On the 29th June, the Church celebrates the feast of two of her greatest heroes. The Holy Apostles Peter and Paul. Saint Peter, whose name means “rock” was chosen by the Christ to be the rock upon which He build His Church. St. Paul, the indefatigable Apostle of the Gentiles, the great missionary who traversed the length in breath of the Roman world to preach the name of Christ to win souls for the kingdom of God. After tirelessly preaching the Gospel for many years, both Peter and Paul gave the ultimate testimony of Faith in shedding their blood for Christ on this day approximately 35 years after the Ascension.

Here in Ireland in the year 2020, 29th June was also the first day since the Coronavirus lockdown in March that we could publicly worship God in the Mass. Whatever a person may think of the origin and spread of this virus and whatever opinions we may have concerning the government’s response, and the response of our superiors in the Church, there is one thing that is quite clear. In the Gospel, the Church’s mission is the salvation of souls. (cf Mt. 28:19-20) The Church is an essential service she should never have been shut down. It is no coincidence that we celebrated the first public Mass on the feast of these great apostles, for there are no coincidences with God. We can be sure that Saint Peter and Paul have been praying for us so that we can once again partake in

the Sacred ministries the most Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.

At this time many people are still nervous, disquieted, and even afraid.

Some are afraid of the virus. Some are afraid of what is happening in the world. Some are afraid of what

comes next. Pope Saint John Paul II of happy memory used to tell us “be not afraid.” (Jn 6:20) The Lord in the Gospel tells us “fear not them that kill the body, and are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him that can destroy both soul and body in hell.” (Mt. 10:28) We must not

be afraid of sickness or even death.

We must not be afraid of financial woes. We must not be solicitous, Our Lord tells us during the Sermon on the Mount, of what we should eat or drink or what we should wear. “Seek ye first the kingdom of God…and all these things will be added onto you.” (Mt. 6:33). If we must seek to save our souls, and to help save the souls of our family friends and neighbours, then we need not fear. As Saint Paul tells us : “If God be for us, who is against us?” (Rom 8:23).

At this time of confusion and difficulty, at this time when so many of us feel let down or abandoned by those who should be looking after our souls. We must remember that Our Lord did not choose the most perfect and holiest person he could find to be the leader of His Church.

There is only one person who fits that description, and He chose her to be His Mother, and the Mother of His Mystical Body, the Church.

The government and leadership of the Church, however, He entrusted to weak and sinful men. Men such as Simon Peter, who denied Him three times, and Saul of Tarsus, the persecutor. As it was in those days so, it has been throughout the 2000 years of the Church’s history. The amazing fact about the Church is not that prosecutors have failed to destroy her. The amazing fact is that the weaknesses and failings, to say nothing of the real sins and treacheries of Christians inside the Church has not destroyed her. The Church is not a human institution.

The Church is the mystical body of Christ, and we have Christ’s promise that He will be with her all days until the end of time. (idem)

At the feet of St Peter in Rome So be not afraid! The gates of hell will not, indeed, cannot prevail against the Church.

Saint Peter and Paul understood this since they understood the mission of the Church, the mission of saving souls. Saints Peter and Paul spent all their energy and time from the day of their conversion until the day of their death seeking souls for Christ, fishing men for Christ.

And 29th day of June, 68 AD the Lord called them home. So Peter was crucified upside down at his own request, according to tradition, because he did not consider himself worthy to suffer the same way as the Lord. St. Peter’s symbol, therefore, is the upside down cross. He is also frequently shown holding the “keys of the Kingdom of Heaven” in his hand. Sometimes, he is also shown with a cock, in remembrance of the cock which crowed to awaken in his breast the sentiments of true contrition. On the same day, Saint Paul fought the last good fight and finished his course as he bared his neck to the executioners sword.

Thus, his symbol is the sword. He is also often shown with a book of Epistles, as his is the author of most of the epistles in the New Testament.

May we follow the example of these holy apostles. Like them, may we be faithful to our vocation as Christians, to our duty as Christians to profess the faith, to profess the faith openly to win souls for Christ.

DEADLIER THAN THE CORONAVIRUS Mary Kearns In Matthew’s Gospel, the Lord told us that there was something more important than being afraid of what can kill the body.

Many people are unaware that what they think they are practising as their Faith is not the true Catholic doctrine. This is can be seen in how the liturgy is celebrated and how some conduct themselves before the Blessed Sacrament. The source of all this malpractice and even abuse goes back to the erroneous teaching that percolated down over the years from dissident theologians and scholars of various colours all calling themselves “Catholic.” But they are not Catholic if they base their understanding of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass on their own opinions, regardless of how learned they are.

