Elitist Narcissism – The Great Evil Of Our Times Fr Richard Heilman Why do I appear so political?

Because I am. It’s called “working within the system.” And, the system that drives the “condition of our country” is, for the most part, politics. Once politics stays out of my faith, I’ll stay out of politics.

You want to legalise the murdering of children? Then, “It’s On!” Now, don’t get me wrong — of course, it is the power of God and our deep faith that is the only real power to defeat evil. And, I do all I can to stay as well-connected to God as I can, and I do all I can to help others to do the same. YES, we must begin with prayer! And, not just any prayer, but prayer that exclaims to God, “We are quite serious about this!!!”

St. Basil wrote: “The reason why sometimes you have asked and not received is because you have asked amiss, either inconsistently, or lightly, or because you have asked for what was not good for you, or because you have ceased asking.”

We simply must call out to God — in the most fervent way possible — to heal our land.

There is real “work” to do on the ground … within the system. For me, I believe it means calling out

evil and doing all I can to motivate all of us to “vote evil out of power.”

To that end, I want to shine a big, bright, shiny spotlight on what I believe is the greatest evil we face in our times. This evil is the oldest of all evils and most representative of Satan himself — Disordered Pride, being “Smug” or what has been called, “Elitist Narcissism.”

From very early in childhood, one discovers what I call, “Playground Politics.” I often joke about this when I walk over to a group of adults at a social. I will say something like, “I want to hang with the cool kids.” Virtually no playground or school hallway seems immune from groupings of young people who long to be counted among “the cool kids.” And, what child has not experienced, at one time or another, that feeling of being excluded or not fitting in with the popular crowd?

Well, maybe the popular kids did not.

The point I am making is that “Playground Politics” is so common that some count it as “natural” … a kind of “survival of the fittest.”

However, many develop neuroses from this kind of exclusion.

Fast forward to adulthood, and don’t we all know that what developed in childhood is played out among adults — just under a different title: “Elitist Narcissism.” Far too many want to count themselves among the “in crowd.”

Such individuals attend the most prestigious schools and academies, join exclusive fraternities, and associate only with members of their own social class.”

What they refer to as “evolved,” we call “conversion.” The difference is that, in their Elitist Narcissism — their smugness — they count themselves as superior to — transcending — the Constitution, and even God. When we “rise to a new life” we bow to our Creator … that’s called “conversion.”

The commentary on 1 Corinthians in the Navarre Bible states, “The spiritual man is the Christian reborn by the grace of God; grace elevates his faculties to enable him to perform actions which have a supernatural value — acts of faith, hope, and charity. A person who is in the state of grace is able to perceive the things of God, because

he carries with him the Spirit in his soul in grace, and he has Christ’s mind, Christ’s attitude. ‘We have no alternative,’ St. Josemaria Escriva teaches, ‘there are only two possible ways of living on this earth: either we live a supernatural life, or we live an animal life. And you and I can only live the life of God, a supernatural life’ (Friends of God).” (Excerpt from Church Militant Field Manual).

Satan’s great tactic is to infuse this Pride; this “Narcissistic Elitism” from the playgrounds of our youth.

Some are able to breakthrough to “conversion,” while others are “stuck” in this lifelong attitude of superiority.

THIS is the battle we wage in our times. This is the Head of the Serpent we plead for Our Lady to crush.

The Hidden Blessing of a Closed Door Barbara Padolina I have heard it said many a time that when God closes a door, He opens a window. While this may be the case in many ways for others and even myself — as I have many times throughout my life — our family’s experience this Christmas makes me consider that perhaps when God closes a door, He simply wants it closed so we can better appreciate what is within.

Covid on Christmas Eve There was an excitingly electric, practically palpable buzz in the air in the week leading up to Christmas. On the news and certainly in conversation with others, it was clear that many wanted a Christmas much more like the ones before the current pandemic was a reality.

It was pretty much the same in our home — the kids were in holiday mode, with no school, no schedule, and the breathtaking task of keeping an eye on the space under a Christmas tree for colourfully-wrapped gifts to magically appear. Our adult children would come home for Christmas eve, Mass together as a family, and family day-long celebration on the 25th. We were all set to go, and then — Covid came crashing in, without so much as a “Ho ho ho!” and made itself at home in our home.

As of this writing, nearly all my family have tested positive for Covid, with mild or no symptoms. I want to say how hopeful and positive I was about the whole thing — but the truth is that I was dismayed by the bother of being sick and the ruination of plans we had made. Where was my open window?

felt tired off my feet, exhausted to the point of achy muscles, and frustrated that there are only so many hours in a day. I stretched myself so thin, you could practically see through me as I raced to take care of family and work. I tried to take care of everything I could see and failed to nurture what I could not see but was really the glue that held everything together within me: my own relationship with my Father God. It is not that I completely stopped praying. I called on Him for help so many times during the day, in the course of my work, and as I struggled at home to be a good wife and mother. The problem with just calling on God as if He was my personal 911 rescue operator is that it is no way at all to foster a relationship with Someone Who loves you. I did not love Him as I ought to. I called on Him because I needed His help, and I knew He would not forsake me.

This is why the visitation of Covid on our family is — for me — a closed door. No open windows here, folks, and I will tell you why: God knows me all too well (of course!). He knows that I have the mental and

spiritual attention span of a distracted, hyperactive flea.

He knows me better than I know myself and an open window is a distraction for me. The door is shut, and I am beginning to appreciate this for what it is: precious time to consider and be more fully aware of what is within my home and myself. We are in quarantine, after all. We might as well make the most of this time indoors!

Assuming His Presence I write this on the Feast of the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph. In reading today’s Gospel passage, I realise there is something remarkably familiar in the experience of Mary and Joseph: “and when the feast was ended, as they were returning, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem. His parents did not know it, but supposing him to be in the company they went a day’s journey, and they sought him among their kinsfolk and acquaintances; and when they did not find him, they returned to Jerusalem, seeking him.” (Luke 2:43-44) I do not pretend to be anything like Mary or Joseph at all — save for the fact that they were human beings as well, imperfect, and capable of making mistakes.

Perhaps everything went as well as they thought it would in Jerusalem and they were tired but happy to be on their way home. They supposed “him to be in the company” of others who were on the same journey.

When everything is going well and according to plan, how easy it is to slip into the comforting thought that God is going along, working with me on my plans, and all is good in the world. I forget all too quickly that in as much as God is everywhere, I must not take His presence for granted. It is I who am with Him for the ride of my life and not the other way around.

Do I ever assume that He is there for me whenever I need Him? You bet I do — all the time. The tricky thing with assumptions is that certain things can be taken for granted. Do we not do the same thing with those closest to us — those whom we know to love us dearly? Many times, they are the ones who easily fall by the wayside of our life’s priorities. Often, we take for granted those whom we know have forgiven our many trespasses and transgressions. What is one more? This, however, does not work for the good of those whom we love, and it certainly never works in our own relationship with our Father God. It Takes Two I am certain this was not the case for Mary and Joseph — that they took God for granted — but this scriptural passage calls me on this point. My tendency to call on God and consider Him as a willing passenger in my crazy car as I drive at breakneck speed along the busy highway of what feels like my overloaded life is strong and persistent. I assume He is on board with my plans and will bail me out as needed. What I tend to overlook is the fundamental need for me to nurture the relationship I have with Him as my Father and not my magic genie in a lamp.

HIDDEN BLESSINGS 5 He is real, ever faithful, and constantly puts up with my neglect of the times I had set to be with Him in personal prayer or the sacraments. So many years ago, there was this whole thing about “quality time” vs. “quantity time” — which was more important? Why, both are important, of course! A good, healthy relationship needs time and sincere effort from both parties. When you are so busy that you seem to have no time to keep in touch and be with Someone who loves you dearly — nothing works quite as well as a sudden need to simply stop.

Stop, Look and Listen “and when they did not find him, they returned to Jerusalem, seeking him.” (Luke 2:45) As parents of a large family, my husband and I have had the unfortunate and embarrassing experience of having forgotten a family member (or two) at home or somewhere else. Thankfully, it never got worse than the shocking discovery of our mistake, a frantic race back to where we came from and dealing with the overwhelming guilt of being the world’s worst parents ever. Our children forgave us (at least I think they did…) and the memory became part of our family’s colourful history and lore. Moments like that gave us pause, though, and forced us to slow down and consider what we could have done or should do better.

