Get ready for an Outbreak!

few weeks ago, many of our church members began texting me for prayer; entire families were feeling ill. The Spirit of intercession came upon me. I pled the blood of Jesus over my church members. While in prayer, I heard the Holy Spirit speak to me, saying, “There is an outbreak.”

When I heard His word to me, without delay I had a negative connotation. God, knowing what I was thinking, reminded me that we believers are covered by the blood of Jesus and sickness is not our portion. He

He then showed me a vision of a volcano. A volcano can lay dormant for generations and then, seemingly out of nowhere, it erupts. Some of you reading this have prophetic words and promises from God that lay dormant. When you look in the natural, it does not seem like anything is taking place and there is absolutely no change. However, in the supernatural realm there is a stirring, a bubbling up that is taking place behind the scenes.

God says that you are going to experience a sudden eruption of promises, breaking out in many areas of your life. He is breaking barriers that have left you in restricted places. Barricades are being demolished even now. The spirit of delay is broken. We have entered a season of sudden and active manifestation. Past-due promises are being birthed.

The definition “outbreak” is as follows: 1. A sudden breaking out or occurrence; eruption 2. A sudden and active manifestation 3. An outburst 4. An insurrection, revolt, or mutiny 5. A public disturbance; riot The Holy Spirit said to tell His people “the enemy was counterfeiting what He was doing in the supernatural realm. The enemy cannot create anything.

He only perverts what God creates. Begin to declare there is an outbreak of revival! An outbreak of miracles!

An outbreak of open doors! An outbreak of resources!

An outbreak of finances! An outbreak of harvest!”

There is a fiery outburst that will consume every area of your life. In my vision everything the fiery lava touched, it occupied. It could not be contained and it would not be stopped. The obstacles that have been placed in the way of your destiny are now being removed by this outbreak. Your outbreak this year will be like none other!

was speaking something prophetically to me. He was decreeing over His people a positive word.

Hebrews 11:11 says, “Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised.” This is one of my favorite verses.

Sara was “past age,” which shows us that it is never too late with God! She judged Him faithful who had promised it and she conceived and birthed her miracle. Always be mindful that it is not about the size of your promise, it is about the size of your God who promised it.

Andrew Towe and his wife, Brooke, together pastor Ramp Church Chattanooga. They have a daughter, Giuliana, and a son, Gabriel. Even as Ezekiel was carried out by the spirit to the valley of dry bones, Pastor Andrew has been called to speak the prophetic message of awakening to the Tennessee Valley, raising up an army of believers from the dry scattered bones and equipping them to advance the kingdom of God.

The Patience Test

e usually think of tests as ways to determine whether we fully understand a subject. Have you ever thought to test your patience? We learn from Galatians 5:22-23 (NIV) that “patience is a fruit of the Spirit.” Some translations of the Bible call patience “longsuffering” or “endurance.”

Patience can become a challenge to those claiming they are Christ followers. The twelve disciples followed Christ, and scriptures reveal that although the disciples slept a lot, asked foolish questions, and made mistakes, Jesus never complained. He is our perfect example of a man with patience.

What would your test score be if you were graded on complaining? Do you have a habit of grumbling or complaining? At one time, I did. On long car trips, I would whine to my dad, “How much longer?”

Ten minutes

later I asked again. While my mother prepared dinner, I remember saying over and over, “I’m hungry! I’m starving! When is dinner going to be ready?” I never knew how much a mother had to accomplish in a day until I became one. Give your mother a break. She knows you are hungry and probably is fixing dinner as fast as she can.

Patience means to wait without complaining. God must have thought patience was pretty important since it tops the list of virtues in 1 Corinthians 13:4: “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.” Make patience a top priority on your list, too. A good description of love is excellent action, attitude, and behavior. We show love by putting someone else’s needs in front of our own.

Try testing your patience. What kind of attitude do you have the next time you wait in line? Are you patient when waiting for someone to pick you up from an afterschool or church activity?

Is there a classmate who annoys you? I remember a new girl that sat in front of me. Each test day I would hear her pencil tapping on the desk. It drove me bonkers. I never stopped to think I could consider her a gift from God to help me build patience.