The Lord himself warned us about false teaching. It is deadlier than the coronavirus. In Matthew’s Gospel, the Lord told us that there was something more important than being afraid of what can kill the body.

Heresy was always somewhere

around but it was contained and the people were protected from it by the Magisterium of the Church.

However, in the years following the Second Vatican Council, the ideas of some errant theologians were able to percolate down and were accepted by many Catholic people.

Most trusted that these new ideas were a result of the Council which some believed, was chiefly to give lay people a greater role in the celebration of Mass.

Unfortunately there are still some who hold theological positions that are in complete contradiction to the true meaning of the Eucharist.

In The Organic Development of Liturgy, Pope Benedict XVI asserts “The liturgy is not about us, but about God. Forgetting about God is the most imminent danger of our age. As against this, the liturgy should be setting up a sign of God’s presence.”

Community is seen as the most important aspect of liturgy but this is a mistake. When the focus is taken off God and moved to the people, there can be no true community. It would be just a collection of cells without an organising principle and without a head.

This raises another point. There is an erroneous doctrine circulating which holds that the purpose of Sunday Mass is so that people might gather to praise and thank the Lord. For this reason, there are some who bemoan the fact that due to the restrictions, Catholics are not allowed to gather as they had always gathered. To emphasise this aspect is to diminish the centrality of the offering of Jesus to the Father and the meaning of Mass which does not depend on people gathering together although it is always preferable that the members of the Body of Christ offer the

sacrifice in union with the priest, in Persona Christi.

Catholic people were informed that in the early Church, the liturgy was essentially public worship of the people when the whole believing community approaches God in prayer and it is they who bring about the change in the elements.

We were encouraged to believe that our full, conscious, active participation was central to the celebration. We were falsely taught that the Church had gone astray in privileging the priest over the laity in the celebration of the liturgy and this so-called mistake had to be reversed. We have seen what this turned out to mean in practice, when people-centred liturgies are now the norm and there is much less reverence towards God. This still affects us now, when thanks be to God we are returning to the real celebration of Mass.

Nonetheless, believing that the people’s gathering is of great importance while erroneous, is still not as serious as believing that it is this gathering that actually brings about the transubstantiation of the bread and wine into the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ. This will not usually be open stated of course, but it is implied when the priest does not believe that he is Alter Christus and that it is only through him, acting in the Person of Christ, that this tremendous miracle can happen. One way we can see this happening is when the celebrant blesses the people and says: “May the Lord bless us…”

We are at least partly to blame.

What is wrong with us that we find it so hard to fully grasp that we have the fullness of truth in the Catholic Church? Why do we act in such a half-hearted way during our liturgical celebrations, embarrassed

by any sign of genuine reverence like making a solemn genuflection or putting our heads down and praying with sincere feeling? The responses during Mass would not inspire anyone nor would the demeanour of most people at Holy Communion. Why is it that those who seem so devout at Eucharistic Adoration or when making novenas, do not exhibit the same degree of reverence towards the presence of Jesus in the tabernacle and often stand chatting and laughing in the church after Mass?

Comparing ourselves with other religious communities can be a cause for shame. The Muslims are better than us when it comes to discipline, prayer and fasting; the Buddhists are better at meditation and some Protestant denominations, although exhibiting what we would consider an excess of emotion, nevertheless express outwardly what they sincerely believe.

The texts of the Anglican liturgical services are very revealing. We cannot but be impressed on the one hand at their beauty and gravity and on the other at the similarity to some of our own. This should not surprise us as all spring from the roots of the same tree. What might surprise us though, is the degree of reverence and dignity with which the ceremonies are carried out.

The demeanour and conviction of the congregation befits the attitude of creatures before the majesty of God. Yet the Anglican community does not have the real presence of Our Blessed Lord as we Catholics do. If we could be present at an Anglican service, we would surely be edified. Members of the Anglican communion are not obliged to attend their service each Sunday as are Catholics, so we can safely say that those who do attend regularly are committed and take part with conviction.

We are all too aware that the social and moral teaching of the Church founded by Jesus Christ is being attacked from many different quarters. The Second Coming, the prophetic poem of W.B. Yeats contains memorable images that resonate in today’s world: Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold; Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world, The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere The ceremony of innocence is drowned; Individual conscience is often cited as being the highest authority and many who consider themselves Catholics have no problem with disregarding what the Church teaches which results in confusion. Some words are particularly applicable to liturgy: The best lack all conviction, while the worst Are full of passionate intensity.

