Welcome to the Sale Dear Cattlemen,

On behalf of the Cook and Matt families, we would like to welcome you to our First Annual Production Sale. This may be our first sale but we are not new to the purebred business or the cattle business in general.

We started our purebred herd 10 years ago and have grown by selecting females from the Vermilion, Becker and Leachman herds.

In 2019 and 2020,we had the opportunity to buy all of Eric and Marlo Leachman’s replacement heifers, and that has proven to be a good move.

Bill and Codi Cook Family

The last two years, we have entered our bulls in the Treasure Bull Test Sale. In 2019, we had the top selling Angus bull, Cook Spur JM 8825, that sold to Black Pine Farms, Heron, MT for $16,000. Then in 2020, we had the Single Shot Jackpot Champion and top selling bull with Cook Bomber 926G, selling to Bar JV Angus, Fairview, MT for $22,000.

Our program is based on PERFORMANCE. We want them to perform on the range and wean a big calf. We want them to perform at the feedlot level for the feeders. We want them to perform on the rail, as well. We believe there is a difference between calving ease and low birth weight cattle. We are not interested in having calves hit the ground weighing 50 to 60 pounds. We have more problems when the calves come too small then when they come weighing 75 to 90 pounds.

The bulls in this offering all have passed a fertility test. They have been genotyped for increased EPD accuracy and parent verification with AngusGS. They have been on a complete herd health program since birth. The bulls will sell with a First Breeding Season Guarantee.

First Breeding Season Guarantee

All bulls selling for $3,500 or more will be covered 50% by C Spear Angus, if they are injured during their first breeding season. This guarantee does not include death as that can be insured for.

Breeding season is defined as the 60 day period following the first turnout of bulls. Fifty percent of the value of the injured bull, minus one-half the salvage value, will be given credit in a future C Spear Angus sale or toward a replacement bull if one is available. Salvage value, if any, will be split equally between C Spear Angus and the buyer. All injured bulls must be diagnosed by a veterinarian. We also reserve the right to a second opinion by a veterinarian of our choice.

Please notify us as soon as possible should injury occur and prior to the injured bull being sold for salvage. All claims must be made by September 1, 2021.

Spur E143 was the pick of the Spring Vermilion sale by Basin Angus Ranch. He is a bull we used to add performance and carcass merit. Spur E143 is also also outstanding in his maternal and reproductive traits.

Lots 10,11,12,39,40,41 and 42 are all sons out of Vermilion Pattie 1117. We used him successfully on our first calf heifers as well.

Roughrider really worked for us. We used him on our 1st calf heifers and really like the results. The calves came right and really grow. The heifer mates look to be some of the best we have. Roughrider will add performance without giving up the maternal traits that are needed to stay in business.

The Quarterback cattle will sire extra performance. This Bull is no exception. He has been a stick out since birth and to top it off hes out of a VRD daughter that has proven to be a top producer.

This is a moderate birth weight Quarterback that is a no holes kind of bull. His dam WC Lady 5004 is as good a cow as we have. We are using one son and she is now in the donor pen. This is another one that could end up doing a lot of good for his new herd.