God desires to help me and you to have patience with people. Practice patience next time you are irritated with someone or something. If you practice it together with love, it will give you an opportunity to show patient love in your daily life. Start with your family, extend patience in your school, then work on it throughout your community. Before long, you will be more able to calmly accept things and people as they are, and that is a good feeling.

Where Did It Go?

ou receive your W-2 and your first thought is “If I made that much money, where did it all go?”

Hopefully, your next thought is “How can I get a handle on my finances?”

Please consider these biblical principles that will help you develop a plan to tell your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.

First, develop a plan to get out of debt. Proverbs 22:7 says, “The rich rules over the poor, And the borrower is servant to the lender.” As a follower of Christ, we only need to be a slave to Jesus. To eliminate debt, sell

In Philippians 4:19, Paul says that God will meet our needs.

“And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”

But, that promise was made only to those who gave to support Paul’s ministry. In 2 Corinthians 9:6-8, Paul instructs us on how we are to give. “But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.”

So, in our spending plan as well as all of life, we must put God first. Ten percent is a good place to start.

Next in our spending plan should be savings. The key to staying out of debt is to have an emergency fund of at least $1,000. Over time we want to grow it to three to six months of expenses. After you have eliminated your debt, continue to sell what you do not need or continue to work part-time until your emergency fund balance is achieved. Then, plan on saving ten percent each month.

At the same time, develop a spending plan. Proverbs 6:6-8 shares this wisdom, “Go to the ant, you sluggard!

Consider her ways and be wise, which, having no captain, overseer or ruler, provides her supplies in the summer, and gathers her food in the harvest.” Ephesians 5:15-16 also says, “See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.”

With God’s wisdom, we can budget our income to provide for our needs. Our needs are food, shelter, clothing, and transportation. Everything else is just a want.

There is hope. You can learn to manage money wisely.

You can learn to give, save, and spend within the limits of what you earn. And as you practice this discipline, you will see that you have the ability to give to those in need.

Then, you will see that it was worth it to adjust your life to the principles given in God’s Word. If you cannot see how you can make this work, reach out to a Christian Financial Coach who can help you achieve your goals.

everything you do not absolutely need. Get a part-time job. Cut your expenses to the bare minimum. Pay off your debts from the smallest balance to the largest. Once you become debt free, cancel all of your credit accounts so you can remain free of debt.

Now, divide your remaining income between housing (25%), Utilities (10%), Food (15%), Transportation (10%), Clothing (5%), Medical (10%) and Personal (5%). These are just guidelines. Adjust to your specific situation. But make sure you care for your needs and not your greeds.

hen we think of a frontline we often think of those in uniform. They are those closest to the enemy, fighting to protect something. We admire their bravery and boldness.

As men, we naturally find ourselves longing for that frontline experience. We want that excitement, and that pride, and responsibility. We want to experience the rush of a win.

Not all of us take to the Army for that experience.

Many men take on that frontline challenge in the form

of careers, family matters, and spiritual leadership.

Some men take it all on! Kudos to those men who take on a challenge by the shoulder and look it in the eye. It is honorable and exciting to take a role of accountability and ownership. It fulfills this void of purpose we perpetually attempt to fill. While it is certainly exciting being on the frontline, it also brings immense pressure.

This pressure is so intense at times that some men leave it all behind. They leave their families, their work, and the uncertainty of it all. As we find ourselves in these places of high responsibility, it is easy to forget

that there is one that goes even in front of us. Earlier this week I was talking with a friend about a relationship issue I was having. I named all the things I had done in efforts to rectify this issue, to no avail. This friend looks right at me and says, “Well, have you prayed about it?” To be transparent, I got irritated in that moment.

My pride flared up and I wanted to say “Now what good will that do here? I’m responsible for this. I need something done now!” But then the spirit came over me and showed me something.

Men, we are not the true frontline in our lives. In John 15:5, Jesus explains that he is the true vine and we are the branches. He says, “Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.” Too easily, we forget what our order of responsibility is. God goes before man. As leaders, we will have responsibilities, and people may come to us as their frontline, but as leaders, our frontline is God. His ways are higher than our ways and His thoughts higher than our thoughts.

