Thank you for your continued interest in our cattle. We are excited and grateful to be hosting the Eighth Annual Strait-Hefte Tried & True Production Sale alongside our partners, Hefte Ranch. The support this sale and our Santa Gertrudis genetics have received is something we never take for granted, and we so look forward to welcoming you back to Streetman, Texas.
This year’s sale will again be split over two days:
• Friday, October 17th at 4:00 pm – ALL BULLS
• Saturday, October 18th at 10:30 am – REGISTERED FEMALES
Our family has been blessed to raise Santa Gertrudis cattle for over 70 years, and it is humbling to see the progress and momentum this breed continues to achieve. We remain committed to continuous improvement through careful data collection, extensive use of artificial insemination, and embryo transfer to multiply the very best genetics in our herd. Our goal has never wavered - to raise fertile, functional, efficient cattle with a phenotype that stands the test of time.
We are again proud to showcase the genetics of our customers alongside our own. Previous buyers have the opportunity to consign one female or one exclusive semen or embryo package, and we are honored to feature these outstanding consignments in the 2025 offering.
We believe this year’s sale cattle represent one of the deepest, most exciting sets we have ever assembled. Our females carry pedigrees stacked with proven genetics, while our bulls combine real-world functionality with the kind of genetic potential that could influence herds for years to come. All Strait Ranches branded bulls have been developed in grass traps on the ranch in Streetman, ensuring they are ready to work in your program.
As always, we remain appreciative for the opportunity to continue Dad’s vision and legacy. Our team at Strait Ranches is the backbone of this operation, and we are deeply grateful for their dedication and hard work. Thank you to our manager Francisco “Frank” Garcia for his commitment to Strait Ranches.
We invite you to join us in Streetman on October 17th and 18th sale to view the offering in person. Online bidding will be available through DVAuction.com. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call Yancey (972-841-0989), Frank (Se Habla Español – 979-533-3213), or Callie (210-837-1199).
We are thankful for each of you and for your friendship, sup port, and commitment to the Santa Gertrudis breed. We are also thankful for health, family, rains, lasting legacies, and the power of hard work and dedication that bind us together as cattle producers.
We look forward to seeing you this October!
Many thanks, The Y.N. Strait Family

Dear Friends, Family, and Customers,
First and foremost, we would like to express our deepest gratitude.
To those who have built a legacy in this industry—you have set a standard worth dreaming about and paved a path for the future. Your wisdom and guidance are invaluable, and the example you’ve given us is truly a blessing.
To those who put up with us day in and day out—you know who you are. We’re sorry (kind of), but as you know, cattle are in our DNA. We just can’t help ourselves. For the sake of our relationships, maybe just don’t work cows with us!
To those of you who trust us enough to invest your hard-earned money in our genetics—there is nothing more humbling. We are truly grateful.
With that said, I’d like to share the heart behind our cattle. We believe in balance. We believe in longevity. We believe that depth and consistency are found in the cow herd. We believe strength and change come from the bull battery. Over time, we’ve narrowed down the sires we use to build type and consistency in our cattle, while also bringing in certain bloodlines to fill gaps where we felt improvement was needed.
We don’t breed for short-term results—we breed with a long-term vision. When we offer animals at the Tried &True Sale, we do so with the goal of providing lasting qualities that can make a consistent, positive impact on your program year after year. We realize that every animal doesn’t fit every program, but that’s the beauty of this business! We all fill pieces of the pie.
We are encouraged by the positive feedback we receive, and we are driven by the challenges and critiques. We look forward with excitement to this year’s sale, and we are proud of the cattle we’re offering. We can’t wait to eat, laugh, and catch up with everyone this October.
Glory be to God, Kade Thigpen and the Hefte Ranch Crew

