Spring Free In Faith

Around this time of year, I often hear the buzz of people saying, “It’s time for spring cleaning!” I’ve never been one to enthusiastically approach cleaning. I’ll admit, I struggle in this area. I have spent some time over the past months working on improving those efforts. The work ahead of me was not easy, and I often felt overwhelmed when considering the depth of what I had to do. I found that when I was struggling, if I took a deep breath and said a prayer for God to give me the strength and the will to press on, He would. The result was progress! The great thing about progress is that it inspires further action and leads to success.
The verse that appeared in my devotional today is Hebrews 11:1: “Now faith is the reality of what is hoped for, the proof of what is not seen.” This verse is the perfect example of my hope when I ask God to intervene during my struggles. I can trust His faithfulness. As I continue to work on spring cleaning, I can focus on this verse reminding me that faith is trusting what I cannot see. My goal this spring is to spring free in faith. Learning to trust God when I feel like I am incapable of completing any task sets me free from self-burden.
This concept applies to so much more than spring cleaning. When I commit to trusting God in every action throughout each day, I am free to do the work (have faith) without worrying about the outcome. I can look back at difficult times in my life where God’s faithfulness was clear, even if it took some time for me to see it. I can rest knowing that I am His, and He is mine; I am never without His love, mercy, and grace.
If you are struggling with a difficult task, a difficult decision, or a significant need, I would encourage you to talk to God and then trust that He holds you in His hands (Psalm 139:10). I would also encourage you to seek the counsel of your pastor, a counselor, or a close friend for guidance. When we are faithful in obedience and service to the Lord, He will bless our efforts.
May the promises of the Lord be a blessing to you in any time of struggle. You are one of His chosen, and because you are chosen, you are also empowered to spring free in faith (Ephesians 1:3-4)!