As we stay close to God, we can give Godly direction. God’s productivity and protection are unrivaled.

For those men who have abandoned their hopes out of the fear of failure or not knowing what to do, I want you to know that there is one who goes before us. If we will just acknowledge him, he will set our paths straight (Proverbs 3:6). James 1:5 says our God is generous and will grant you the wisdom you ask for. It is never too late to ask God for wisdom and turn around as Samson did. You are loved.

Seed Bearer oman, you are the seed bearer. We are told in Genesis chapter 1, that God proclaimed that man and woman would have dominion over creation. We are told that God created the woman to fulfill a lack in man that no other creature could fill.

Woman was the seed bearer for humanity. She contained the seeds of the destiny of the race. Man could not do what she was meant to do. Man prophetically gave woman the name Eve. Scripture says this name relates to her ability to be the life giver of mankind. The

Hebrew word for Eve (Chavvah) also comes from a root word that means to make known/declare/breath. Was this in reference to her speaking to the serpent or could it have a more spiritual undertone?

Woman was made with better facility with words and the ability to be the bearer of seed. Scripture relates seed to words and more specifically to the Word of God. Woman, you are to bring forth spiritual life with the words you speak. Proverbs instructs women to speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves; ensure justice for those being crushed. Yes, speak up for the poor and helpless and see that they get justice (Proverbs 31:8-9).

Eve was the one to bear the destiny of the race. In the process of giving birth, she understood the period of waiting from conception to birth. She knew the expectation of life while she waited and prepared for the child that would come from her physical body. The child in her belly was a reality in her mind.

Women are uniquely made to understand the process of faith to bring forth what is desired. The writer of Hebrews tells us that “…this trust in God, this faith, is the firm foundation under everything that makes life worth living…our handle on what we can’t see. The act of faith is what distinguished our ancestors, set them above the crowd. By faith, we see the world called into existence by God’s word, what we see created by what we don’t see” (Hebrews 11:1-3).

Faith seeds planted in the spirit, spoken by the mouth, with expectation of fulfillment brings forth what is desired.

A promise moves from being a spiritual reality in the heart, to a physical reality.

Time may pass during the process, but the fulfillment is assured because the Good Seed of the Word of God will produce what it was intended to produce.

Jesus said to the disciples, “Have faith in God. I tell you the truth, you can say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen. But you must really believe it will happen and have no doubt in your heart. I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours” (Mark 11:22-24).

Woman, speak forth God’s Word with the assurance that you were made to create life.

Commands and Expectations ave you ever felt like you couldn’t meet someone’s expectations? Whether it’s a teacher, boss, or loved one, we’ve all had a moment in a relationship where no matter how much we tried, we fell short of what someone else wanted us to do or be. That feeling of disappointment can poison our perspective on that relationship as well as our sense of self, and often it’s manifested as fear, shame, or anger.

This has been my attitude towards some of God’s commandments. For most of my life, I have struggled against anxiety. One of the first days of my second semester of college, I found myself talking to a professor, trying to explain how anxiety might affect how I perform in his class. Predictably, he told me to open up my Bible (he was a religion professor) to Philippians 4:6 which says, “Do not worry about anything.” He went on to explain how this was written just as it sounds here, in the imperative, as a command, not as a suggestion. He said command, and I heard expectation. Immediately, I felt more anxiety and guilt instead of relief. “Cool,” I thought. “This is basically like telling a drowning person, ‘hey, stop that!’” I felt

a little angry, too – how could God place such a high expectation on me when I was already desperately fighting fear?

Although I made peace with that semester, I’ve never been able to completely shake that attitude towards God’s commands to not fear or not worry.

I felt condemned, like His words were just another impossible expectation. My perspective changed while studying Hebrews 2, which talks about how Jesus suffered everything that we suffer on earth so that he would be able to be empathetic and even sympathetic with us. He endured every temptation and affliction, every effect of sin, but withstood them. Why? He was fully God on top of being fully man. And when He left the earth, He left behind a piece of the Godhead, the Holy Spirit, so that we, too, could stand up against temptation, fear, and the like.

