Holy Communion During The Time After Pentecost Dom Prosper Gueranger - Extracts From The Liturgical Year

If, in the early stages of the liturgical year, in Advent, at Christmas, and during the periods of Septuagesima and Lent, when there was question of nothing beyond a preparation for the divine mysteries which wrought our salvation — if, in the name of holy Church, we then invited the faithful to have recourse to the sacrament of our Lord’s Body, as being the heavenly nourishment that would support them in the glorious career on which they had entered; now that the work is done, that they have risen again with their Redeemer, that they have followed Him, by their desires and their hopes, even to the very summit of heaven — now that the Holy Ghost has come down upon this earth, that He might complete within them the work of their union with God, surely, nothing could profit them more than that they nourish themselves, and even more frequently than before, with the Bread of life, which came from heaven, that He might give life to the world.

From our first entrance into the new season, which we are now passing through, holy Church has, by the great feast of Corpus Christi, brought us face to face with the august mystery, which is both the sacrifice whereby God receives the honour due to Him, and the sacrament containing within itself the nourishment of our souls. We have now a clearer understanding of the unspeakable gift which our Saviour vouchsafed to bestow upon us the night before His Passion. We now see more plainly the nature and greatness of the homage which earth gives to its Creator, by the ceaseless offering of the holy sacrifice of the Mass. We now know, so much better than formerly, what that deifying relation is which is made to exist between God and the soul by means of the participation of the sacred Host. The Holy Ghost has shed His light upon all these truths;

He has opened out to us the very depths of the mystery shown to us from the outset-the mystery, that is, of the Emmanuel, or God with us.

Now that we are so fully initiated into the whole of God’s work, we understand better that great text of the Gospel which says: ‘The Word was made Flesh, and dwelt among us.’ We grasp the meaning more completely; we can give it a more literal, and equally faithful translation, and say: ‘The Word was made Flesh, and took up His dwelling WITHIN US.’ All this has increased in the Christian the desire of assisting at the holy sacrifice. He says to himself, as did the patriarch of old: “Truly, the Lord is in this place, and I knew it not”; my faith was sound, but I did not perceive, as I do now, the immensity of what our Lord did at His last Supper. In the same way, having now a clearer knowledge of the union, which is brought about even in this present world, between God and the soul that is nourished with the living Bread, whereby that soul is transformed into its Creator, the Christian longs more ardently

than ever for the enjoyment of that Lord who, even during this mortal life, gives us, by means of the Eucharistic Bread, not only a foretaste, but the very reality of that which awaits us in heaven. We may truly assert that the keeping up of that state which we have already described in the third chapter, and which is the state both of the Church herself and of the faithful soul during this period of the liturgical year, is the joint work of the Holy Ghost who abides within us and of the Eucharistic gift, in which the Son of God ceases not to act for the preservation, increase, and development of the divine life which He came to bring us, and of which He thus speaks: ‘I am come that they may have life, and may have it more abundantly.”

Act of Faith: Now that I am about to unite myself to thee in the mystery of thy love, I must first profess that I believe it to be truly thyself, Oh my God — thy Body, thy Soul, thy Divinity, that thou art going to give me. The first duty thou asks of me, now that thou art coming to me, is the act of my faith in this deep mystery. I make it; and my understanding is happy at thus bowing itself down before thy sovereign word. Thou, Oh Jesus, art the truth; and when presenting to thy disciples the bread changed into thy Body, thou said to’ them: ‘This is my Body!’ I believe thy word; I adore ‘the living Bread, come down from heaven to give life to the world.’ The grace of the Holy Ghost, whom thou hast sent me, enables me to relish this marvel of thy all-powerful love. This love of thine was not satisfied with uniting thee to the human nature, which thou assumed in Mary’s womb; it would, moreover, prepare for each one of us, by means of the heavenly food of thy sacred Flesh, a real and mysterious union with thee, which none but thou could have planned, none but thou could have achieved.

22-Year-Old Catholic Woman Explains Why She Only Receives Holy Communion On Tongue Patrick Hayes

Theresa Habsburg said her reverence for the Holy Eucharist has been deepened by attending the Traditional Latin Mass.

As part of a conference on the importance of receiving Holy Communion on the tongue, a young Austrian Catholic credited the Traditional Latin Mass with increasing her reverence for Holy Communion. “The fact that I started attending the Traditional Latin Mass, for me, it made an unbelievable difference,” Theresa Habsburg told LifesiteNews’ JohnHenry Westen.

The conference hosted by Voice of the Family brought together prolife leaders and Catholic scholars to explain the need for Catholics to receive Holy Communion on the tongue.

Theresa Habsburg is a 22-year-old Austrian Catholic who organised a group of young Catholics after the height of the coronavirus pandemic to call on Austrian bishops to bring back the Mass.

During the conference, she discussed her devotion to receiving Holy Communion on the tongue.

She shared that she had not always received Holy Communion on the tongue, but her understanding and reverence for the Holy Eucharist has grown over time.

She pointed out that the lack of access to the sacraments, especially

to the Holy Eucharist, during the coronavirus lockdown helped her see the importance of receiving Holy Communion and doing so in the proper manner.

“I kind of came to realise how integral it is that we are able to receive the Eucharist and go to Mass. I also with that, came to this very deep understanding that there is also a right way to receive Christ.

Because if we do believe what we say we believe, which is quite an outrageous thing to believe if you think about it, then I feel like there’s not much of a grey zone.

There can’t be much of a grey zone … So if we actually believe we’re receiving the true body of Christ, if we actually believe that, then there is only one way to receive the body of Christ.”

Habsburg now sees the reception of Holy Communion on the tongue

as the only way to receive Holy Communion. We need to “at least try to attain (the body of Christ) with as much humility and as much grace as possible or so to receive him in a way that is as worthy as we can.”

Finally, Habsburg encourages other young Catholics to seek out a deeper understanding of Holy Communion. Specifically, she encourages young Catholics to attend the Traditional Latin Mass.

“The fact that I started attending the Traditional Latin Mass for me it made an unbelievable difference … I was very skeptical at first, but to me that made a world of difference because in today’s world everything about you,” Habsburg said. “The whole structure of the (Latin) Mass is so away from the self and towards God.”

St. Vincent de Paul: The Zuchetto and the Orphan Canon Wulfran LebocqI.C.K.S.P.

The life of St. Vincent de Paul and the grand scope of all his apostolic works are difficult to adequately capture in one short article. He is one of the most beloved saints of the modern era. He was born in the southwest of France in 1580 to a family of peasants, and ordained a priest in 1600. When travelling by sea in 1605, he was taken prisoner by Turkish pirates and sold as a slave in Tunis.

In 1607 however, he managed to escape with his master, who by Vincent’s good example had been converted to the Faith. He then served several years as the tutor of an illustrious French family, after which he took up missions among the peasantry. A number of welleducated priests from Paris had met him and, inspired by his example, joined him in his work. They would found conferences of charity for the poor everywhere they took up a mission.

St. Vincent eventually determined to found a religious institute of priests for the evangelisation of country people. This was to be the Congregation of Priests of We are pleased to have received many positive comments about the new magazine size of CatholicVoice.

the Mission. He became as well the director of a good number of seminaries; eleven at the time of his death.

He began a series of open retreats for both clergy and laity, in which a total of over twenty-thousand souls would eventually participate.

He also founded multiple charitable associations for women, including an institute of women religious, the Daughters of Charity. He added to their ranks a good number of young laywomen who would visit the poor and render them charitable services. Thousands upon thousands of poor individuals had been succoured by these various associations by the time of the saint’s death.

The saint’s love and care were directed in large part as well to the convicts of the galleys, who lived in utter misery. They were crowded onto ships or in dungeons in chains, given only black bread and water for sustenance, and covered in vermin and ulcers.