When the false teaching is accepted it is no wonder that there are even pagan and New Age intrusions into the sacredness of the Mass, not to speak of certain feminist liturgies which seek to glorify “a woman’s right to choose.”

On the one hand we have liturgy at its worst which is not only based on error and arrogance but profanes genuine Christian worship. On the other hand, we regularly witness the beauty, richness and authenticity of Catholic liturgy carried out with haste, carelessness and lack of reverence. While in many parishes a great deal of emphasis is placed on the faithful taking part in external actions, it appears that little thought is given to where authentic participation is not just desirable but required. The missing word is conviction. If Catholics declared their responses in a manner that showed they believed in what they were saying, others would be attracted. After all, this is mainly how the Faith was passed on from generation to generation and not necessarily by those who studied theology. What is the answer? How do we remedy a situation where we as Catholics believe we have the full truth yet do not act on it within our liturgies? It is a challenge for all who love the Church.

This observation does not of course include those people whose voices and actions bear witness to the great truth of the holy sacrifice of the Mass, but unfortunately they are a small minority.

A review of Janet Smith’s recent book on Humanae Vitae. Ignatius Press 2018 This collection of essays under the editorship of a wellknown champion of Paul VIs encyclical, is a timely call to arms on contraception and Humanae Vitae.

Mary Eberstadt underscores the prophetic power of Humanae Vitae and says “Humanae Vitae does not burn” despite all those trying to relativise it in the Catholic Church. Deborah Savage says that the dignity of woman cannot be understood in any real sense apart from her natural capacity to bear and nurture life.

Uju Ekeocha, the founder and head of Culture of Life Africa decries the rhetoric that population explosion in Africa is a cause of famines. She wrote an outraged letter to Melinda Gates because of ongoing her plan to spend $5 billion to ensure that African women’s fertility was blocked by contraception, and says that this is racism, imperialism, and colonialism disguised as philanthropy. Christopher West recalls the Fatima We are pleased to have received many positive comments about the new magazine size of CatholicVoice.

There are chapters on the Theology of the Body and Biblical underpinnings of Humanae Vitae. A new redaction of the ethical norms of conjugal life by a group of theologians from Krakow which was headed by Karol Cardinal Wojtyla gives an exposition on the place of natural law in the Church’s teaching on contraception. Maria Fedoryka gives a personalist view to show that only productive love - “union plus fruit” - equals love.

Janet Smith herself writes three chapters, one on Natural sex, that shows why intercourse without procreation is confusing and leads to destructive and perverse practices and that true love and holiness cannot be thereby achieved. Her second chapter is concerning the Sensus Fidelium and contraception.

Many priests and bishops are reluctant to preach against contraception because the majority of Catholics in the West approve of and practice it. Ms Smith shows that Catholic theologians are wrong to take this widespread acquiescence as a Sensus Fidelium. Newman believed that the few, “grex parvus” who have the power to remain faithful to church teaching, and who know and live their faith, are the ones that affirm the wisdom of the Church concerning sexual morality and who should be listened to. She has a third chapter on how important right conscience formation is both for catholic laity and physicians and that it is not being taught.

This book is a challenge to all levels of the Catholic faith to rethink the terrible damage that contraception is doing to society, to our religion and to our relationships.

Bishops and priests cannot be cowed by the apparent Sensus Fidelium, but must defend this ongoing attack on families by proclaiming Humanae Vitae is still right.

Premature Baby Touted As Uk’s Youngest Covid Survivor After 2 Months In Hospital Society for the Protection of Unborn Children The celebrated baby boy went home with his mother on May 8, having fought off not just the coronavirus, but also a case of sepsis.

A baby boy who was born three months prematurely has become the UK’s youngest COVID-19 survivor after beating the virus. The Society for the Protection of Unborn Children has described the baby’s remarkable recovery as “a powerful witness to life”.

“This is a beautiful story of the will to live in a baby who should still have been in his mother’s womb at the time he was fighting off COVID-19,” said Eden Linton of SPUC. “Stories like this show us how strong a baby can be well before birth. Little Emmanuel is a powerful witness to life itself.”

Emmanuel Boateng, from Peckham South London, was born prematurely at just 27 weeks old. After his birth medics noticed Emmanuel was not feeding properly.

He was rushed to King’s College hospital in London, where he then tested positive for Coronavirus.

Emmanuel’s mother, Evelyn Boateng, was told by medics to leave her tiny baby and go home to quarantine for two weeks. Mrs Boateng said: “By then, the cases were just going up and up each and every day...

