Bishop Schneider Launches International Crusade Of Reparation For Eucharistic Abuses

We received an email from His Excellency Bishop Athanasius Schneider. He wrote to ask that we spread his new International Crusade of Eucharistic Reparation which he has launched in response to the many abuses against Our Lord in the Holy Eucharist.

No one can judge the state of another’s soul. We have no real way of knowing whether anyone is in a state of grace. But given the intensity of temptation in the world today, it seems safe to say that it’s difficult to stay in a state of grace without living a sacramental life, which includes regular Confession. From that vantage point, it is hard to believe that everyone going up to receive Jesus in Holy Communion is doing so worthily when the lines for Confession are so consistently small.

On any given Sunday, in Catholic Churches across this country and probably throughout the world, hundreds of thousands, probably millions, of people get up to receive Jesus in Holy Communion, participating in what, for many, has become merely a social ritual.

Of those who receive, one wonders how many do so worthily. How many are not in a state of grace and how many believe Jesus is really present Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity, in the sacred species?

Presenting oneself to receive Holy Communion should be a conscious decision, based on a reasoned judgment regarding one’s worthiness to do so, according to the Church’s objective criteria, asking such questions as: “Am I in full communion with the Catholic Church? Am I guilty of grave sin? Have I prepared myself by fasting for at least an hour?” The practice of indiscriminately presenting oneself to receive Holy Communion, merely as a consequence of being present at Mass, is an abuse that must be corrected.

For the most part, there is no malice or ill-intention involved. Yet, there are very real and serious consequences that come down upon the whole household of God for every unworthy Communion committed by God’s people.

So what can we do? Bishop Schneider has asked for the Church to establish in all dioceses of the world an annual “Day of Reparation for the crimes against the Most Holy Eucharist.” Such a day could be the octave day of the Feast of Corpus Christi.

Here’s what St. Paul says:

As a concrete measure to offer to the Eucharistic Lord urgently needed acts of reparation and consolation, each Catholic could promise to offer monthly at least one full hour of Eucharistic adoration, either before the Blessed Sacrament in the tabernacle or before the Blessed Sacrament exposed in the monstrance.

“For I received from the Lord what I also handed on to you, that the Lord Jesus, on the night he was handed over, took bread, and, after He had given thanks, broke it and said, “This is my body that is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way also the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the death of the Lord until he comes. Therefore, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord unworthily will have to answer for the Body and Blood of the Lord. A person should examine himself, and so eat the bread and drink the cup. For anyone who eats and drinks without discerning the body, eats, and drinks judgment on himself. That is why many among you are ill and infirm, and a considerable number of you are dying. If we discerned ourselves, we would not be under judgment; but since we are judged by the Lord, we are being disciplined so that we may not be condemned along with the world. (1 Cor 11: 2334) Does that mean that everyone who is sick or suffering has made sacrilegious communions? No, of course not. But every Sunday, we enter the House of God to worship as a family, the family of God our Father. And

Let us offer our support to this much needed Crusade and pray for the time when all the faithful receive the Our Lord with true faith, such a moment will surely herald a new spiritual springtime for the Church.

We Defeat the Devil with Boldness and Modesty Stefanie Lozinski

A tall, grey building stands against a grey sky, smoke and spire alike reaching towards Heaven.

Thousands of ornate details confess a Gothic ancestry, this sacred place a child of stone born by the toil of generations. The face of the church remains stoic as her stained glass windows burst in the heat, hundreds of hours of labour shattering in an instant. The orange tongues of flame now lap greedily at the fresh air outside, sparking and laughing as the crowd gathers below, hands shielding eyes, mouths agape — mon Dieu! mon Dieu!

This is the scene of the massive fire in France’s Nantes Cathedral.

A volunteer church worker has admitted to starting the three fires inside the cathedral. The suspect, an asylum-seeker from Rwanda is believed to be Muslim as yet his motive is unclear.

Just over a week prior, a Florida man drove his vehicle into a Catholic church and set the foyer on fire while parishioners were

inside the building. On the same day, a 249-year-old California church (which had relocated a statue of missionary Saint Junípero Serra amid the recent protests) was devastated by another fire.

Statues of Our Lady and the saints have been set ablaze, toppled, or otherwise vandalised across the globe.

How appropriate it is that the war against God and the Church is being waged by various means of desecration. Evil cannot create anything. Evil knows only how to destroy. Is it any wonder that our society — demonically marred by 50-plus years of legally sanctioned child murder — is filled with people who are so consumed by darkness that they constantly project their inner hatred and disorder outward?

It is a sobering, cruel thought: we are surrounded by people every day who have effectively given themselves freely to Satan for his infernal use. Lacking the sanctifying grace of God, they are often defenceless against

demonic oppression or even actual possession.

It is easy to forget that the world is not neutral territory, but a battleground, where good and evil clash unceasingly. Although Jesus Christ forever conquered the powers of hell on Calvary, Scripture does not call the Devil the “prince of this world” lightly. As Catholic Answers explains (emphasis mine): “The traditional theology of the Church, of both the Old and New Testament, has always understood that before their fall the angels were given various roles in the governing of the universe. … It would appear that the devil or Satan is the angel to whom was given the care of human kingdoms and societies.

And just as with bad human beings, this angel’s fall did not deprive him for the present time of his role and his power. When a man turns evil, he still has his knowledge and skill and possessions, and so it is also with the demons. God’s Providence has

4 DEFEAT THE DEVIL determined that the domination of the wicked does not end when they sin. They continue to be part of this plan until the end. …

So the very fact that there are good people in the world who follow the Saviour rather than Satan is to him a kind of revolt, a punishable offence and an act of war.

The appearance of Christ’s Church on the scene of the kingdoms of this world is actually the incursion of his enemy into his own territory and requires a violent response. This is why there has been and always will be spiritual war between the followers of Christ the King and the followers of the prince of this world.

The tragic consequences of Original Sin are profoundly obvious in our time. Hatred for the Church and particularly for God’s laws that curtail the indulging of human passions has become the only socially acceptable stance.

Despite the fact that many millions identify as Christians, and that millions of those Christians identify as Catholics, it is clear that this allegiance to Christ against the armies of Satan is merely nominal for most.

Sun Tzu said that “supreme excellence consists in breaking the enemy’s resistance without fighting.” It would seem that the enemies of the Church have taken this advice to heart.

Often-times the situation we face does indeed seem bleak. On the one hand, we must always seek to grow in the virtue of Christian hope and to remind ourselves that this wicked time is necessary to God’s plan. On the other hand, we must go on the offensive and cooperate with the graces of God to bring about His victory over our enemies.

What can be done in the face of chaos?

Wrenching our very culture from the Devil himself is no easy task, but it can be begun quite simply.

