Well, another year has come and gone and it’s getting time for a bull sale. We are happy with this group of bulls and it has been fun watching them change and grow. These guys have been on free choice hay and grass pellets and we are happy with their consistent growth and expect they should make great breeders for any situation.
As far as things around here, it was a strange year. It didn’t want to rain at all until the end of June, and then for the next six weeks it never seemed to stop raining. Then when it did stop, stop it did and we haven’t had moisture of significance since early August. But as the dust settles on another year, we managed to grow enough feed and the cows look really good and the grass is OK, couple that with the best calf prices any of us have ever seen and Matt and I aren’t going to complain.
Now we are just about to settle into winter chores and chasing our kids around the hockey rinks of southern Saskatchewan, and we would like to invite you to our bull sale on December 18th. The coffee will be on and the food will be warm.
See you there,
The Jahnkes PO Box 90 | Morse, SK | S0H 3C0

Excellent bull starting the sale here. Moderate made with real nice muscling and shape. I really appreciate the head and eyeset on this bull. His dam, 25E, is a front pasture 157B cow that came in dam from Brauns. This bull would raise high quality cattle for anyone’ s herd.
Quality bull again out of our new herd bull, 36J, which we purchased from Vallee Creek in BC. It was a coin flip for me between this bull and 15M to start the sale. Dam MJ 46G is one of our top cows and a quality 32B daughter, which are always good.
Such good hair and bone on this guy. I’ve been a fan of his since weining and he just seems to get better and better. If you like good yellow hair and a nice feather in a quiet bull, you will like this guy.
good 36J out of a Misty Valley cow that has really done quality work for us. He has really good hair and feet to boot.
Another thick and moderate bull that will look good no matter the season. He is just an easy doing rascal. I really like these 96J bulls as they really seem to have a consistent stamp. Which always helps selling pens of steers.
Very easy doing type of bull. His dam, 66J, is one of my favorites of the Holden 8045-bred cows. Should give you good steers and fancy replacements.
Larger framed bull, but very good. Dam 23E is another of those 157B daughters that came in dam from Brauns. The 157B daughters have been hard to beat around here.
Very short marked bull with goggle eyes. Dam is a cow of Cady’s that gets the job done. 67M should cover lots of cows and look good doing it.
Really good hair and bone on this rascal. His dam, 111B, is still going strong here and will be 12 come spring. Have to appreciate good longevity.
This bull isn’t registered. We bought some purebred cows from Lilybrook Herefords and this one fell through the cracks. Don’t let that fool you though, he is a darn good bull.
Another calf that we bought as a pair from Andy. This one did get registered though. Short marked bull
This guy’s dam, C161D, came from Corbeil’s dispersal and boy is she really good, with a picture perfect udder. This bull is a larger framed bull, should mature into a big boy.
Bigger framed red eyed bull with great bone. His dam has been a high quality dependable cow for us for many years
I really like this 417C son and think he will make a good bull for someone. His dam, 32H, is an excellent cow that goes back to a really good Carl cow.
Another 417C son, we used him for years and years with great success. He finally passed away last winter at almost 10 years old and Carl used him last summer as well. Should be longevity bred into this bull.
I really like this heifer bull of Lane’s, his dam is a really good young cow and she did a great job with this bull. He is smooth shouldered and I suspect will calve heifers great.
LBH 27F BILLY LAD
We bought this calf as a pair from Andy of Lilybrook Herefords. He should work on heifers as well. He is short marked and very quiet.
43J is one of my favorite young cows. I think this feather necked bull will breed a lot of cows and do a really good job doing it.
made big-hipped 36J son. Has that extra rib that should really throw some added pounds onto his steers.
This young bull out of old 188C is one of my sleeper picks, he is moderate in frame but he’s going to be a good bull. I think he is very quiet and easy to work with. 188C was my favorite cow until she cast herself last winter. I miss seeing her around.
The last 417C son we will ever have for sale. That bull has left a real good mark on our cowherd. His dam, 44H, went back to a cow from Carl we called spot hip who was a tremendous cow.
Another good 36J son, dam 4E is a very good 32B daughter who raised the cover bull of our second sale. Should keep all the replacements you want from this bull.
Purebred HEIFER CALVES
Really cool pedigree for this 96J son. He goes back to a cow we bought with Brauns from Churchills in Montana. So an outcross pedigree on this feather necked rascal.

LW MISS THREE FOUR GRAND MISS 82
Smoky is a 12-year-old grey gelding that measures 15.2 hands. He’s been our go-to ranch horse all year. We’ve used him during calving, sorting pairs, brandings, putting out and pulling bulls, doctoring, round up, weaning, ranch rodeos, and halter breaking colts in the round pen. Smoky is the one we ride when we backpack our one-year-old daughter or pony our son, and he’s part of my wife’s remuda. Smoky rides very quiet and he’s very friendly. He handles our little kids leading him, brushing him, and running around with no problems. He’s good to catch, saddle, bridle, trim, and haul. We’re going to miss having Smoky around, he’s become a very valued part of our herd. Give us a call for more information on this great ranch gelding.
