Welcome to our 2022 Sale!

First, we need to recognize that our first generation, Grandpa Jim and Grandma Dorothy, have moved off the farm and are adjusting to full retirement in the Hanna Lodge. There is never a day that goes by that we don’t appreciate the efforts and ideals they had to begin the ranch and to help build it to where it is today.

Another interesting year to say the least has gone by. Despite pandemics, heat domes and the highest feed costs in the history of the cattle business, the eternal optimism of those around us in the cattle industry continues to motivate us to offer top genetics that will bring profitability to our customers.

This January born phenom was purchased in August of 2017 at the last Cattle Call, for $20 000 in partnership with B Bar Cattle of Saskatchewan and Red Oak Farms of Australia. His progeny can be found as herd sires in some of the leading programs in the breed. Cracker sons and daughters portray exceptional calving ease, volume, length and muscle shape while combining presence with gentle dispositions where you have to push them out of the way. B BAR/HAWKEYE STING 47F ET B Bar/Hawkeye Sting was purchased in 2018 in partnership with Pinnacle View Limousin of Quesnell, BC. This Richmond Zodiac x B Bar Foxtrot 21B son is a full brother to the Oscar bull we own in partnership with Conners Bros., Hanna, AB. Our strategy in purchasing these full brothers was to build a female base that consistently produces the disposition, hair, structure and muscle shape that this proven line has offered the breed. Sire of Lot 3, 5, 10, 13.

B BAR BENTLEY Bentley is one of the most interesting herd bulls used in our program.

Purchased in partnership with Pinnacle View Limousin in the 2017 ABC Bull Sale from B Bar Cattle Co. at $32 000 with American semen rights going to South Fork Ranch of South Dakota and Franseen Limousin of Wisconsin. He was a young sire trait leader in gestation length, weaning and yearling weight. While we were hugely disappointed to lose him to injury as a two year old walking bull, he has sired over 140 offspring in some of the leading herds in Canada. His USA semen inventory is sold out. Canadian and Australian qualified semen is still available through ourselves or the Kishkans of Pinnacle View Limousin. Sire of Lot 11.

B BAR SLATE 17C We invested in Slate in order to moderate birthweights, improve udder quality and advance overall soundness while maintaining the disposition and true Limousin character that our cattle have been noted for. It has been satisfying to walk this big time herd bull and see him deliver on so many of the counts. He is easy to handle, holds his condition well and has serviced up to 30 cows on our hard grass pastures. Sire of Lot 7, 16, 18.

TREF ZIPPER 644Z The Treft bull has become somewhat of a journey man at our ranch. He continues to produce stout, sound, highly fertile offspring. A herd bull that has never been near a trim table and stamps his bull calves with true Limousin character. Sire of Lot 4, 6, 8, 14, 17.

New location, but the same great bulls…

Thank you to the Andrew family again this year as they take on the 2022 bull sale and let us tag along for the ride.

Again we faced a lot of challenges this year with ever changing restrictions along with the drought conditions in our area and the skyrocketing prices if you had to grow or buy feed for your animals. The farmers and ranchers out there deserve a lot of credit for hanging in there.

We are still excited to bring you the best of the bull pen for the upcoming sale, the boys are all red this year, but we should have a couple black bulls for next year’s sale. The group is pretty uniform and as always have a nice calm disposition. We truly hope our customers will feel comfortable coming to the ranch for viewing prior to the sale, or sale day at the auction market in Brooks- the animals will also be available for online viewing for those who might not be able to make the sale in person. We really appreciate the continued support from folks that remain committed to our bull breeding program.

We will have on offer 14 purebred red and 1 limflex red bull.

They are a well balanced group and have grown nicely. We’d like to Thank Lorne Bodell for clipping Jill Renton for videoing and photographing the bulls, and Jelle van Stee for helping with picture day. The bulls are all semen tested and health checked by the vet, and will be ready to go to work for you in your breeding program.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS TERMS The terms of the sale are cash or cheque. Settlement to be made immediately after completion of the sale, payable at par to Bow Slope Shipping Association. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement is made. All settlements must be made with the clerk before any cattle will be released.

BIDDING Each animal will be sold to the highest bidder. No bybidding will be permitted.

DISPUTES Bidding will be reopened between the parties involved in the dispute. If no further bid is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision on all disputes will be final.

ANNOUNCEMENTS All announcements made from the auction block will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue.

Buyers are therefore cautioned to pay attention to such disclosures.

CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRATION Each animal will carry papers issued by the Canadian Limousin Association. A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer for each animal after payment has been made.

HEALTH All animals in the sale have met all necessary health requirements.

LIABILITIES All persons attend the sale at their own risk and the seller and sale manager assume no liability, legal or otherwise, for any accidents that occur.

BREEDER’S GUARANTEE The following extracts from the rules and regulations governing this sale be of special interest to those purchasing breeding stock.

“If in the opinion of the buyer an animal proves to be a non breeder, he must notify Bow Slope Shipping Assoc. within two months after the date of the sale. When an animal is proven by a veterinarian to be a non-breeder, the contributor agrees to refund the purchase price in full providing the bull is returned to the contributor in good physical condition, or to supply the purchaser with an animal of approximately equal age, quality and breeding. In either case, the nonbreeding animal is to be returned to the contributor, and the purchaser is responsible for all transportation and veterinary charges incurred. The contributor is not responsible for damage caused by foreign bodies, nor the sickness not apparent at the time of the sale.”