Dr. Taylor Marshall is urging Catholics to “take up space” — his particular focus is on encouraging people to display Catholic statuary in front of their homes. Pray the rosary in the streets. Pray before you eat, in public. Make it such a habit for your children that they will automatically do the same, wherever they are. If you wear a mask, wear one with a bold prolife or pro-family message. When you see some perverted Facebook advertisement, make a comment noting your displeasure before you block it.

Catholic women, especially, have a huge role to play in the restoration of Christianity. Needless to say, raising your children every day to love Christ can truly change the world. There is also an immediate thing you can do, whether single or married: dress in a way that sets you apart from the world. Whether or not a person looking at you can immediately tell you’re Catholic is less important than the fact that they will immediately recognise you are not a child of the zeitgeist.

There are hundreds of ideas like these. We must only implement them, on as large a scale as our numbers will allow. Unfortunately, the very simplicity of many of these actions can easily become the biggest obstacle to their implementation. They are seen as irrelevant, ineffective, petty, or the equivalent of praying on street corners as hypocrites do. None of these arguments is accurate.

These tactics absolutely work. The left has been using them for decades to bring society to its knees. As for arguments from humility, we mustn’t forget that we are to let our light shine before men so that our Father may be glorified in Heaven.

It is not humility to accept the false notion of religion as merely a “private matter.” If we do not begin to utilise our rights to live a publicly Catholic life, we risk erasure of even the few remaining vestiges of public Catholicism.

As statues topple and cathedrals burn, we must do everything within our power to light the world on fire, with the flaming love of the Holy Ghost working within our souls and guiding our steps.

St. Ignatius Loyola: The Eucharist And The Chasuble Canon Benjamin Norman I.C.K.S.P.

The Saints’ Attributes Saint Ignatius Loyola is remembered in the first place as the founder of the Society of Jesus, or simply, the “Jesuits,” and one of the greatest saints of the CounterReformation. He was born in 1491 at the castle of Loyola, in the Spanish Basque region. As a youth and a young man he was quite affected and extravagant in his dress, and filled with dreams of military glory. He went on to become a soldier, and while defending the citadel of Pamplona against a French siege in 1521, his shin was shattered by a cannon ball. His garrison then lost courage and surrendered, however the French troops took good care of him and his leg was operated on. He was then put in convalescence.

Ignatius’ health initially took a turn for the worse and he fell under a fever, but on the eve of the Feast of Saints Peter and Paul his condition unexpectedly began improving. He asked for books of military feats but was brought the Lives of Christ and of the saints instead.

holy men and women in works of penance. The seeds of inspiration to pursue a life of Christ-like perfection had been planted.

One of his first resolutions was to complete his education. He humbly bore the embarrassment of studying among schoolboys far younger than he at Barcelona, and in 1526 went on to study philosophy at the University of Alcalá.

In the winter of 1537 he set out for Rome with several companions, with the aim of offering his services to the Pope, during which he experienced a Heavenly vision of encouragement. It was shortly before or after this event that he had the idea to form a religious order under the title of “The Company of Jesus.” It was finally decided by Rome that they would be known as “The Society of Jesus,” and the Papal bull of their founding was promulgated the 27th September 1540.

The Jesuits have always been distinguished by having in their constitutions the charter of specific apostolic works, including undertaking foreign missions at the pope’s bidding, the education of youth of all classes, the instruction of the ignorant and the poor, and ministering to the sick and to prisoners.

One of the most important works of Saint Ignatius’ life was the publication of “The Spiritual Exercises,” a series of retreat-oriented meditations which to this day still form the core of many retreats all over the world, known in the saint’s honour as “Ignatian” retreats.

These meditations are very concise; they are written as a handbook for a priest who explains them to the retreat-goers. Their goal is to help those on retreat to discern the will of God for their lives, and to obtain for them the courage and the strength to follow God’s will.

The saint passed on to his eternal reward in Rome in the year 1556. He contracted the Roman fever and succumbed to it a short time later, on the 31st July of that year. It is on this day that his feast day is traditionally kept. He was canonised by Pope Gregory XV in 1622, and his body lies to this day under the Pozzi altar in the Church of the Gesù in Rome.

retreats, as well as a host of dioceses in countries including Spain, the United States and the Philippines.

He is a saint who spent a significant portion of his life in search of earthly glory, notably on the battlefield. His subsequent conversion and rapid growth in holiness remind us that the only glory that truly counts is that with which we hope to be crowned one day in Heaven, by Our Lord Himself.

His attributes in Christian works of art are most often the Holy Eucharist, with the saint depicted during the celebration of his Mass, or with him experiencing a Heavenly vision in the course of the Mass. He is frequently shown in a very ornately-decorated and ample chasuble, the most prominent priestly vestment of the Mass. He is also frequently painted wearing a black priestly cassock and roman collar, with a black cape as well, sometimes with a badge with the letters “IHS”, an adaptation of the Greek abbreviation of the name of Jesus.

One of the most well-known edifices erected in honour of this saint is the Basilica of Saint Ignatius Loyola, built next to the house where he was born in Azpeitia, in the Basque region of Spain. The house itself has been turned into a museum on the grounds of the basilica.

Prayer: “O God, Who to spread the greater glory of Thy name, didst, by the means of blessed Ignatius, strengthen the Church militant with a new army: grant that with his help and through his example we may so fight on earth as to become worthy to be crowned with him in Heaven.

Prayer Of The Crusade Of Reparation To The Eucharistic Heart Of Jesus Bishop Athanasius Schneider

His Excellency Bishop Athanasius Schneider has launched an International Crusade of Eucharistic Reparation, in response to the many abuses against Our Lord in the Holy Eucharist. This crusade is a direct response to the many sacrilegious Communions and the abuses that have emerged specifically as a response to COVID-19.

Bishop Schneider has written this prayer specifically for the crusade and we encourage readers to recite it regularly: My God, I believe, I adore, I trust, and I love you! I ask pardon for those who do not believe, do not adore, do not trust and do not love you. Censorship

Its sad to read that some Priests have taken it upon themselves to exclude your paper from their churches.

One wonders on what grounds. I find that when you are critical of our Bishops/Priests you always do so respectfully & charitably. Even commencing many articles with a request for prayer for same.

Likewise, when analysing potentially sensitive subjects, like those pertaining to same sex attracted issues, you don’t indulge in personalised or gratuitously offensive language. If you did, I would be the first to complain.

Have these clergy never heard of the concepts of pluralism/diversity, not to mention free will ? Thought censorship/control may be “all the rage” in secular society. We definitely don’t need it in the Church.

Archbishop Diarmuid Martin, followed by the rest of the Bishops, encouraged the nation to vote YES to the 2012 Children Referendum. The latter gave the State unprecedented powers over our children.

The Minister for Children in the last Government was a self-proclaimed witch. That is demonic. The new Minister for Children, just a short time in this position, is already planning to make it legal to mutilate children and does not seem to be considering the concern of parents for their children.

