and is already looking the part of an excellent replacement . The 983G cow has a perfect udder and is moderate in her stature with excellent feet. The Fortune cow family is one of our best cow families on the farm. This bull could be used in a variety of programs, one thing for sure keep all his daughters you will be glad you did.

Sire: RF Caliber 014G

Here is a super long smooth made son of Boomer, a bull that we have used for a couple of years now with good success. The calves are born easy, up quick and grow really well, we calved out the first Boomer daughters this year and we are very happy with them, nice udders lots of milk and great mothers. 7N’s dam is a really nice black baldy cow with a perfect udder, 948G is a larger framed cow that stems back to Fullblood genetics on the dams side, this cow family is known for their production. When 7N got on the scale at weaning and again at a year old we knew he would weigh up exceptionally well as he really filled the scale up. These bulls that are extra long made with more frame really push down on the scales. If you are looking to add a little more frame and length to your calf crop with out sacrificing calving ease then look to this Boomer son to get you there. We sell our calves by the pound, extra length and frame equals more pounds.

Here is a larger framed Bentley son that is super long and smooth made, he too will give you calves with that extra performance without giving up the calving ease. Bentley has worked so well in our program and can be mated many different ways. We used Bentley on 985G in hopes of getting a female out of her to put back in the herd. 985G is a bigger framed VooDoo female that’s as good footed and nice uddered as any cow on the farm. These VooDoo cows are solid producers bringing in some of our biggest calves every year. If you are looking to increase your weaning weights in the fall 20N will do just that, his daughters will make excellent cows

Sire: Rf Boomer 262K
Sire: IPU Bentley 81F

Kingpin

Here is a pair of twin Kingpin sons that are out of Heidi 457B, the Heidi cow family are very productive cows that are super fertile with lots of milk. Dispositions are excellent in this cow family along with excellent feet. They always bring in top end calves each year. These are the first Kingpin sons that we have brought to town. The Kingpin females in the replacement pen are right at the top of the pen. These two bulls are very similar in their makeup, moderate, stout made with lots of hip when you get in behind them. You choose which one is best for your program or better yet take them both home and put them to work.

Here is a pretty neat calving ease bull sired by Folson Prison who we ai’d a few heifers to and had great success with him at calving. Born super easy lots of vigor at birth and grew well. 35N is a very complete made calving ease bull, super nice headed and smooth through that front end. He is stout made on a moderate frame and has some thickness when you get behind him. He is out of a Bentley female that has a really nice udder, she stems from the 983G who is the dam of the lot one bull. He ranks in the top 35% for calving ease, top 20% for birth weight and then in the top 20% for both weaning and yearling weights. Pretty good numbers for a calving ease bull. Use him where you want to you won’t be disappointed.

Folsom Prison

Here is the next calving ease bull by Folson Prison, this guy has a little more jam to him in his build compared to the 35N bull which probably comes from his young PayDay dam. Super stout made, correct in their makeup and a ton of hair best describes these Folson Prison bulls. 30N’s dam 380L gave us a heifer calf in January sired by Kingpin and is one of our top heifer calves, she stems from the Heidi cow family known for fertility, production, good feet and gentle dispositions. This bull should give you easy calving and give you calves that grow well.

Sire: Mader Folsom Prison

This picture of this bull does not do him justice so make sure you check out his video when it comes out, we didn’t spend much time in picture pen as a storm had rolled in. This is one of the larger framed bulls in the pen, super long made with lots of rear quarter when you get behind him. Super wide across the back and a nice head to him. He is out of the 705E cow who calved again in January with another bull calf, she has a real nice udder and tons of milk. This bull will up your weaning weights and leave you with excellent replacement females.

I wasn’t going to put this guy in the sale due to his short ears and that was the only reason. Jordan clipped him up because he thought he was to good of a bull to leave at home and he was right. Super stout made with a ton of hair, very easy doing type of bull that is very sound in his makeup. Check out his pedigree he too is also out of the Fortune cow family one of our best cow families on the farm. His dam 602D is a big powerful Riddler cow that has a really nice udder. 46N ranks in the top 3% for weaning weight and in the top 1% of the breed for yearling weights.

Hawkeye

This Hawkeye bull has all the makings of a calving ease bull, nice small head and really nice fronted and smooth made. This bull would work awesome on a group of 2nd calvers and who knows you might even be able to move him to the heifer pen on year two. He will give you peace of mind at calving and will work on a variety of cows. His dam has a ton of milk and really good footed she is out of the Rampage bull who we used in the heifer pen for a couple of years with really good results.

Dimensional

Here is two embryo bulls to the Dimensional x Annie mating one comes in a black version and one in red. Super soggy and super stout made, these bulls have a ton of middle and are so easy fleshing. Lots of hair and out of one of our stoutest made red baldy cows on the farm. The Annie cow family is one that we have flushed with great success. We also flushed the 16X cow, this cow family has super good feet, lots of milk with really nice udders and dispositions that are second to none. If you are looking for a bull to add some middle to your cows and raise replacement females then look to one of these two embryo sired bulls by Dimensional

Here is a dark red cherry son of Protest a bull that we acquired some semen to use because of the Tycoon / Sage 506C mating. The 506C cow that has done so much good for the breed and is in a lot of the best animals pedigrees when you start looking. This bull is super stout made on a smaller frame but puts in all together exceptionally well, he would be a great fit for a group of second calvers. Check out his pedigree as he has Red Mountain on the cow side, another bull that put a lot of excellent females into the industry and was also a calving ease bull. Keep every daughter this bull gives you they should be some of the best replacement females you will find.

