The Simmental breed was “first in” to Mountainview and has four excellent bull pens representing this section. The Anderson’s Tymarc Simmentals has really begun to develop a high-end reputation for annually bringing one of the fantastic sets of Red Simmental bulls to town each season.

Their powerful herdbull battery of “Accelerator” and “Crossfire” will be well represented by their sons. The Bar CL gang from Sundre have seriously increased their offering in both quality and quantity. You may notice the effect of their good walking bulls here too as well as a nice “Twin Chief” influence on the bottom side of their pedigrees. Brad Dundas’s Outlaw Cattle Co. have topped the event in the past and have a set of bulls coming, in both Red and Black, that will be contenders to do so again! GSB Simmentals have been breeding Simmentals as long as anyone included here and have most recently been offering some of the best and most highly marketable cattle they have ever had! They also are recently offering more bulls with more quality!

Our cow base is mainly from the Sproule Charolais Dispersal sale where we took many trips to Pincher Creek and spent countless hours analyzing the cows during lactation and after weaning. We made sure that we were only choosing the very best red Charolais genetics and we certainly feel that we have achieved that with this group of cows. We even went as far as to purchase one of the best dark red herd sires in the industry, HTA Tuff Enuff 947W, a bull who has quickly made a name for himself and an individual we are extremely proud to be a part of.

This powerhouse bull was the record high selling bull for the Mountainview Sale as well as the high selling Charolais in Canada for 2013 selling to McLeod Livestock. Pastor has since gone on to be successfully used in some of Canada’s leading Charolais operations. Last fall Pastor sired the Champion pen of bulls at the Alberta Select Show for McLeod Livestock as well as both the Jr and Sr Bull calf champions at the 2014 Agribition show for McAvoy Charolais & Praire Cove Charolais. This Pastor son will be one of the most impressive Charolais bulls to sell anywhere this spring. A couple of years ago we jumped at the opportunity to purchase ½ interest in the great donor female SVY Starstruck 559R from Serhienko Cattle Company.

The 559R female needs little introduction to the Charolais industry.

Most notable of her many achievements is winning the 2010 Agribition RBC Beef Supreme Championship. Her calf at side that year, Starstruck 8X, went on to match that feat in 2012 and a son of 559R was recently crowned Champion Bull at the 2015 Denver Stock Show. Flushing this great female to Pastor has produced very exciting results. Along with Night Sky we have six full sisters we will be adding to our herd ensuring Gerrard Cattle Company will continue to bring the industry the top Charolais cow families in the breed for years to come.