He seems to be associated with Peter Tatchell. For those who do not know him, Peter Tatchell is an activist who is working to lower the age of consent.

He has stated that it is an advantage for children to have sex with an adult.

If the Bishops do not speak out, and act forcefully in defence of parents and their children, given to them by God, can people be blamed for concluding that the Bishops deliberately intended, by means of the 2012 Children Referendum, that our children be handed over to a Godless State?

Ave Maria, gratia plena, Dominus tecum. Benedicta tu in mulieribus, et benedictus fructus ventris tui, Iesus. Sancta Maria, Mater Dei, ora pro nobis peccatoribus, nunc et in hora mortis nostrae. Amen Jesus Christ is being profaned in the way that the most Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is being offered in many of our churches. The Irish government and the insurance companies now set restrictions on how Catholics are to be allowed to worship Almighty God. In most of our Catholic churches in Ireland, Catholics are forbidden to receive Holy Communion according to the norms of the Catholic church.

This is to comply with government directives and insurance company policies, but it is contrary to Church law.

On page 8 of this issue, you will read that Bishop Athanasius Schneider has launched an International Crusade of Eucharistic Reparation, in response to these many abuses.

On page 28, we also give brief details of some of the other abuses that people have called to tell us about. We encourage as many faithful Catholics as possible to write to their bishops if they are refused Holy Communion on the tongue or if they witness other liturgical abuses. We do not expect much to change on account of these letters, but it is important that faithful Catholics create a record of these abuses as a witness to our faith in the Real Presence of Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist.

Mass communities who continue to celebrate the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass with reverence for Our Blessed Lord and who continue to allow the faithful to kneel in worship and adoration of Him whom they will receive on the tongue. It is always possible that our Latin Masses could be taken away from us in these uncertain times, so now is the time to support these communities.

If you are not a regular Latin Mass attendee, then now is also a good time to begin to experience the Mass as it has been celebrated for centuries, through times of plague, times of persecution, times of famine and times of war. It may take a little bit of getting used to, as one has to make an effort in order to be able to participate fully in the Latin Mass. But this effort will be more than generously rewarded by God. Please also support those diocesan priests who are still willing to give Holy Communion on the tongue.

Satan is always on the lookout for priests to attack because he hates the sacramental work that they do and it is important for these priests to know of our support. It is always easy to be critical and there is never any shortage of critics when one seeks to promote the Catholic Faith, but apart from justified criticism which seeks to correct error, we must also seek to build up those who are struggling and to encourage our priests.

What we are witnessing with regards to the ‘new’, corona virus method of celebrating the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass should not really come as a surprise. These recent articles have been looking

at how the mind controllers, that is those who wish to undermine and destroy Christendom, carry out their plans. These people, and the organisations they found and fund, seek to destroy all that is Catholic.

They serve their master, the father of lies and a murderer from the beginning, who has realised for a long time, that the main opposition to his plans comes from the teachings of the Catholic Church founded by Jesus Christ whom he hates. It is possible that some of those who do satan’s bidding do not fully realise what they are involved in. Indeed some of them may sincerely believe that what they are doing is inherently for the good of mankind. But sadly, they are deluded and deceived by their cunning master.

As part of the plan to take down Christendom, it is necessary to break the Christian habits that have been formed over generations and to replace them with new habits which are dictated by the ruling classes. The global lockdowns achieved this purpose. The daily routines of citizens were completely disrupted, and faithful Catholics were forbidden to attend the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass or to go to their local church to pray and to worship Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.

The lock-down restrictions were lifted on condition that the citizens adopted new habits. The wearing of masks, which prevents us from seeing people’s faces, was first of all suggested and then became mandated by law with penalties for those who refuse to obey. We must observe social distancing. We must not shake hands with one another.

School children are to be isolated from each other and will not be allowed to play any games which involve physical contact. No more Holy Communion on the tongue.

There is another agenda behind these restrictions that is being hidden under the guise of protecting one another ’s health from an apparent grave danger.

In the face of this alleged grave danger we are assured that our government will act as our saviour from evil. The Irish government has increased our dependency on their supposed charity, which they distribute from our pockets, and the government has sought to further weaken our dependency on Jesus Christ by declaring that religious services and practices are nonessential.

The general unemployment benefit was increased by more that 50% from €203 per week to €350 per week. The government also introduced a scheme to pay up to 70% of employees wages. This creates an increased dependency on the government, and the government in turn, becomes ever more dependent on the financial bondsmen who lend them the enormous sums of money needed to pay these bills. We are being enslaved.

During the lock-down, essential services were allowed to remain open, yet our Catholic churches were closed by our bishops. What this tells the general population is that the Catholic Church is a nonessential service which has no role in defending and protecting people from plagues or from any other troubles that may befall mankind.

The Church is then portrayed as just another social and charitable institution which has no role to play in safeguarding mankind.

The Irish government closely monitors the reactions of Irish citizens to the ‘new normal’ that they wish to create, in order to make sure that their plans are effective. The market research company ‘Amárach’, whose chief executive officer was based in Leinster House as political director of the Fine Gael party from 2008 to 2010, is paid from our taxes to produce weekly reports on how well Irish citizens are complying with the government’s covid directives (see image from the report above).

The report tracks where people get their ‘trusted; information from in relation to Covid-19. Not surprisingly, in this age of media control and propaganda, the top three sources are; the Department of Health; the HSE; and the World Health Organisation. The top media source for information is the government controlled RTE with the liberal Irish Times coming in third. Online, the heavily censored Facebook and Twitter are the top sources for covid news. Nothing fake to report there.

in certain areas, and only a little dissent is tolerated in other areas.

These government funded national surveys are carried out in order to check the rates of compliance.

I do not believe that the Gardaí will be called in to enforce the unjust laws that insist on the wearing of face masks whilst shopping, because the reports have shown them that there is already a growing 70% compliance rate with the mask directives. Strict, heavy-handed enforcement in this case, could prove counter-productive to their efforts at ushering in the ‘new normal’ In order to defeat the ‘rebels without a mask’, they tell us in their official literature and mask propaganda, that we should not judge those who cannot wear face masks. This effectively neutralises those who seek to go shopping barefaced as a form of protest.

The government seeks to diminish belief in, and reverence for, Jesus Christ, and thus the government ban on receiving Holy Communion on the tongue which is being enforced by our bishops. Those who insist on distributing Holy Communion in the hand only, accuse those who resist

14 MIND CONTROL of making unreasonable demands, despite the fact that the norm under Church law for the reception of Holy Communion is on the tongue whilst kneeling. It is those who insist on Holy Communion in the hand only who are making the unreasonable demands.