This experience of quarantining through Christmas because of Covid has made me stop, stay put, and pay attention to what is going on around me. It has also given me cause to examine what is going on within me. I realise that I have been running on spiritual gas fumes. I cannot give what I do not have. I find that I am wanting in faith, hope, and love — and this is on me. I am missing the one connection which grounds me and holds me fast to who I am and what is truly important.

I miss my Father.

Behind a Closed Door There was no magic, no fireworks, no special heartstopping moment necessary. The opportunity arose because we could not go anywhere else due to a virus which has wreaked havoc wherever it went. We had to stay home. Did God give us Covid? Of course not! He has allowed it for something good (and perhaps much more than I can even imagine), which would not have been possible if I was running around like a madwoman or a headless chicken — or both.

I have been able to spend time playing a board game which we enjoy but I never seemed to have time or the energy to play in these past several weeks. I have been able to rest more than I have in months, both physically and mentally. I have managed to cook and bake in my home kitchen for the people who truly matter the most: my family.

When the Door Opens This time of isolation and being unable to leave the house — this too shall pass. We will get better and move on. In as much as I never wanted to be sick or any of my family to be so, this time is not without the many hidden blessings which can only be seen by those who walk by faith and not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7).

For you, dear reader, I pray God keeps you close to Him always. May this new year bring you more opportunities to spend time with our Father God and appreciate His love, mercy, and divine providence.

These heavenly companions have been helping mankind since the Middle Ages. The Fourteen Holy Helpers are fourteen saints that are collectively invoked against various ailments and dangers.

Devotion to the Fourteen Holy Helpers began in 14th-century Germany, which was suffering under the bubonic plague. Called the “Nothelfer” — “Helpers in Need” — in German, devotion to them eventually spread to other countries. Their feast is kept in some places on August 8th.

These saints are mostly drawn from the ranks of the early Church martyrs. Each one is invoked against a particular affliction, often related to the means of their martyrdom.

Here they are: St. Acatius – 4th c. Greek captain in the Roman army. Some say he was crowned with thorns.

Eventually beheaded. Invoked against headaches.

St. Barbara – 3rd c. Virgin-martyr killed by her own father. Lightning struck him as punishment. Invoked against lightning and fire.

St. Blaise – 4th c. Armenian martyrbishop. Cured a child choking on a fishbone. Invoked against throat ailments.

St. Catherine of Alexandria – 4th c. Egyptian virgin-martyr famous for her learning. Invoked by lawyers and against diseases of the tongue.

St. Christopher – “Christ-bearer.”

3rd c. Martyr who carried the Christ Child across a stream. Invoked against travel dangers and sudden death.

St. Cyriacus – 4th c. Roman deacon-martyr. Cured Diocletian’s daughter, possibly of blindness.

Invoked against eye diseases.

St. Denis – 3rd c. Missionary to France. Bishop of Paris. Martyred by beheading. According to legend, at his martyrdom he picked up his head and walked; hence he is often pictured with his head in his hands.

Invoked against demonic attacks and headaches.

St. Erasmus (Elmo) – 4th c. Italian martyr-bishop. Tortured by having his intestines pulled out. Namesake of “St. Elmo’s Fire,” electric phenomenon that precedes a storm at sea. Invoked against stomach ailments (and a favorite of sailors).

St. Eustace – 2nd c. General in Trajan’s army. Saw a stag with a cross between its antlers. Converted with wife and kids. Burned alive in an oven. Invoked against fires.

St. George – 4th c. Soldier under Diocletian. Killed a dragon. Saved

a princess. Died a martyr. Invoked against skin diseases and palsy.

St. Giles – 7th c. Athenian monk.

Founded a Benedictine community in France. Told Charles Martel to go to confession. Invoked against crippling diseases.

St. Margaret of Antioch – 4th c.

Virgin-martyr. Converted by her holy nurse. Shepherdess. Invoked by women in childbirth and against kidney diseases.

St. Pantaleon – 4th c. Doctor employed by the emperor. Nailed to a tree then beheaded. Blood, preserved in Ravello, Italy, liquefies every year. Invoked by doctors and midwives, and against lung diseases.

St. Vitus – 4th c. Sicilian.

Converted by his Christian nurse and her husband. All three martyred together. Invoked against paralysis, nervous diseases, and epilepsy.

Culture-Change And Legal Change: Which Comes First?

Anthony Hofler It seems highly likely that the annual ‘Happy New Year’ greeting refers, in the minds of nearly everybody, to personal circumstances which have direct, practical effect on the recipient of the wish; for example, health and prosperity. In your own case, can you remember any instance in which when saying it you were thinking of ‘the way the country is’?

Probably the greeting imparted by a comparative ‘handful’ includes, although inwardly, wider circumstances, but at a time of celebration (irrational though it is; why does a number-change cause joy?) it would be ‘a bit off’ to bring up anything potentially sober. The jollity is, however, fleeting, and we return to routine and our normal priorities.

For some of the above-mentioned ‘handful,’ the hoped-for happiness will depend partly on whether their opinions become more influential. Ultimately the opinions which govern outcomes are those of people who hold the relevant power. In changing the character of a country, a practical instrument of great use has been the law, so Catholics who are unhappy with how things are should give high priority to bringing the law into conformity with Catholicism.

The success of that now-distant objective depends on two subsidiary, and parallel, projects.

One is very broad, can be pursued in various ways and contexts, and is slow to produce recognisable signs of nation-wide progress. The other is narrow in nature and scope, and its success would be measurable easily by the people who were engaged in it.

The broader of the two projects (and this is the only one which would lead to the durable reversal of secularist power) is the dauntinglymonumental task of correcting the dominant contra-Catholic collective ‘mind-set’. Many minds have become weak. In mind as in body, strength has to be built. As it increases, its possessor can carry more, and will be more resistant to assault.

It cannot, however, be built on poor food. Because, alas, the public now insist on a la carte and reject the table d’hote menu of Catholicism, religious restaurant managers (even very senior ones) seem to have a policy of trying to retain the remaining

regular customers by toning down items which are thought most likely to cause digestive difficulties, and to tempt the disenchanted and the wary by ‘signalling’ this milder taste and doing nothing to contradict an impression that although on paper the menu is unchanged people can in practice ‘miss’ elements which are unattractive. The aim seems, therefore, to be provision of pleasurably-tolerable sustenance even if it does not render the consumers more robust and generally more healthy than they used to be.

The spiritual health and strength of a society reflects, logically enough, that of individuals. Pope St. John Paul wrote about this in terms which are very applicable to the present subject. In his Apostolic Exhortation, “Reconciliatio et Paenitentia” (1984), he discussed the widespread loss of a correct sense of sin, and the fact that sinful situations are the direct result of sins by individuals. “[T]here is,” he wrote, “nothing so personal and untransferable in each

individual as merit for virtue or responsibility for sin”, even though “numerous and powerful external factors” and internal “tendencies, defects and habits” may influence the individual and affect the extent of his responsibility.”

His Holiness linked the current spiritual condition of individuals and the rectification of sinful situations: “At the heart of every situation of sin are always to be found sinful people. So true is this that even when such a situation can be changed in its structural and institutional aspects by the force of law…, the change in fact proves to be incomplete, of short duration and ultimately vain and ineffective – not to say counter-productive – if the people directly or indirectly responsible for that situation are not converted.”

the people indirectly responsible are those who elect those lawmakers. Pope St. John Paul was looking at situations primarily from moral and spiritual viewpoints. U.S. President Eisenhower had reached a similar conclusion by reference to political and practical criteria. In a 1957 letter to a friend, he wrote that “Laws are rarely effective unless they represent the will of the majority.” Acquiescence is probably more common than overt ‘will’. Among the best examples are two from America. They are, in reverse chronological order, ‘civil rights’ and ‘Prohibition’. A look at them may be interesting as well as illustrative.

After the American Civil War (1861-65), federal ‘civil rights’ legislation gave black people the same entitlements as whites, but it was undermined by some decisions In matters of law and governance, of the Supreme Court and was the people directly responsible are defied by segregation laws enacted the law-makers, and in democracies in Southern States. In 1892, Homer Plessy entered a railway carriage which was reserved for whites, and was arrested for refusal to leave it (a remarkably similar case occurred in 1955, when Rosa Parks refused to leave a ‘whites only’ seat on a bus in Alabama). His litigation challenging the validity of the State’s law was unsuccessful. The Supreme Court declared, by seven votes to one, that “separate but equal” practices were lawful.

The Court overruled that, by a 9 to 0 vote, in 1954 (Brown v.

Board of Education of Topeka).