“I just stood there watching him and I was like ‘Emmanuel, mummy is leaving you. You are going to be alone but we will always be here in spirit.’ “In that first 24 hours, I was told to prepare for the worst three times. I was on my own in the hospital crying and just praying to God that my little boy was going to OK.” Emmanuel spent almost two months in hospital where he received support from a ventilator to help him breathe and was administered the anti-viral drug, Remdesivir, which is more commonly used to treat patients with Ebola.

After almost two months in hospital, Emmanuel made a remarkable recovery. The tiny baby managed to fight off both the Coronavirus and sepsis. He is the youngest COVID-19 survivor in the United Kingdom.

Mrs Boateng said that she felt a great sense of joy when she returned to the hospital to be reunited with Emmanuel.

Emmanuel was discharged from hospital and returned home to enjoy life with his family on May 8th, the same date he was due to be born.

Staff from King’s College hospital lined the ward upon Emmanuel’s departure to clap him goodbye. Mrs Boateng added: “It is something I will never forget.

There was an enormous sense of relief that this was a happy story among all the deaths at King’s.”

Devotion of Reparation To The Immaculate Heart of Mary We have produced a little fold over card to help people to complete the Five First Saturdays Devotion. Our Lord explained to Sr Lucia the reason why the Devotion consists of five first Saturdays. It is in order to make reparation for the five primary offences committed against Our Blessed Mother. We are asked to defend the honour of our Heavenly Mother in this devotion.

For generations now, we the faithful, have been fed a slow poison that has obscured the true ways of God and the supernatural life that he has marked out for us as a means of getting to Heaven. Our bishops and many priests have failed to preach those hard truths taught by the Catholic Church from the beginning. Catholics today could be forgiven for believing that Hell and Purgatory no longer exist. Church leaders now pay more attention to the secular world than to God. Not even in the worse persecutions of the Early Church did their public acts of worship come to a halt in the way that we have witnessed in our own day. Our malformed shepherds might point to those saved for a few years more of living here on earth but it is Christ who will point to those lost for all eternity to Hell as his Church became a non-essential service.

We Catholics have all been gravely compromised by a form of preaching over the past five decades that has displaced God and pushed him to the margins of our hearts and minds. It would be well to quote an extract of an extraordinary prophesy that can be found in the official Catechism of the Catholic Church that relates to these times that we are living through. It can be found in Articles 675-677 and it reads: “The supreme religious deception is that of the Antichrist, a pseudomessianism by which man glorifies himself in place of God and of his Messiah come in the flesh.”

Catholics need to wake up and understand that our good bishops and priests are still in the majority but it is the wolves in sheep’s clothing that are holding the levers of power in the Church and leading countless souls to Hell.

We must wait for this abomination within the Church to pass and for our true shepherds to finally emerge from the fog of this unholy war that is raging within the Church. In the meantime we should demand, in Christ’s name, that the spiritual goods of the Church be administered to the faithful at all times so that the

New Inspiration for Catholic Married Couples Dear Editor, Louis and Zeile Martin were first married couple to be canonised together in the history of the Catholic church. And although they lived 150 years ago, they are in some ways a rather romantic couple. Louis was a watch maker and Zeile a homemaker for their children.

The family lived a comfortable lifestyle, but they also suffered the loss of four children at an early age and had to deal with a rebellious daughter. Their devotion never wavered, however. The couple lived modestly, reached out to the poor and the needy, and led daily prayers in the household.

In 1877, at age 45, Zeile Martin died of breast cancer after only 19 years of marriage, leaving Louis a widower and having to look after his children by himself. They are saints because, through their married life, they grew together in holiness. While living a normal and happy life, Louis and Zeile showed their children the path to holiness and gave them space to become what God was calling them to be.

The miracle that allowed for their canonisation was the curing of a little girl, called Carmen, born prematurely and with multiple life-threatening complications.

Carmen suffered a major brain haemorrhage, which could have caused irreversible damage. Her

parents prayed for the Martin’s intercession and the result was that Carmen recovered completely.

Pope Francis canonised the Martins in October 2015. Their feast day is the 12th of July.

Political considerations in London are more important. This is the type of thing we were arguing about in the first instance.

Two issues are now before us:

The second part of Michael Portillo’s “Hawks and Doves” film (RTE1), was a second reminder of what many Irish people lived through in the 1900s.

In the South, the earlier hard-won vote was used in handing over, ad finitum, of an important power from the people to some future unknown politicians.

This time, it was largely the turn of Nationalists in Northern Ireland. It was equally unpleasant, but more long-lasting. Thanks to the efforts of some outstanding people and also TV, the situation abated somewhat.