One verse I reference often is Romans 8:11 which says, “If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will give life...through his Spirit that dwells in you.” The same Spirit that brought a dead man back to life is the Spirit that’s living in me! That’s the power that God gave me to be able to overcome fear and anxiety.

If that’s the case, the command, “Do not worry” or “Do not fear” is not a condemnation of what I can’t do but a reminder of what I can do with the power of the Spirit!

My goal has been to retrain my brain to read the commands in Scripture not as unreachable expectations but as invitations to remember who God is and who I am in Him. His power is too real for me to live in anything less than confidence.

rom its beginnings in 1929 and through its many transitions, the Catoosa County Chamber of Commerce has grown and has adapted to best serve the ever-changing community. The Chamber has been the voice of business for Catoosa County, serving its members and focusing on business, tourism, workforce development, and economic stability. As the visionary leader, the Catoosa County Chamber of Commerce promotes business and community development in and around Catoosa County.

The vision of the Chamber is to be the leading voice of business and economic development in Catoosa County.

The Chamber helps its members succeed and grow through its programs and partnerships, consistently works to overcome barriers to future progression, promotes a healthy and positive business climate to encourage economic development, enhances overall quality of life and standard of living, and promotes the educational, historic, and cultural resources of Catoosa County and the region.

The Catoosa County Chamber of Commerce is a non-profit organization, with a 20 member Board of Directors. The Chamber works closely with local and state government officials, large and small local businesses, educational institutions (Catoosa County Schools, Georgia Northwestern Technical College, and Dalton State College), law enforcement, as well as many non-profit agencies providing services for area residents throughout the county.

Currently, the Chamber has about 375 members; 85% of its membership is small businesses of 20 or fewer employees.

The Chamber also offers many sponsorship opportunities for members to promote their businesses through email communications, internet presence, and Chamber events.

The Chamber of Commerce is the largest organization in Catoosa County supporting business. The Chamber holds many networking events throughout the year. LEADS Groups are held five times weekly, including a virtual session. Chamber Ambassadors work to promote businesses

through Member of the Week celebrations and Restaurant of the Month recognitions. The Chamber hosts Networking @ Lunch events, Business After Hours, the Catoosa Women’s Network Luncheons, and Cards and Coffee networking events at local businesses. The Chamber has three annual events: Celebrate Catoosa Gala and Casino Night, which will be on March 2, 2019, Catoosa Golf Classic at the Windstone Golf Club in August, and the Showcase Catoosa Business Expo each October. The Chamber also hosts ground breakings, grand openings, and ribbon cuttings for member businesses.

With a staff of four, the Chamber accomplishes much of its annual Program of Work through the use of committees made up of Chamber members who volunteer their time and energy to activities that promote their businesses as they give back to the community. Committees include the Business Development Committee, the Education Partners Committee, the Leadership Catoosa Committee, and the Legislative Committee, as well as the Chamber Ambassadors. Committee members maximize their investment in the Chamber and let their voices be heard.

Active Chamber members increase their business visibility within the community, have a multitude of networking options, gain a voice in government, make business contacts, and have more opportunities to promote their own businesses.

The former President and CEO, Martha Eaker, retired as of December 31, 2018 after 12 years of service and many years as a Chamber member, volunteer, and Chair of the Board. Amy Jackson became the new Catoosa County Chamber of Commerce President and CEO as of January 1, 2019. She has been with the Chamber for almost three years and has served as the Membership Coordinator. Prior to her time with the Chamber, she worked for Catoosa County Government at the Colonnade. She and her husband Greg and sons Eric and Evan have been Catoosa County

residents since 1999. Amy firmly believes in shopping local first and supporting local businesses whenever possible.

Amy Jackson also serves on the Board of Directors for the Catoosa County Benevolence Committee, Stocking Full of Love, the North Georgia YMCA, Catoosa County From HERE to CAREER! Academy, and Catoosa County Schools Partnership Steering Committee.