Their morals were even more pitiful than their physical misery. The saint resolved to improve both of these. He would visit these convicts in Paris, treating them with great kindness and rendering them all sorts of services, no matter how repulsive.

The poor slaves of Barbary were the objects of Vincent’s greatest devotion, for he had once shared their unfortunate lot. These twenty-five to thirtythousand souls were mostly Catholics; kidnapped from their families by Turkish Corsair pirates. They were made to perform back-breaking labour and given no care, neither for body nor soul. The saint sent them a priest and a brother to minister to them in 1645; these would soon be followed by others.

He also founded a large number of soup kitchens all over France. These fed fifteen to sixteen-thousand hungry bellies on a daily basis, as well as provided shelter to hundreds of homeless and medical care for the sick.

The saint was in addition a firm defender of the Faith against the Jansenist heresy, raging through France during this epoque. He persuaded the Bishop of Lavaur to write against the book Augustinus, by Cornelius Jansen, and other works which were sources of this heresy. In his defence of Catholic orthodoxy, however, he never forgot to treat the heretics with charity, thus ensuring the greatest probability of their conversion.

He passed to his eternal reward on the 27th September 1660, in Paris.

He was canonised the 16th June 1737. His feast day is traditionally kept on the 19th July. Vincent is invoked as the patron saint of many places and groups, among them charities, prisoners, leprosy patients and volunteers. His life is for all of us a shining example of all that can be accomplished when we put our trust in entirely in God’s providence, but at the same time work as hard as if everything depended on us. To love God completely, as St. Vincent’s life demonstrates, means practicing abandonment to Divine Providence combined with self-sacrificing toil and generosity.

In artistic depictions, he is most commonly featured in a black cassock and cape, with a clerical skullcap called a “zucchetto”. He is often shown with a poor child close by his side as well, in recognition of his tireless services to the poor and to orphans.

Saint Vincent de Paul has been the object of much pious veneration since his death. His bones have been preserved in a wax figure of his body, kept in the Saint Vincent de Paul Chapel in Paris. His heart has remained incorrupt in the centuries since his death, and is displayed in the chapel of the motherhouse of the Daughters of Charity, also in Paris.

Prayer: “O God, Who for the preaching of the Gospel to the poor and for promoting the dignity of the priesthood, didst endow blessed Vincent with apostolic power: grant, we beseech thee, that we who pay honour to his holiness, may also be taught by the example of his virtues, through Our Lord Jesus Christ Thy Son, Who livest and reignest with Thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, forever and ever, amen.”

The Necessity of Mary in the Last Times

Extracts from True Devotion - St Louis Grignion de Montfort All the rich among the people shall supplicate her face from age to age, and particularly at the end of the world; that is to say, the greatest saints, the souls richest in graces and virtues, shall be the most assiduous in praying to our Blessed Lady, and in having her always present as their perfect model for imitation and their powerful aid for help.

I have said that this would come to pass, particularly at the end of the world and indeed presently, because the Most High with His holy Mother has to form for Himself great saints who shall surpass most of the other saints in sanctity as much as the cedars of Lebanon outgrow the little shrubs...

These great souls, full of grace and zeal, shall be chosen to match themselves against the enemies of God, who shall rage on all sides; and they shall be singularly devout to our Blessed Lady, illuminated by her light, strengthened with her nourishment, led by her spirit, supported by her arm and sheltered under her protection, so that they shall fight with one hand and build with the other.

With the one hand they shall fight, overthrow and crush the heretics with their heresies, the schismatics with their schisms, the idolaters with their idolatries and the sinners with their impieties. With the other hand they shall build (Esd. 4:7) the temple of the true Solomon and the mystical city of God, that is to say, the most holy Virgin, called by the Fathers the “Temple of Solomon” and the “City of God.” By their words and their examples they shall draw the whole world to true devotion to Mary. This shall bring upon them many enemies, but shall also bring many victories and much glory for God alone. This is what God revealed to St. Vincent Ferrer, the great apostle of his age, as he has sufficiently noted in one of his works.

This is what the Holy Ghost seems to have prophesied in the Fifty-eighth Psalm: “And they shall know that God will rule Jacob and all the ends of the earth; they shall return at evening and shall suffer hunger like dogs and shall go round about the city.” (Ps. 58:14-15). This city which men shall find at the end of the world to convert themselves in, and to satisfy the hunger they have for justice, is the most holy Virgin, who is called by the Holy Ghost the “City of God.” (Ps. 86:3).

It was through Mary that the salvation of the world was begun, and it is through Mary that it must be consummated. Mary hardly appeared at all in the first coming of Jesus Christ, in order that men, as yet but little instructed and enlightened on the Person of her Son, should not remove themselves from Him in attaching themselves too strongly and too grossly to her. This would have apparently taken place if she had been known, because of the admirable charms which the Most High had bestowed even upon her exterior.

This is so true that St. Denis the Areopagite tells us in his writings that when he saw our Blessed Lady he would have taken her for a divinity, because of her secret charms and incomparable beauty, had not the Faith in which he was well established taught him the contrary. But in the second coming of Jesus Christ, Mary has to be made known and revealed by the Holy Ghost in order that, through her, Jesus Christ may be known, loved and served. The reasons which moved the Holy Ghost to hide His spouse during her life, and to reveal her but very little since the preaching of the Gospel, subsist no longer.

God, then, wishes to reveal and make known Mary, the masterpiece of His hands, in these latter times:

Devotion of Reparation To The Immaculate Heart of Mary We have produced a little fold over card to help people to complete the Five First Saturdays Devotion. Our Lord explained to Sr Lucia the reason why the Devotion consists of five first Saturdays. It is in order to make reparation for the five primary offences committed against Our Blessed Mother. We are asked to defend the honour of our Heavenly Mother in this devotion.

2. Blasphemies against Her Perpetual Virginity.

3. Blasphemies against Her Divine Maternity, refusing at the same time to recognize Her as the Mother of men.

4. The blasphemies of those who publicly seek to sow in the hearts of children indifference or scorn, or even hatred of the Immaculate Mother.

5. The offenses of those who outrage Her directly in Her holy images.

The card contains a little form (see image below) which you can fill in as you do each first Saturday, and serves as an aid to recalling a specific intention of reparation on each first Saturday and as a record and reminder of what is left to do to complete the devotion.

Letters Bringing Back The Wolf!

Dear Editor, You may remember some time ago that Eamon Ryan of the Green party just threw out the idea of “bringing back the wolf”! These words came sharply into focus over the weekend when despite a mainstream media silence we got a flavour of Roderic O’Gorman’s tweets, that is his ‘protégé’ and brand new Minister of Children’s affairs.

If this sordid and degrading stuff is an indication of what goes on in his mind then surely putting him in charge of implementing policy for the welfare of the Nation’s children would be the same as putting the wolf in charge of the new born lambs.

How in God’s name did such a man acquire such a pivotal position of high office. If Michéal Martin is so

Coverage of Barry Cowen’s travails is just a diversion and smokescreen to give the wolf cover so he doesn’t have to explain himself to the people.

People want to know was Roderic O’Gorman handpicked to oversee a new wave of LGTB propaganda and indoctrination on innocent children down to 4 years in the schools? Effectively, this would mean that children would legally be conditioned and groomed and we would quickly arrive at the point where we have paedophilia by the back door without naming it so.

If this sickness and rot and decay and dissolution of our society is not halted soon then I hate to think what the consequences and punishment will inevitably be for all of us. Silence is consent. He has to go.