In the North, an alien rule is being imposed.

Neither can hardly be described as progress.

But the irony remained, and even increased in recent days.

The Mind Controllers Are After Your Children John Lacken Please pause for one moment and offer up one Ave for our bishops.

Ave Maria, gratia plena, Dominus tecum. Benedicta tu in mulieribus, et benedictus fructus ventris tui, Iesus. Sancta Maria, Mater Dei, ora pro nobis peccatoribus, nunc et in hora mortis nostrae. Amen I was contacted by a parent recently who asked me if I would consider putting an ‘adult content’ warning on my articles which deal with human sexuality and with the perversions that the sex educators want to teach to children. I am not fully in favour of highlighting the adult nature of my articles in case it has the opposite effect to the one desired, by attracting curiosity, but please be warned, if you have young children in your home who might have access to the Catholic Voice, that my articles often deal with subject matter that is not suitable for children. This is very likely to continue as I deal with some of the issues that will arise on account of our new government which has a particular focus on indoctrinating children with the LGBT agenda and with the early sexualisation of children, even in their pre-school years. I hope the irony is not lost on Catholic parents that we need to warn them to protect their children from reading about what will be taught to the children in schools.

During the lock-down, when the weather was fine, my wife would often encourage me to go out with her for a walk. We live in the countryside and when the weather is fine, my wife likes to get me away from the computer and the technology for a little while. She also likes to get me away from some of the ‘dark’ materials which I often have to write about.

During some of these lock-down walks, while reflecting on how our country and the practice of

the Faith was being impacted by Covid-19, or Covid-1984 as one internet blogger likes to refer to it, I would remark on how peaceful life seemed to be in our part of the country. Little lambs and baby calves were bounding about and running in the fields. The purple foxglove; the yellow gorse flowers with their hint of coconut fragrance; and many other hedgerow plants were coming into bloom.

From my viewpoint, the Catholic Faith is under serious attack and yet, here in the countryside, apart from the world of humans, life continues as normal. Very few people seem to be aware of the attack against the Catholic Church.

For me, there was sometimes an almost surreal aspect to these walks in that they masked the seriousness of the problems we are facing. It was like there was a dark cloud on the horizon that could hardly be perceived and that gave an ominous, almost ever present, dark hue to life, warning of some impending disaster.

It was something which I struggled to define. I knew that something was going on, but I could not quite name it or describe it until yesterday. Yesterday, someone refused to shake my hand because of the apparent threat of Covid-19.

Now please don’t get me wrong, I was not insisting that they shake my hand, I was just surprised at the hesitant refusal, because this person is a friend. I got a little tetchy when it was suggested that perhaps we should bump elbows instead. I am not prepared to succumb to the ‘new normal’ being imposed on us by government forces.

Afterwards, when I had apologised to my friend for my tetchiness, it became a kind of ‘Eureka’ moment, because I could finally identify and

name this ‘thing’ that I had been aware of for some time and I could begin to do some research on what it is that we are going through. This is not about the handshake or about my friend. For some it may already be obvious, but the fact is that we are being systematically subjected to deliberate mind control techniques; by our government; by our media; and on the internet.

These thought control propaganda techniques have been in use for many decades. The Covid-19 virus has allowed the mind controllers to step up their game, and this is what has clearly exposed their techniques to me and the simple refusal of a handshake opened my eyes more fully. It was one of those ‘red-pill’ moments.

I don’t mind if someone doesn’t want to shake my hand, but this time it just felt personal. I know that it was not meant personally, but I was now regarded as the potential enemy, the potential Covid carrier who brings sickness, death and destruction in his wake. To touch my hand would be to court disease and possible death.

This is how all of us are now being portrayed by our government and by our health department officials. We must be protected from one another.

I am sorry to have to say that our church officials have also joined in this campaign which amounts to a disparagement of human beings.

We are being systematically desensitised and de-humanised and asked to treat each other with extreme wariness and caution because of the existence of a virus.

Our neighbours, we are being told repeatedly, have become a threat to our health and well being and we must protect ourselves from them.

of “thought reform” which used various psychological techniques in an attempt to change people’s thought processes so that they would think favourably of and submit to the regime. The Chinese regime under Mao was particularly brutal and ended up causing the deaths of tens of millions of Chinese. The mind control techniques developed in China were studied by Western psychologists and some of them have been adapted to make them seem less coercive, and are now regularly used by politicians, governments, pressure groups, and even businesses in order to bring about social or other changes.

If we look at the situation here in Ireland, it is legitimate to ask the question, ‘how did a once Catholic nation come to embrace the new pagan ideologies so quickly and so enthusiastically?’