One Habit at a Time love new beginnings, don’t you? While I am not a fan of New Year’s resolutions, I do love the fresh feeling a new year brings. There are so many possibilities ahead of us in the new year it can sometimes seem daunting, especially when it comes to our health. Below, I am sharing two tips that are sometimes overlooked, but can make a significant impact on your fitness goals and, more importantly, change your lifestyle.

Hydration is KEY! Our bodies are mostly water, yet many of us are in a constant state of dehydration. We fill up on sodas, sweet tea, coffee, and diet drinks, all of which actually dehydrate us. Being hydrated is a key

element to losing weight (and keeping it off), thinking clearly, sleeping better, and overall better performance.

What to Do: Aim to drink at least 1/2 your bodyweight in ounces of water. If you weight 180lbs, you would want to drink at least 90 ounces of water each day. The easiest way to do this is to get a water bottle with ounce marks. If I have clients who are really struggling with getting their water intake in, I encourage them to set reminders throughout the day.

Don’t Slack on Sleep! Studies show we need at least 7-9 hours of sleep each night to function optimally.

A lack of sleep can wreak havoc on your mind and body. In fact, poor sleep habits can prevent you from losing that weight you have been working so hard to lose and keep off. Not getting enough shut-eye at night can cause our body to produce less of the hormones our bodies make that tell our stomach it’s not empty. So, when you’re running on 4-5 hours of sleep you are likely to feel more “hungry” during the day and some studies even show it can affect your decision making habits (similar to being intoxicated!) when it comes to food.

What to Do: Like any habit, you must be consistent.

Start with going to bed 30 minutes earlier each day for a week, then increase to an hour the following week.

Keep going until you reach 7-9 hours each night.

This can take some dedication, but the results are worth it. Another factor to consider when putting your new sleep habits to work is how much screen time you are consuming before bed. Multiple studies show that using your phone before bed can be disastrous for your sleep. Be proactive about setting a time each night to turn your phone off or put in another room and stick to it.

Setting health goals don’t have to be daunting, starting small leads to greater results. Take these tips and start implementing them into your current routine. One of my favorite Bible verses is 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 which says, “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price.

Therefore honor God with your bodies.” We have been so amazingly blessed to be given a precious body by our Creator. Be kind to your body and to your soul by treating your earthly home well. Remember, we only get to live this sweet life once - make it your best!

Gò0dNews for Teens Take Advantage of Your Teenage Years ased off of the title, you may be thinking this is just another article written by someone sharing their personal experiences of being a teenager and warning other teens not to waste their teenage years like they did. This is not one of those articles.

This is written by someone who took advantage of their teenage years and did not fit in because of it. If you are a teen reading this and feel lonely because this describes you, I hope you find encouragement in these words and remember not to give up.

Our culture constantly tells young people that since they are young, they should just party it up while they can. Whenever we see a young person in the news for doing something against common sense, our response is often, “Oh, they’re just kids.” I believe teens are capable of so much more than what our culture says they are.

A lot of my teenage years were lonely because I did not spend time going to the parties, trying to be in the popular crowd, or trying to be involved with the latest gossip or trends. Now that I am in my mid-twenties I see how my actions as a teenager set me up for what I am doing now. Your teenage years are the launch-pad for your twenties. I spent my time working hard in my studies, developing my communication skills, and spending time with God. Those habits have carried over with me.

As I have watched my generation grow older, I see that many of those who wasted their time in their teens are wasting their time in their twenties and will continue to do so for the rest of their lives if there is no change. Witnessing this fueled me to put together a saying for my kids ministry at the church where I am a children’s pastor. What are some of those hard things? First, place your identity in God alone and not in other people or what you have. If you choose the latter, the result will be insecurity. Second, wrestle with your fears and face them dead on. This will build in you a habit of building

character and doing what most are unwilling to do.