The K18 progeny speak for themselves - they grow quickly, carry a ton of eye appeal, and possess a natural thickness that’s hard to put into words. This is your opportunity to step directly into our program and breed what we are breeding. His dam is one of the prettiest, thickest cows we own, and she backs it up with performance - five calves on a 367 day calving interval. This FC Big Shot and SR Hazel 23/7 son has the “wow” factor, truly an attention getter. He just never stops wrong and always has his head and neck up in the air. Bold sprung, deep body, huge feet and stout hipped are just a few of his positive attributes. He’s striking on the profile and equally as impressive as you study him from all angles. I’m really high on this one and think he has a bright future. Full sib to CL Boudica that has been successfully campaigned by Bar M Farms. As well as the $14,000 female CL Cleopatra from last year’s Tried & True sale. This bull was developed at PX Feeders.
SR URBAN LEGEND 2344/M
2344/M is sired by the Urbanosky 035 “Urban Legend” bull and out of an own daughter of SR 87/7 “Wickham”. 2344/M had a WW ratio of 105 and YW ratio of 102. 2344/M has 5 EPDs in the Top 35%
This rugged-made bull is the kind that immediately catches your eye out in the pasture. He walks with confidence, and his genetic background gives him the ability to back it up. His dam, HEFTE RANCH F47, traces back to the extremely fertile HARRIS FARMS 37/8 cow, a foundation female in our program known for longevity and productivity. F47 has produced six calves on a 377 day calving interval, proving her consistency and fertility, and she is also the dam of one of our most exciting young herd sires, HEFTE RANCH K34. With a 663 lb adjusted weaning weight, this bull combines style, substance, and a proven maternal line - here’s an opportunity for any program to add performance and reliability.
HEFTE RANCH M40
Lot 118
This incredibly stout-made bull stands out not only for his phenotype but also for his numbers—he carries one of the strongest EPD profiles of any Hefte Ranch bull in this sale. His maternal side is anchored by one of our most respected and carefully protected cow families, with his dam HEFTE RANCH H90 setting the standard. She has absolutely perfect teat and udder structure and has proven herself to be one of the most dependable cows in the pasture. Performance only adds to the package: he posted a powerful 765 lb adjusted weaning weight and scanned an impressive 14.65 REA with a 109 ratio. Going back to our A51 cow line, this bull blends elite data, maternal quality, and structural correctness into a total herd sire package designed to deliver both performance and dependability.

The performance in her offspring is consistently at the top of every contemporary group, and the phenotype is equally strong. M42 continues that legacy with a 677 lb adjusted weaning weight and 38 cm scrotal circumference, proving his performance matches his pedigree. HEFTE RANCH M20 is one of the deepest, soggiest bulls we have raised, and if you’re looking to add broody, maternal qualities back into your cow herd, look no further. His sire, HEFTE RANCH K147 TOUCHDOWN, purchased in partnership by Harris River Bend and San Jose Cattle Co. in the 2023 Tried & True Sale, has been a highly anticipated young herd sire, and M20 shows exactly why we were so eager for his calves. Out of a first-calf heifer, he hit the ground at just 75 pounds, then pushed all the way to a 1,255-lb yearling weight, scanned a 14.39 REA, and posted an impressive 4.75 IMF. His EPDs are as consistent and balanced as any bull in this year’s offering. If you need a bull to turn a cow herd around and bring back breed character without sacrificing performance - this. is. him.
5J’S HEFTE THE GAMBLER 05/24
Step into the winner’s circle with The Gambler - a purebred, polled bull with game-changing genetics. This bull gives you the opportunity to “bet on the future” with confidence—backed by genetics that pay off. Not to mention his dam is one of the best KR 191/13 daughters to walk in this breed.

Talk about fertility - 21/4’s dam consistently breeds within the first 30 days of being turned out, proving her dependability year after year. In fact, she was moving up so quickly in her cycle that Jack had to hold her back just to keep her in line with the rest of the herd. This bull is exactly what we want to see from our ET program: a product of a proven maternal line and an outstanding sire that has exceeded every expectation. Though he is one of the youngest bulls in the sale, don’t discount his size or his potential - mark my words, he has all the makings of a leading herd sire for any program.