Part of the answer to this question involves the use of subtle, and sometimes not so subtle, thought control techniques.

In his book ‘Thought Reform and the Psychology of Totalism’, Robert Jay Lifton, who studied Chinese thought reform techniques and their effects on those subject to them, notes the following.

“Whatever its setting, thought reform consists of two basic elements: confession, the exposure and renunciation of past and present ‘evil’; and re-education, the remaking of a man in the Communist image. These elements are closely related and overlapping, since they both bring into play a series of pressures and appeals; intellectual, emotional, and physical, aimed at social control and individual change.”

These two elements are still being used today by those who wish to change how people think. In Irish society, the main focus of the use of these techniques by those who wish to change our society, is to encourage people to abandon Catholic teaching.

In business, the motivation is simply for money and profit. In

One of the clearest examples of the use of these techniques in Irish society is the rise of the global LGBT movement.

The element of ‘confession and the exposure and renunciation of past and present evil’, can be seen in the false narrative that has been created which claims that those with samesex attraction are among the most persecuted section of our society.

The Catholic Church is falsely labelled as the organisation that fomented the oppression of those with same-sex attraction, because the Catholic Church correctly teaches that homosexual acts are disordered and that homosexual relationships are disordered.

Anyone who disputes or contradicts this narrative is labelled as ‘homophobic’, biphobic, transphobic or ‘whatever you’re having yourself phobic’.

New terms of denunciation are made up to denounce each and every viewpoint that is at variance with the global narrative.

The confessions come when bishops and priests apologise for

crimes committed by Catholics in the past for which they personally do not bear any responsibility. This is also a part of the tactic, if you are a Catholic, then you are personally responsible for all the crimes and perceived crimes that Catholics have committed at any time in the past.

Another part of the confession comes from those who claim to renounce the past by accepting the LGBT movement. This is most effective for those working to change our society, when the advocates hold positions of authority within the Catholic Church.

One recent example of this is the head Chaplain to the Irish Army, a Catholic priest of the diocese of Limerick, who publicly expressed his disappointment at being unable to attend the Dublin Pride parade this year in a video. There is a screen shot from his video above. In the video, which is publicly available on the Irish Army’s chaplaincy website, the Catholic priest says: “This year I was looking forward to representing the Chaplaincy Service of the Irish Defence Forces for the first time at the Dublin Pride Parade. I felt priveleged as Head Chaplain to have the opportunity to walk side by side with our LGBTQI+ members, showing solidarity and support.”

We have contacted his bishop, but have not had a response at the time of going to print. Perhaps our readers, especially those who are parents of young children, would write a respectful letter to the Bishop of Limerick, Bishop Brendan Leahy, expressing their concerns that a Catholic priest of his diocese, is publicly associating himself with the celebration of the deviant homosexual lifestyle that is the Dublin Pride Parade.

Another example of this confession and renunciation element is seen in the ‘Black Lives Matter’ movement.

The irony of this movement is that it is a ‘racist’ movement which claims to be fighting against racism.

Not surprisingly, BLM has a full page advertisement on the back of this year’s Dublin Pride Festival brochure. These activists for societal change network together in their attempts to overthrow Christendom and to undermine the influence of the Catholic Church in Ireland.

Their networks are very effective as witnessed by the recent protests in Dublin which brought crowds into the streets despite the government’s lock-down restrictions. This was not a spontaneous gathering of concerned citizens, this was a rally that was organised and co-ordinated by a sophisticated and well funded network of political and social activists.

The Catholic Church teaches us in ‘Redemptionis Sacramentum’ numbers 91 & 92: “In distributing Holy Communion it is to be remembered that “sacred ministers may not deny the sacraments to those who seek them in a reasonable manner, are rightly disposed, and are not prohibited by law from receiving them”. Hence any baptised Catholic who is not

Regarding the distribution of Holy Communion, the Catholic Church teaches that the norm for receiving Holy Communion is on the tongue whilst kneeling and that no one can be refused Holy Communion on the tongue.

Provision is made for refusing Holy Communion in the hand because there is a greater danger of sacrilege. I witnessed this greater danger while watching an online

In his book, Robert Lifton also mentions the use of slogans.

“The Russian Communist reliance upon emotionally charged slogans has an analogue in the traditional Chinese style of thinking in wholes rather than in parts, of using proverbs and metaphor to envelop a subject emotionally as well as intellectually.”

The Irish government’s use of slogans during recent referenda campaigns on same-sex relationships, baby killing and divorce, and their slogans during the current, so called, Covid-19 pandemic is classic mind control.

