The Power of God’s Names any people think that butterflies cannot see their own wings. Albeit, humans only have two eyes and must rely on the reflection of a mirror in order to see either their faces or their backsides. Vertebrates need to move their heads and eyes in order to see things around them. However, butterflies are quite different. Found in America, Canada, Hawaii, Cuba, and some Caribbean Islands, just to name a few, the monarch butterfly has an astounding 12,000 eyes. With almost 360° vision, these beautiful creatures have two different types of eyes that allow them to see everything at the same time.

If a beautiful complex creature such as a monarch butterfly, with 12,000 eyes, can see everything at the same time, how much more the Creator? God, who is much more beautiful and complex than a monarch butterfly, sees all things simultaneously. You may think God is overlooking you as you go through trials in life, but that is far from the truth. The truth is, God sees you (Psalm 33:18, Proverbs 15:3). The phrase, “the eyes of the Lord,” is simply an anthropomorphic figure of speech which means God is watching everything that goes on in all of His creation.

God sees you as you face difficulty in life (Genesis 16). Upon being treated harshly by Sarai, Hagar fled from Abram’s house. On her way back to Egypt, the Angel of the Lord (the pre-incarnate Christ) found her by a spring of water. After having a life-changing encounter with Him, she soon discovered the truth that God sees us and stated, “You are a God who sees” (Gen. 16:13). For that reason, Hagar gave God the name El Roi: “God sees me.”

To Hagar, God was no longer an idol made of wood that could neither see nor sympathize with her. She learned that God saw her past, when Sarai treated her harshly (v. 1-6), her present, when God found her by a spring of water (v.

7-9), and her future, when He said, “I will greatly multiply your descendants…” (v. 10-12). Friend, God sees everything.

El Roi is personally watching you and He knows all about your struggles and afflictions in life. He sees your past, your present, and your future. Know for sure that He loves you and He has a wonderful plan for your life.

Five encouraging verses that confirm El Roi is watching you: 1. “For the eyes of the Lord move to and fro throughout the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His” (2 Chronicles 16:9).

2. “Does He not see my ways and number all my steps?” (Job 31:4).

3. “I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go; I will counsel you with My eye upon you” (Psalm 32:8).

4. “For My eyes are on all their ways; they are not hidden from My face, nor is their iniquity concealed from My eyes” (Jeremiah 16:17).

5. “And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are open and laid bare to the eyes of Him with whom we have to do” (Hebrews 4:13).

Moving ast summer, I moved from Minnesota to Tennessee. I was overjoyed that I was moving to Tennessee to be closer to family.

Nothing could prepare me for how hard moving was going to be, though. When I’m in bed and supposed to be sleeping, I still cry. Remembering every memory, happy and sad, they bring back so many emotions.

I miss my friends (even though I have made many great friends here in Tennessee). I also miss everything around me being familiar, like my house and school.

I get to keep the best memory with me wherever I go, and it is the memories of my family. At least, that’s what I think. I also have some sad memories of back home, like the time my grandpa passed away and the time my babysitter passed away as well. When life gets hard for me, I always come back to one Bible verse, though. Joshua 1:9: “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

This Bible verse hit me a few months ago and has made my move to Tennessee so much better.

Who helped me get through these things? That is

easy: God. I also realized that my family is always there too. My family and God make a great team; they help me get through tough things. My move was so much easier knowing I had these two things on my side: God and family!

Mom’s Sock It To Me Cake

Ingredients • 1 box yellow cake mix • 1 cup sour cream

• 2 tablespoons cinnamon

• 2 tablespoons brown sugar • 1 cup chopped pecans

• 1 cup powdered sugar • 2 tablespoons milk • 3 eggs

• 1/3 cup oil

• 1/4 cup water

repare in a small bowl two tablespoons of dry cake mix right from the cake mix box. Add the cinnamon, brown sugar, and chopped pecans and set aside. In a large bowl, blend the remaining dry cake mix, sour cream, oil, water, eggs, and sugar and beat on high speed for two minutes. Pour 2/3 of the cake mixture into a round bundt pan that has been greased and lightly floured, then sprinkle the dry ingredients into the bundt pan over your cake mixture. Next, pour the remaining cake mixture over the dry mixture and bake at 375 degrees for 40-55 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. Let the cake cool and then dump it onto your cake plate. For the topping, mix powdered sugar and milk and drizzle the mixture over your cooled cake.
