Welcome to Jonomn Hereford Ranch

Welcome to this our 51st year of selling bulls and replacement stock as JNHR. I personally sold my first bull in May of 1968 to Mr. Harold These of Hay Lakes.

A lot has changed since then but a lot has remained constant my ambition to breed and develop a product that commits to the beef producing industry, a well rounded package that provides all aspects of production. For the cow calf man a docile manageable cow that is hardy and adaptable to environment. A genetic cosmetic pattern complimentary and highly accepted in the market place when marketing your calves. As you look threw the book these cattle are one like another generations deep. We’ve analyzed, worked with and been involved with most breeds to consider a change but have been stead fast in developing our unique Hereford cattle to cover all bases of production and marketability as well as any others.

We have always presented these cattle Natural, No Clippers, blowers, or excessive feed. We want our purchases to produce and be recognizable at the end of the season. All pictures are natural and taken in their environment. Feel free to call about any animals, We’ll be there to describe them even further.

Always open to change and trying to bridge the gap in wanting to return to a personal and social event while utilizing the convenience of the FarmGate Timed Auction we will be combining both having an Onsite Racehorse online sale from the Barn. This is so much safer for the stock and certainly less labor intensive.

Come for lunch, cattle all on display be able to bid from your phone in the pens, devices in the barn around the big screens or if you can’t make it still from your home. Mark, Jay and the rest of the sale team will be set up in the barn to take bids and do whatever it takes to look after your interests. The Goal Is to combine the best of both worlds with some great hospitality and visit while still bidding during the close. We’ll try to have a little fun and get you home in good time.

TERMS - The terms of the sale are cash or cheque payable at par to sale consignor at the farm with in 7 days of the sale or at delivery unless satisfactory credit arrangements have been made previous to the sale with sale manager. The right of property & Delivery shall not pass until after settlement is made.

BID - Every animal consigned to the sale must be sold by auction. No private sales will be allowed except as otherwise provided for in the terms and conditions. No by-bidding will be permitted. Each animal will be sold to the highest bidder.

DISPUTES - In cases of disputes, bidding will be reopened between the parties involved. If no further bid is made the buyer will be the person from whom the computer accepted the last bid. The online auction company’s decision in such matters will be final.

PURCHASER'S RISK - Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold. Animals will be cared for at the purchaser's risk for a reasonable time.

ANNOUNCEMENTS on the sale bid page will take precedence over printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are therefore cautioned to pay attention to any such announcements.

CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRY - The proper Registration paper, will be duly transferred and furnished to the buyer for each animal after settlement has been made upon the Buyer Request.

SHIPPING

GUARANTEE - All animals will carry standard breeding guarantee as specified by the Canadian Hereford Association. At no time shall the seller's liability exceed the purchased price of the animal.

EXCEPTION TO GUARANTEE - In cases where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproduction techniques after the sale, the guarantee shall be null and void.

ACCIDENTS - Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of buyers, neither the Sales Management, Jonomn Hereford Ranch and or the Parrent Family assumes any responsibility in this matter and disclaims any liability legal or otherwise in the event of accident or loss of property.

RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS - The above terms and conditions of the sale shall constitute a contract between the buyer and the seller and be equally binding to both. Resale of animals following purchase in this sale shall constitute a separate transaction and the rights and obligations of the two parties connected thereto are not covered by the terms and conditions of this sale.

Pick Up & Delivery

JNHR will offer $50.00 Per head discount to all lots picked up at the farm to a max of $300 per buyer with in 1 week of the sale. This will apply to both Bulls & Bred Heifers.

If you are not picking up your lots please contact JNHR and they can assist you with delivery of the bulls and bred heifer or arrange to keep the bulls until delivery or pick up can be arranged. We will combine or cooperate in any shipments where possible to keep delivery cost as low as possible.

Insurance

After the completion of the sale we will pass your buyer info on to Insurance agents to arrange for insurance on your purchases. We recommended that all purchases be insured as cattle are the new buyers risk as soon as sold.

About the JoNomn Hereford Bulls

These bulls are managed to be active good breeding 2 year olds. Born April and May with no creep, special attention or confinement. Fed and managed in large groups out in the open field behind wind fence. Pictured and presented in their working clothes. They will be totally examined and evaluated by the vets at Westlock Veterinary Clinic and will all sell with satisfactory semen test. In addition all bull are given hoof rot vaccine at semen testing to protect them in breeding season.

As yearlings they ran in a large field, fed high roughage rations and are never fed to achieve big performance to 365 days. Turned out on grass in the summer then started again on cut hay then to silage as the pasture runs out.

We have had good reports that bulls are very sound and stand up well. Buy with confidence, these bulls are targeted to peak in your breeding pastures.

How to Participate in the DLMS Farm Gate

Racehorse Style Timed Auction with Extended Bidding:

For 2023 we will be hosting the Online auction onsite at Jonomn Hereford Ranch in an effort to allow you to view the bulls, join in some great JNHR hospitality and bid on your Phone or to the Sale Representative Onsite during the sale close.

Onsite Bidding Option – Join us onsite and you can bid to a NCL / DLMS Rep onsite. After your bid is turned in to the onsite rep they will bid on your behalf online in the Racehorse Auction. Or if you are onsite and want to create an account and bid on your phone we will have Wi-Fi onsite for bidding on your smartphone.

Online Bidding Option – As you have in the past you can simply follow the instructions below and bid on the lots after the sale opens and until the close starts at 1:00 PM Sale day.