The Department of Health now controls our Churches. Ex Health Minister Simon Harris, whose legislation killed 6,666 Irish children last year.

Mass recently. The congregation were required to wear face masks and to receive Holy Communion in the hand. The increased danger of sacrilege arose because people had to move their face masks away from their mouths, while the Sacred Host was in their hand, in order to be able to receive Jesus.

I also noticed at this Novus Ordo Holy Mass, that the priest washed his hands with soap and water into a bowl on the altar rails immediately after distributing Holy Communion. He did not rinse his hands over the chalice to make sure that any particles of the Sacred Hosts which may have adhered to his hands were treated according to Catholic Church teaching on the celebration of Holy Mass.

It was obvious, that the soap, the bowl of water, the hand sanitiser and the paper towels for drying his hands, were placed conspicuously so that it could be seen that the priest was following our government’s health directions. This was whilst

he was ignoring the teachings of the Catholic Church which always permits Catholics to receive Holy Communion on the tongue.

I find it strange that our bishops are so keen to comply with state legislation in regard to the distribution of Holy Communion, and that they insist that we faithful must also comply with these directives, yet, at the same time, they ignore the directives of the Catholic Church which are binding under God because they have been issued under the authority of Peter.

“And I say to thee: That thou art Peter; and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

And I will give to thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven. And whatsoever thou shalt bind upon earth, it shall be bound also in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose upon earth, it shall be loosed also in heaven.” (Matthew 16:1819)

LIBERALISM IS A SIN

I passed by Knock Shrine recently and a queue was beginning to form outside of the parish Church just over an hour before Holy Mass was due to begin. Only fifty people are allowed to attend Holy Mass at any one time, on a first come first serve basis. They have security guards on the doors of the Church to enforce the rule.

Our Lord says “Come to me, all you that labour, and are burdened, and I will refresh you.” (Matthew 11:28) In Knock they are saying that only fifty people can come to Jesus at a time. It is reminiscent of the apostles turning the children away from Jesus and Jesus rebuked the apostles.

In my next article I will begin to look at the second element of this mind control; the re-education of the people and especially how this has infiltrated our Catholic schools under the guise of the slogans ‘diversity’, inclusiveness’ and ‘all are welcome’ To be cont’d...

July - The Month of the Precious Blood John the Baptist has pointed out the Lamb, Peter has firmly established his throne, Paul has prepared the bride; their joint work, admirable in its unity, at once suggests the reason for their feasts occurring almost simultaneously in the cycle. The alliance being now secured, all three fall into shade; whilst the bride herself, raised up by them to such lofty heights, appears alone before us, holding in her hands the sacred cup of the nuptial-feast.

This gives the key of to-day’s solemnity, revealing how its appearance in the heavens of the holy liturgy at this particular season is replete with mystery. The Church, it is true, has already made known to the sons of the new covenant, in a much more solemn manner, the price of the Blood that redeemed them, its nutritive strength and the adoring homage which is its due. On Good Friday earth and heaven beheld all sin drowned in the saving stream, whose eternal floodgates at last gave way beneath the combined effort of man’s violence and of the love of the divine Heart. The festival of Corpus Christi witnessed our prostrate worship before the altars whereon is perpetuated the Sacrifice of Calvary, and where the outpouring of the precious Blood affords drink to the humblest little ones, as well as to the mightiest potentates of earth, lowly bowed in adoration before it.

How is it, then, that holy Church is now inviting all Christians to hail, in a particular manner, the stream of life ever gushing from the sacred fount? What else can this mean, but that the preceding solemnities have by no means exhausted the mystery? The peace which this Blood has made to reign in the high places as well as in the low; the impetus of its wave bearing back the sons of Adam from the yawning gulf, purified, renewed arid dazzling white in the radiance of their heavenly apparel; the sacred Table outspread before them on the waters’ brink, and the chalice brimful of inebriation - all this preparation and display would be objectless, all these splendours would be incomprehensible, if man were not brought to see therein the wooings of a love that could never endure its advances to be outdone by the pretensions of any other. Therefore, the Blood of Jesus is set before our eyes at this moment as the Blood of the Testament; the pledge of the alliance proposed to us by God; the dower

stipulated by eternal Wisdom for this divine union to which he is inviting all men, and its consummation in our soul which is being urged forward with such vehemence by the Holy Ghost.