Letters Abortion Statistics Dear Editor, The latest statistics that almost 7,000 abortions were performed last year in Ireland for social reasons should give us pause for thought. These reasons are not because of any possible lifelimiting or similar medical conditions in the unborn baby but rather for reasons of simple inconvenience e.g. having a baby now would adversely affect my career, my physique, my life style, my financial condition, my relationship with my boyfriend, husband etc.

Almost 7,000 reasons to terminate the most joyous celebration of bringing a completely innocent human being into the world.

Of course such negative feelings can occur in pregnant women but have we ever met a woman who is not grateful that she did not give in or surrender to them and have an abortion?

Gone are the days when graduating medical students take the Hippocratic oath i.e. to always and only act to preserve life. But for many local doctors, that has all changed and they now facilitate the taking of innocent human life as part of their daily work, in the full knowledge that it has nothing to do with genuine healthcare.

To help them, our Government, through the HSE, incentivises them financially. GPs are paid €450 by our State for every abortion they perform, more than twice what they would typically receive for caring for a pregnant woman and her unborn baby.

No doubt, this is all in the name of “liberty and progress”.

If we think about it, a truly progressive society is one which treats each of its citizens, born or not yet born, with an inherent value and not as something “devoid of value” that can be disguarded as someone’s else’s choice.

What’s the ultimate politicians’ pious platitude - our Government’s preAbortion Referendum pledge that abortion would be “safe, legal and rare”! In 2018, there were 2,879 abortions but last year, only a year later, that figure had more than doubled to 7,000+.

The Mind Controllers Are After Your Children Part 2 - John Lacken Please pause for one moment and offer up one Ave for our bishops especially with regard to the reforming of the Catholic schools in Ireland. Ave Maria, gratia plena, Dominus tecum. Benedicta tu in mulieribus, et benedictus fructus ventris tui, Iesus. Sancta Maria, Mater Dei, ora pro nobis peccatoribus, nunc et in hora mortis nostrae. Amen In my last article I began to look at how mind control techniques are being effectively used to change the social and political landscape of Ireland away from traditional Catholic thinking.

I mentioned the Communist system of shame, confession and then reeducation. The Communist system, which Our Lady warned us about when she appeared in Fatima, is a brutal method of controlling society which resorts to violence against, and imprisonment of, those who refuse to bow to the Communist party leaders. In our Western world, the communist mind control techniques have been softened and adapted to generally exclude violence, but they are still very effective in producing societal change and in getting people to accept immorality and falsehoods in the name of progress.

The use of such techniques to influence people’s behaviour, thinking, and actions, is not always done for a bad purpose. I stood as a candidate for the Christian Solidarity Party in the 1997 general election in the Sligo Leitrim constituency. I had no political experience and very little idea of what I was doing. However, we were helped by someone who had defected from one of the two main political parties in Ireland. This

man, being a Catholic, was opposed to divorce and was effectively sidelined by the party to which he belonged, because he refused to go along with the party’s changing policies on divorce.

I had organised a meeting of supporters to prepare for the canvas of the constituency in a local hotel and this man said that he would come along. I gave a talk at the meeting and things were drifting and without any real focus. As I said, I had never before in my life been involved in politics.

The next thing that happened, was that this man stood up and spoke very briefly to the people at the meeting in a nonchalant way. I cannot recall exactly what he said, just that it was very brief. He then sat down.

Someone at the meeting stood up and responded to what he had said.

It is hard to describe exactly what happened next, but this man, this defector from one of Ireland’s main political parties, suddenly came alive. He stood up in response to what had been said and it was like watching an expert fisherman playing a fish. Within minutes he had managed to organise the volunteers for every electoral area in the constituency.

After the meeting, we were sitting together in the hotel and I remarked on what had just happened. I asked him how he had done it and if he had been using some psychological techniques in order to get the people to respond. I was amazed at what I had witnessed; at how a group of people, with little direction and focus, had very quickly been dynamically marshalled into service for the cause.

He then told me some of his history with his former political party. He was amongst a group of forty-one specially chosen individuals who had been trained in how to use certain techniques with people to manage elections and to get the most out of people for the specific purpose of getting party candidates elected. Some of the techniques that he described to me, which were not used at that meeting, were questionable from an ethical point of view. I was personally not very comfortable with the use of any of these techniques even though they were being used for a good cause; to promote Christian values in society.

He also told me of other somewhat humorous techniques used by the party. A government minister appearing on national television with a hole in his shoe. Another minister appearing on national television wearing odd socks, which was commented on by the presenter.

These incidents were not accidents, the political party was using subtle psychological techniques in order to create a certain perception amongst the electorate which would make them sympathetic to the party’s candidates at the ballot box.

The mainstream political parties spend millions of your taxes on public relations experts who devise psychological strategies designed to increase their candidates profiles in the public eye. In March 2019, the Irish Examiner reported that Leo Varadkar’s department had spent €1.8 million on advertising.

We noted in our May-June Lumen Fidei bi-monthly newsletter, that the Fine Gael party was using the Covid-19 scare as a public relations exercise which gave them unprecedented and free access to

the national airwaves. The amount of airtime they have used during this so-called crisis would have cost them millions had it been paid advertising. Subsequent opinion polls proved how effective this strategy was with the Irish Times reporting ‘a massive boost’ in support for Fine Gael in June.

The use of these psychological techniques is not limited to the world of politics. I once worked in tele-sales, selling IT equipment.

We were given some training by a practitioner of Neuro Linguistic Programming or NLP. This is a ‘New Age’ ideology which was being adapted by many businesses much like Mindfulness is to the fore today.

Afterwards, I was asked by my manager what I thought of the training. I said that I found parts of it offensive and that I was not sure if I wished to remain in sales if we were expected to adapt these techniques. The manager’s response was to try to get me fired. I survived by moving into the purchasing department of the company.

The point I am making here is that Catholics need to be aware that we are being lied to and manipulated on a regular basis by our politicians and by those who seek to shape public opinion. These politicians seek to carry out the commands of a global elite who wish to destroy Christendom.

Their primary targets are the teachings of the Catholic Church and the traditional understanding of family life with a husband and father, married to a wife and mother and rearing their biological children. These traditional families, united in their Catholic and Christian beliefs, are the cornerstone of civil society.

If you wish to replace Christendom, as most Irish politicians do, you must tear down this family cornerstone and create chaos in society in order to replace Christendom with a New World Order.

Who Pulls The Political Strings in Ireland This is where the re-education programmes come in. Anyone involved in the Irish education system is expected to subscribe to the new ideology. Anyone who disagrees will be sidelined, pressured to conform, or coerced into leaving the education sector.

Steps are being taken within the education system to normalise disordered and dysfunctional relationships in the minds of children and in the minds of the general public.

It is not a coincidence that the last two ministers for children in Ireland have both been in very public homosexual relationships. The general public is being groomed into accepting disordered homosexual relationships as being normal and as being equal to heterosexual relationships even though this is not the case. Anyone who objects will be publicly shamed and called ‘homophobic’ or condemned with other equally false slurs.

The official response to the recent controversy concerning our newest minister for children and his tweeted support for a man who has made favourable comments regarding certain relationships between adults

and children, is the latest example of the use of mind control.

Anyone who objects to what the minister has tweeted in the past, or who seeks clarification of the minister’s previous actions is labelled as ‘homophobic’. This is the public shaming policy.

I have no problem stating publicly that I believe that Minister Roderic O’Gorman is not suitable to be the minister for children because he is in a public homosexual relationship with another man. This disordered relationship gives a bad example to children, and it gives children a false understanding of human sexuality by normalising disordered relationships in children’s minds.

That I will be called ‘homophobic’ as a consequence, bothers me only in so far as it deflects from the real problem, that, those who are promoting same-sex relationships to children as normal and healthy, are guilty of child abuse.