Eventually, they may crack down on those churches and religious orders who celebrate Holy Mass in Latin according to the ancient traditional practices of the Catholic Church. If that time comes, faithful Catholics will find themselves in the same position as their ancestors during the penal times. Now is the time to consider and to begin making plans for how we will retain access to the sacraments should the Latin Mass be suppressed. If you doubt that the Latin Mass could be suppressed, just look back at how quickly Holy Mass and the sacraments were suppressed in Ireland back in March.

I am looking at the possibility of having a portable Latin Mass kit with an altar and altar stone for when our faithful priests may once again have to go into hiding and to celebrate Holy Mass in secret. This is not something to take lightly. The irreverence that is now enforced and tolerated in many of our Catholic churches is brought into stark contrast when one sees the reverence of those who celebrate the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass in Latin according to the ancient traditions.

Another factor which should be taken into account and watched closely by Catholic parents is the financial situation of our churches.

The Archbishop of Dublin was recently reported in The Irish Times as saying that income for the diocese had dropped by up to 80% in some cases. The diocese will not be able to maintain all of its properties should this continue.

The Irish government is very interested in acquiring certain Catholic Church properties throughout the country, namely, the Catholic schools. I would not be surprised if the government makes a financial offer for the schools that the Church cannot refuse. This would give the government total control over the Catholic schools and they could finally eliminate the tiny Catholic influence that remains in these schools. The government tried to do this once before and failed, but circumstances are more favourable to them now.

This would then allow government to implement LGBT child abuse strategy the schools unhindered. That

Also, the Irish government, in a knee-jerk reaction to President Donald Trump’s de-funding of The World Health Organisation decided to quadruple Ireland’s donations to the World Health Organisation to €9.5 million using your money.

few people look beyond the local effects of the lock-downs to the indirect global impact especially on poorer countries.

UNICEF - The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund - had the following headline in May of this year.

“As COVID-19 devastates already fragile health systems, over 6,000 additional children under five could die a day, without urgent action” The Lancet Medical Journal published a study in July titled “Early estimates of the indirect effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on maternal and child mortality in low-income and middle-income countries: a modelling study”.

In that study under the heading ‘Findings’ they state.

“Our least severe scenario...over 6 months would result in 253,500 additional child deaths and 12,200

additional maternal deaths. Our most severe scenario...over 6 months would result in 1,157,000 additional child deaths and 56,700 additional maternal deaths.”

It is important to recall that neither UNICEF nor The Lancet are opposed to abortion, and that UNICEF is directly involved in global population reduction schemes through promoting contraception and abortion. Another important point to note is that the Lancet study was funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, which has a financial profit interest in Covid-19 and its treatment. Nonetheless, they highlight an issue that should be of global concern.

Unfortunately, the danger of increased child mortality is being attributed to the Covid-19 virus, whereas the problem is not the virus itself but the global response to the virus. This raises an important ethical issue concerning the global lock-downs. It is possible that

more deaths will be caused by the indirect effects of the lock-downs, then will be caused by the virus itself. In other words, the lockdown ‘cure’, might well kill more people than Covid-19, proving the lock-downs to be more dangerous than the disease.

That most of these additional child and maternal deaths will be in poorer countries, fits in well with the population controller’s objectives of reducing the global population.

Faithful Catholics should take note of all of the issues raised in these recent articles but it is important that whilst we are aware of the details, we do not become obsessed with them or allow fear to dominate our thinking. The Heart Worthy Of The Mother Of God The following extracts are from a book on the Immaculate Heart of Mary written in Italian in 1699 by Father John Peter Pinamonti S.J. and translated into English in 1832.

The Maternity of Mary may be considered in two ways — as it is in the natural order of things, and as it is in the order of grace.

The High Dignity Of The Divine Maternity.

The Lord wished to bestow on Solomon a heart suited to the dignity of a great king. Accordingly the Scripture informs us: “God gave Solomon a greatness of heart like to the sands which are by the shores of the sea” (3 Kings 4:29) We may reason from this what must have been the greatness of the Heart of the Virgin Mary, since it was a heart worthy of the Mother of God. Who can ever succeed in understanding it rightly? “If you seek to know what the Mother was like, you must first know what was the Son,” says St. Eucherius. You aspire in thought to reach up to the high dignity of this great Mother.

But first, if your courage so prompts you, strive to measure the dignity of her Divine Son. For the Divine Maternity can have no other measure than that Infinite One in Whom it terminates. To comprehend it, therefore, you must needs comprehend the Incarnate Word.

You must understand what is meant by a Man Who is God, a God Who is Man — that sublimest work of Uncreated Power and Love wherein the Maker included Himself in His own work, that it might be the highest and greatest of all His works.

The Only-Begotten Son of God — He Who from all eternity received in the bosom of the Father Being without beginning, and Who willed to take upon Himself in the bosom of this Mother new being beginning in time — can alone understand the endless height of the dignity that belongs to His Mother. “He hath created her in the Holy Ghost, He hath seen and numbered and measured.” (Ecclesiasticus 1:9) He Who has formed her from the beginning and entirely for Himself, knows the riches of the gifts He has created in her; and He alone fully knows her dignity. Apart from Him no other may hope to reach up to this high understanding. “So great is the dignity

The former is the less to be esteemed, and yet we are overburdened by its weight of glory. For, in the natural order of things, the Blessed Virgin entered into relationship with God in the first and closest degree. This is called “affinity” by St. Thomas, and from this he proves that there is due to the Virgin Mary that special worship called Hyperdulia.

[That unique adoration which is due only to God is called latria: the veneration due to God’s Angels and Saints, dulia; and to the Blessed Virgin, from her peculiar relation to God, hyperdulia.]

There are other grave theologians who maintain that this relationship with God may be called “consanguinity” [blood-relationship], in the exact sense of the word and in the first degree, such as is the connection of every mother with her son. This is verified all the more in the relation of the Virgin Mary to the Incarnate Word, inasmuch as, in His created generation, she was His only Parent, and thus at once Mother and Father to Him. [Christ, having no earthly father, drew all the substance of His Body and Blood from Mary His Mother, through the operation of the Holy Ghost.

All that is here said is simply the literal explanation of that part of the Apostles’ Creed which says that Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, our Lord was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary.]

That first substance of the Body of the Redeemer was formed from the most pure blood of the Virgin Mary; and from her was the nutrition with which It was developed during His nine months’ stay in her chaste womb, and the virginal milk with which His later growth was nourished. And it was this substance which, by particular Providence, being once united to the Divine Word, remained always the Body of the Incarnate God.

IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY 17

In The End My Immaculate Heart Will Triumph Here wonders and marvels are heaped upon us, as St. Peter Damian exclaims in admiration. That great Lord Who is in all things by His Immensity, in three ways — by His Essence, His Presence, and His Power — is in the Blessed Virgin after another manner, which is beyond all comprehension closer than the mere tie of blood; namely, “by having the same substance as herself.”