Commenting on the Brown decision, President Eisenhower said that when emotions are deeply stirred progress must be gradual and take into account human feelings; the South had, as a law-abiding area, lived for several decades under the Court’s decision in

Plessy v. Ferguson, and so a complete and instant reversal of conduct was unimaginable; he pointed out that Southern segregationists were going to take time to adjust their thinking and their progress towards compliance. That should be borne in mind by those of us who desire correction of today’s dominant contraCatholic attitude.

‘Prohibition’ illustrates what Pope John Paul and the President wrote. It was an important political subject a century ago. Prohibition of commerce in alcohol became federal law in January 1920, but problems of enforcement became evident before long. Lawenforcers were vastly outnumbered by law-defiers.

High demand for illegal products increased prices, and this type of crime became immensely profitable (and the cause of murders between rival criminals). Urban lack of public support for prohibition extended into the legal system, resulting in law-‘enforcers’ becoming complicit (sometimes in return for bribes) in the illicit trade. Difficulty in persuading juries to convict defendants and the imposition of light penalties by judges produced a sense of futility, and charges were sometimes dropped. In 1933 the ban was repealed.

Those precedents contain important, sober lessons for a minority who want a counter-revolution but cannot make any impact on the status quo, but who think primarily of changing the law. Should one of those tasks be given priority over the other? If so, which?

Consider attitudes to grave depravity which should in no circumstances be approved (“Catechism of the Catholic Church,” paragraph 2357). For example, the British Social Attitudes survey indicated that in 1983 one in every two people regarded it as always immoral, but that in 2012 only just over one in every five thought so; and whereas in the 1980s about one in ten thought it is not immoral at all, by 2012 that number was approaching five in ten (https://bsa.natcen. ac.uk/latest-report/british-social-attitudes-30/personalrelationships/homosexuality.aspx).

Did that growth of liberalism result from changes to laws, or did legal changes cause increased liberalism?

A reasonably-well-known supporter said that the trend had been helped by the willingness of Governments to change the law before there was evidence that the public were changing their attitudes. That was only an opinion, but it is worth thinking-about. Changing the

law can help to change attitudes and change society. The same point was made a few years later in a House of Commons debate leading to legal ‘marriage’ status for same-gender unions: referring to the modern ‘direction of travel,’ a speaker said that “Through a series of Acts, this House brought equality nearer. Where legislation led, society followed…and our society became more tolerant.”

The introduction of legal ‘civil partnerships’ paved the way for same-gender ‘marriages’. That was predicted, on the basis that when people realised that such partnerships had almost the same legal effects as marriages the difference would seem anomalous and unjustifiable.

That was, allegedly, what had happened in Scandinavia, and what was happening elsewhere in Europe. The Ministerial Foreword contained in the British Government’s ‘consultation’ about how best (not whether) to legalise same-gender ‘marriage’ said that “…The introduction of civil partnerships in 2005 was a significant and important step forward for same-sex couples…”

So the change of law in 2005 led to the one in 2013.

Legal and social changes can reinforce each other. As President Eisenhower and Pope St. John Paul realised, however, the effectiveness of legal change depends on public support for it (whether that be positive or passive). A change of law happens when the public allow it. So the only way by which the inculturation of grave sin can be reversed durably is by correcting the dominant contra-Catholic collective ‘mind-set’.

Vatican II’s “Decree on the Apostolate of the Laity” referred to “the mentality, customs, laws, and structures” of the community in which one lives. That sequence

may well have been deliberate, not random, because mentality produces social customs, which lead to laws, and laws need structures through which they are given practical effect. The reform of society is multi-dimensional, ranging from ‘generalities’ to ‘specifics’.

Generalities are ‘safer,’ which is plausibly a reason for the endemic clerical aversion to instigating or encouraging controversial concrete counter-cultural activity.

during debate about legal changes it was argued that no law could force different races to mix with each other. Upon hearing these arguments, he wrote, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., replied that “It may be true that the law cannot make a man love me, but it can keep him from lynching me and I think that is pretty important, also” (“The Audacity of Hope,” Barack Obama; Canongate Books, Ltd., 2008, p.62-63).

Correction of specific sinfulness in society is where the second of the above-mentioned two parallel projects ‘comes in’. Contra-Catholic circumstances have been produced and are sustained by people who hold contra-Catholic attitudes.

Debate can go on indefinitely, but unless an attitude is given practical effect it remains only a thought.

The law cannot make people agree with Catholic principle, but can deny them help to trample on it. That is “pretty important,” also. The law is made by judges and by politicians. We have no control over judges, but we can have control over politicians if we act appropriately. How to do so is a separate subject, and quite a challenge.

The law has been essential in the establishment of attitudes which govern society. Barack Obama wrote that sometimes only the law can fully vindicate our values, and he gave as an example the efforts to end racial discrimination. He noted that although moral exhortation was important in changing hearts and minds, it was court cases and legislation which had the greatest practical effect. He recalled that

Barack Obama (in “The Audacity of Hope,” at p.68) challenged people by asking them how they used their time, energy, and money.

He regarded those as “the true tests of what we value,...regardless of what we like to tell ourselves. If we aren’t willing to pay a price for our values, if we aren’t willing to make some sacrifices in order to realize them, then we should ask ourselves whether we truly believe in them at all.”

There Shall Be Pestilences, And Famines, And Earthquakes In Places Now All These Are The Beginnings Of Sorrows.

John Lacken Let us begin by praying for our bishops as once again we see signs that some of them do not seem to know their role within the Catholic Church.

Ave Maria, gratia plena, Dominus tecum. Benedicta tu in mulieribus, et benedictus fructus ventris tui, Iesus. Sancta Maria, Mater Dei, ora pro nobis peccatoribus, nunc et in hora mortis nostrae. Amen.

A friend of mine has a youtube video channel called ‘Decrevi Determined to be Catholic’. He has recently posted some videos which highlight some of the liturgical abuses taking place in the Catholic Church in Ireland. I want to address some of the issues raised by these abuses.

Archbishop Eamon Martin presides over a Litrugical abuse on Christmas Eve

On Christmas Eve, 2021, the Primate of all Ireland, Archbishop Eamon Martin, celebrated the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass in the Church of St. James, Grange, Cooley, in County Louth. During the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, young girls performed dance routines. As you can see from the picture above, they entered the sanctuary and stood in front of the tabernacle whilst ‘dancing’ around.

However, the Second Vatican Council’s constitution on the Sacred Liturgy, ‘Sacrosanctum Concilium’, forbids what took place in St James Church on Christmas Eve when is says:

It is not clear what exactly the purpose of these dancers was, but it constitutes a liturgical abuse which is all the more serious as children were involved in this abuse whilst Archbishop Martin looked on.

2. In virtue of power conceded by the law, the regulation of the liturgy within certain defined limits belongs also to various kinds of competent territorial bodies of bishops legitimately established.

Those of us who attend the Latin Mass are often falsely accused of being opposed to the Second Vatican Council. No one knows exactly what the accusation means, as Catholics are called to be faithful to the teachings of the Catholic Church and there were no new binding teachings promulgated by the Second Vatican Council.

3. Therefore no other person, even if he be a priest, may add, remove, or change anything in the liturgy on his own authority. (emphasis added)

22. 1. Regulation of the sacred liturgy depends solely on the authority of the Church, that is, on the Apostolic See and, as laws may determine, on the bishop.

The bishop is charged with guarding the Liturgy in his diocese but he does not have the authority to include children dancing around

the altar as part of that celebration!

This is not permitted by the General Instruction of the Roman Missal which governs how the Novus Ordo Mass is to be celebrated.

In 2004, the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments had to issue a document in order to try to correct the widespread abuses that were occurring in the Novus Ordo celebrations of the Liturgy.

‘Redemptionis Sacramentum’ noted “In this regard it is not possible to be silent about the abuses, even quite grave ones, against the nature of the Liturgy and the Sacraments as well as the tradition and the authority of the Church, which in our day not infrequently plague liturgical celebrations in one ecclesial environment or another. In some places the perpetration of liturgical abuses has become almost habitual, a fact which obviously cannot be allowed and must cease.” (RS 4) Unfortunately, as is witnessed by this article, Redemptionis

The document continues, “The Mystery of the Eucharist “is too great for anyone to permit himself to treat it according to his own whim, so that its sacredness and its universal ordering would be obscured”.

On the contrary, anyone who acts thus by giving free reign to his own inclinations, even if he is a Priest, injures the substantial unity of the Roman Rite, which ought to be vigorously preserved, and becomes responsible for actions that are in no way consistent with the hunger and thirst for the living God that is experienced by the people today.