11N has been one of my favourite bulls since the day he was born. Deep dark cherry red with a ton of hair, this super long made bull should garner some friends on sale day as he was always one that got picked on tours. He is the only bull in the pen sired by Big Energy, we wished we had more but we ended up with mostly heifers which are right at the top of the replacement pen. Lots of performance here without sacrificing calving ease, his young Brooks dam is solid red with a perfect udder and teat size. These super long made bulls really add pounds to your calves come fall, don’t miss out on this guy if you are looking a red bull

They don’t make them any darker red than this guy. Tons of hair, this super long made bull is also one of the pen favourites. He is moderate and stout made and with his flashy color everyone tends to gravitate towards him. His young dam is also sired by Brooks who left us with very sound functional cows with really nice udders. Brooks females really moderate the birth weights while maintaining exception weaning weights. We had purchased the Othani semen to use on a flush and ai some of our top cows. This bull will leave you some awesome replacement females and some top end steers to take to town.

Sire: Mader Big Energy 87J

This bull very well could have started the red division in our catalogue. He is super long made, has a little more frame to him with a ton of wavy hair. He is stout made when you get behind him. He has a really good disposition and gets it honestly from his dam who is super easy to move around the farm. She is 11 this spring and has never missed a beat, really nice udder and her teat size is exceptional even at 11. Never had her feet touched and just gets the job done year after year calving in the first cycle every go. We calved out 31N full sister this January and she looks awesome.

Here is a dark red cherry son of Protest a bull that we acquired some semen to use because of the Tycoon / Sage 506C mating. Keep every daughter this bull gives you they should be some of the best replacement females you will find.

Here is one of the first Maverick sons to sell, Maverick is a bull we bought from Siroski Simmentals, he has surpassed all of our expectations and will be continued to be used on our purebred simmentals in the red program. The Maverick bull himself is super long made and has a ton of extra muscling to him, after being pulled from breeding he really matured and stayed in excellent condition after a harsh summer of drought like conditions. He is super easy doing with excellent feet and disposition. 53N is smaller in stature and would work excellent on a group of 2nd calvers, he is stout made with lots of natural thickness. His dam is a smaller statured female that stems back to the same cow family as the previous bull in the catalogue. This bull will calve super easy and give you low maintenance females to put back into your herd.

Here is another Maverick son that’s loaded with natural muscling. Super long made, very structurally correct with a real nice hair coat. He is out of a really nice built female that we bought out of the Friday Night Light sale in Old’s a couple years back from the Hoegl Livestock program. She has matured into a long stout made cow with a perfect udder with really good feet. If these Maverick sons mature the way the sire is maturing you will be super happy with them. This bull can be mated to a variety of types of cows and you will be happy with the results

Sire: BNS Mr Maverick 96L after running cleanup on 60 cows till mid June/ early August in drought conditions
Sire: BNS Mr Maverick 96L

Very stout and moderate made best describes this Maverick son. 41N has tons of natural muscling in a very complete package. His dam is a smaller stout made Bentley cow that cows back to a cow we had in our embryo program. For guys that like to calve on the grass or have a little more peace of mind at calving 41N should do the trick .This bull would work excellent on a group of 2nd calvers to calve easy and grow well.

These Maverick sons are very similar to each other, moderate stout made individuals. 38N combines the red and fleck genetics, his dam is a star face fleck cow that is out of Treasure Island a bull that we used in our program for a few years with great success. She is moderate frame size with a really nice udder on her. 38N is another candidate that would be great to use on a group of 2nd calvers.

Another Maverick son that fits the mold of the rest, moderate stout made with

Dark Cherry Red with a nice blaze, 15N is an attractive young herdsire that gets noticed lots when people come thru the pen. Long smooth made with a nice wide topline to him. He has a quiet disposition and is always around when we are working in the pen. Out of a really nice female that is moderate in stature with an excellent udder, teat size and teat placement with lots of milk. We have calved out a few Loyalty females and they have superb udders and are making really good mother cows. This cow family has been around for a number of years at JayDawn, sound functionable cows that get the job done year after year. This bull will leave you with a tremendous set of replacement females and a fancy set of steers to take to town.

Little different color pattern to 39N not sure what part of his pedigree this came from because we have owned several generations on the dam side and they have all been solid colored. Usually the spotted cattle don’t make the keeper pen unless they are really good. 39N is super stout , super soggy and quite unique in his makeup, he has been a farm favorite from day one. Loyalty has worked well for us both on the bull and female side, his daughters that we have kept have really nice udders and are good mothers. 39N’s cow family has been one of our better cow families that stem back to the 16X cow that we flushed successfully. Either you love or hate spotted cattle, but when your good your good no matter what color you are.