Even apart from this, the Virgin Mary should be looked on as forming one thing with her Divine Offspring, just as the gardener considers his tree and its fruit to be one and the same property, and just as parents form legally but one person with their child. With this added privilege, however, the union of the Blessed Virgin with her Son increases beyond measure; for by this, in a certain way, she is not only in blood-relationship with Jesus Christ, but she is as it were of one bodily substance with Him. These are the words attributed to St. Augustine: “The flesh of Christ is the flesh of Mary.”

St. Peter Damian was therefore right when he cried out for very wonder: “Here let every creature be silent and tremble; nor let anyone dare to gaze on the boundless height of this dignity” Yet, as has been said, the esteem due to the Divine Maternity in this natural order of things is less than that which belongs to it in the order of grace. For here, in a certain way, it comes within the order of the Hypostatic Union [that personal union of the Divine and human natures in the Son of God — the Second Person of the Trinity — which constitutes the God-man or Incarnate Word, Jesus Christ. “The Word was God . . . and the Word was made Flesh” (John 1:1). With this Union the Divine Maternity of Mary has an intrinsic relation and a necessary connection.

Hence there is no created gift which can exceed this dignity, just as no creature can rise above her in rank of station. Once you have found the Mother of God, if you go further on you can find only God Himself.

This truth has always filled the Holy Doctors with an ecstasy of mind that appears in their pages, and makes it easy to give examples of their reverent admiration

of the Divine Maternity. The sum of their testimony is found in these words of St. Bernard: “Among sons that are born there can be none greater than Christ; and so among mothers there can be none greater than Mary.”

But we should never end, were we to try to gather together all the praises which the Saints have given to the Maternity of Mary. It is enough to say that the Mother of God is so high exalted that she herself — though enlightened with a greater knowledge than the Seraphim in heaven — cannot fully comprehend the dignity which is hers.

She too, as well as all others, is in the overshadowing of that light which the Angel declared should shine upon her from the Holy Ghost: “The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee; and the power of the Most High shall overshadow thee.” (Luke 1:35) That which is most worthy of esteem in any dignity is not the mere possession of it, but the having merited it. To hold a station of esteem without doing anything to deserve it, is to be like the lilies of the field with the glory of their whiteness: “They toil not, neither do they spin; but God hath so clothed them” (Luke 12:27, 28). This is a blessing given rather than the outcome of virtue. It is to inherit a kingdom rather than to conquer it.

Not thus was the high privilege of Mary. She not only reached the utmost limit to which a pure creature can come, by being the Mother of God, but her coming to this dignity was with merit of her own. The learned distinguish two kinds of merit. One is merit by strict justice, and is called de condigno; the other is merit by reason of the fitness of things, and is called de congruo.

Now it is beyond doubt that the Blessed Virgin Mary had this latter merit of fitness to be the Mother of God. St. Thomas confesses this in the name of all: “Supposing that the Incarnation was to be wrought, she deserved that it should be wrought through her, not by merit de condigno [in strict justice] but de congruo’’ [because the dispositions of her will rendered it fitting that she should be chosen]. And this is the least which the Holy Fathers can have meant, when they exalt so loudly the merits of the Blessed Virgin to be chosen as Mother of the Most High.

Time For The Marxists To Learn That “Diversity” Works Both Ways Christopher Monckton of Brenchley

One of the many shoddy strategies of the fanatically antiChristian Marxist far Left is the exploitation of slogan words such as “diversity”. The totalitarians do not mean “diversity” when they say “diversity”. They mean that the only opinion that is permitted is their own.

In once-Catholic Italy, of all places, the President and Prime Minister have both spoken out in favour of a new law under which, if it is passed, a priest who dares to preach from the pulpit to the effect that children are best brought up by a normal married couple rather than two men or two women, or ventures to read Chapter 1 of the Epistle of St Paul to the Romans from the lectern, may be subjected to any or all of the following penalties: 1. Six years in prison; 2. Withdrawal of necessary documents, including but not limited to passport, driving licence and hunting licence; 3. A hefty fine, combined with judicially-ordered confiscation of the priest’s house; 4. An obligation to do unpaid community service; 5. An obligation to observe a night-time curfew on release from prison.

These penalties, singly and in combination, are considerably more severe than the penalties inflicted on homosexuals when – for medical reasons – the practice of homosexuality was an imprisonable criminal offence.

It is worth noting that even today, with modern medicines, homosexuality is at least as dangerous to its practitioners as

It shortens the average lifespan by between 8 and 20 years.

However, a priest who makes the common-sense suggestion that in view of the continuing medical danger arising in particular from male promiscuous homosexuality it would be a good idea for the State to explain the danger to its citizens, just as it does with smoking, will run the risk of shortening his own freedom by six years.

The Italian Bishops – not as timid as our own – have spoken out against the new legislation. They say, rightly, that it is unnecessary, and that it curtails freedom of expression.

The Bishops said there should be no discrimination based on sexual orientation, and no prejudicial treatment, threats, aggression, bullying or stalking. But, they went on, an objective examination of

current anti-discrimination law in Italy shows that “there are already adequate safeguards protecting and repressing any violent or persecutory behaviour.”

President Mattarella said: “It is the task of the State to guarantee the promotion of the individual not only as an individual, but also in interpersonal and emotional relationships.”

The Prime Minister circulated a blethering tweet waffling to the effect that all political parties should “converge on a law against homophobia which also points to a robust action of cultural training: violence is a cultural problem and a social responsibility.”

But not a word from either of these two sounding a warning to homosexuals that what they do is so dangerous as to be life-threatening.

To fail to sound such a warming is to discriminate against homosexuals.

As faithful Catholics are forced to contend with State imposed restrictions on worship it is opportune moment to remind ourselves of what the Holy Mass meant to our ancestors who risked death just to be present.

They leave their homes at midnight for the long cold trek. They come from hills and bogland – shadowy forms moving through the night.

There are men and women, some old and infirm, the younger ones leading or carrying children. Silently they stumble over rough ground, sometimes wading through streams so that their footprints cannot be found. Over fields and through ditches they follow the trail that leads to the sacred place hidden in the trees. They know the agreed signal – an old woman had shaken a tablecloth outside a cottage door and the word had spread. A priest had come and Mass would be said at the Rock in the early hours of Sunday. If time and safety allowed there might be time for Confession and maybe get the sick blessed as well.

They reach the appointed place.

Low voices are heard from behind an improvised curtain. No-one knows the priest’s identity. This is the sanctuary area where the priest and his young server are preparing the bread, wine and water along with the sacred vessels and linens to be used in the Mass. An altar had been built from loose stones and over the stones is laid a large flat rock taken from a ruined church. A rough cross has been carved onto its surface. Men, women and children kneel, waiting for the Mass for which they risk everything. They are on holy ground, where the great God of heaven and earth will descend to meet his people. All of nature is still.