Nor do such actions serve authentic pastoral care or proper liturgical renewal; instead, they deprive Christ’s faithful of their patrimony and their heritage. For arbitrary actions are not conducive to true renewal, but are detrimental to the right of Christ’s faithful to a liturgical celebration that is an expression of the Church’s life in accordance with her tradition and discipline.

In the end, they introduce elements of distortion and disharmony into the very celebration of the Eucharist, which is oriented in its own lofty way and by its very nature to signifying and wondrously bringing about the communion of divine life and the unity of the People of God. The result is uncertainty in matters of doctrine, perplexity and scandal My God, I believe, I adore, I hope and I love Thee. I beg pardon of Thee for all those that do not believe, do not adore, do not hope and do not love Thee. Amen.

on the part of the People of God, and, almost as a necessary consequence, vigorous opposition, all of which greatly confuse and sadden many of Christ’s faithful in this age of ours when Christian life is often particularly difficult on account of the inroads of “secularization” as well. (RS 11)

but anything that damages the faith of little children is a form of child abuse. And yet, here we have a bishop presiding over a liturgy which “deprives Christ’s faithful of their patrimony and their heritage” and which “introduces elements of distortion and disharmony into the very celebration of the Eucharist...”

Redemptionis Sacramentum, quoting , Sacrosanctum Concilium, n. 22 §1; and the Code of Canon Law, can. 838 §1, emphasises that, “The regulation of the Sacred Liturgy depends solely on the authority of the Church, which rests specifically with the Apostolic See and, according to the norms of law, with the Bishop.” (RS 14)

Was it the case that the Archbishop did not know that this was to take place? This is hard to imagine as everything was co-ordinated to take place at a certain time during the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.

What is a Catholic parent to do when it is the Archbishop, who is also the Catholic Primate of all Ireland who is fostering and partaking in these liturgical abuses?

What is one to make of a situation where an Archbishop does not seem to care that children are being encouraged to take part in an abuse of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass?

As I have said on many occasions, child abuse is not limited to the physical or sexual abuse of children,

Is it possible that the Archbishop is not aware that this is a liturgical abuse? Frighteningly, I think that this might actually be the case.

Archbishop Eamon Martin was born in 1961 and was ordained in 1987. He has been formed in the post Vatican II era where widespread liturgical abuses became the norm in many countries, including Ireland, and where many traditional Catholic teachings were called into question especially in the Maynooth seminary.

Another Liturgical abuse regularly takes place in the Cathedral in Sligo. There, when it comes to the

time to distribute Holy Communion, a perspex screen is wheeled out and the faithful have to place their hands under the screen to receive Holy Communion.

Apparently this is to avoid spreading covid-19. Anyone with a bit of common sense, looking at the video or even at the image on the previous page, can see that it is absurd to think that distributing Holy Communion in this way, whilst people are free to mingle with no social distancing in evidence, cannot prevent the transmission of a microscopic virus.

If Bishop Doran really believes that distributing Holy Communion could spread a deadly virus, then surely he should suspend the distribution of Holy Communion altogether? After all, one is not required to receive Holy Communion at every Holy Mass one attends. But suspending Holy Communion might call into question belief in the real presence, and so a compromise is reached with the world and with the secular government.

Bishop Doran is also an active promoter of the abortion tainted vaccines. It is probable that most of those who attend Holy Mass in the Cathedral in Sligo are vaccinated and they also wear masks. So if the vaccines and the masks work, why the need to treat Jesus Christ is such a disrespectful way by using a perspex screen?

Imagine a protestant attending Holy Mass in Sligo Cathedral and being informed that Catholics believe that Jesus Christ is truly present, Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity, under the appearances of bread and wine, but that it is really Him, and then they see the charade with the perspex screen. As my friend says in the video, “what message do we give to our kids - that covid is more powerful than the Eucharist?” “Do we believe that the Body of Christ is the Body of Christ in the Eucharist?”

Incidentally, it was in Sligo Cathedral that I first came across the liturgical abuse of having young girls dancing around the altar. That was at my youngest daughter’s baptism at the Easter vigil in 2002, twenty years ago.

At that stage of my life, I had not re-discovered the beauty ever ancient and ever new of the Traditional Latin Mass.

These two incidents show just why it is so important for us to pray for our bishops. These men are supposed to guard the Sacred Liturgy of the Catholic Church but they have failed in that duty and it has led to the falling away of many Catholics.

Meanwhile another Archbishop, Archbishop Arthur Roche, recently appointed prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments

by Pope Francis, seeks to take away the patrimony and heritage of faithful Catholics and to prevent us from attending the Traditional Latin Mass. Once again we have a bishop, charged with defending the liturgical traditions of the Catholic Church, who, with the approval of Pope Francis it must be noted, seeks to destroy that very tradition.

We are at the beginnings of sorrows spoken of in chapter twenty four of St Matthew’s Gospel. We will be persecuted for holding fast to the traditions of the Church but Our Lord tells us to rejoice when such things happen.

“Blessed are ye when they shall revile you, and persecute you, and speak all that is evil against you, untruly, for my sake: Be glad and rejoice, for your reward is very great in heaven. For so they persecuted the prophets that were before you.” (Matthew 5:11-12) It is important that as Catholics we resist those who seek to destroy the ancient liturgy of the Catholic Church. We must stand firm and we must continue to uphold the traditions. However, we must not allow a revolutionary spirit to enter our hearts. We are not the revolutionaries, we are the faithful remnant called to be Holy and called to lead others to Christ.

We must be calm but firm in our resolve to uphold the traditions, and we must continue to do so regardless of what restrictions they try to place on us. We have found the pearl of great price and we must sacrifice everything else in order to be able to hold onto it.

Let us not allow ourselves to get bogged down in questions concerning who is Pope or regarding Papal infallibility. Such questions can become distractions and can lead us away from our primary duties as Catholics.

Let us never forget the old prayer.

A body to mortify Sins to expiate Virtues to acquire Hell to avoid Heaven to gain Eternity to prepare for Time to profit by Neighbors to edify The world to despise Devils to combat Passions to subdue Death perhaps to suffer Judgment to undergo.

If we keep our focus on these things and avoid Church and civil politics, and arbitrary questions which have no bearing on how we must live our lives, we will find that we have enough to be doing.

The road to Heaven is not an easy road and Our Lord tells us that few find it.

“Enter ye in at the narrow gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way that leadeth to destruction, and many there are who go in thereat.

How narrow is the gate, and strait is the way that leadeth to life: and few there are that find it!” (Matthew 7:13-14) Let us keep our spiritual lives in focus in these uncertain times

through which we are living, certain that God will triumph. Let us also stay close to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, knowing that in the end Her Immaculate Heart will triumph.

The Catholic Collapse in Australia: A Warning to All Fr. James Grant That Christianity has largely collapsed in Australia is now undeniable, and we have entered a period of introspection around its causes and what might be done to salvage the remains. The contemporary analysis of Christian decline often focuses on a perceived hostility emanating from a cohort of prominent Australians: a Green Left political movement, a hostile ABC (Australian broadcasting commission), and a nest of rabid social media trolls ready to attack Christians (such as Cardinal George Pell and Margaret Court) who defend traditional values.

It is also true that the Church has lost legislative battles relating to same-sex marriage, abortion, and voluntary assisted suicide.

However, if we are brutally honest, did the Church fight aggressively or persistently on any of these matters? No, it did not. Isolated bishops or dioceses were prepared to occasionally issue low-grade warnings, yet most bishops and priests were silent, did nothing, and in many cases advocated for these ideals themselves from their pulpits or within their school communities.

These battles over traditional Christian ideas were not lost because the ABC was too powerful but because most Catholic Church leaders no longer believed in them.

Recently, in Australia, there is a new phenomenon on which to hang Christian decline —COVID restrictions. Yet again, the greater problem stems from the majority of bishops and priests who did not actually strive to keep their churches open. Indeed, is there one single mainstream bishop who O Jesus, it is for the love of Thee, in reparation for the offenses committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary, and for the conversion of poor sinners [that I do this]. railed against such restrictions in any public way? Unfortunately, there were none.

So, perhaps, we may now come to the crux of Christian collapse in Australia: too many bishops and priests stopped talking about Jesus.

Whether from embarrassment or just a feeling that the example and life of Jesus was no longer relevant to Australian life, the churches have certainly stopped mentioning Christ in the public arena. Most Christian statements or sermons don’t mention Him, His Saints, Our Lady, or the fundamentals of Christian belief.