Sire: LFE Loyalty 836H

24N is a solid colored Reddington son and out of a really good cow 244Z. 244Z was 13 when she raised this guy, never helped her calve, never helped a calf suck and never had her feet touched all the while bringing in a top calf year after year. Unfortunately she got mastitis last year due to a stick injury and we had to sell her last fall. We were hoping for another heifer from her last spring to put back in the herd. This is the 8th bull from this cow to come to the Northern Classic bull sale selling to some of the Peace Countries top cattle producers. Don Hollingworth 2015, Randy Pocket 2016, Diamond K farms 2017, Balisky Farms 2018, Ed Johnson 2021, Keith Wilson 2022 and full brother selling last year to Dean Hollingworth and Robert McQuaig.

Here’s a mid February Red Hawkeye son out of one of my favorite cows on the farm Fortune 122J. 122J is a beautiful Bentley cow that could very well end up in the donor pen shortly. Really nice long moderate stout made cow with a really nice udder. I said it earlier in the book the Fortune cow family is one of our best cow families. Super fertile , excellent udders, good feet and just flat out produce. This bull is probably one of the hairiest bulls in the pen, super soggy made and is getting better and better as he matures. This bull will leave awesome replacement females and a tremendous set of steers.

Boomer

Here is a long smooth made son of Boomer and out of a really nice Odin cow 428B. Odin was used in the heifer pen for a couple years and worked extremely well for us. To top it off he left us with some awesome replacements that had really nice udders and excellent feet. They all added the blend of calving ease and performance to their calves. This bull will calve extremely well and would be a good one to use if calving on the grass or wanting a little more calving ease in your program.

Another Boomer bull that has some muscle and thickness to him. He is

1N has been a standout individual from day one, always had that look to him. 1N has a really nice small head and a super smooth frontend making him a candidate for a calving ease bull. He is really deep sided and smooth made yet carries enough substance to him. He gets out and moves so freely on excellent feet. He is the result of an embryo mating between 606D a perfect uddered cow and PCC Bourban one of the breeds top herdsires which resulted in a really consistent flush, we have two full sisters in the keeper pen that are right at the top of that pen and won’t be leaving the farm. A full brother sold in last years sale to the good cattle operation of Peter Doerksen up at La Crete.

Probably the deepest sided and soggiest Charolais bull in the pen. This bull has been a standout right from day one and never looked back. He has a ton of performance to him. Excellent gains in some of the toughest conditions we seen last summer due to drought. He is out of a smaller framed Visa cow that has a perfect udder and really good feet. This guy was tough to picture in the picture pen with his docile nature, so he needs to be seen in the video or in person to see just how good he actually is. This bull will add the pounds to your calves without sacrificing calving ease.

33N is a long made bull that is chalked right full of natural muscling. He too has been a standout from day one, these Jake sons are moderate and stout made bulls. 33N’s dam currently has our best heifer calf so far in 2026 out of the Husk bull. 201H is a larger frame female with the brown pigment on her udder and a shot of French Charolais back in her pedigree. These Jake sons will work on a variety of cows and give you a tremendous set of buckskin or silver calves to take to town.

42N really patterns the 33N bull, long made with a ton of natural muscling. These Jake sons are very similar in type in their makeup. Born at just 80 lbs this bull hasn’t looked back weaning off at 845 in some of the toughest conditions we have seen due to drought. We lost his young dam on pasture just before weaning, she had a perfect udder and a bright future ahead of her with producing a bull like this one. These Jake sons should put some natural muscling into their calves.

Another soggy stout made Jake son that will be easy to find sale day. Lots of natural muscling in these Jake sons. They were all born easy and grew exceptionally well. 27N is out of 220K a young cow that stems back to the 519C donor cow that has done so well for us. This pedigree is stacked with calving ease, performance and maternal traits all in one package.

Here is the only King Louie son that we have on offer this year as the other one we had slated got injured in the chute while getting clipped up for the sale. These Louie sons would work extremely well on a group of second calvers, they have built in calving ease in the pedigree and lots of growth. Their sire was used in the heifer pen for two years with great success until he had a hip injury. We calved out the first Louie daughters this year, awesome little mother cows with really nice udders and lots of milk their future looks promising. This will be your last chance to get a Louie sired bull, a bull that combines calving ease and performance with maternal traits all in one package.

Another Jake son that appears to be the calving ease kind, nice small head and smooth front end. We used the Jake bull on a few well grown heifers with excellent results. This bull would fit nicely on a group of second calvers as well and who knows maybe even move to the heifer pen on year two. The 259K cow is a young cow that’s going to mature on the larger side, she does have some performance in her pedigree she has a real nice udder and lots of milk.

Heres a super long smooth made bull out of the Mayfield bull. Lots of growth and performance in this pedigree on both the top and bottom side. Out of the 716E cow that stems from our embryo program that goes back to the great 117M Fairytale cow that did so much for our Charolais program. We calved out our first Mayfield daughters this year, really nice udders and looking like they are going to make top notch females for our Charolais program. This bull will add some stretch to your calves that will perform excellent.