Minister O’Gorman, also falsely believes that you can change someone’s gender by issuing them with a government certificate. He believes that the government has the power, through these magic

14 MIND CONTROL certificates, to change boys into girls and girls into boys.

Many people are confused by the notion of gender. Gender is not a scientific biological term. Gender mainly applies to language. In sociology, gender is a made up social construct which is now used to falsely define human characteristics relating to sexuality. This is also a mind control technique which seeks to bring about acceptance of immoral and disordered sexual behaviours and to pave the way for indoctrinating children into accepting immoral behaviour as normal.

Human beings have a sex, they do not have a gender, and there are only two known sexes; male and female. That the current Minister for children is unaware of this is another factor which makes him completely unsuitable to be minister for children.

There is no objective scientific method which can be used to determine a person’s ‘sexual orientation’ or the fake gender which they may prefer to adopt.

This explains why our government, and the LGBT and other activists, have to resort to bullying in order to get the general public to accept their warped view of mankind.

Catholic Voice These LGBT ideologists have infiltrated deeply into the Catholic Church and have cheer-leaders amongst priests, bishops and cardinals.

These ideologists operate and have control of every government department in this country.

They can ruin anyone who speaks out against them by spreading lies and falsehoods or by picking out their faults and publicising them.

We do not live in a world of perfect people, far from it, but the totalitarians will use the faults of men to destroy anyone who publicly refuses to go along with the predetermined LGBT agenda. These ideologists do not believe in mercy, or repentance, or forgiveness, and they will use whatever they can to destroy any and all opposition to their plans to re-create Irish society in their own image and likeness.

Our teachers unions are promoting child abuse by pressuring their members to indoctrinate school children with false ideas about human sexuality. Our bishops to date, have not publicly condemned the LGBT ideology and the organisations which have infiltrated many of the Catholic schools of

31st July 2020 which they are patrons. They do not publicly condemn those priests who promote the LGBT ideology and call those priests to repentance.

Our doctors are being pressured to accept the false, totally unscientific, transgender ideology, which is damaging young children. Our doctors are also being pressured to dispense contraceptives and abortifacients, and to kill children up to twelve weeks of age, if that is what the child’s mother has decided she wants to do. I know a few doctors who have left the practice of general medicine in order to specialise in areas where they will not have to succumb to this culture of death. This unfortunately leaves Catholic parents with a shortage of Catholic doctors.

I also know a woman who recently gave birth in hospital. She was congratulated by the midwives on the birth of her baby but she found out from a student nurse that the midwives had been instructed that they are not to say ‘congratulations it’s a boy’ or ‘congratulations it’s a girl’ because that is to assign a gender to the child.

This is complete and utter insanity.

That the three political parties who now form our government, have false ideas about, and do not understand basic human sexuality, and that they seek to forcefully impose these erroneous and unscientific views on the nation’s children, makes them unsuitable for government.

But who will take these people out?

We now live in a communist totalitarian society, where those who hold these erroneous views control our media, control the internet, control the political parties, control the financial sector, control our education, control our legislature, and control what people can speak about in the public square.

We now have so-called nongovernmental agencies, such as ‘Belong-To’, which are actually funded by government, and most of whom receive additional funding from the world’s globalists, so long as they support the radical new agenda, who are training our teachers and devising the programmes which are to be used to indoctrinate our school children.

Some of these groups disparage the right of parents to educate their children as they see fit.

Recently, Peter Tatchell, who has spoken favourably of child adult relationships in the past, was interviewed on Classic FM. When it was pointed out to him that many parents might object to their children being indoctrinated with the LGBT ideology, he said that ‘Children are not the property of their parents’.

Of course what Peter Tatchell said is true, children are not the property of their parents, but he

deduces a false corollary from this by implying that therefore, parents do not have the right to determine how their children are brought up and to determine what is taught to their children. Tatchell implies that children are the property of the state, a communist idea, whereas the truth is that children are not property, they are unique human beings, created in the image and likeness of God, entrusted to the care and authority of their parents, whose authority no-one has the right to usurp.

Where parents fail in exercising their rightful authority, it may become necessary for the state to intervene to supply that which is missing, but this does not negate the inalienable authority of parents over their children.

We must realise that this indoctrination did not start with the toleration of awarding high ministerial office to people in active homosexual relationships.

To illustrate how far we have travelled down this destructive path, let me remind you that you can be fined up to €2,500 with up to six months in prison for not wearing a face-mask on public transport, but you can kill a child up to twelve weeks after conception without any penalty or sanction.

The life of a child is now worth less than the cost of a disposable facemask in this society of ours which pays doctors to kill children, and which has embraced an insanity that it seeks to impose on our children.

The Seven Sorrows of Our Lady The First Sorrow The Prophecy of Simeon

her know, and it causes her deep sorrow.

“And Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary his mother: Behold this child is set for the fall, and for the resurrection of many in Israel, and for a sign which shall be contradicted; And thy own soul a sword shall pierce, that, out of many hearts, thoughts may be revealed.”

(Luke 2: 34 – 35)

Jesus is teaching Mary the painful lesson of letting Him go. She must know that His Father’s business takes precedence over everything else. The three days are also a preparation of her soul for the three days of His passion, death and entombment before the resurrection.

Consider this joyful day when Our Lady and St Joseph take the child Jesus to Jerusalem for His presentation in the temple. The prophet Simeon is sent by God to forewarn and to prepare our Lady for what is to come.

Hail Mary ...

Thus it is for all followers of Christ.

Our hearts will be pierced by many sorrows. The death of our parents and those we love, our children may lose the faith, we will be rejected by the world for our belief in Jesus Christ.

Yet Mary has gone before us, to lead us, to comfort us and to console us.

Let us draw near to her, our Mother, as she contemplates the words of Simeon in her heart.

The Second Sorrow The Flight into Egypt Mary takes the child Jesus and with St Joseph leaves Bethlehem for Egypt. Herod has given orders that her only child be killed. Other innocent children will die on account of this. This killing of innocent children continues to this very day with millions of innocent children, created in the image and likeness of God, being killed through abortion, through war, and through hunger. Many other children, willed by God, will not come into existence on account of contraception.

Already the prophecy of Simeon is coming true, “behold this child is set for the fall and for the resurrection of many in Israel... and thy own

The Third Sorrow The Loss of The Boy Jesus in Jerusalem “His mother said to him, “Son, why hast thou done so to us? Behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing.” And he said to them, “How is it that you sought me? Did you not know that I must be about my Father’s business?” And they understood not the word that He spoke unto them.” (Luke 2:48-50) Consider the sorrow of Our Lady on discovering that Jesus is not with St Joseph or with any of their relations on the journey back from Jerusalem. She knows who Jesus is, therefore her question to Jesus is not an admonition. She does not understand why He would leave her for three days without letting

Our Lady’s sorrow is increased when she sees that her own suffering causes her Son to suffer more. Yet both of them are freely resigned to the Father’s Will so that we may be freed from our sins and from the clutches of satan.

Afterwards, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, said: I thirst. Now there was a vessel set there full of vinegar. And they, putting a sponge full of vinegar and hyssop, put it to his mouth. Jesus therefore, when he had taken the vinegar, said: It is consummated.

And bowing his head, he gave up the ghost.”

(John 19: 25-30) Our Lady stands by the cross of Jesus for the three hours of His agony. We can only imagine the sorrow of her heart at seeing her only Son treated so cruelly by those whom He dies for. “Father, forgive them...”

The Sixth Sorrow of Our Lady Mary Receives The dead body of Jesus Mary holds the now dead body of Jesus in her arms. As she looks upon His bruised and wounded body, does her mind drift back to that night in Bethlehem when she first wrapped Him in swaddling clothes? Does she ponder in her heart her life with Jesus here on earth?