Bishops have replaced all this with endless talk of social justice. These days, the major Christian topics are refugees, indigenous disadvantage, and climate change. Over the last 30 years, some of these promotions have been increasingly desperate and frivolous, particularly around the abolition of plastic bags and the development of more bike lanes.

Yet, again, no mention of the faith.

Further, in recent decades the focus of the Church has been to highlight the intelligence, compassion, and skills of women. Unfortunately, all this promotion was only related to one issue—getting women into Church leadership. Whilst traditional Christianity has never downplayed the skills or talents of women, it has not—in 2000 years of history—ordained women as either bishops, priests, or deacons.

The fact that Christ Himself hadn’t involved women in this ministry no longer seemed to matter; plainly, He was a man of His time. But here is the bigger issue: if Jesus so clearly got it wrong on women’s ministry, on what else could He have been mistaken—the nature of marriage, the sexuality of humanity, the beginnings of life, the nature of suicide and the voluntary taking of elderly lives or those deemed useless?

On all these issues, Australian Christian leaders no longer feel

sufficiently convinced to support Christ’s fundamental teachings.

Naturally, women’s issues are of vital and central importance to Australian society. Yet it is an ongoing shame that the Church has nothing to say about another type of woman: the one who has chosen to keep her baby in difficult circumstances; the one who has struggled for her marriage in tough economic times; the one who has worked two jobs to send her kids to school; or the one compelled into a burka, married as a child, and forced to endure female circumcision.

This kind of woman is not worthy of either acknowledgement or support.

Australian Church leaders are also very quick to criticise their own nation and absent themselves from any praise of what Australians do well. Refugee policy has been described as “inhuman and demeaning,” reduction in overseas aid as “a devastating blow to the global poor and a breach of trust with the Australian public,” detention centres as “measures of intentional cruelty.” The trust of Prime Ministers is often called into question, mission activity is seen to be aggressive and lacking in cultural sensitivity, the collapse of Western Christianity is seen to be “a good thing.” Mum and dad shareholders are encouraged to divest shares that are “deeply embedded in damaging corporate behaviour.”

These comments pervade both the statements of Australian bishops and Christian aid agencies.

The prevalent view of Australian Church leadership centres on a general mistrust of wealth creation and hostility to free markets.

This leads to constant calls for wealth transfers in the form of tax increases and increased welfare.

No other options or possibilities are ever considered. Ironically, calls for greater state intervention in solving social problems has historically been seen as an unChristian view. Indeed, the defects

of the welfare state and the horrors of Communist life and oppression have always reinforced the Christian perspective that private individuals, the family, and local communities are the centre of health, wealth, and security.

Australian Church leaders no longer support these values.

Perhaps nowhere is this seen more clearly than in the bishops’ unwillingness to confront Chinese Communism, the vigorous persecution of Christians in that country, the destruction of democracy in Hong Kong, and the threats to Taiwan and other nations, including our own, who beg to disagree with the ChineseCommunist understanding of the world. In the Australian Church, there has been no Christian leader who condemns this brutality or oppression. Nevertheless, in my view, the central crisis of Australian Christianity is yet more simple and more heartbreaking.

One of the great gifts of Christianity to the Western world

was the organised development of local communities. These local “parish communities” were not only the focus of local religious devotion, but they also provided the beginnings of education, local leadership to solve local problems, a centre of belonging, and a protective community for those who suffered from illness and loss.

The beginnings of rudimentary hospitals and security for weary travellers could often be secured under the umbrella of the parish church.

Sadly, the modern Australian equivalent of these local parishes bares no relation to their historic functions or indeed their functions until perhaps the 1960s and 1970s.

Christian parishes today have little connection to community formation, offer nothing to local families, are often closing their parish education centres, and have no mechanisms for looking after the elderly, sick, or those suffering from mental illness, depression, or drug addiction. All

these functions are now outsourced to large professional organisations who may carry Christian names but, as we all know, have virtually no connection to communities or local networks.

The reality of the modern Christian parish is one of closure or merger.

Yet religious bodies that disrespect “the local” soon find they have nothing much to offer anyone.

Yes, I know that bishops of all flavours are besotted with climate change, refugees, and indigenous Australians. But leaders who abandon “the local” throw away the uniqueness of who we are. Above all, Christian leaders should know this. Yet it appears the final indignity for the faith is one of blandness and endless decline into irrelevance and slumber.

Christianity is a religion of resurrection and hope. The people of the Church know this. Yet as Christian leaders look to other inspirations, it’s time for the Church to start again.

The past couple of years have not been cheerful. The Chinese-virus pandemic has taken perhaps 20 million lives, perhaps more. Western nations, in their efforts to defeat it, have demonstrated a disappointing combination of medico-scientific ineptitude and totalitarian controlfreakery.

The churches have suffered a loss of congregations during the succession of lockdowns, and some may well stay away even when the pandemic has at last ended. Millions of little children around the world are killed every year by baby-butchering, for the social convenience of their mothers, aided and abetted by a medical profession that no longer utters the Hippocratic Oath, whose first principle is “I will do no harm”.

The Taliban, aided by Communist China and the Communist leadership of the once “Democratic” party in the United States, have retaken Afghanistan. Despite the promises they made, which were widely and uncritically reported in the anti-Western Western news media, are rapidly reducing the nation’s women to the status of slaves once again.

The Western ‘classe politique’, arguably more scientifically illiterate and mathematically innumerate than at any time since the Dark Ages, continue to destroy the economies of their countries by their naïve and ignorant superstitious belief in the climatechange dogma.

China now controls more than 90% of the global output of lithium carbonate, whose price is rising steeply as Western nations

foolishly and expensively destroy the petroleum industry and forbid their citizens to buy new internalcombustion cars.

What is more, just as the Wuhan virological laboratory inserted four sequences from the spike protein of the HIV virus into a bat coronavirus to make it more transmissible, we know that by inserting sequence from common-cold coronaviruses into the spike protein of the Chinese virus it and other such pathogens can be rapidly and efficiently neutralised in future.

The Church, whether the Holy See or the bishops’ conferences like it or not, is going to have to listen to and learn from the traditional orders whose steadfast adherence to the Faith of our fathers has kept their churches filled while the mainstream churches are ever emptier.

Wishy-washy, bleating totalitarianism among the bishops will have to be replaced by true faith in the original message of the Lord of Life: we shall expect, and accept, nothing less.

EUCHARISTIC MOTHER Mary Kearns

On the first day of the New Year the Church celebrated the solemnity of Mary the Mother of God. This title is many-layered and throughout the many feasts of Our Blessed Lady in the year, these layers are given various distinctions. Saint John Paul II, in his encyclical on the The Church and the Eucharist, Ecclesia de Eucharistia, coined a new phrase signifying the unity of the Blessed Virgin Mary with the Sacrament of the Eucharist.

The phrase is “The Eucharistic Face of Christ.” In so doing, the Pontiff drew the Church’s attention to the two poles of his own piety - The Eucharist and Our Blessed Lady.

John Paul teaches us that worship of the Blessed Eucharist and devotion to the mother of Jesus are profoundly related. At the Incarnation, Jesus became present in the womb of Mary. We know from St.Luke’s Gospel that Mary pondered in her heart the great mysteries in which she was participating.

The Fiat she had pronounced as a response to the Angel Gabriel is a response for all time, echoed when the redeemed people of God utter the great Amen that follows the doxology at the end of the Eucharistic Prayer. “Amen” So be it.

This Amen is repeated when the sacred host is received by each person at Holy Communion. Saint John Paul tells us this “Yes” on the part of Mary anticipated the sacramental reality of our receiving the Lord’s Body and Blood under the appearance of bread and wine.

Mary was the first person to see the face of Jesus at his birth in Bethlehem. The tiny body she wrapped in swaddling clothes

The Visitation - Jacques Daret (1401 - 1468) would one day be wrapped in a burial shroud following his brutal crucifixion. But in addition to her sharing in the Eucharistic banquet, an indirect picture of Mary’s relationship with the Eucharist is seen, beginning with her own interior disposition.

During her entire life, Mary is a “woman of the Eucharist.” When she visited Elizabeth, who was pregnant with John the Baptist, Mary was then bearing within herself the Word made flesh. She was the first tabernacle ever and through her, the Son of God, as yet invisible to the world, radiated his light so that he was perceived by Elizabeth and the babe she carried. Elizabeth gave a loud cry and uttered the words that Catholics repeat every day “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb!”

Looking to Mary as a model, the Church also calls us to imitate her in the relationship with the most holy mystery of the Incarnation.

