In Term 4 we had a wonderful end to the 2022 school year. We were fortunate enough to be able to hold many of our celebrations and see our Year 6 Leavers off in true Kakaramea style. Here are a few highlights of the last few days of the 2022 school year.
In the last week of the term we had the Life Education truck visit teaching us about the Health Curriculum. We really enjoyed these fun interactive sessions and thank our Events Committee for their financial support in allowing these to take place annually.
Meet the Kakaramea 2023 team! Our superb teaching team!
We would like to officially welcome our teaching team in 2023.
Our wonderful fresh faced teaching team consists of Mrs Carissa Laracy-Talbot (Mrs L-T), Mrs Kylee Manson (Release Teacher) and Ms Kate Paris (Whaea Kate). Rounding out our superb full time teaching team is returning teacher Natalie Tai (Mrs Tai).

This year we have been extremely lucky to have Kate Paris onboard in 2023 it already feels like she has been here for ages! We look forward to a great year ahead!
Our Year 6 Leavers, the Class of 2022. As Kakaramea School and Community we would like to wish our Year 6 Leavers all the very best for their next learning journey. We thank them for their outstanding contribution to our school during their time here. We look forward to hearing of their stories and tales of adventure and of course their many future successes in the near future. We are very proud of them all. Remember to fly that Kakaramea Flag high!

In the last week of school we held our WAKA Way rewards day for the school. We had a brilliant day out starting with a visit to Pouakai Zoo in the morning and an afternoon in the pool at New Plymouth Aquatic Centre. Fun in the sun had by everyone!
We entered two touch teams into the recent Alton and Districts Playgroup Touch Tournament on Friday 17th February. Both teams played so well with our Kak Krusaders coming away with winning the tournament. We would like to thank the Alton and Districts Playgroup for hosting such a great event. Thanks for the invitation.

The Women's Institute Founders Day 2023
We were invited to perform at The Women's Institute’s Founder’s Day on Tuesday 21st February. It was wonderful to take part in the celebration at the Kakaramea Hall where we could share our Kapa Haka set. A lovely morning enjoyed by all!
Trapping Construction - Events Committee Fundraiser
Patea River Catchment Group - Trap Construction Fundraiser! Recently, our Events Committee led a trap construction fundraiser to assist the Patea River Catchment Group with their latest project and in turn raise funds for our amazing school. After a couple of weeks break over the Christmas period Club days resumed on the 6th January. It was a very disruptive month due to bad weather which always seemed to be on our club days or days we had planned to visit other Clubs or having them join us, therefore we had a quiet month with only one planned visit from Wanganui Club managing to get a visit in. It was a very pleasant day with lots of fun and laughs. Five games were managed to be played between a bountiful morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea which was enjoyed by all. There were only 2 jump shots and 3 hole in ones achieved which reflected lack of play over the month.
February however has been a lot better with play on most days, even Cyclone Gabrielle was kind to us and gave us a couple of lovely days play. The Club Singles are now well underway but will take some time to come to a conclusion as there are many games to play. On the 22nd we visited Wanganui Club. The weather was good and we made the day a bit more pleasurable by going out to lunch first before we were due at their Clubrooms. Four games were played before we were treated to a lovely afternoon tea. A good day was had by all. During February there were 12 jump shots and 7 holes in one achieved.
Upcoming events. There is only one event coming up in March. Inglewood Club is due to visit us on Wednesday 29th. We will be providing them with morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea. These days are great so hopefully all goes well weather wise for this visit.