Yes. Jesus is dead! He died for our sins and for the sins of all humanity.

Let us contemplate this Holy Virgin who has given her all to Jesus and who has willingly accepted to unite herself in suffering with her Son so that we might be saved.

Let us approach her in humility and contrition of heart with deep sorrow for our own sins and for the sufferings we have caused to Jesus and Mary on account of those very sins. Let us reach deep into that sorrow and draw from it the resolve to turn away from our sins so that we may no longer offend God and His blessed Mother. Our Lady desires this of us and she is waiting to help us to become Holy.

A Rare Victory For The Pro-Life Cause Christopher Monckton of Brenchley

The family – Mom, Pop and the kids – is the building-block of society. The State exists to serve the family, and the family exists to serve its individual members.

Yet those who glorify the State at the expense of the individual will always try to weaken or destroy the family, for then the individual has no line of defence between him and the State.

It is no surprise, then, that the totalitarian hard Left, now dominant in government, in the civil service, in the news media and sadly even in some places in the Church, has been attacking the family on every hand – promoting homosexuality, homosexual “marriage”, transgenderism, divorce, hyperfeminism and, above all, the massacre of the innocents that is abortion.

Among the numerous institutions captured by the totalitarians is the United Nations. This manytentacled monster has long since outlived whatever usefulness it had, and Dag Hammerskjøld, its well-meaning founder, would not recognise it today.

One of the UN’s slimy, writhing tentacles is the United Nations Commission on Population and Development. During the lockdown, extremists at the 53rd session of this creepy body attempted to catch the pro-family, pro-life, prohumanity movement napping by holding virtual sessions during which persistent and determined efforts were made to push abortion worldwide.

On May 29, the Bureau of Chairs (not a furniture shop but the sinister, unelected cabal that runs the UN) circulated a secret and

That document, at paragraph 15, demanded universal, worldwide access to abortion, which UN documents describe as a “reproductive right”, and which the UN Population Fund has for decades been trying to insert into the UN Human Rights declaration as though it were a human right.

At present, that Declaration says that everyone has the right to life, but that provision remains under continuous threat.

Another UN tactic, designed to transmogrify this useless nest of communist vipers into a global unelected government with real legislative and tax-raising powers, is to include provisions in all UN negotiating texts transferring sovereignty from individual member states to the UN itself on topic after topic, just as the EU did.

The draft negotiating text on abortion contained such provisions, which, if carried, would have had the effect of obliging member states to cede sovereignty to the UN. Prolife campaigners have described the insertion of these provisions as “unprecedented”: however, they are now commonplace. In 2009, for instance the draft Copenhagen climate treaty proposed the establishment of an unelected global government (the word “government” actually appeared in the draft), with enormous legislative, executive and even fiscal powers.

I exposed that document very publicly, in a short video that was viewed by 5 million people within a week. The negotiations at Copenhagen duly collapsed and the UN did not get its world government. Now it is using the EU’s salami-slice tactic – a little bit of sovereignty transferred here, a little bit there, and suddenly, before anyone has quite noticed, a global

dictatorship is in being and, worse, in power.

Well, the UN failed again. A prolife campaign group, CitizenGo, found out about the secret plan for world domination and centrallyenforced abortion and whipped up a petition among its supporters. Some 526,000 people signed the petition, and each time they signed an email was sent to the Bureau of Furniture.

Originally, the negotiations were scheduled to last for just three days.

In the end, though, the haggling went on for a whole month, almost entirely in secret, for the UN does very little in public. Repeated drafts were written and rewritten, but in all of the drafts the insistence on giving the UN the power to force abortion upon every nation worldwide was present.

Fortunately, several nations heard the pleas of the unborn and rejected the final draft. The Bureau of Ottomans and Recliners had to set up one-on-one talks, known in the gab-trade as “bilateral negotiations”, with individual nations.

However, the nations who had rejected the final draft stood their ground. They refused to accept any form of declaration that contained the unacceptable abortion provisions. They vetoed the document.

In the end, the Bureau of Fauteuils and Stools withdrew the declaration.

CitizenGo are justifiably proud of their achievement in having lobbied successfully so that a small but determined handful of countries still willing to put the family before the State and life before death resisted the powerful blandishments and, no doubt, offers of bribes from the Bureau of Deckchairs.

As the Irish statesman John Philpot Curran wrote: “The condition upon which God hath given liberty to man is eternal vigilance.” Even in the enforced hibernation and house arrest that is lock-down, the Church cannot afford to blink.

As the ancient warning still recited daily at Compline puts it, Fratres, sobrii estote et vigilate, quia adversaries vester diabolus, tamquam leo rugiens, circuit quaerens quem devoret: cui resistite fortes in fide.

Or, in the fine words of the Bible, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist, steadfast in the faith.”

We have won this battle, but we have not yet won the war. It is not the end, nor even the beginning of the end, but perhaps it is the end of the beginning.

Mary Kearns There are some Christians who do not like to look at the cross of Christ especially when his figure is depicted. These people say that it is inappropriate to glorify an image of violence and death. If someone you love was shot with a gun you would not honour a picture of a gun. Jesus died an anguished death by crucifixion and that is a cause for great sorrow. However it is over now and Jesus is in heaven sitting at the Father’s right hand, and this is how we should glorify him.

We are people who have been redeemed and who now share in the glory of the resurrection.

Nevertheless, we can never forget the means of our redemption which was at the cost of the death of Jesus.

If at times it is hard to believe that we poor, selfish and mistaken human beings can actually be a cause of offence to God Almighty,

the cross will remind us. Of course the word “offend” is inadequate to describe the suffering of Jesus who physically, emotionally and mentally took our sins on himself and delivered us from them. That is why for Catholics, the cross must depict the figure of the suffering Christ.

That is not the way Catholics understand the cross. However, this sacred object is so familiar to us that perhaps we should look more deeply into its meaning. Why does the cross have a central place in the Mass? Is the cross a devotional item like a statue or a holy picture?

Is it necessary that a crucifix be part of what is required for the celebration of Mass and if so, what is its particular importance?

Traditionally the cross was positioned on the east wall where the attention of both priest and congregation was centred during Mass. In The Feast of Faith the then Cardinal Ratzinger explains how the image of Christ crucified was fused with turning towards the east from whence Christ would return.

Because the story does not end with the cross but with the triumphant Resurrection and Ascension of Jesus into heaven, the cross is the sign that concentrates the whole Christian understanding of time in the paschal mystery. This is not our concept of time but God’s time, or cosmic time.

In turning towards the cross, we are oriented in our deepest identity.

Some churches have beautifully ornate crucifixes, some have plain wooden crosses, some show a white-robed risen figure, and some represent an abstract crucified Lord.

In other places a contortion of black metal merges with the Christ figure in a manner reminiscent of some Hallow‘Een horror. Some churches have only a processional cross which is carried into the sanctuary by an altar server at the beginning of Mass. By its nature this cross is not large enough to provide everyone in the congregation with the opportunity to see the figure of Christ. The fact that the processional cross is carried out at the end of Mass also mitigates against its intrinsic meaning for the celebration of the liturgy.

The position of the crucifix in the church also varies enormously from the back wall of the sanctuary, to its being suspended from the roof or in fact located almost anywhere.

Some older churches still have a large crucifix over the pulpit which means it is prominently displayed even when the pulpit is no longer used during the liturgy. And some churches do not have a crucifix at all. These inconsistencies give rise to some questions.

Nevertheless, the right orientation may still be achieved by placing the crucifix in the centre of the altar. It then becomes the point of reference for priest and congregation.