It is always exciting to see genetics come back around and work the way we expected. This young bull is well made, complete, and balanced across his EPD profile, giving him the versatility to be used with confidence. We would personally use him back on heifers in our program, as his build, bone, and structural correctness makes us think he would be a good fit for calving ease while still carrying the growth and performance you want in a herd sire.

0004M’s dam was a standout in the Red Doc sale the year we purchased her, and she has proven her worth with every calf since. She has a track record of producing offspring with impressive carcass merit, particularly large REA/cwt, and this bull is no exception. He led our spring gain test and backed it up with a 1.25 REA/cwt and 4.56 IMF, putting him among the most balanced and performance-oriented bulls in the offering. OPTIONS AND PRIVILEGES OF RETURN OR ADJUSTMENT
The following adjustments do not preclude the right of the Purchaser and Seller to mutually agree upon other terms and conditions for settlement of any dispute. All claims for adjustment or refund must be made in writing either within six (6) months from the date of sale or no later than when the animal reaches 24 months of age, whichever occurs later, with the exception of claims involving parentage or defects. All returns or refunds will be paid in the form of a replacement animal of similar quality or in credit for use on any products marketed by the seller. a) This credit will be limited to the purchase price less the salvage value of the animal.
1) In the event an animal is claimed to be a non-breeder, the animal may be returned to the ranch of the Seller, at Purchaser’s expense, if in good physical condition, and the return is in compliance with the health requirements of the Seller’s state. The Seller shall be entitled to a six (6) month trial period following the return of the animal in which to prove that the animal is a breeder. If at the end of six (6) months, the Seller is unable to prove the animal is a breeder, the seller shall, at the option of the Purchaser, replace the animal with another of similar value or grant the Purchaser a credit on any products marketed by Seller. Either of these options shall be deemed full satisfaction and settlement. If the Seller proves the animal to be a breeder, it shall be the obligation of the Purchaser to take delivery of the animal and pay all expenses incurred for transportation. 2) If a registered female sold as “safe-in-calf” proves not to be in calf (by the projected due date listed in the catalog or sale day supplement), the Purchaser may receive service from the bull previously used, if available or if the bull is not available the Seller shall be obligated to credit or refund the Purchaser $400. Any adjustment provided for herein shall absolve the Seller from further liability, except in case such female proves to be a non-breeder. If a female represented as “safe-in-calf” at time of sale to a certain bull proves to have been bred to a different bull, the Seller shall be obligated to reimburse the Purchaser up to $600
(adjustments shall not be considered to be a breeding fee or an allocation of the purchase price to any unborn calf). This does NOT apply to any female exposed to more than one bull via artificial insemination and/or natural service. Any expenses incurred for transportation shall be the responsibility of the Purchaser. 3) If a female sold as “open” proves to be with calf, the Purchaser may return the animal to the ranch of the Seller prior to calving for a credit of the full purchase price or for another animal of similar value, whichever is acceptable to the Purchaser. It shall be the obligation of the Seller to bear any expense incurred for transportation.
If a bull is sold and at a later date proves not to be eligible for registration under association rules, the seller shall be obligated to make a satisfactory adjustment on the purchase price to the buyer, refund the purchase price or issue a credit for the initial selling price upon the return of the animal to the farm of the seller.
If an animal is sold and through DNA is proven to have incorrect parentage as represented by the certificate of registration, and for which the parentage can be determined, the seller shall be obligated to make a satisfactory adjustment on the purchase price to the buyer, refund the purchase price or issue a credit for the initial selling price upon the return of the animal to the farm of the seller.
RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS
The above terms and conditions of sale shall constitute a contract between the buyer and seller of each animal and shall be equally binding on both. Other than the guarantees and warranties stated above, no other warranties or guarantees are expressed or implied. Each sale or resale of an animal constitutes a separate transaction.