But there is more. We simply could not have the Eucharist without the Blessed Virgin. It is from her that Jesus received the body and blood that would later be offered to the Father for the salvation of the world. In Ecclesia de Eucharistia the Holy Father shows how the Blessed Virgin guides us towards the Eucharistic Face of the Lord.

Pope John Paul’s devotion to the holy Rosary is well-known. This attains increased significance when, underscoring the relation between Mary and the Eucharist, the Holy Father instituted five new decades of the Rosary. He named them the mysteries of light, and included the Institution of the Eucharist as the final one.

14th January 2022 No-one has a greater right than the Mother of Our Blessed Lord, to guide and teach us to contemplate the face of Jesus. In his encyclical on the Mother of the Redeemer, Redemptoris Mater, the Pope acknowledges the motherhood of Mary during the sacred liturgy when the body of Jesus once again becomes present in the mystery of our Redemption.

Mary’s name is prominent in all the Eucharistic Prayers. The sacrifice of praise is offered to the Father “in communion with those whose memory we venerate, especially the glorious ever-virgin Mary, Mother of our God and Lord, Jesus Christ.”

(EP I) When we pay attention to these words, we are reminded of how Jesus when he was dying, bequeathed his mother to us, represented by John, the beloved disciple. To each of us, the Saviour also says “Behold your mother!”

(John 19: 26-27).

The Gospels do not mention Mary at the first Eucharist. Nonetheless we are told she was present with the Apostles after her Son had ascended to heaven. In the days after the Easter liturgy, the Acts of the Apostles are read and we hear how they prayed with one accord.

We can assume with certainty that Mary was present at the Eucharistic celebrations of the infant Church who met to break bread and fulfill the command of their Master “Do this in memory of me.” (Luke: 22: 19) Saint Pope John Paul reflected on the personal meaning of the holy Eucharist for Our Lady. “What must Mary have felt as she heard from the mouth of Peter, John, James and the other now priestly Apostles, the words spoken at the Last Supper: “This is my body which is given for you” (Luke 22:19)? The body given up for us and made present under sacramental signs was the same body which she had conceived in her womb! For Mary, receiving the Eucharist must have somehow

Catholic Voice meant welcoming once more into her womb that heart which had beat in unison with hers and reliving what she had experienced at the foot of the Cross.”

The titles attributed to the Blessed Mother are many. Among them, the Litany of Loreto invokes Mary as “Ark of the Covenant.” We recall how in the Old Testament the Ark of the Covenant was the place where the presence of God among his people was honoured. But with Mary’s assent at the Annunciation, the Lord became physically present in her womb, making her the new Ark. This same Lord is now held in the tabernacle of our churches. We can visit the Blessed Sacrament to pray and adore the Lord at any time but particularly when the sacred Host is exposed for adoration during Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament.

The unity of the Old and New Testaments is encapsulated within the great prayer of Mary - the Magnificat, where she remembers the wonders worked by God in the story of salvation. The greatest wonder of all is the promise of redemption which Mary anticipates.

The angel had announced that God would give her son the throne of his ancestor David, completing

EUCHARISTIC MOTHER 21 the promises made to Abraham and the fathers in faith. Elizabeth, commended her cousin for believing that the promises made to her would be fulfilled, a faith that would be severely tested in the years to come.

For Saint John Paul, the Magnificat points even further to the final coming of Jesus Christ. “Every time the Son of God comes again to us in the “poverty” of the sacramental signs of bread and wine, the seeds of that new history take root in the world.”

Mary sings of the “new heavens” and the “new earth” which find in the Eucharist their anticipation and in some sense their program and plan.”

With so much attention being now given to the pastoral aspect of the liturgy, we should bear in mind the profound relationship between devotion to Our Lady and worship of the Eucharist. Going back to earliest times, in the tradition of the Faithful, in the liturgy both East and West, and in the Marian Shrines of the world, Mary never fails to point us to the presence of her Son in the Sacrament of the Eucharist.

Prudence And Vaccines - Part 2 Fr Ambrose Astor

Prudence is the mother of all the other virtues. Part 1 of this article looked at Memory and Foresight. Part 2 continues to examine the integral aspects of the virtue of Prudence. Father Ambrose explains. (Fr Ambrose writes under a pseudonym to protect his Catholic ministry) Caution (Cautio) makes use of past knowledge to avoid impediments and evils in the future. The cautious person is very careful so that no exterior obstacles come to vitiate or hinder an act of virtue, for example, by causing unwanted damage of any kind. This is a part of prudence that is most particularly important for doctors.

Having people’s lives in their hands, they must be very cautious in the means they propose to heal or prevent illness. It is not enough to take action that might work. Indeed, the very first principle in medicine is: Primum non nocere – first of all, do no harm. Caution helps do just that. This might also entail renouncing what one thought was a safe course of action when it becomes obvious that it was not.

In our present situation, caution reminds us of the apparent lack of scientific method involved in the development of the current ‘vaccines’, or the quasi-religious zeal involved in promoting them; both of these should set off alarm bells. In the following quote, Dr Robert Malone, co-inventor of mRNA technology, industrial scientist, medical doctor and clinical immunologist with extensive experience at high-level government and pharmaceutical regulatory bodies, describes how caution has been conspicuously absent: ‘The regulatory agencies of the world allowed Pfizer to proceed with human trials and then EUA (Emergency Use Authorization) with a set of data that is grossly incomplete that didn’t even meet the minimum standards of what is normally required for safety toxicology and genotoxicity and reproductive toxicity testing. The appearance is that they were allowed to cobble together information that they had obtained from other RNAs and other vaccines in lieu of doing other studies. They were allowed to proceed on the basis of inadequate information.

It is profoundly demoralising and it is profoundly corrupt. I can’t explain it any other way. The norms I have been trained for years of my professional life...and then none of the rules matter. The rules of bioethics, they’ve completely disregarded. These rules go back to the Nuremberg trials. What

I see is so profoundly disturbing to me. I’m now to the point where my point of view is that the FDA and the CDC are essentially acting outside any judicial restraint. They don’t care what their standard rules are. They will do whatever they want to do. A lot [of] it seems to be driven by what Dr Fauci’s personal beliefs are. And because of the legislation that was put in place at the start of the outbreak – I don’t know whether they can be held accountable – as they may be ex-judicial now’.28 Dr Malone’s concerns regarding Pfizer in particular have been echoed

by Dr Michael Yeadon as well as by current Pfizer researchers who recently revealed the ‘unprecedented serious lack of data integrity’ within the trials.29 Pfizer is the main vaccine of choice for those under 50 and has been approved for and rolled out for use in children as young as five.

In addition, there is another, even more important consideration, which forbids us from dismissing serious evidence against the ‘vaccinations’, namely that the complete ingredient list is not disclosed.30 This is partly due to the drugs being experimental, but also due to the patents. This is unprecedented in medical history – the administration of a drug whose ingredients are not completely known even to the doctors

and nurses administering them, which then of course obliterates the notion of informed consent.

Circumspection (Circumspectio) is closely connected with caution.

It is the disposition to keep track of the circumstances surrounding the situation under consideration. It is the capacity to look around oneself, not to be overly absorbed in one’s own research and findings, but attentive to those of others, to current events, to demonstrable facts. A given course of action might be good in itself, but not in these particular circumstances.

A given piece of information might be at odds with my research, but I must consider it, for I may have been wrong.

Being circumspect connects the dots and obliges us to ask some more hard questions: Why is a dubious chemical immunity that is brief – lasting only up to 200 days and then even going into negative immunity with the possibility of a pseudo-AIDs syndrome –, being preferred to natural immunity which is by far superior?31 Why have the pharmaceutical companies been indemnified from all liability? Why are so many medical professionals ready to lose their jobs and livelihood, or even die for the cause, rather than get vaccinated? Why are medical journals censoring and retracting

14th January 2022 studies which demonstrate the harm of the ‘vaccines’?32 Why the rush to get everyone in the world vaccinated with experimental ‘vaccines’ against a disease with a survival rate of 99.95%?

Why are children, who are not at risk, being forced to get vaccinated?33 Why are pregnant women, who have always been excluded from such experiments, being encouraged to get the jab? Why do we have young, elite athletes dying suddenly shortly after receiving a ‘vaccine’?34 What is going on here?

When we look back at the last forced human experimentation partnered with manipulated social order in a Western Country – the Nazicontrolled period in Germany – we should feel inclined to be more circumspect. Although many are quick to blast such comparisons as ‘conspiracy theory’, we really cannot write this off too quickly as a theory when there are ample warning signs that it is much more fact than theory.