Positioning the crucifix between the priest and the people has the effect of substituting for the “turning towards the east” that had been traditionally the practice of the Church. Cardinal Ratzinger, later Pope Benedict XVI explains: In this way we obey the ancient call to prayer: “Conversi ad Dominum” In this way we look together at the One whose death tore the veil of the Temple - the One who stands before

the Father for us and encloses us in his arms in order to make us the new and living Temple.

The cross in the centre of the altar should be a cross of the passion depicting the suffering Christ. It was for the whole human race that Christ allowed the piercing of his side from whence flowed the sacraments of the Church. It is by means of his passion, death and resurrection (the paschal mystery) that the gates of Heaven became open for all mankind. This is the paschal mystery we celebrate at Mass so it is fitting that all eyes should gravitate towards the crucifix.

The crucifix has to be understood even more than ever today when there are certain elements operating in the Church causing some people to act as though the Eucharist is nothing more than a community meal. When exposed to these false notions we should be confident in reiterating the Church’s teaching.

We believe that the sacrificial nature of the Mass, solemnly asserted by the Council of Trent in accordance with the Church’s universal tradition, was reaffirmed by the Second Vatican Council.

The altar is the focal point of the Eucharist but if the crucifix is not to be seen a certain danger exists.

THE HOLY CROSS 21 When priest and people face each other as if in dialogue, the effect is that there is an over-emphasis on the communal character of the liturgy.

Instead of priest and people looking outwards and upwards towards the Father to whom the Eucharistic Prayer is addressed, they become as it were, enclosed in their own circle and are not open to the “explosive trinitarian dynamism which gives the Eucharist its greatness.” From this we can deduce that the crucifix symbolises directly the whole meaning of the Mass. Representing Jesus, it allows us contemplate the whole mystery of Redemption, from the Incarnation in the womb of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and the Nativity in Bethlehem to Christ’s redeeming death on the cross.

While we attend to the Liturgy of the Word where God speaks to us, we are preparing for the reality of the sacrifice of the Mass where the “unbloody immolation” will soon take place.

When there is no obvious point of reference, the community has to look to itself - indeed in many cases this is how the people are directed.

We could say therefore that they become disoriented.

Islamic Event at Croke Park Anne Keeling

On Monday the 13th of July, the news broke that the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) had given permission for Dublin’s Croke Park – the historic and revered arena of Gaelic games – to be the venue for a socially-distanced Islamic ‘Eid Al Adha’ prayer celebration.

Apparently, there, people may choose a lamb, for example, and may go to the abattoir to view the slaughter or even participate in it, “if they are qualified”. By “qualified” I assume he meant having training in halal slaughter methods.

Five hundred are to be in attendance, including politicians. The Church of Ireland Archbishop Michael Jackson is expected. Archbishop Diarmuid Martin has been invited along with Chief Rabbi Mr Zalman Lent.

However, here, “we have to obey the law because it is the law of the country and you obey it”. And so, here, the slaughter of the lamb is carried out in, for example, Kildare Meats, or another halal abattoir and then the meat distributed to the butcher as usual.

For many Irish people the staging of an Islamic religious event at Croke Park would be incongruous to say the least. It has been a much cherished part of Irish identity and culture since 1913. Moreover, November 21st this year marks the hundredth anniversary of the Bloody Sunday massacre, when 14 civilians were shot dead at a Gaelic football match in the stadium during the War of Independence.

For those who might be able to overlook these painful historic sensitivities the question still remained about the nature of the ‘Eid Al Adha’ event itself. It is held to commemorate the willingness of Ibrahim to sacrifice his son Ishmael to Allah (mentioned in the Qur’an) and is associated with the sacrifice of animals.

Thus concern arose that this would be happening in Croke Park itself. A spokesman at the Islamic Foundation of Ireland was swift to deny any such public sacrifice would be taking place.

“You shouldn’t even have asked that question in the first place because we would never do anything like it.”

The gentleman I spoke to was South African. His initial impatience softened as he went on. He said in his country they do the slaughter/ sacrifice “like it is done here, in the abattoirs.”

It is my understanding that in a Muslim-majority country the ‘Eid Al Adha’ festival would often involve the public slaughter of animals and a great amount of animals would be slaughtered on the day of ‘Eid’. Some of the meat is given to the poor and needy.

The important thing, apart from the sacrifice, is the ‘Eid’ prayer service, consisting of a homily (about twenty five minutes long) and five minutes of prayers. Part of these prayers includes the chanting of the ‘takbir’ out loud.

From what I could gather, the IFI spokesman was keen to distance himself and his mosque from the Croke Park event. He told me the organiser was Dr Umar Al-Qadri and that he didn’t know anything about it. (Dr Umar Al-Qadri heads up the Irish Muslim Peace and Integration Council.)

“And I definitely won’t be attending anyway I can tell you that,” he said.

I said that the event would get a lot of attention.

“It will get a lot of attention and that’s why maybe we want to keep out of it I suppose.”

They will also be holding their own ‘Eid Al Adha’ prayers, possibly in a small park hired for the occasion.

It seems relatively common for Muslims, in the UK for example, to hold ‘Eid Al Adha’ prayers/ celebrations in places like parks.

Dr Al-Qadri confirmed this.

“Absolutely,” he said, “in parks.

It’s very common, very normal in the UK in fact. For example, in Edinburgh city they had Eid in the park, in a large park. But, however, this time what is different is that Irish Muslims are going to be able to perform Eid in one of the most iconic and symbolic venues in Dublin, which is Croke Park, with its rich Irish history and I think that’s something we are really thankful for and we are very proud of.”

He went on to say: “I think it is very befitting for us in Ireland because Ireland is a country of céad míle fáilte (a hundred thousand welcomes) and it truly has, I think the GAA has demonstrated that, and we, Irish Muslims, we are proud of our Muslim identity but also proud of our Irish relation and now many of us are Irish either by birth or Irish citizenship. We’re proud of our dual identity and for us to be able to perform Eid prayer in Croke Park.”

Dr Al-Qadri says there is one thing he wants to make clear and that is that they are not trying to send out any statement except one and that is: “We are proudly Irish and proudly Muslim and we love diversity and this is the way forward and that is why we have invited the Archbishop, the Rabbi, because we believe in diversity.”

and “cousins”. He expressed sadness at the “atmosphere of antiCatholicism” in Ireland, pointing to the many “amazing things” that have been done by the Church.

Admitting his own problems with aspects of the Muslim community he acknowledged that while God and his “messengers” may be perfect his followers are not and “the way forward for us is to work together particularly the Abrahamic faiths.”

As we go to press the plans for the event at Croke Park are now in jeopardy because of the newly extended restrictions to public gatherings put in place by the Government. But Dr AlQadri has appealed in a letter to the Taoiseach Micheál Martin to grant an exemption for the occasion. It remains to be seen if the Government will provide more proof of its commitment to diversity and relax control for the Muslim community.

Going For An Abortion, She Missed The Bus Then Her Baby Was Saved When she finally arrived at the facility, a pro-life woman was there, standing outside. Then everything changed.

Betty (not her real name) refers to the moment she found out she was pregnant as “the worst.” She felt “hopeless and helpless” and completely alone. Without a home or a stable income, she felt her only choice was abortion, and made an appointment at a Marie Stopes abortion facility in the UK. Unable to work because of extreme morning sickness, she was living in a room in an apartment. Her boyfriend didn’t have a stable job.

Betty decided the best thing to do was to have an abortion so things could “go back to normal” and eventually she’d return to work.

Abortion wasn’t what she wanted, but she felt as though it was what she had to do because of her situation.

“I went to my GP and I told him ‘I’m pregnant and I want to have an abortion,’” she said in an essay for the group Be Here for Me. “He

referred me to a clinic which they call Marie Stopes clinic in Ealing. I was 11 weeks pregnant.”

When she arrived at the facility, a pro-life woman named Lorraine was there, standing outside. From the moment Betty met Lorraine, everything changed.