1. Visit www.dlms.ca , scroll down sale list to find the sale you are interested in bidding on. Click on the sale listing and you will be taken to the FarmGate Timed Auction Sale page.

2. After you are at the FarmGate Timed auction site - farmgatetimedauctions.ca, click the LOGIN/REGISTRATION button.

First time FarmgGate users:

- First time users will select the REGISTER button from this page. Fill out the registration form to signup for a free user account and it allows you to select a username and password for use on all Farm Gate Timed auctions. (please note due to some of the text notification features the FarmGate Time Auction Site requires a new account separate account from your DLMS Live sale site)

- After you create your FarmGate account you will receive a txt message with a pin code to verify your account.

- On your first log in to FarmGate Timed auctions we recommend you go to your profile and confirm your notifications are set to YES. This allows the site to send you text and/or email notifications when you are out bid and if there is activity on your favorite lots.

Returning FarmgGate users:

- If you have used Farm Gate Timed auctions in the past simply enter your user name and password to continue. After you have logged in you are able to browse the timed auctions on DLMS FarmGate Timed Auctions.

3. How to Bid

Now that you are logged in and your account phone number / email is verified you are able to bid on an upcoming sale. Simply find the lot you are interested in bidding on. After you have found the lot there are 2 options for bidding on the lot.

- Place Next Bid – to place the next bid on the item, you see the amount in the first box, you simply click the “Place Bid” button and after you review the bid and agree to the terms and conditions your bid will be placed.

- Max Bid Amount – to place a max bid you put your max bid in the second box listed as “Max Bid” on the item, and then click the “Place Bid” button and after you review the bid and agree to the terms and conditions your bid will be placed as the next bid. With the Max Bid placed the computer will then keep you as the high bidder to the max amount you have placed. This can be a great feature if you are not able to give 100% attention to the sale close out and protect your interest so you do not miss out on any lots you want to purchase. The Max Bid amount is completely confidential from the seller during the sale process.

Example of How the Max Bid Works - If the lot has a $2000 bid on it and you place a proxy bid of $3500 into the system, the computer will bid $2100 for you but if some one else bids $2200, the computer will again bid for you, this time at $2300. The system will look after your interest to a maximum of $3500. If another bidder is on at $3600, your proxy will no longer be effective and you will no longer have the winning bid on this lot without once again logging in and bidding again or moving your attention to a second lot of interest. Please note that in some cases a lot value can change very quickly if 2 max bids are placed on the same lot competing against each other.

4. Watch List Feature

If you have items in multiple auctions or only a few from the same auction that you want to watch with out having to scroll through the entire list you can add the lots to your watchlist. On each lot you will see the “eye” button beside the bid button, by clicking this “watchlist” Icon that item is added to your personal watchlist for easy viewing of just your favorite lots in this sale or on the entire site.

5. Sale Ending / Closeout

Most FarmGate Timed Auction sales close racehorse style with extended bidding.

What is Racehorse Style Close?

Racehorse style sale close is when the entire sale stays open in extended bidding. This type of sale allows you as the bidder to change to a different lot within the same sale if the bidding has gone in to extended bidding.

How will Extended Bidding works?

When we get to the close out end time the clock for close extends with any bid placed with less than 5 min on the clock. This type of extended bidding turns the end time to more of a soft time. Extended bidding allows bidders to compete in lots like a real auction and give all bidders the same time to make a decision. Always follow the clock to see how much time remains in the sale you are interested in.

6. Bidding Close & Follow-up

After the clock has gone to “ENDED” and no bidding has occurred for 5 min the computer will declare the sale finished. Following the close typically within 24 hours of the sale close the sale consignor will contact all winning bidders to arrange payment, transfer of pedigrees and delivery/Pick up of your lot. Or as the winning bidding you can contact the sale consignor / sale manager to confirm payment instructions.

Please make sure that your account info is up-to-date and correct if you are the winning bidder of a lot as this is how the billing is sent to Sale manager and/or Sale consignor.

It’s always been my policy to retain and use a bull on the merit of his dam. This bull should not get away but these bloodlines run so deep in our herd that he would see very limited service. Favorite dam freckle face goggle eyed incredible feet and udder that calves in first group every year. This is a real solid bull. Take a second look. Let a feature maternal sister get away to Mexico last year.

Carter 8C son that displays a very balanced profile front to back. Very sound and correct. Gentle and pleasant to be around. A sleeper in the offering when he gets away from this big group of bulls he will really develop into a strong sire. Full brother to the 369F herd sire at JNHR

Analyze! Can’t imagine what this bull would be like had he been Fitted, Fed, and Played with Individually. Walk him in to a ring just the way he is. Sired by another Feature Service Sire in our 2021 Sale JNHR George 225G that sold to Marvin Branden and Family – Barrhead and is doing a bang up job on Black & Black Simmental cows. Sire to dam 352E also Feature service sire and sale bull in our 2019 sale to Rochford Farms –Vermilion. 300E and impeachable Carter 8C daughter. The heifers in this offering like others are the image of their dams. We maintain our herd at 180-190 cows abling us to provide a nice group of replacement heifers that are capable of producing, the kind of bulls in this sale. They’re well grown out bred to our program, of course at times nature seems to interfere but for the best parts all reports have been very favourable. I haven’t commented on them individually, it tends to get repetitious and boring, they are pictured natural and representative of what they are. Every effort will be made to arrange pickup or delivery to you as soon as possible after the sale.