The fear campaigns35, segregation and a two-tiered society based on ‘health’ traits, the building of quarantine camps,36 the demonising of the objectors, particularly experts, as ‘antivaxxers’, and in many countries the denial of healthcare to certain groups (in this case the unvaccinated), all have their equivalent in that dark period

Catholic Voice of history. As Dr Vladimir Zelenko, creator of the highly successful hydroxychloroquine protocol for COVID-19, stated: ‘When it started to rain, Noah was no longer a theorist’.

Furthermore, there is a misconception that the program implemented by the Nazis was an isolated delirium of an Austrian born madman. In fact, human experimentation and eugenics was truly perfected in the United States (particularly California) with the Rockefeller Institute funding many of the early Eugenics programs which were then adopted and implemented in Nazi Germany.37 Understanding (Intellectus) is the ability to grasp practical principles and the nature of various situations – it’s what we call common sense.

It is a fact of experience that people who hold degrees are not necessarily gifted with this kind of understanding.

They might be capable of reciting facts learned from books, but when it comes to understanding the basics of a given situation, they can easily be deluded and fail to see the forest for the trees, especially when the passion of their own theories can easily blind them. Often, all it takes to see through deceitful propaganda is good common sense. One practical point which

PRUDENCE & VACCINES 23 understanding resolves quickly is the use of demonstrably safe and effective treatments of COV ID- 1 9, such as ivermectin ,38 hydroxychloroquine,39 Vitamin C, D,40 Zinc, Quercetin etc. Why this rush for ‘vaccines’ generated via use of aborted foetal cells when practical results documented by numerous physicians demonstrate there are effective and inexpensive treatments?41 There is a lack of common sense in all this.

Shrewdness (Solertia) is what we would call quickness at discerning the means to an end. Some people are shrewd by nature; they quickly find the right answer or course of action in a given situation. Others pick up the habit by lots of practical exercise, trial and error. By gathering the congruent pieces of information, a shrewd person would not fail to grasp that the vaccination drive strongly suggests the ‘pandemic’ is being hijacked for purposes other than health. Upon reading of the ‘Lockstep Scenario’42 in the 2010 Rockefeller Foundation convention documents – the same Rockefeller foundation that was the primary financier43 of the eugenics drive in Germany and the USA – titled Scenarios for the Future of Technology

24 PRUDENCE & VACCINES and International Development, which spells out in perfect precision the events of the last 20 months, including the implementation of biometric passes – a shrewd person would ask quite rightly: has this scenario been planned as a means to another end?

Docility (Docilitas) is the ability to take counsel from others and allow oneself to be led by their better judgment. This interior disposition of promptitude in learning is most necessary for acquiring the virtue of prudence, the reason being that prudence concerns actions in particular situations which are so diversified as to be nearly infinite, such that no one man can know them all. Conversely, the lack of capacity to listen is a sign of imprudence. Who could deny that we see an astounding lack of docility today when governments, media and the public health medical bureaucrats ignore and censor the pleas of pioneering scientists and doctors, particularly experts in the treatment of COVID-1944 or scientists/ virologists/immunologists 45 whose specialty lies in the field of novel gene technology and vaccine development, who are risking their livelihoods and reputations to warn us daily about the number of injuries and deaths, and the facilitation of more virulent disease?

Finally, Reason (Ratio) refers here to the ability to reflect about practical matters, sometimes in depth, and to apply universal practical principles in order to come to a judgment on a given situation. In-depth reflection brings up a lot of unanswered questions: is it rational to continue to oppress the world’s population while ignoring proven medical and long-standing pandemic preparedness principles in

favour of novel and unscientific ideas such as mask-wearing, social distancing and lockdown of the healthy?46 The most vaccinated nations are those which continue to have escalating cases and deaths from COVID-19.47 Yet, developing and Third World nations with vaccination rates as low as 5%, but open availability of ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine, have dropped their cases to a mere 100.48 How can we, without a serious lack of prudence, continue pushing the ‘vaccines’ when we know these results? These are the questions a prudent person must ask. Nor is it an option to reply that our governments could not possibly want to harm us.

Numerous governments have done just that in the course of the last century.49 We must continue to ask the hard questions, at whatever personal risk to ourselves. The future of humanity may depend upon our having the courage to do so. Human beings are endowed universally with an intrinsic right to life and liberty. They are not guinea pigs. When a man no longer has any say over what is done with his body, he is by definition a slave. And when freedom is taken away, it is rarely recovered in a peaceful manner.

Q. What conclusion can we draw from all this?

A. If we summarise what we know from the cardinal virtue of prudence, we can point out the following: Since these ‘vaccines’ have been put onto the market after only superficial testings, there is no memory available to which we can refer. Foresight is not possible except with adequate longterm safety and toxicity data. Hasty marketing denotes a serious lack of caution, and the oppressive mandates

beg the question of ulterior motives.

Practical common sense (reason and understanding) makes it clear that the mandating of experimental drugs is a grave mistake. The whole process, combined with the suppression of highly effective treatment options which then allow the ‘vaccines’ to be used under ‘Emergency Use Authorisation’, reveals a frightening lack of docility towards the numerous brilliant members of the medical profession who are speaking out about the dangers of the ‘vaccines’.

Shrewdness and circumspection both tell us that in this case due diligence has not been done, and hint at a darker agenda at play.

In light of the above one can safely conclude that receiving any of the COVID-19 ‘vaccines’ presently available is an imprudent decision.

Q. Is this imprudence a serious sin?

A. Every rational adult person has the duty to gather information and to make the right decisions that affect his/ her life and those of others. There are several ways of sinning through lack of prudence: 1.) by acting precipitately, without taking the time to consider the situation and ask the right questions; 2.) by acting rashly and with too much confidence in one’s own vision; 3.) by thoughtlessness, not really caring enough to go through the labour of making an informed decision; 4.) by inconstancy, by not following through with what one perceived was the right course of action.

These actions against prudence are, in principle, venial sins, but if they result in grave harm to ourselves or others, they could be mortal sins. For

14th January 2022 example, if someone clearly perceives that the consequences could be serious, and nevertheless were to make a quick decision just to get it over with, they would be committing a mortal sin, because they would be accepting what they clearly see as possible grave consequences. Like the reckless driver overtaking with no visibility, they accept by their grave imprudence the real possibility of death. Or, the man playing Russian roulette: even if the shot is a blank, he has committed a mortal sin because he took his life into his own hands out of thoughtlessness or peer pressure.

Q. But what about our livelihoods?

Would it not be more prudent to take the jab, hope that we won’t be adversely affected, and continue to provide for our families?

A. The vaccination mandates pose a real problem of conscience for those whose livelihood depends on their profession, especially for those with large families. The decision will be a difficult one, and must be guided by prudence. Taking into consideration: 1.) the conclusion of Article 1 in this series, which demonstrated that accepting these ‘vaccines’ in most cases is gravely sinful due to the derivation of the ‘vaccines’ from aborted foetuses and the lack of serious reasons that would justify material cooperation in that evil;50 2.) the very real danger of death, serious injury, or total dependence on future boosters whose effects could be nothing short of disastrous;51 3.) the high risk of various immunological phenomena52 (such as ADE) or even a pseudo-AIDs syndrome, according to many serious virologists and doctors; it would seem that even to maintain one’s livelihood, it is gravely imprudent to take the jab.

Indeed, of what use is a dead or incapacitated father to his family?

The risk seems to be disproportionate.

While it is certainly permissible at times to take a risky course of action simply because otherwise we will die (like a surgeon who will attempt an extreme procedure when it is a matter of life or death), this hardly seems to be the case here. There are other ways of providing for basic needs, even though our quality of life might make us think that we cannot live without a thousand commodities. It is certainly not justifiable to take the jab just to keep the extra car or house, the paid holidays or the social and professional prestige…

The prudential course of action seems rather to plan for the future to sustain oneself by other means or in another profession. This may involve moving

Catholic Voice to another place, out in the country, where it is possible to actually grow and hunt food. This tactic has been consistently employed in times of impending persecution as far back as the Maccabees. This is all the more advisable today when life is dependent upon the very fragile provision of food imported from elsewhere.

Prudent parents will ask themselves what a large city would be like if, for example, a lack of fuel were to make it impossible for the trucks to reach the stores. Imagine a single week without the thousands of trucks providing food? Wide scale famine is a very serious possibility today, and the only people who would survive are those living in the country.