36N is closely related to the previous bull 8N, both these guys stem back to the great 117M Fairytale donor cow. Another long stout made Mayfield son that’s wide over the top line and carries his thickness down into that lower quarter. Excellent hair coats on these Mayfield / Symbol mating sons. The Symbol cows that we have on our farm have been some of our best producers always bringing in the heavy weights in the fall. Whether you want to just sell Char calves or put replacements back into the herd check this guy out you won’t be disappointed.

Mayfield

Long smooth made Mayfield son here that has a really nice small head and smooth frontend to give you easy calving at calving time. Low birth weight on this guy of only 88 lbs which is typical of his dam. She is a really nice made cow with a good udder and feet and is super fertile calving on the first go every year. We calved out a full sister to 12N this year, she has a really nice udder with lots of milk and looks like she will be a good addition to our Charolais herd. Check this bull out he could be a good fit if you are looking for calves that are born easy and grow well.

MAVERICK 556C

Here is one of the last Bud bulls that we will bring to town, we lost Bud last year to a hock injury that he did not recover from. The Bud bull worked well in our program giving us calves with extra performance and frame and with that comes extra pounds. 43N is a long smooth made bull out of a big Maverick female that has a real nice udder with the brown pigment. This end of January born bull will add some pounds to your calf crop.

Here is the youngest Charolais bull in our offering, born the last day of February

Welcome from Willow Creek Simmentals

On behalf of everyone at Willow Creek Simmentals, we would like to Welcome you to the 23rd annual Northern Classic Bull Sale. We are excited to join forces again with the Mcquaig family for another years bull sale. First of all we want to thank all of our bidders and buyers from the past year. Without the support we have received from you, we would not be able to do what we do. We truly do appreciate it.

It is a very exciting time to be in the cattle industry. We are finally seeing all of the sleepless nights calving, the days waiting for it to rain so we can decide if we will have enough feed or not, the minus 30 days out feeding and every other struggle we might endure become worth it for these record high prices. I do not think there has ever been a time that there might be more enthusiasm in the cattle industry as there is now. This fall and winter has really proved that these high quality genetics shine through and really do bring a premium. We have seen big steers bring north of $4300, and good high quality replacements upwards of $5500.

We are super excited to bring this pen of bulls to town. It is without a doubt the most consistent and high quality group of bulls top to bottom as we have produced. I know you will probably think that we say that every year but its the honest truth. Our philosophy is that if you are not progressing each and every year then you are taking a step back. We strive for the best. We owe a lot of this years bull pen quality to the incredible job our new herd sire Dunlop has done for us. He truly has taken our program to another level and I think when you view them sale day you will be impressed. He has certainly been worth every penny of what we paid for him, they truly are impressive. Again we have a handful of flush embryo bulls that features a trio brothers by Captain Morgan and the great 167C cow who has produced many high sellers the past few years. Our embryo program allows us to expand the genetics on our top cows to get more sons and daughters out there for you, our customers to maximize on. We also have a sons by the proven bulls like Elite, Future, Popeye, Certified, Walking Tall and Caldwell. Our cowherd consists of 125 cows that include red and black Simmentals, a small black angus herd, and a group of commercial cows. We are constantly looking for ways to improve and find that through Ai and our embryo transplant program we have been able to do this. We put in a big effort to try and picture as many of the cows this summer as possible so that you can see the factories of these bulls for yourself. As you can see in the pictures we concentrate on udder quality a lot, as well we put a lot of emphasis on foot quality. Like the past 6 years we have fed these bulls a high roughage TMR ration that consists of an oat/barley mix silage, along with chopped hay and the starch free Country Junction Pellet. We feel this ration has allowed these bulls to grow out to there potential and stay athletic. Each and every year when delivering bulls I make a point to look at the past bulls purchased from us and have been really impressed with the way these bulls have held up and matured.

The weather looks to be nicer as we close in on the sale, so we encourage anyone with some interest to come out and take a tour of these bulls in there natural environment. We really like to show off the cows of these bulls when people tour so you can see the quality of the females behind these bulls and what you can expect on your females to follow. We look forward to visiting and seeing everyone in at Evergreen Park on March 13th. Do not hesitate to reach out to Mike or Colby with questions on the bulls.

CoolaBella2025

A few years back we set out to purchase a red herd sire that we felt could really improve our red program. Our search took us to Maxwell’s where we located Dunlop. After viewing a few other Landmark daughters at a few different farms, I was super impressed and Dunlop vaulted to the top of our list. To say Dunlop has exceeded expectations has been a real understatement, he has blown the roof off things. Dunlop has become a household name in the Simmental breed in a short period of time. At the 2025 Ladies of the Peace Sale, 3 Dunlop daughters lead off the sale averaging an impressive $16,000 between ourselves and our partners at Balisky Farms. This combined with the excitement that was already swirling when his son, MMWK Legendary 99N was named the FarmFair International Ultimate Legends Simmental Champion bull and Top 5 overall Finalist. All of this lead to Dunlop semen commanding an impressive $475 per dose at the New Years Resolution sale. The excitement is real though as his first calf crop is everything we hoped for an more. Dunlop has added an incredible amount of length to his calf crop, impressive muscle shape, strong foot quality and structural soundness, and a true herd bull presence and skull design. Dunlop sired cattle are free moving, athletic bulls that will cover a lot of cows with ease. We maybe have not used a more consistent breeding bull in our 30 years of raising Simmental cattle. These Dunlop bulls are impressive in every aspect. Right from the start we had always thought Dunlop’s biggest strength might be his daughters and we still feel that way. Dunlop’s impressive mother has been producing high quality calves at Maxwells and again this year, her son was one of the most decorated show bulls in Alberta and will certainly be a big time feature red bull to sell anywhere in Canada. Our Dunlop daughters are impressive as they are big bodied, hairy, really docile, excellent footed females that will prove to be productive. We cannot wait to show off this first group of Dunlop sons.