From our history we learn that from 1536 to 1829 the Catholic Church in Ireland suffered almost continuous persecution, apart from short respites during the brief reign of Mary Tudor and following the Irish victory at the Battle of Benburb in 1641. This was due to the anti-Catholic policy of Henry VIII, continued by Elizabeth I and

later by Oliver Cromwell during which Catholics were massacred and many towns and villages burned to the ground. Land was confiscated by Crown forces and given to soldiers. Anyone in Holy Orders was commanded to leave Ireland and those who defied this command were ruthlessly hunted down and executed.

Every strategy possible was used by both clergy and people to preserve the Faith. Much evidence exists as to how the Sacraments were administered. The historian Séamus McManus recounts how at the Ordination of a priest, it was not only the bishop who carried out the imposition of hands. In order that no-one could identify the bishop, several others also laid hands on the man to be ordained. “Bishops and Archbishops, meanly dressed in rough clothing trudged on foot among their people, and often dwelt, ate and slept in holes in the ground. Thus in the bogs and barren mountains, whither wolfhounds and bloodhounds trailed them, the Catholic clergy sheltered all that was noble, high and holy in Ireland.”

It is chiefly from contemporary accounts that we are able to reconstruct what it was like for the people of Ireland who tried to live their Faith during almost two hundred years of persecution.

We are given vivid descriptions of raids, burnings and arbitrary imprisonments and executions.

Bishops and priests were outlawed with a price on their heads. In addition to the constant fear of discovery by the English troops, there was ever present danger from priest hunters. These were individuals who took up the nefarious trade of informing not only on clerics but on anyone who provided safe lodging for them. It sometimes also happened that these

priest hunters, accompanied by soldiers, would seize unsuspecting worshippers. The priest was killed – Mass rocks can still be seen with evidence of blood stains.

Men, women and children were frequently slaughtered at the scene.

Priests and bishops disguised themselves as servants, beggars, grooms and strolling players. In 1618 a report sent to Rome by the outlawed Archbishop of Cashel, David Kearney, told how priests foiled attempts to capture them.

He gave the following account of how they carried out their liturgical duties.

“It is at night that we perform our sacred functions, that we transfer the sacred vestments from one place to another – celebrate Mass, give exhortations to the faithful, confer Holy Orders, bless the chrism, administer the Sacrament of Confirmation, discharge in a word, all our ecclesiastical duties.”

To escape detection, the bishop often changed his name. When he had to arrange a conference with his priests it had to be in a safe and secret location, perhaps in the home

Because the people were liable to be interrogated at any time regarding the whereabouts of a priest or bishop, it was necessary that he cover his face or even celebrate Mass alone in a room with the people listening outside.

Evidence of the faith of our fathers can be found all over Ireland. Every parish had at least one Mass rock.

These were always to be found far from a road, in the shelter of a wood, or on a lonely mountainside or valley. These are holy places consecrated by the celebration of the Eucharistic sacrifice. The Mass said on the altar of the rock may have been impoverished but it was due to the courage and determination of people steeped in the love of God that despite the danger, this same Faith was preserved for generations to come.

Pro-Life, Pro-Trump Priest Responds To Critics: Democrat Party ‘Allied With Evil’ Fr Frank Pavone with John-Henry Westen

Fr. Frank Pavone is pushing back against those who think his outspoken support for President Trump is inappropriate for a Catholic priest.

In a recent interview with LifeSiteNews co-founder JohnHenry Westen, Fr. Pavone said that if the Democratic Party weren’t so aggressively anti-Catholic, there’d be no need for him to speak up, but seeing how the party as a whole has “allied itself with evil,” he can’t remain quiet.

“The Democrat Party has made a covenant with evil. They are in bed with the abortion industry. They want absolutely no restrictions on abortion. They consider it a basic right, and they want us to pay for it.”

“This is a party now that does not respect the freedom of the Church,” he added. “So if a party doesn’t respect the freedom of the Church, how can the Church be neutral?”

Fr. Pavone is the national director of Priests for Life. He has been in the news as of late due to his involvement in two pro-Trump political organisations: Catholics for Trump and Pro-Life Voices for Trump. He stepped down from the roles he had with those groups a month ago at the request of the Vatican’s Congregation for Clergy.

Some Catholics believe that the request was politically motivated and that it was an attempt by liberal bishops to diminish Catholic support for President Trump in the run-up to the 2020 presidential election.

Fr. Pavone continued his remarks by stating, “Joe Biden says he wants

to go back to ... forcing religious people to violate their faith through the HHS mandate.”

But the Second Vatican Council teaches that the “fundamental” rights of the human person, especially the unborn, and the freedom of the Church must be respected by political authorities.

Westen asked Pavone, a native of New York, to clarify what it is he believes his and the Church’s mission should be in the political arena.

“Our platform as a Church ... is not the platform of any political party. Our platform is the Gospel of Jesus Christ. But when I preach the Gospel, whether that is going to sound political or whether it’s going to help a candidate or a party or hurt a candidate or a party doesn’t depend on us. It depends on them.”

“The Church has a religious mission, not a political one,” he continued, “but … in carrying out that religious mission … we must be passing moral judgments even in matters relating to politics. So it’s not like the Church is saying, ‘Oh, we can’t say anything about politics.’ That’s not the teaching!

And that wasn’t Jesus’s teaching, either.”

President Trump, Pavone said, has stood side by side with the unborn and defended the Church’s freedom from those who want to shut it down. He has “fixed so many of the problems in our country unlike any other president has done.”

Pavone pointed to St. John the Baptist as a historical figure who reminded the political authorities of his own day about the moral law.

Devotion of Reparation To The Immaculate Heart of Mary We have produced a little fold over card to help people to complete the Five First Saturdays Devotion. Our Lord explained to Sr Lucia the reason why the Devotion consists of five first Saturdays. It is in order to make reparation for the five primary offences committed against Our Blessed Mother. We are asked to defend the honour of our Heavenly Mother in this devotion.

1. Blasphemies against the Immaculate Conception.

2. Blasphemies against Her Perpetual Virginity.

3. Blasphemies against Her Divine Maternity, refusing at the same time to recognize Her as the Mother of men.

4. The blasphemies of those who publicly seek to sow in the hearts of children indifference or scorn, or even hatred of the Immaculate Mother.

5. The offenses of those who outrage Her directly in Her holy images.

The card contains a little form (see image below) which you can fill in as you do each first Saturday, and serves as an aid to recalling a specific intention of reparation on each first Saturday and as a record and reminder of what is left to do to complete the devotion.

Coronavirus Stalks In The Darkness But Do Not Be Afraid Msgr. Charles Pope

“You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday.” (Psalm 91:5-6) I write this from my perspective as a priest responsible for the care of souls; I do not claim to be a medical expert. My pastoral concern is that we as a nation and as a Church have succumbed to excessive fear, which bespeaks a spiritual problem. The medical concerns arising from the pandemic are not without merit, but they are not unprecedented. What is unique today is the collective paralysis brought on by this fear. I write to express my concern and to reiterate the constant biblical cry, “Do not be afraid!”