Finally, surround yourself with people who are focused on what really matters. If you are around people who want to make a difference in the world, it is going to encourage you to take advantage of the little time we have on this earth. Listen to the words of Solomon, “Remember also your Creator in the days of your youth, before the evil days come and the years draw near of which you say, ‘I have no pleasure in them” (Ecclesiastes 12:1).

t the age of only 18 years old I had this big dream; I was going to have a big fancy wedding, marry the man I was in love with, and live happily ever after. You can only imagine how shattered my dream was years later when I found myself sleeping in a separate room from my husband, arguing with him all the time, and feeling unhappy and unloved. Yeah, that was not the kind of marriage I had in mind. And if my dream wasn’t shattered enough, it definitely was the day my husband told me our marriage was over and he wanted me to move out.

So I did what anyone with a shattered dream, a shattered life would do, I cried out to God. “In my distress I called to the Lord; I cried to my God for help. From his temple he heard my voice; my cry came before him, into his ears” (Psalm 18:6). And the Lord answered my cry and He told me to stay in my marriage and He would help me. It didn’t make sense to me at the time why God would want me to stay in a situation that seemed hopeless, damaged, broken, and too far gone, but I decided to trust in the Lord because I know that His ways and His thoughts are not like mine.

It’s been almost four years since that day, and I can say that I am so glad I listened to God. I went through a process of completely being transformed into the wife God desired for me to be, and I learned Biblical principles that helped save my marriage. I learned how to love unconditionally like Christ does. I learned how to forgive even when I didn’t think my spouse deserved my forgiveness. I learned that my husband needs to feel respected. I learned that I couldn’t spend all my time with my kids and neglect my marriage. And I learned that although I couldn’t change my husband, I could treat him in such a way that would motivate him to become a better man; “Wives, in the same way submit yourselves to your own husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives” (1 Pet. 3:1).

That’s when my marriage full of shattered dreams starting feeling like a marriage I could have never dreamed of. I transformed, my husband transformed, and our marriage was completely restored to the point we often said, “This seems too good to be true.” And on top of all of that, God began to use me and our story to help other marriages all around the world. Now I speak at churches, women’s conferences, and in other countries. I’m living what seems like a dream life.

So if you’re reading this and you feel like your dreams are shattered, your life is shattered, and your marriage is shattered, I want to encourage you to not give up. I want to encourage you to cry out to God, to trust God, and to apply His word to whatever situation you’re facing. If you do that, I truly believe your life will also go from shattered dreams to a life you could never dream of. “In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps” (Prov. 16:9).

Neck and Back Pain eck/back pain, along with migraine, makes up two of the top three leading causes of YLD’s (Years Lived with Disability). Back pain accounts for more than 264 million lost workdays per year. Up to 80% of the population will experience back pain at some time in their lives. There are many different types of pain associated with spine, including tingling, numbness, sharp, stabbing, etc. No matter what the characteristic(s) of the pain it can be as little as a minor nuisance to a major disabling condition. Pain in and of itself isn’t bad; it can let us know that there is some form of injury to that area. Chronic or long standing pain, however, is not good.

Long-term pain means that there is a lot of inflammation and tissue damage in that area that isn’t healing properly.

Pain can be a hard concept to understand because pain has a couple of concepts associated with it. When pain occurs in the body there is physical pain of course, but a couple of other processes are also occurring. I should stop here and mention that pain itself actually happens in the brain, and not the actual site of injury.

What is happening at the injured area is a term called nociception.

Nociception is the sensory nervous system's response to certain harmful or potentially harmful stimuli. The term pain really describes the brain’s interpretation to that stimulus. When we have pain in the body, or back/neck pain, there is some form of damage to those tissues (this is our nociception experience). Those pain signals travel to the brain so we can give meaning to that stimulus. When nociception reaches the brain a couple of things are happening.

First, we need to be able to localize where that pain is occurring - is it in the neck, back, hip, etc.? The brain also needs to know how this occurred and what event

was happening. Furthermore, when pain occurs there is also an emotional event that takes place as well. The brain puts that event in a folder so ideally, you can learn from that event, and associate it with physical pain in order to avoid or try to avoid that particular event in the future. Again, this is all happening simultaneously in the brain: we discern where the pain is occurring, what may have caused the pain, and learn from that event so that pain doesn’t keep happening.