We are very excited to present Legendary 99N to the public. A true performance bull, the type that the simmental breed has been known for and maybe have got away from a little in recent years. He provides that fresh and total outcross pedigree that has become so hard to find these days. It will take a lot of miles to find a bull that is this incredibly long bodied, has this much explosive muscle expression, he carries his depth and mass all the way through out, he moves with such ease as he hits his stride for such a big bull. Foot quality runs generations deep in his cow family’s, I have always said his mother would arguably be the best footed cow in our entire herd. Then we turn the page to the udder quality of the cow family that is second to none. This is a huge reason why his grandam 101C is our main donor and why we will also flush Legendry’s mother as well. That and the shear production records from each and every daughter. At last years Northern Classic the high selling bull was a 101C grand son and the second high seller was a direct son. A few years back the lead off and high selling bred heifer at the Ladies of the Peace just happened to be a maternal sister to Legendary selling for $12,500 to Andrews Cattle Co in Saskatchewan. Legendary himself put himself on notice when we took him to Farmfair where he was crowned the Ultimate Legends Champion Simental bull and a Top 5 finalist overall. We feel Legendary 99N is as intriguing of a bull as we have ever produced, ad we plan to utilize him in our own program. Performance bulls like this that just check off so any different boxes just don’t come around very often and we are sure proud to have raised him.

Dunlop

I would bet that we have taken more pictures of this guy right from the start then any other bull in the sale. Right from day 1 he was a stud and showed off is immense muscle mass, incredible length and herd sire presence. This is what our vision was when we purchased Dunlop for $47,500 that we could produce bulls like this. You truly have to appreciate what this bull has to offer, the muscle shape, the length, the color, the attractive head, the hair, the testicular development, the foot quality, the list goes on and on. I think you could argue that Dunlop’s crossed back to the Red Whiskey influence may be the best cross we have found for these reds. His dam is a big volumed, red baldy cow that is very good footed and has excellent teat size and placement as you can see by her inset picture. This is the type of bull that never goes out of style and one I certainly expect to have a ton of friend’s on sale day.

A true beef bull that can change a program in a lot of ways. He has the power to increase weaning weights while maintaining the sought after money stripe. Yet he is so royally bred maternally that he will leave an impressive set of daughters. His dam would be one of the very best cows on the farm, with an impeccable udder. The udder quality runs deep in this cow family as well as production as a ¾ sister to him lead off the Ladies of the Peace last fall and was the high selling heifer calf at $17,500. 95N is a soggy made, big ribbed bull with so much style and presence. They say that these caves with the added style and presence catch the buyers eye quick and he will certainly add that as well. A pen of steers off this guy will push the scales down and his daughters will be right at the top of your replacement pen. I promise you that you will not want to miss out on this guy.

Dam: MMWK Ms Pearl 9H
Dam: MMWK Squeak 95H

Without a doubt the longest bodied bull that we have ever raised and i could argue that i have even seen. And that length correlates into added pounds which 66N has shown where he boasted a 945lbs weaning weight on September 9th and a yearling weight of 1420lbs on December 31. 66N would also be the largest framed of the Dunlop sire group but for having the extra frame and length he does not give up any body shape or thickness. He comes with a modest birthweight, and an excellent EPD profile. His Tycoon dam would be one of the favorite red cows on the farm and if we had a whole herd like her we would be very happy ranchers. If your in the business of selling females or just take great pride in your cow herd, get this guy bought because i feel his females will be something to brag about.

47

We have never used a bull that has bred so consistently over there first calf crop as what Dunlop has did here. When you get to the sale you will be blown away after you start going through the pens and bull after bull are this high quality. 54N would again be one of the bigger framed bulls which runs from this cow family as he and 66N would be 3/4 brothers. 54N has that thick haircoat made for this Northern Alberta winters. I have really admired the foot quality on this bull all winter and its bred into him as his Lotto mother is excellent footed and uddered as well. One cool fact about this bull is that his maternal sister was our consignment to the World Simmental Sale where she sold for $15000 to Ashworth Farm and Ranch. She was really admired there for his structural soundness, foot quality and shear power. 54N is a smooth shouldered, clean fronted bull with that added presence and muscle shape again. He will be popular among the cowboys.