The gravity of the situation requires a spirit of generosity and sacrifice which every Christian soul has a duty to pray and work for. More importantly still, a God-fearing person will place total trust in the Lord and His Blessed Mother. When one chooses to obey the voice of conscience and resist pressure, the Lord provides. Citizens willingly gave up some of their sovereignty — and their privacy — to more paternalistic states in exchange for greater safety and stability. Saint Peter’s Chair At Rome - January 18th Dom Prosper Guéranger OSB

The Archangel Gabriel told Mary, in the Annunciation, that the Son who was to be born of her should be a King, and that of his Kingdom there should be no end. Hence, when the Magi were led from the East to the Crib of Jesus, they proclaimed it in Jerusalem that they came to seek a King. But this new Empire needed a capital; and whereas the King, who was to fix his throne in it, was, according to the eternal decrees, to re-ascend into heaven, it was necessary that the visible character of his Royalty should be left here on earth, and this even to the end of the world. He that should be invested with this visible character of Christ our King would be the Vicar of Christ.

Our Lord Jesus Christ chose Simon for this sublime dignity of being his Vicar. He changed his name into one which signifies the Rock, that is ‘ Peter’; and in giving him this new name, he tells us that the whole Church throughout the world is to rest upon this man as upon a Rock which nothing shall ever move.1 But this promise of our Lord included another; namely, that as Peter was to close his earthly career by the Cross, he would give him Successors in whom Peter and his authority should live to the end of time.

But again, there must be some mark or sign of this succession, to designate to the world who the Pontiff is on whom, to the end of the world, the Church is to be built. There are so many Bishops in the Church: in which one of them is Peter continued? This Prince of the Apostles founded and governed several Churches; but only one of these was watered with his blood, and that one was Rome; only one of these is enriched with his Tomb, and that one is Rome; the Bishop of Rome, therefore, is the Successor of Peter, and consequently the Vicar of Christ. It is of the Bishop of Rome a10ne that it is said: Upon thee will I build my Church: 1 and again: To thee will I give the Keys of the Kingdom of Heaven:2 and again: I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not; do thou confirm thy brethren :3 and again : Feed my lambs; feed my sheep.’

Protestantism saw the force of this argument, and therefore strove to throw doubts on St Peter’s having lived and died in Rome. They who laboured to establish doubts of this kind rightly hoped that, if they could gain their point, they would destroy the authority of the Roman Pontiff, and even the very notion of a Head of the Church. But History has refuted this puerile objection, and now all learned Protestants agree with Catholics in admitting a fact which is one of the most incontestable, even on the ground of human authority.

It was in order to nullify, by the authority of the Liturgy,

this strange pretension of Protestants, that Pope Paul the Fourth, in 1558, restored the ancient Feast of St Peter’s Chair at Rome, and fixed it on the 18th of January. For many centuries the Church had not solemnized the mystery of the Pontificate of the Prince of the Apostles on any distinct feast, but had made the single Feast of February 22nd serve for both the Chair at Antioch and the Chair at Rome. From that time forward, the 22nd of February has been kept for the Chair at Antioch, which was the first occupied by the Apostle.

To-day, therefore, the Kingship of our Emmanuel shines forth in all its splendour, and the children of the Church rejoice in finding themselves to be brethren and fellowcitizens, united in the Feast of their common Capita1, the Holy City of Rome. When they look around them, and find so many sects separated from each other, and almost formed into decay, because they have no centre of union, they give thanks to the Son of God for having provided for the preservation of his Church and Truth by instituting a visible Head who never dies, and in whom Peter is for ever continued, just as Christ himself

is continued in Peter. Men are no longer sheep without a Shepherd; the word spoken at the beginning is uninterruptedly perpetuated through all ages; the primitive mission is never suspended, and by the Roman Pontiff the end of time is united to the world’s commencement. •What a consolation for the children of God !’ cries out Bossuet, in his Essay on Universal History, ‘ and what conviction that they are in possession of the truth, when they see that from Innocent the Eleventh, who now {I68I} so worthily occupies the first See of the Church, we go back in unbroken succession even to St Peter, whom Jesus appointed Prince of the Apostles; that from St Peter we come, traversing the line of the Pontiffs who ministered under the Law, even to Aaron, yea, even to Moses; thence even to the Patriarchs, and even to the beginning of the world !’

When Peter enters Rome, therefore, he comes to realize and explain the destinies of this Queen of Cities; he comes to promise her an Empire even greater than the one she possesses. This new Empire is not to be founded by the sword, as was the first. Rome has been hitherto the proud mistress of nations; henceforth she is to be the Mother of the world by Charity; and though all peaceful, yet her Empire shall last to the end of time. Let us listen to StLeo the Great,· describing to us in one of the finest of his Sermons, and in his own magnificent style, the humble yet all-eventful entrance of the Fisherman of Genesareth into the Capital of the Pagan world.

The good and just and omnipotent God, who never refused his mercy to the human race, and instructed all men in general in the knowledge of himself by his superabundant benefits, took pity, by a more hidden counsel and a deeper love, on the voluntary blindness of them that had gone astray, and on the wickedness which was growing in its proneness to evil; and sent

therefore into the world his coequal and co-eternal Word. The which Word being made Flesh did so unite the divine to the human nature, as that the deep debasement of the one was the highest uplifting of the other.

But that the effect of this unspeakable gift might be diffused throughout the entire world, the providence of God had been preparing the Roman Empire, which had so far extended its limits as to embrace in itself all the nations of the earth. For nothing could be better suited to the divine plan than the confederation of various kingdoms under one and the same Empire; and the preaching of the Gospel to the whole world would the more rapidly be effected by having the several nations united under the government of one common City.

But this City, ·ignoring the author of this her promotion, whilst mistress of almost every nation under the sun, was the slave of every nation’s

errors; and prided herself on having a grand religion, because she had admitted every false doctrine. So that the faster the devil’s hold of her, the more admirable her deliverance

by Christ.

For when the twelve Apostles, after receiving by the Holy Ghost the gift of tongues, divided among themselves the world they had to evangelize, the most blessed Peter, the Prince of the Apostolic order, was sent to the Capital of the Roman Empire, in order that the light of truth, which had been revealed for the salvation of all nations, might the more effectively flow from the head itself into the whole body of the world.

The fact was that there were in this City people belonging to every nation, and the rest of the world soon learnt whatever was taught at Rome. Here, therefore, were to be refuted the opinions of philosophy; here the follies of human wisdom to be exploded; here the worship of

“Offer up everything within your power as a sacrifice to the Lord in an act of reparation for the sins by which He is offended; and of supplication for the conversion of sinners. Thus invoke peace upon your country. I am her Guardian Angel; the Angel of Portugal. Above all, accept and bear with submission the sufferings that the Lord may send you.”

great works thou hadst achieved; all giving thee fresh courage. Thou hadst taught the truth to such of the children of Israel as had embraced the faith; thou hadst founded the Church of Antioch, where first began the glorious Christian title; thou hadst preached the gospel in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia and Bithynia; and assured of the success of thy work, and of the many years thou hadst yet to live, thou didst bring the trophy of the Cross of Christ into the very walls of Rome, where the counsels of God had already determined that thou shouldst have both the honour of power and the glory of martyrdom.’!

The future of the human race, now under the guidance of the Church, is, therefore, centred in Rome, and the destinies of that City are interwoven with those of her undying Pontiff. We, the children of the Church, though differing in race and tongue and character, are all Romans by holy religion; as Romans we are united

by Peter to Christ; and thus our glorious name is the link of that great Fraternity of Catholics throughout the world.

Jesus Christ by Peter, and Peter by his successor -these are our rulers in the order of spiritual Government.

Every Pastor whose authority emanates not from the See of Rome is a stranger to us, and an intruder. So likewise, in the order of our Faith, Jesus Christ by Peter, and Peter by his successor, teach us divine doctrine, and how to distinguish truth from error. Every Symbol of Faith, every doctrinal judgement, every teaching, contrary to the Symbol and judgements and teachings of the See of Rome, is of man, and not of God, and must be rejected, hated, and anathematized. On the Feast of St Peter’s Chair at Antioch (February 22) we will speak of the Apostolic See as the one only source of governing power in the Church; today we will consider and honour the Chair at Rome as the source and rule of our Faith. Here again let us borrow the sublime words of St Leo, and hear him discuss the claims of Peter to Infallibility of teaching. The Holy Doctor will teach us how to understand the full force of those words which were spoken by our Lord, and which he intended should be for all ages the grand charter of Faith.

I gave birth to our fifth child the day before the world shut down in March of 2020. Ben and I held Auggie and peacefully packed our bags, chatting with the postpartum nurses the day I was discharged. Once we returned home, our daughter Sarah came home from school and didn’t go back until six months later for the 2020-2021 school year.