As you can see, pain can be a pretty complicated process of events. This is why it is so important that we keep our brains healthy. When the brain isn’t as healthy, these processes cannot occur properly. To keep the brain healthy, we need to eat properly, exercise, get proper sleep, reduce our stressors, and make sure our brains are able to interpret nociceptive stimulus properly.

Doing this allows for proper brain stimulation, and a healthy brain is happy brain!

Becoming a Child of God Spiritually

rdinary humans, focused on earthly things, are called the “children of this world” in Jesus’s teaching (Luke 16:8, 20:34, KJV). Born after the natural process of human reproduction, they live within the confines of sense-consciousness. Since we all share this beginning point, we are part of the same human family, regardless of race, color, culture, or creed. The Bible tears down separating walls, declaring God “has made from one blood every nation” (Acts 17:26).

Explaining this, the Messiah insisted, “Unless one is born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God” (John 3:5). Being “born of the water” is a reference to the ‘breaking of the water’ during the natural birth process. The amniotic sac tears and the fluid spills out as the child exits the womb. This is a necessary step in our spiritual development; however, a second birth must follow to inherit eternal life. Jesus insisted, “You must be born again” (John 3:7).

Three important attitudes open the door to this internal transformation: • Repentance—2 Corinthians 6:17-18 urges, “Come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, and I will receive you. I will be a Father to you, and you shall be My sons and daughters.”

• Faith—Ephesians 3:17 declares Christ will “dwell in your hearts through faith.”

If Jesus referred to God as their “Father,” simultaneously, He was implying they were “His children.” Therefore, on a foundational level, all human beings are “children of God after the creation.” As Paul taught, we are “His offspring” (Acts 17:28). The Creator loves all people so deeply that He “gave His only begotten Son” to purchase their salvation (John 3:16). He did this to lift those who respond to an eternal level of sonship available only through spiritual rebirth.

If everyone born into this world was automatically an eternal child of God, these three promises, with their attached conditions, would have never been voiced.

When these three qualifying factors occur, God sends forth “the Spirit of His Son” into our hearts “crying out, ‘Abba, Father!’” (Galations 4:6) At that moment, supernaturally, we become God’s everlasting offspring and join “the whole family in heaven and in earth” (Ephesians 3:15).

Nana Sherry’s Signature Apple Pie • 1 Box Pillsbury refrigerated pie crust (2 crusts) • 6 cups thinly sliced, peeled apples (6 med).

I use Gala apples for the sweetness • ¾ cup sugar • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour • ¾ teaspoon ground cinnamon • ¼ teaspoon salt • 1 tablespoon lemon juice Preheat oven to 425°F. Place 1 pie crust in ungreased 9-inch glass pie plate and set aside.

In a large bowl, mix sugar, flour, cinnamon and salt. Gently stir apples and lemon juice into the dry mixture until they are completely covered. Spoon into the pie plate and top with the second crust. Gently slit the top crust with the design of your choice. Brush with an egg wash.

I didn’t ponder if I could make an apple pie because all that I was compelled to do was grant the wish of someone I loved and who loved me.

This memory reminds me that when I first met Jesus, my name changed to Redeemed. How much greater, then, should be my desire to do whatever He asks of me? I am sure that most of us become complacent in our service to Him sometimes. Going to church, giving to the Kingdom work, living a life that we want to be pleasing in His sight, each of these things come pretty naturally to us in our Christian walk. But how willing are we to do more, something we have never done before or something that is not common to our daily service expectations of ourselves? If the Spirit tugs at our hearts to walk up to a total stranger and declare that Jesus loves him and wants to become the Redeemer of his soul, do we just do it or do we ponder on it. If we feel an urge to double our Sunday morning offering, do we stop and think or do we just do it because we are being asked by someone we love and who loves us, someone who died for us! I baked the pie out of a heart of love and I want to always do what I feel my Redeemer is asking of me with a love that is greater than any love we will ever know.

“That I may come unto you with joy by the will of God, and may with you be refreshed” (Romans 15:32).