Dunlop

You could make an argument this may be the most pure performance red bull in the pen. He is just big in all aspects, big hipped, big topped, big crested, big footed, big boned. We sell our steers by the pound and its quite evident pounds pay, this is the type of bull to do that. Right from a young age he was a standout and was picked by visitors. We have a full brother again this year thats following the same. No surprise to see this performance as the Red Gal cow family has been putting big time performance bulls through this sale for years. I would say no cow family from Willow Creek has put more high seller through this sale in the last decade then the Red Gal family. Dunlop really knocked it out of the park on this brute.

The consistency of these Dunlop sons just keeps shining through. 30N is another moderate made, thick Dunlop that is mothered by a very good Lotto cow. You just cant beat a Lotto daughter as year after year our top calves are mothered by a Lotto daughter and the mother to 30N is one of the best ones. I would bank on 30N leaving an exceptional set of daughters without giving up the muscle shape you need in your steers. Nice modest birthweight and adequate performance all backed by a great cow.

Sire: NUG Dunlop 11L
Dam: COLB Monique 30G

Another dark red, long made, masculine built Dunlop son. This is becoming a real trend with these Dunlop sired cattle. 13N is another moderate birthweight bull that pushed the scale down at weaning. His dam is a beautiful Red Power cow that has become a real favorite cow around here. We really appreciate these Red Power cows, they have awesome udders, good feet, added frame and length and can really produce. Her son last year sold up to Peace River to Aaron Fords good herd. This pen of red bulls really is an impressive group.

Dam: MMWK Tango 13J

Dunlop

Most likely the darkest bull in the sale, this liver red Dunlop son will be popular come sale day. I know i sound like a broken record but you just cant help appreciate the consistency these Dunlop sons have. 49N has big square black feet, has a masculine head and crest, large testicles, a little more frame in the Dunlop sire group and a very good momma cow behind him. He is one of the younger bulls in our offering and boasts one of the higher adjusted weaning weights. His dam has been a excellent producer as she is the grand dam of the 128N bull, we also sold her daughter last fall in the Ladies of the Peace for $14500 tot S and S Simmentals in Eastern Saskatchewan. This cow has consistently passed this cherry red color on to the majority of her progeny.

When we pictured bulls I said this guy is just a spitting image of Dunlop at the same age. He is impressive in a lot of different ways as he is huge hipped, has some added style and presence with the way he carries his head, dark red, wide topped, big barrelled. He is a younger bull in the pen but i have stated from a young age that he maybe has the most potential of any of the Dunlop bulls. He has a little more twist in his pedigree as he has a shot of fullblood on the bottom side which i think adds to his soggy build. His mother is an Element daughter and although we only had a few Element females they have been exceptional cows. We have sent 2 maternal brothers to Warkentin Farms, and another son to Todd Donaldson. This is a damn good bull!

Dam: MMWK Sara 49G
Dam: MMWK Red Grace 113D

A very deep sided, soggy Elite son that will garner son attention as we close in on sale day. Everyone preaches that we need that white face to differentiate these Simmental genetics at the auction marts and Elite has consistently added that sought after white face. 12N should continue the trend just in a red package. We are calving out our first Elite daughters right now and they are beautiful young cows. We cant wait to get even more in production next year. This Elite/ Popeye combination also created a high selling bull in last years sale and is showing it is a proven cross that works. Big, soggy made, stylish white faced calves will always be in high demand and with the prices at an all time high, get this guy bought and reap the rewards.

56

Wow, talk about a meat machine!! You can see it in his picture but you truly need to see him in person to see how incredibly stout this dude is. He has been this way right from day 1, you could see that extra thickness. I think everyone would be fighting to have a set of steers sired by this guy. When the bulls went through on the cement for weighing in January, this guy was one of the better footed bulls with good black feet. Again this another one of these good Elite x Popeye combinations that has really worked well. His mother is a very good ½ blood Popeye daughter that in typical Popeye fashion has an excellent udder and feet under her. I can already picture how many people will be crowding around this tank on sale day. We missed him on DNA testing but i would be pretty confident in him being Homo Polled but was just missed on the tests.

57

Sire: RWR Elite 56K

We have been using KWA Future for a few years now on heifers and actually just bought more semen because we like them so much. We have been big fans of these Future sired cattle, typically they are dark red, huge nutted, hairy, good footed cattle with masculine presence to them. This would also really describe 302N. Not to mention he is off just a first calf heifer and he weaned off September 9 at a whopping 860lbs. If you follow the numbers side of things he also provided a strong EPD profile as well. His dam is an extremely good young Launch daughter, she is exactly what we had hoped for when we purchased Launch. The Launch daughters truly are impressive. This bull was missed as well on DNA testing but he is multiple generations polled.

Full Brothers 320N & 44N

I am not sure I have seen a pair of twins that are so impressive. Truly so identical in there make up, that without tags you could not tell them apart. We have had a lot of interest in this Sim/Angus deal and when it produces bulls like this it really makes sense. Both these bulls have a lot to offer, a ton of middle and capacity, thick topped, awesome feet, attractive fronted, and docile attitudes. There dam may be the biggest cow on the farm but she has so much capacity. We sold a full brother as a high seller a few years back to long time customers at Ridgevalley Colony. I am a huge fan of this pair of bulls. You may just need to get both bulls bought because I’m not sure you can pick which one is the better option.