Jesus came to destroy him who holds the power of death, that is, the devil, and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death (Hebrews 2:14-15).

I cannot avoid concluding that many people indeed are “in slavery through their fear of death.”

There seems to be no end in sight for the fear they feel — no solution other than a cure for COVID-19.

Watching the news only exacerbates the anxiety, as the media naturally focuses on the areas where things are not going well in our fight against the virus. It has now become politicised and commercialised, because fear is recognised as one of the best ways to control people, to attract viewers, and to sell products.

What will it take to help people get their courage back? What is the endgame that public officials have in mind? Will there ever be a day when we say, “Let’s all get back to normal?” Will we always have to wear masks? Will we ever be allowed to sing, shout or cheer in public again? Will crowds ever be allowed to gather in common areas and convention centres? Will those who go about living life normally always be shamed and called selfish and irresponsible?

Let’s get into our time machine and travel back just one year. Crowds gathered freely; airports were hives of activity; planes were packed with travellers and concert halls were packed with eager listeners.

Restaurants were full of diners and churches with the faithful. People shook hands and hugged, their beautiful faces uncovered for all to see. People laughed out loud, choirs sang joyfully and stadiums erupted with cheers after a score.

That was a year ago. Now so many are cowering in fear. They view every human being they encounter as a potential source of grave illness or even death. As a priest, I cannot imagine anything more demonic than this sort of fear. Satan wants us to fear and even detest one another.

Our communion with one another is devastated by this extreme wariness.

“But Father! This is a very different virus. It’s extremely potent. We have to do this!” Again, I am neither a doctor nor a scientist. But I am a priest, and as such I think we must count the other costs. There is more to life than just not getting sick and not dying. People have lost their jobs; food production has dropped, and famine is just around the corner in some parts of the world.

Routine medical care has been largely suspended.

Important human events like weddings, funerals, the sacraments and enriching cultural events have been curtailed if not prohibited. Schools have closed and few have been permitted or have had the courage to reopen. There is a cost to these losses as well.

We have been through tough flu seasons before without shutting down the country. I remember in

1968 — a terrible year for many reasons — the Hong Kong Flu was raging; over one million died from the flu that year. My grandfather was a doctor and warned us about it, but the world was not shut down. The sick were isolated; the vulnerable were given heightened protection.

I remember seeing “Quarantine” signs on the doors of some of the houses in my neighbourhood. If someone had the flu, the entire household was ordered to stay inside for two weeks, and that very visible sign was placed on the front door. Meanwhile, the healthy went about their work, and life continued. Yes, the death toll was high, but everyone understood that life had to go on. Years ago, there were so many dangerous illnesses to be afraid of — cholera, smallpox, tuberculosis, polio. It takes courage to live, and people of the time had that courage.

In the current pandemic, which is admittedly severe, we have quarantined the healthy along with the sick, the resilient along with the vulnerable. Crippling fear has seized so many people, and at some point, fear begins to feed on itself.

We have shut down our economy, depriving many of their livelihoods and of the dignity that comes from working, from using their talents and from providing for their families.

In the Church, collectively speaking, we too have cowered and capitulated. We have not summoned people to trust and faith. We have hidden our teachings on the role of suffering in bringing forth holiness and future glory. We have not presented the theology of death and dying at a time when it is so needed.

We have limited and even denied the sacraments to the faithful, conveying the silent message that

Some priests who tried to supply Holy Communion to the faithful in a creative manner were criticised by liturgists and bishops. Some tried offering outdoor or “drivein” Masses and were met with rebuke. In some cases, Mass was forbidden by local authorities, and many backed down in the face of this external pressure. While we

could not recklessly disregard civil ordinances, too many of us were content to hunker down and forego public Mass. We would not utter the biblical cry, “Do not be afraid,” out of fear of being called insensitive or irresponsible.

This situation is unprecedented in our lifetime, so it is understandable that we struggled at first with what to do prudentially. But now we must reflect on all that has happened and resolve to never again allow a politician dictate whether, when or

26 BE NOT AFRAID how we may give the sacraments.

Even if government officials can forbid large gatherings, it does not follow that the sacraments cannot be provided at all, via other means. I never refused Holy Communion to anyone who asked me during this time; I merely gave them Holy Communion outside of public Mass. I also continued to hear confessions in the church throughout the period, grateful that my bishop never forbade it or demanded that I lock the church.

What then is to be our role as we go forward? Some universities and public schools have announced that will not reopen for normal, inperson instruction in the fall. Will we simply follow along and refuse to reopen our Catholic schools?

Or will we say to our faithful that it is time to go forth into a world that has never been and will never be risk-free, balancing the needs

How long will we continue to offer public Masses in the current limited fashion? Masks hide the beauty of the human visage and the subtleties of our expressions; will we return to seeing one another smile, frown, laugh, and cry? Will we go back to shaking hands, hugging, and touching one another? Will I be able to offer Mass without retreating immediately back into the sacristy?

Will parishioners be able to mingle and chat after Mass rather than running straight to their cars?

What is our end game? Prudence has its place, but my concern as a pastor and physician of souls is that we are allowing unrelenting fear to drive our response. Until we as the Church confronting the situation and “man up” as Christians should, fear will masquerade as prudence, and folks like me who question whether we’ve gone too far will

be called irresponsible and even reprehensible.

For the time being, follow the recommended precautions, but ask yourself, “When will this end, and who will get to decide that?” The Church, and each one of us, has a role to play in ending the fear that this pandemic has set loose.

COVID-19 can undoubtedly be a serious illness, but contracting it is far from an automatic death sentence. However, getting sick and even eventually dying is a part of living in this world. Some will call me insensitive for even mentioning this truth, but our parents, grandparents, and more distant ancestors went forth daily into a world that was far more dangerous than anything we have experienced.

They lived life, accepting both its blows and its blessings. What about us today? Is God no longer with us? Are sickness and death

14th August 2020 Catholic Voice the worst fate or is crippling fear a far more painful and dehumanising sentence? Isn’t there more to living than just not dying or not getting sick? Will we as a Church be part of this conversation or will we remain fearfully silent? Will we simply reflect the beliefs and opinions of the current culture, or will we influence it with a theology that insists that suffering and death have meaning and an important role in our lives?

No doubt some readers will think me imprudent, irresponsible, and insensitive. I accept that. But my take is that fear is a far more serious ailment than COVID-19. Life is risky, but there is greater ruin for us if we do not accept it and live anyway. At some point we have to break out of the huddle and run the play. God will be with us.