“For me, it was definitely down to God that I missed a bus and was late because I may not have met Lorraine otherwise,” she explained.

“I was looking really quite haggard at this point because I was throwing up so much. Lorraine smiled and gave me a big hug when I went over and I thought, ‘Ah, this person knows what I’m going through.’”

Betty told Lorraine about her concerns — her housing being number one. Lorraine immediately called The Good Counsel Network to inquire about a safe place for Betty to live. The pro-life organisation helps women with pregnancy testing, moral support, medical information, legal advice, and practical assistance so that they can more readily choose life. This made Betty rethink her abortion, but she still went into the abortion business, which she said was “full of women.”

When her name was called to go back for the abortion, Betty couldn’t go through with it. Although the abortion worker was angry with her, she refused to be bullied into an abortion.

“So I went outside and spoke to Lorraine again,” she said. “She gave me another hug and told me ‘Congratulations!’ She called my boyfriend and told him the news and said that on Monday I would have a home! I couldn’t believe it!”

Betty and her boyfriend welcomed their son Isaiah, who has a safe place to live thanks to Lorraine and The Good Counsel Network, which also helped Betty apply for a visa to stay in the UK. “If somebody was not there to see me I could have gone through with the abortion,” explained Betty.

“Because I’d have gone into the clinic and there wouldn’t have been anyone there with another option.

Look at the child. Sometimes I don’t want to talk about it in front of him if I think about it. If I [didn’t] find somebody that time I could have done it.”

Pro-life counselling is a necessity outside of abortion businesses because abortion workers are not trained to give pro-life options to women. They are trained to sell abortions. With over 70% of postabortive women stating they felt coerced to abort, ensuring that women have all of the facts and information before they choose to abort is vital to saving their babies’ lives and their own health as well.

Polish President Entrusts Poland To Our Lady At Marian Shrine After Re-Election, Prays Evening Prayer Patrick Hayes

Some good news from Poland!

Polish President Andrzej Duda visited the Jasna Góra Monastery in Częstochowa, Poland after winning the his second presidential term on July 13. The monastery contains a shrine and a miraculous image of Our Lady of Częstochowa.

The president participated in Evening Prayer and dedicated Poland to Our Lady.

The shrine posted a photo and quote from President Duda: “That the Holy Mother would always look after our Homeland!

I sit here as a pilgrim, it is a holy and important place for me, here I feel spiritual support. I want to thank you here and ask for further protection for Poland and for me,” the president told reporters.

Częstochowa Auxiliary Bishop Andrzej Przybylski also commented on the president’s re-election and shrine visit. “God bless our beloved homeland, Poland, all Poles. Bless the president of the most glorious Republic in this new stage of The monastery posted another his national service,” Bishop tweet, explaining that President Przybylski said.

Duda entrusts Poland to Our Lady.

Denial And The Roots Of Violence Sister Anne Marie Walsh SOLT

One of the most distressing realities in the world today is the prevalence of violence. News stories ranging from reports of local crimes to the atrocities of the drug lords to the tortures and executions among rebels and fanatics and dictatorial regimes in various parts of the world seem more and more extreme and almost unbelievable. The destruction of the unborn, perhaps the worst example of all, no longer even gets attention in the average mind. Where does this unbridled, ever-increasing aggression come from? The Word of God gives us some clues.

Jesus points to the heart, as do St. James, and St. Paul. “...out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, fornication, theft, false witness, slander.” (cf. Mt 15:1820; also Mk 7:20-23). “What leads to war, what leads to quarrelling among you? Is it not precisely the desires fighting inside your selves?” (Jm 4: 1). “... you once nourished hostility in your hearts because of your evil deeds.” (Col 1:21).

Whenever we sin we contract something of the contagion of the evil one. His primary disease is pride-induced rage against God. It spills over into a crazed hatred for everything that has its source in God, human beings in particular, and types him as a liar and “a murderer from the beginning.”

This kind of spirit can begin to contaminate, little by little, anyone of us.

How is it we become infected by this contagion? We are already born handicapped by the consequences of the sin of our first parents. Our own personal sin further weakens our spiritual immunities and compromises our spiritual health so that without regular infusions of grace from the

Mass, sacraments, God’s Word and prayer, opportunistic temptations begin to gain strength until at some particular moment our defences are breached and we no longer have the strength to repulse the enemy.

Yet, there is a difference in what happens to a person who has never known the Lord, and one who has known The Lord intimately but then falls through continual carelessness or selfishness or the seduction of some idolatry.

It becomes especially frightening when an entire people who have once known the Lord, forsake Him for these reasons. For they become then capable of every evil imaginable, and worse yet, seeing and calling it good. Bishop Fulton Sheen noted that sin is not the greatest evil in the world, but rather the denial of sin is. It is what put Jesus on the Cross. Can there be a greater act of violence than the murder of God Himself, one which was justified by the religious leaders of the time as good for the nation?

The Prophet Isaiah, whom Jesus quotes, describes this condition: Gross is the heart of this people, they will hardly hear with their ears, they have closed their eyes, lest they see with their eyes and hear with their ears and understand with their hearts and be converted and I heal them.

In the medical world the modern mind would understand this as a state of denial. In the spiritual life it’s just as deadly as the state of one who denies symptoms of cancer or heart disease. Yet anyone who knows the workings of denial knows that a challenge to it can provoke vehement reaction.

When denial is firmly entrenched,

one can no longer speak the truth directly. The person in denial cannot choose to see it or hear it.

Persons in denial are unable to receive the truth in any unfiltered form. They become insensitive, and even, as Josef Pieper notes, “unable to search for truth because they become satisfied with a fictitious reality which has been created through the abuse of language.” So Jesus often does not speak directly to the people. He uses another tactic. He speaks in parables. He intrigues. He touches the desire in man to solve mystery, to know secrets.

He acknowledges at the same time that those (his own disciples) who can know the truth directly are blessed. Sin has not deadened their sensitivities nor made them skeptics, unrepented sin, that is.

For there is perhaps no one more sensitive to grace, more grateful, more humbly dependent on God’s mercy and receptive to His communications of truth and love than the repentant sinner.

But one steeped in sin, and more importantly, attached to it, becomes insensible to even the most spectacular graces, skeptical of God’s miraculous power, which though without limit, never trespasses man’s free will. Truth and grace must be chosen. Speaking truth directly without this can be dangerous, just as it was when Jesus spoke clearly in the synagogue and His own people, in response, attempted to throw Him off a cliff.

Denial is a tenacious animal. It can be vicious in protecting its territory.

This explains the unreasonable anger that a believer can encounter in an unbeliever. It’s difficult to hold a genuine conversation when hostility surfaces quickly, as though truth itself is the trigger for visceral rejection and rebellion.

approach someone with water, even life-giving waters if they’ve been infected by the spiritual variant of rabies.

This is another reason why Jesus was “not able” to perform many miracles in certain places, because of the lack of faith, of belief. Not because He couldn’t but because He wouldn’t impose Himself, or force Himself on an unbelieving lot, a people in denial.

This makes the man who prayed: “Lord I believe, help my unbelief,” remarkable for his recognition of his own state and remarkable for his humility in asking for the right remedy. May we have his same courage to break free from the fetters of denial in our own lives, for the sake of our own healing, and our healing as a people whom God has chosen to be His own.

Parenting Roadshow - Back On The Road Just before the Covid-19 lock-down we were touring Ireland with a presentation alerting parents to the dangers posed to their children by the promotion of the LGBT agenda in schools. The presentation consists of three basic parts.

• Part One: shows how the LGBT ideologists have infiltrated many global organisations, including some dicasteries in the Vatican.