Sire: DMM International 54D

A pretty cool Dunlop son that is the natural calf off our highly productive MAF 167C donor cow. If you have followed the sale the past few years, 167C has really taken the sale by storm where her 5 sons to date have averaged just shy of $14000, a number that could increase after these 4 impressive sons take the ring. 167N himself is a moderate framed, stylish made Dunlop son who is cherry red, stout made, moves with ease and strides out well. Every time we run the bulls through the barn on the cement we check all there feet for foot quality and i feel each time this would be the best footed bull in our entire offering.

Without a doubt one of the more intriguing red bulls we have brought to the Northern Classic. Captain Morgan has been as tried and tested as any sire in the past decade and they are still popular because they are so consistently good. The neat part here though is that there hasn’t been to many high end red sons from Captain Morgan let alone a dark red baldy. You really have to appreciate how deep middled and soggy Maximum 354N is, but he is still super stout, structurally sound, moves well, has a thick hair coat and good footed. He has been shown successfully when he was 3rd in a very competitive class at Farmfair and then he cleaned house at the Peace Country Beef Congress where he was the lead bull in the Champion Pen of 3 bulls, Cattlemen’s Choice Champion Bull and then finally Slapped the Best in the Peace Supreme Champion. As you will see he is mothered by the great MAF 167C donor who has been such a consistent producer. A cool twist in pedigree for red cattle, big time performance and he’s just flat out good. This bull has a ton to offer whether he ends up in a purebred herd or a commercial herd, he will elevate it to a new level.

Dam: MAF Pashmenia 167C

Maternal BROTHERS Lots 61-64

You really have to appreciate the consistency of this flush on the 167C donor to Captain Morgan. 3 very high quality bulls, and 5 impressive heifers were the result. We sold one in the Ladies of the Peace sale last fall where she brough $15000 to Triangle Stock Farms. We also sold a full brother last year as a high seller to our good friends at Haywire Farms. 79N is a moderate made, high capacity bull that is really stout, and hairy. I cant help but admire the foot quality and sound leg structure under him as well. Bulls of this quality never go out of style.

Cattlemans Pen of 3 - 79N/208N/354N

Big soggy black bulls like this are always popular. We could go on and on about what this 167C cow has done for our program but when it comes down it, these 4 sons really just prove it. She has sent sons to Wallgren Farms, Clifford Land and Cattle, Codesa Colony, 2 to Ridgevalley Colony, and Haywire Farms. That’s a list of some pretty impressive operations. Foot quality has been extremely strong in this cow family and 208N is another prime example of that. This year we took all three of these Captain Morgan et sons as our Pen of 3 at the PCBC where they were crowned the Champion Pen. That just proves the consistency of these three sons.

64

$20,000 Maternal Brother

Easily one of the big performance based bulls we will sell this year. 49N is a large framed bull with a ton of middle, a big wide top, sound footed, packs a big scrotal, just a lot of bull and a lot to like. He would have been the most impressive baby calf we had last spring before the cows went to grass and he hasn’t really slowed down. Sired by the 2024 High selling Certified 1L bull that commanded $20,000 to Wallgren Farms and Clifford Land and Cattle. We have continued to use Certified more as he sires some very stout made calves that have a ton of hair. 49N is a true half blood being mothered by a big framed purebred angus cow that has been a great producer. We have sold sons to Dan Wiebe and Darren Hawkes. This trio of Sim/Angus bulls are exactly why we started this portion of the program and why we will keep it up.

A powerfully constructed black bull that was the second heaviest bull at yearling weights where he crushed it down to 1460lbs on December 31. You really have to admire the muscle expression and dimension this bull has. He stands on big, square feet, he really is a spitting image of his sire. You may remember 2 years ago we lead the sale off with two flush mate bulls, Certified 1L went to Wallgren Farms and Clifford Land and Cattle, this guys sire, Walking Tall 120L went to Codesa Colony. What a job Walking Tall has done so far. We only had 2 calves by him, this guy and a $15,000 high selling heifer at the Ladies of the Peace Sale which is actually a ¾ sister to this fella. His mother the 406B cow is still producing here at 12 years of age with another full brother to this guy. 406B has a lengthy production record with sons having sold to Lee Stevenson, Jason Lange, Richard Martins, Randy Pockett, and a daughter to Maxwell Simmentals. His picture really does not do him any justice, its big performance bulls like this is what we here at Willow Creek feel we are known for up in the Peace region.

Dam: PM Lucy 49’20

The second of these two powerful Certified sons. Like his dad, 32N is a big ribbed, thick made bull with a lot of thick straight hair. Bulls like this is why we have continued to use Certified. 32N is a very good footed, free moving bull that is going to cover a lot of cows and sire some soggy steers. We are in a time when we get paid record dollars for our calves and i think its important to capitalize on these powerful bulls to maximize profits. The dam is a hard working, heavy milking cow with a nice udder that truly does put everything into her calf. We sold a very good son a few years back to Warkentin Farms.

bw

This would be the lone Popeye son this year. Popeye has become popular in the North Country for siring heavy muscled, excellent footed, big nutted bulls and to be honest the Popeyes have been the most popular sire group we’ve ever had. 98N is a younger bull that is wide topped, big nutted, thick haired and excellent footed. A full brother was our second high seller a few years ago to Maverick Livestock. His mother is a deep bodied Missile daughter. The few Missile cows we have had have really produced bringing in top calves every year.