St Thomas Aquinas On The Sacrament Of The Eucharist

Some have said, that after consecration, the substance of bread and wine remain. But this cannot be, for 1. it would be contrary to the reality of the Sacrament; 2. it would be contrary to the form, This is My Body, which in that case ought rather to be, Here is My Body; 3. it would be con­trary to Its due veneration, if any created substance remained which could not be worshipped with Latria, the supreme worship due only to the Creator; 4. it would be contrary to the rite of the Church, according to which the Body of Christ may not be received after ordinary food. Did the substance of bread and wine remain, it would not be lawful to receive one Consecrated Host after another had been already consumed. The position is to be avoided as heretical.

Parenting Roadshow - Back On The Road Just before the Covid-19 lock-down we were touring Ireland with a presentation alerting parents to the dangers posed to their children by the promotion of the LGBT agenda in schools. The presentation consists of three basic parts.

• Part One: shows how the LGBT ideologists have infiltrated many global organisations, including some dicasteries in the Vatican.

• Part Two: shows examples, including videos, of the types of programmes that are being developed in accordance with the World Hearth Organisation Sex Education Guidelines. Many parents will be shocked by this part of the presentation which gives examples from around the world and also includes a section with some examples of what is happening in Ireland.

• Part Three: looks at the role of Catholic Parents and outlines the duties and responsibilities of Catholic parents with suggestions as to how to strengthen your Faith life in order to be able to meet the challenges of rearing children in 2020s Ireland.

We are happy to host this presentation in small groups of from six to twenty parents, either in peoples homes or in other small venues.

Given the formation of the new government and the worrying choices of Ministers in the Departments of Children and Education, and with a very strong LGBT emphasis in the new programme for government - it is vital that we get this message out to as many parents as possible to encourage and to give hope to Catholic parents.

“Promoting, Defending, Teaching Catholicism” “Helping Catholics to live out their great calling as Children of God” We have been contacted by people from all over the country since placing the notice below about the right of Catholics to receive Holy Communion on the tongue whilst kneeling.

There is no doubt that the risk of profanation of Jesus Christ in the Blessed Sacrament has increased since our government and the ecclesiastical insurance companies have imposed restrictions on how the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is celebrated.

We have been told of elderly people being turned away from the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass because there are already fifty people in the Church. We have been told of an elderly person in a wheelchair being turned away from Jesus Christ in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.

We have been told of certain priests insisting that people wear face masks whilst attending the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. Other priests forbid their parishioners to either kneel or stand whilst at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. Now if someone is already in the church and is practising social distancing, how can the act of standing up or kneeling down contribute to the spread of the covid-19 virus? It also goes without saying that people who don’t have the virus cannot spread it. Some of these priests seem to be acting irrationally out of fear.

Holy Communion on the Tongue is a Right “In distributing Holy Communion it is to be remembered that “sacred ministers may not deny the sacraments to those who seek them in a reasonable manner, are rightly disposed, and are not prohibited by law from receiving them”. Another priest tells his parishioners that they must hold their hands out flat to receive Holy Communion whilst the minister ‘drops’ the Sacred Host into their hands.

In other churches people are asked to wait until after the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is over before receiving Holy Communion in the hand. They are told to sanitise their hands before receiving the Sacred Host and to exit the church immediately after receiving the Sacred Host.

This is despite the instruction in Redemptionis Sacramentum 92, which states with regard to receiving Holy Communion in the hand: “However, special care should be taken to ensure that the host is consumed by the communicant in the presence of the minister, so that no one goes away carrying the Eucharistic species in his hand. If there is a risk of profanation, then Holy Communion should not be given in the hand to the faithful. (RS 92) We have even been told of one case where someone found a broken consecrated host on their seat after they returned from receiving Holy Communion.

The people who contact us are very upset at how Jesus Christ is being treated in our Catholic churches, some to the point of tears.

We recommend that people write a respectful letter to their bishops telling them exactly what they tell us, because the bishops need to know that Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ is being profaned in Ireland’s Catholic churches. It is important to create a record of these abuses so we encourage anyone who has experienced any of these types of abuse of the Blessed Sacrament to write to their bishop.

Those who will not receive Holy Communion in the hand are criticised for ‘insisting’ on receiving on the tongue. The opposite is the case. The only ones who are insisting on a particular way of receiving Jesus Christ in the most Holy Sacrament of the altar, are the ones who insist that Holy Communion must be received in the hand.

Faithful Catholics must remain calm and we must pray for perseverance during this trial which is permitted by Jesus Christ Himself. Anarchists Are Attacking Churches Because They Represent Order, Morality, Stability Religion expresses the eternal principles of natural law. It calls us to right reason, to purity of heart, to love of our fellow human beings.

More and more, it feels like we’re living in apocalyptic times.

Disorder increases around us.

Monuments and public buildings are being defaced or destroyed.

Businesses are looted. Even residences have been put to the torch. And now churches and religious statuary are under assault.

For many people, attacks on structures associated with faith seem to defy explanation. The protests and rioting are supposedly political in nature. What have houses of worship or religious symbols to do with government policies, abuse of police power, structural injustice?

There is a reason why churches have become targets, of course, and it’s quite obvious.

Churches are the keepers of society’s standards. Religion expresses the eternal principles of natural law. It calls us to right reason, to purity of heart, to love of our fellow human beings. And to proper behavior.

God gave Moses the Law on Mount Sinai. He codified and preserved it as the Ten Commandments. Judaism and Christianity have safeguarded

We need law: as much law as necessary, as little law as possible.

From an anarchist point of view, religion and civil authority are two sides of the same coin. That’s why the French Revolution directed much of its wrath at the Church.

It’s why Marx and his Communist successors made suppression of faith a high priority.

Radicals and revolutionaries often appeal to Christian ideals for justification of their actions.

They’re especially fond of quoting Jesus’ calls to charity.

But these citations are false. To be a believer is to seek social improvements through love and prudence, to better the lives of individuals, not to exploit group claims in order to destroy the very institutions that offer opportunity and hope.

To identify with the Church is to live morally and maintain ethical standards. This precludes wanton violence and dissolute living disguised as principled activism.

Back in 1947, the famous religious broadcasting pioneer, Bishop

Fulton J. Sheen, warned that the end times would see evil presented as good. He predicted that the antiChrist would: “…come disguised as the Great Humanitarian; he will talk peace, prosperity and plenty not as means to lead us to God, but as ends in themselves… he will be so broadminded as to identify tolerance with indifference to right and wrong, truth and error; he will spread the lie that men will never be better until they make society better and thus have selfishness to provide fuel for the next revolution …”

The good bishop’s prediction has been amply proven.

An unfortunate condition for us living in this time is that our churches and our faith are going to be put to ever greater tests. Some of us may experience actual violence at our religious services. We might have to clean up and restore our ruined houses of worship. We may run physical risk ourselves.

But this is a time for living with danger — just as in Jesus’ parable, the wheat and weeds grew up together until the harvest.

Be assured, the harvest will come.

Law will remain. Faith will last.

God will prevail.
