SIMMENTAL SALE

We would like to welcome you to the 2023 edition of the Western Choice Female Sale. This is one of the strongest offerings assembled for this sale to date. We have some special choice lots that will add genetic value to many herds across the nation, as well as a great offering of bred females and some open show heifer prospects. Remember junior members, the Simmental Regional show will be in Miles City this summer. We also have a great offering of commercial type, replacement females, both bred and open. If you are looking to add cow power to your registered or commercial operation, we feel confident that you can find something that should fit your operation.

It has been a great year in most of the West. We experienced more moisture than in the past. We have seen pasture conditions improve and winter feed sources are the best they have been in years. To top it off, we are experiencing record level cattle prices.

It is a very good time to start building your cow inventory, so you can take advantage of this great market. The nation’s cow herd is at historically low levels and the rebuilding is slow to come, so we should see these prices hold on for a couple of years. With the increased prices of feeder and fat cattle, we are also seeing historic prices at the seedstock level. However, the commercial bull buyer is becoming more demanding than ever. They are wanting cattle that do it all. So, it is more important than ever that seedstock providers constantly work to raise the bar on their genetics. Now is the time to add a female that you think will improve your genetic base.

We hope you will join us on Friday evening for the Montana Simmental Annual Meeting, and bring the kids for the judging contest on Saturday morning. We purchased TJ 14J as an open weaned heifer for $7,000 at the Triangle J Harvest Select Female sale in the fall of 2021. We quickly realized she would go straight into our embryo program as a donor. She was flushed as a true open heifer and has not let us down since. She has averaged 14.6 embryos per flush to this point and shows no signs of slowing down. She represents a true power female and speaks for herself in every facet. Her first group of female progeny recently sold private treaty giving her an early total of $30,800 of progeny production in the first year with the bull side of her progeny yet to sell as yearlings in the spring of 2024. 14J earns a living on our forest service pasture permit at 6,000ft elevation when she’s not being flushed. This is not a pampered donor cow and what you see is what you get! TJ 14J will be on display at the Montana Western Choice sale for viewing as we offer the first flush outside of Table Rock Ranch and Simmentals own flush work. She will also have two weaned open flush mate heifers offered directly following the sale of her flush! Selling a flush to the bull of your choice.

Guarantee a minimum of 3 transferable embryos from the flush with one pregnancy if implanted by a certified embryologist. All eggs produced in the flush go to the buyer.

Offering this direct daughter of the 983G cow might go down as one of our not so smart ideas in a few years, but here is your opportunity to take advantage of the #1 cow family in the entire LRS program. For those of you who don’t know, we have little to zero tolerance of white on our cattle and this Bred heifer has white on her udder and a small strip between her udder and navel. Her teats are black however. We also believe if we are going to sell one, they better be good and this heifer is flat good. The 983G cow has exploded onto the scene at a very young age with her first seven sons averaging $16,500 at public auction including LRS Rarity sold to Gibbs farms and Baxley Farms, LRS Dutton who sold to Trauernicht Simmentals, All Beef, and is a member of Select Sires, and LRS Cornerstone to Double T Simmentals. A full brother to this heifer sold to Nelson Livestock Company this past spring and was also utilized back into our program. Her other 3 sons were also sale toppers selling to the progressive commercial cattleman. 983G could possibly be the best Eagle daughter in existence with incredible phenotype and genetic excellence backed by the outcross 437B cow and the great 078X cow. She is due March 23rd to one of our two Cow Camp Ranch bulls we had turned out: CCR Anthem Reg # 4028639 or CCR Varsity reg # 3873072. Rare offering from Lassle Ranch Simmentals AI bred to HA CONVENANT 30K (4040505). Confirmed bred and due 2/27/2024. Confirmed bull calf. When we sorted replacement heifers, we kept this heifer even though she has some white, with the plan to sell her in this sale as a bred heifer. A TJ Flat Iron heifer out of an Eagle Daughter who traces back to the old 559R cow. She ratioed 102 at weaning and kept on going to ratio 109 at yearling time.

You will appreciate her for her genetic make up and endless mating opportunities, but also when you evaluate her for her soundness with plenty of shape and brood cow look. Another heifer who would not be leaving the herd if she was solid black. She is AI Bred and carrying a Bull calf sired by HA Convenant 30K reg # 4040505 with a planned mating set of EPDs that are at the top of the breed. Her bull calf could pay for her in the first year.