bw

Probably the biggest framed, longest bodied black bull in our offering. As you can tell that additional size has really added some pounds as he was up there in the top at both weaning and yearling weights. Elite has really put awesome feet on his progeny and now that were seeing some daughter in production they have excellent udders and have some of the top claves off our young cows. 18N would actually be a ¾ brother to last years high selling Elite son at $18,000. The grandam of this bull, 42H has been one of our best producing Popeye daughters and has maybe the best black bull calf again this year. If you want to add some stretch and frame to your calves then 18N is a very good option. Bonus he will keep the horns off and make them all black.

If you were to ask me which bull in our offering would be the best female maker. I would probably say it would be 57N. When we purchased Elite, Josh Tyler told us more then once that we better keep all of his daughters. Now that we are seeing them in production, we are super impressed. They are big bodied, perfect footed and have awesome udders. We cant wait to get even more daughters in production next year. As you can see in the inset picture that the mother of 57N is an impressive Lotto daughter, arguably the second best Lotto daughter in the herd behind the our main donor 101C. The capacity, foot quality and udder she has takes her to the top and we have some very good footed and uddered cows to compare to. If every cow in our herd looked like 57F, we would be in great shape. The added bonus in 57N is he just happens to be one of the biggest bulls in the pen as well. As you can see by his picture he is really deep sided, big nutted, and rugged made. I will mimic Josh and tell you to keep every daughter out of him and in a few years you will see a big difference in your cow herd.

You wont get a more perfect baldy. A definite spitting image of his dad. Masculine through his head and crest, long bodied, and looks just like that picture. Throughout the summer and into fall this was one of the most powerful bulls in the pen, just as his weaning weight shows. He has slowed up a bit now since weaning but a bull that still demands your attention. He is a little more moderate then the other Elite sons but still packs some punch. His grand dam is one of the other top Lotto cows. This cow family has been very productive, a maternal sibling to 47N is one of the stoutest baby calves we have right now and looks like he will be a real feature next year. I would expect the udder quality on the daughters of this bull to be second to none. He is going to have some friends sale day.

One of the biggest bulls in our offering. So much length and middle in him, added frame, this seems to be the No Limits type. The part that really separates this bull is his dam. 101C is without a doubt the best cow on our farm. Not only is her production record impressive, her handful of daughters are really turning it on. Daughters have produced the lead off Legendary bull this year, the high seller last year, a past LOP high seller, plus many other top end females we have retained. 101C progeny have impeccable feet, the daughters are perfect uddered, easy doing, gentle tempered and highly productive. Arguably the best 2 replacement heifers in our pen are full sisters to this bull. They are Impressive!! Owning a 101C son will only improve your bottom line production wise and performance wise. We have sent 101C sons to Dallas Frank, Mitchell Cattle Co, Ridgevalley Colony, and Maverick Livestock. I encourage you to stop by and see what 101C is doing in our program and you will make sure you want to own a piece of her.

What a cool calving ease option. There is just so many things to like and I’m not sure what’s more exciting... The fact he is a bomb proof, Homo Polled, Black baldy calving ease sire starting at just 68lbs, growing to 755lbs at weaning on a first calver, and his epd calving ease numbers. Or that he is mothered by an extremely powerful cow that is going to take our black program to a new level. We purchased 3015N as the lead off bred heifer out of the Kt Ranches production sale for $22,000 and what an investment that has turned out to be. She is everything we wanted, elegant fronted, huge middled, beautiful udder, excellent feet, extremely docile, has tons of hair and very fertile. We flushed her as a 2 yr old and she produced 14 #1 embryos and we have a handful of impressive calves on the ground now again. South Point 15N has that small calving ease head, smooth shouldered, nice boned, yet still has enough shape and performance to give you some calf afterwards. The other intriguing factor that makes him such a great calving ease option is that his dam has consistently produced early gestation calves as all 7 of her calves this year came about a week early, or more. Buy with confidence, this is an exciting calving ease candidate.

This is probably the best black angus bull we have produced yet. And he’s a heifer bull. We have been very pleased with the Caldwell calves we have. They come small and absolutely take off growing. Just what you want in a calving ease sire. 307N is out of our Angus donor cow, 37B who at 12 years old now has a perfect udder still, a youthful look, high capacity still and she has the true angus character look. We flushed her to Caldwell and have this bull and got 3 heifers. We sold a full sister as the high selling Angus female at LOP last fall for $11,000 to our god friends at Rafter SJ Angus. The two we retained are beautiful, high performing, big bodied heifers that have a bright future here. We also have an absolute STUD of a Baldridge Badger ET son by 37B that is already gaining a lot of attention from visitors, even Simmental guys are taking note of him. 307N is an incredibly long bull that has style and presence to burn, stout hipped, huge scrotal, smooth in his lines, free moving. We are relatively small in the angus breed an don’t have many numbers but this guy is certainly worth the trip to Grande Prairie. He has so much to offer in the industry. He is the real deal.
