Participants in Synergy have committed to marketing their best genetics and making this event more by working together rather than as individuals. Synergy was developed to be a showcase for the breed. Please come join us.

Buyers will receive two units of semen with each female purchased from any of the bulls owned and collected by that particular consigning Synergy member of that lot. This semen is solely for use on your purchased female. Your choice of semen must be made prior to May 1, 2027.

GLOSSARY

All-Purpose Index (API): Evaluates sires for use on the entire cow herd (bred to both Angus first–calf heifers and mature cows) with the portion of their daughters required to maintain herd size retained and the remaining heifers and steers put on feed and sold grade and yield. Terminal Index (TI): Evaluates sire for use on mature Angus cows with all offspring put on feed and sold grade and yield. Using API and TI: First, determine which index to use; if you’re keeping replacements use API, if not, TI. Then just as with EPDs zero in on the unit difference between the bulls. The difference can be used to determine how much a bull is worth compared to another. Or, put another way, how much you can pay for one bull compared to another. For example, when buying an all-purpose-type sire, you can quickly figure a bull scoring +100 for API is worth an extra $6,000 over a +50 bull if both are exposed to 30 cows over 4 years ($50 diff. x 30 hd. X 4 yr.=$6,000). A percentile-ranking chart is required to determine where a bull’s index value ranks him relative to other bulls in the breed. For percentile rankings or more detailed information about EPDs and $ indexes visit www.simmental.org.

PARTNERSHIP LOTS

In the case of bull partnership lots, the new partner will have first choice to decide what 60 days they will be able to breed the bull. All decisions relating to the possession, showing, promotion, collecting of semen, and marketing will be mutually agreed upon prior to the transaction with both parties dividing all future expenses and net revenue. Female partnership lots will be owned 50/50 with all future production being coowned. The partner with possession will receive $375 per year for maintenance from the other partner. A partner that is selling their interest must give the other partner the right to match any bona fide guaranteed offer prior to selling their interest to a third party. Contract on these lots will be available on sale day.

Welcome to Synergy XIX! First things, first. We are so excited to be adding to our family as Kailyn Capps joins us via her engagement to Kaleb! She’s been a fixture with us for a while, but now it’s official! Welcome aboard, Kailyn! Now to the other stuff. Our ranch is in East Texas, just outside of Henderson, where we focus on quality Simbrah cattle. We are pleased to add Smith Juliet Ashley Rene 215M to our donor pen, Jacob’s outstanding Simbrah show heifer from this past season. We have also put two 321B daughters into production in our herd, Smith TMP Bibi Bella and Smith TMP Let the Bella Shine. It will be fun to see what these three cattle produce. We are offering six lots in the sale this year, perhaps our best all-around set of heifers to date. We are highlighting the progeny of Smith Can’t Stop Being Good 50L, a Simbrah bull that we own with Smith Genetics and a son of Follow My Lead. These five calves are offered as breeding prospects and have excellent calving ease, birthweight, and docility EPDs. We also have one show or breeding prospect sired by Smith TMP Cast No Doubt, who is out of our Priceless Gem 377A donor. This calf is out of Jacob’s show heifer from 2 seasons ago and is fully halter broken and has been shown. All six heifers have been exposed to Smith Head Shakin 14L, a purebred Simmental bull. We expect some very nice percentage Simbrah calves from this breeding. Breeding status will be updated at sale time. These 50L daughters are uniform and balanced, with a calm disposition, clearly patterned by 50L. Even the 377J heifer matches the pattern. Buy one, buy two, or buy the whole set. They’ll make an excellent starter package for someone just beginning to build a herd or someone wanting to quickly expand! All our sale cattle have had tissue samples taken and submitted for DNA verification. You can read more about each of these calves in our sale lot notes. Our show heifer comes with the benefits of our junior program - support at every major stock show, guidance for feeding and showmanship, answers to any questions from our junior showmen and their parents, and access to any of our bulls for breeding. Welcome to Burch Cattle, as we grow our herd, the quality of our cattle improves, thanks to our exceptional sires, Smith Born to Dare and Smith Intrigue. This year, we’re especially proud of our best-ever calf crop. We’ve also ventured into selling meat through private treaty, and the response to Simbrah beef has been overwhelmingly positive. Emily exhibited the reserve grand champion Simbrah female at the Austin Show and we are very enthused about this year’s potential in our herd. We are excited about the future of our program and look forward to what’s to come, both with Synergy and the future of the Simbrah breed.

We warmly welcome everyone to Synergy XIX and extend our deep gratitude to Tim for his unwavering support. We’d also like to thank the juniors, parents, 4-H and FFA advisors, fellow breeders, and everyone who contributes to the success of this event. Our bull battery has been refreshed with new names like Pay It Forward, Royal, Zuko and Harry, alongside our trusted sires like Accelerator, Frosty, Patron, Potential and Powerman. We’ve made some adjustments in our percentages, incorporating more Brahman genetics and then using new Simmental genetics to return to purebred Simbrah. These cattle are performing exceptionally well in the warmer, drier conditions we frequently experience.. We hope you enjoy Synergy XIX.

Just as important, we want to recognize the hardworking junior families who selected Smith Genetics. They not only claimed these championships, but also numerous division titles throughout the season. THE COW THAT BECAME A LEGACY Some great cows leave behind a champion. The truly exceptional ones build a family that keeps producing champions, donors, herd sires and sale features long after they are gone. Smith Bella Bella 326R did exactly that. Bella Bella first established her place in breed history as the 2007 International Houston Champion. Four years later, her daughter Smith Ciao Bella captured the same prestigious title. Then, in 2013, Smith Charming Moves, a daughter of Bella Bella’s influential son Smith Evan, became the first Simbrah ever named Supreme American Breed Champion at the Houston International. Now in its fifth year, the Synergy Scholarship Program awards $1,000 scholarships to outstanding youth, helping support their educational goals while honoring the legacies of the families who make the program possible. The program was launched by the Smith Family of Smith Genetics and the Nieschwietz Family of 7N Ranch, with the Rodrigo Da Silva Family joining the effort in 2023. United by deep interests in agriculture, the families share a commitment to encouraging young people to pursue their education, remain connected to agriculture and become advocates for the industry, regardless of the career path they ultimately choose.

Each scholarship carries a special family legacy. The Smith Family Scholarship honors the lasting contributions of the late Paul and Gertrude Smith. The Nieschwietz Family Scholarship pays tribute to the memory of Pete St. Nieschwietz while recognizing the continuing dedication of Marilyn Nieschwietz. The Rodrigo Da Silva Scholarship grew from Rodrigo’s experience judging the program’s first group of candidates. Impressed by their knowledge, confidence and communication skills, he was inspired to establish a scholarship in his family’s name and continue the program’s mission of investing in the next generation. Together, these scholarships represent more than financial assistance. They reflect a shared belief in the potential of young people and the importance of encouraging the next generation to learn, lead and make a difference in agriculture and beyond.