• Part Two: shows examples, including videos, of the types of programmes that are being developed in accordance with the World Hearth Organisation Sex Education Guidelines. Many parents will be shocked by this part of the presentation which gives examples from around the world and also includes a section with some examples of what is happening in Ireland.

• Part Three: looks at the role of Catholic Parents and outlines the duties and responsibilities of Catholic parents with suggestions as to how to strengthen your Faith life in order to be able to meet the challenges of rearing children in 2020s Ireland.

We are happy to host this presentation in small groups of from six to twenty parents, either in peoples homes or in other small venues.

Given the formation of the new government and the worrying choices of Ministers in the Departments of Children and Education, and with a very strong LGBT emphasis in the new programme for government - it is vital that we get this message out to as many parents as possible to encourage and to give hope to Catholic parents.

Not Peace But The Sword Monsignor Charles Pope

In words that are nothing less than shocking, the Lord says in the Gospel: “Do not think that I came to send peace upon earth: I came not to send peace, but the sword.” (Matthew 10:34)

healthy flesh from that which is diseased. Coexistence is not possible; the diseased flesh must be removed.

The moment one talks of “coexisting” with cancer, the disease wins. Were a doctor to take this stance he would be guilty of malpractice. When there is cancer, the battle must be engaged.

“Do you think that I have come to establish peace on the earth? No, I tell you, but rather division. From now on a household of five will be divided, three against two and two against three; a father will be divided against his son and a son against his father, a mother against her daughter and a daughter against her mother, a mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.” (Luke 12:51-53)

Thus, in this great and cosmic battle, the Lord cannot and will not tolerate a false peace based on compromise or an accepting coexistence. He has come to wield a sword, to divide. Many moderns do not like it, but Scripture is clear: there are wheat and tares, sheep and goats, those on the Lord’s right and those on His left, the just and wicked, the lowly and the proud, the narrow road to salvation and the wide road to damnation.

The words shock, but they speak a truth that sets aside worldly notions of compromise and coexistence with evil. In order for there to be true peace, holiness, and victory over Satan, there must be distinction not equivocation, clarity not compromise. Fire and water do not mix; you can hear the conflict when they come together: hissing, popping, searing, and steaming.

One must win; the other must lose. Compromise and coexistence are not possible.

These distinctions, these divisions, extend into our very families, into our most intimate relationships.

This is the battle. There are two armies, two camps.

No third way is given. Jesus says, Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters (Matt 12:30).

In this there is a kind of analogy to a surgeon’s scalpel.

The surgeon must wield this “sword” to separate out

While it is common that honour for one’s parents and family love are in conformity with God’s will, nothing and absolutely no one can or should take precedence over the Lord. His reign is absolute in our lives. Further commentary will tend only to obscure, so I stop here.

Global Catholic Appeal

To Pope Francis and the Worlds Bishops Consecrate Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary Establish As A Universal Practice of the Catholic Church

The Five First Saturday Devotion Of Reparation On October 13th, 2020

The purpose of this Global appeal is to gather the signatures of Catholics from all over the World who wish to unite in the appeal to Pope Francis and to the World’s Catholic Bishops asking them to specifically consecrate Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, as she herself requested. The consecration must be specifically for Russia and must mention Russia by name.

These signatures will be presented to Pope Francis on the 7th October, 2020, with copies of the signatures from each diocese being sent to the relevant Diocesan Bishop asking for the consecration of Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, to take place on October 13th, 2020, the 103rd anniversary of the Miracle of Fatima.

The appeal will also ask for the formal establishment, as a Universal Practice of the Catholic Church, The Five First Saturday Devotion of Reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

It is hoped to collect the signatures on a country by country basis, or a State by State basis where this is more appropriate. Each country/state will have a central co-ordinator but all Catholic organisations will be encouraged to take part so that the appeal will have as broad a reach as possible and in an effort to avoid any partisanship.

The official launch of the appeal will take place on Friday 19th June, 2020, the feast of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus and will close on Tuesday 15th September, the feast of Our Lady of Sorrows to allow time to sort and co-ordinate the signatures on a Diocese by Diocese basis.

REFLECTIONS ON THE ABORTION ISSUE IN IRELAND:

“There is in every man and woman a belief below the level of consciousness that some things are inherently right or wrong. It is a natural moral sense that transcends borders and cultures. One such universal belief is that human life is precious and consequently human killing can never be countenanced. The deliberate killing of a human being is considered the ultimate crime. The most fundamental of all human rights is the right to life.

No person, no law, and no government can extinguish that right. Remove that right and all other human rights become meaningless.

However, many countries, including Ireland, have removed that right from the Constitution and given the legislature the power to legalise abortion, which by definition is the intentional killing of the unborn child. The assumption is that unborn babies have no human rights. The essays in this monograph expose the fallacy that unborn babies do not have the right to life and may be ‘terminated’ if that is the ‘choice’ of the mother. In the New Ireland, human killing is now legal. It is estimated that 800 – 900 unwanted unborn babies are ‘terminated’ every month. Abortion has become the murder machine of our time.”

Prayer to St Michael the Archangel O Glorious Archangel St. Michael, Prince of the heavenly host, be our defense in the terrible warfare which we carry on against principalities and powers, against the rulers of this world of darkness, and spirits of evil.

Come to the aid of man, whom God created immortal, made in His own image and likeness, and redeemed at a great price from the tyranny of the devil.

Fight this day the battle of the Lord, together with the holy angels, as already thou hast fought the leader of the proud angels, Lucifer, and his apostate host, who were powerless to resist Thee, nor was there place for them any longer in heaven. That cruel, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil or Satan, who seduces the whole world, was cast into the abyss with his angels.

Behold, this primeval enemy and slayer of men has taken courage. Transformed into an angel of light, he wanders about with all the multitude of wicked spirits, invading the earth in order to blot out the name of God and of His Christ, to seize upon, slay and cast into eternal perdition souls destined for the crown of eternal glory.

This wicked dragon pours out, as a most impure flood, the venom of his malice on men; his depraved mind, corrupt heart, his spirit of lying, impiety, blasphemy, his pestilential breath of impurity and of every vice and iniquity.

These most crafty enemies have filled and inebriated with gall and bitterness the Church, the Spouse of the Immaculate Lamb, and have laid impious hands on her most sacred possessions.

In the Holy Place itself, where has been set up the See of the most holy Peter and the Chair of Truth for the light of the world, they have raised the throne of their abominable impiety, with the iniquitous design that when the Pastor has been struck, the sheep may be scattered.

Arise then, O invincible Prince, bring help against the attacks of the lost spirits to the people of God, and give them the victory.

They venerate Thee as their protector and patron; in Thee Holy Church glories as her defense against the malicious power of hell; to Thee has God entrusted the souls of men to be established in heavenly beatitude.

Oh, pray to the God of peace that He may put Satan under our feet, so far conquered that he may no longer be able to hold men in captivity and harm the Church.

Offer our prayers in the sight of the Most High, so that they may quickly conciliate the mercies of the Lord; and beating down the dragon, the ancient serpent who is the devil and Satan, do Thou again make him captive in the abyss, that he may no longer seduce the nations. Amen.

V. Behold the Cross of the Lord; be scattered, hostile powers.

R. The Lion of the tribe of Judah has conquered, the root of David.

V. Let Thy mercies be upon us, O Lord R. As we have hoped in Thee.

V. O Lord, hear my prayer.

R. And let my cry come unto Thee LET US PRAY God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, we call upon Thy holy name, and we humbly implore Thy clemency, that by the intercession of Mary, ever Virgin Immaculate and our Mother, and of the glorious Archangel St. Michael, Thou wouldst deign to help us against Satan and all other unclean spirits, who wander about the world for the injury of the human race and the ruin of souls.

Amen.