“Having therefore, brethren, a confidence in entering into the Holies by the Blood of Christ”: says the apostle, “a new and living way which he hath dedicated for us through the veil - that is to say, his flesh - let us draw near with a pure heart in fullness of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with clean water, let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he is faithful that hath promised. Let us consider one another to provoke unto charity and to good works.” (Hebrews 10:19-24) “And may the God of peace who brought again from the dead the great Pastor of the sheep, our Lord Jesus Christ, in the Blood of the everlasting Testament, fit you in all goodness, that you may do his will: doing in you that which is well-pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom is glory for ever and ever. Amen!” (Hebrews 13:2021) Nor must we omit to mention here, that this feast is a monument of one of the most brilliant victories of holy Church in our own age. Pius IX had been driven from Rome in 1848 by the triumphant revolution; but the following year, just about this season, his power was re-established.

Under the aegis of the apostles on June 28th and the two following days, the eldest daughter of the Church, faithful to her past glories, swept the ramparts of the eternal city; and on July 2, Mary’s festival, the victory was completed. Not long after this, a twofold decree notified to the city and to the world the Pontiff’s gratitude and the way in which he intended to perpetuate, in the sacred liturgy, the memory of these events. On August 10th, from Gaeta itself, the place of his exile in the evil day, Pius IX, before returning to re-assume the government of his States, addressing himself to the invisible Head of the Church, confided her in a special manner to his divine care, by the institution of this day’s festival; reminding him that it was for his Church that he had vouchsafed to shed all his precious Blood. Dom Prosper Gueranger and Pius VIII had done under other circumstances, the Vicar of Christ solemnly attributed the honour of the recent victory to her who is ever the help of Christians; for on the feast of her Visitation it had been gained; and he now decreed that this said feast of July 2 should be raised from the rite of double major to that of second class throughout the whole world. This was a prelude to the definition of the dogma of the Immaculate Conception, which the immortal Pontiff had already projected, whereby the crushing of the serpent’s head would be completed.

The Church, formed by the apostles from all the nations under heaven, advances towards the altar of the Spouse who hath redeemed her in his Blood, and in the Introit hails his merciful love.

She, henceforth, is the kingdom of God, the depository of truth.

The Blood of the Man-God, being the pledge of peace between heaven and earth, the object of profoundest worship, the centre of the whole liturgy, and our assured protection against all the evils of this present life, deposits, even now, in the souls and bodies of those whom it has ransomed, the germ of eternal happiness.

The Church, therefore, in her Collect, begs of the Father, who has given us his only-begotten Son, that this divine germ may not remain sterile within us, but may come to full development in heaven.

It was by his own Blood that the Son of God entered into heaven; this divine Blood continues to be the means whereby we also may be introduced into the eternal alliance.

Thus, the old Covenant, founded on the observance of the precepts of Sinai, had likewise by blood consecrated the people and the law, the tabernacle and the vessels it was to contain; but the whole was but a figure.

“Now,” says St Ambrose, “it behoves us to tend to truth.

Here below, there is the shadow; here below, there is the image; up yonder, there is the truth. In the law was but the shadow; the image is to be found in the Gospel; the truth is in heaven. Formerly a lamb was immolated; now Christ is sacrificed, but only under the signs of the mysteries, whereas in: heaven it is without veil. There alone, consequently, is full perfection unto which our thoughts should cleave, because all perfection is in

truth without image and without shadow.” (Ambr. De Offic. I 48) There alone is rest: thither, even in this world, do the sons of God tend; without indeed attaining fully thereunto, they reach nearer and nearer day by day; for there alone is to be found that peace which forms saints.

“0 Lord God,” cries out in his turn another illustrious doctor, the great St Augustine, “give us this peace, the peace of repose, the peace of the seventh day, of that Sabbath whose sun never sets. Yea! verily the whole order of nature and grace is very beautiful unto thy servitors, and goodly are the realities they cover; but these images, these successive forms, bide only awhile, and their evolution ended they pass away. The days thou didst fill with thy creations are composed of morning and of evening, the seventh alone excepted, for it declineth not, because thou hast for ever sanctified it in thine own rest.

Now what is this rest, save that which thou takest in us, when we ourselves repose in thee, in the fruitful peace which crowns the series of thy graces in us?

0 sacred rest, more productive than labour! the perfect alone know thee, they who suffer the divine hand to accomplish within them the work of the six days.”

(Augustine Confessions) And the apostle goes on to say, interpreting by means of other parts of Scripture his own words, “And therefore to-day if ye shall hear his voice, harden not your hearts.” (Hebrews 3:7-8) The divine Blood has made us participators of Christ: it is our part not to squander, as though it were worthless, this immense treasure, this initial incorporation which unites us to Christ, the divine Head; but let us abandon ourselves, without reserve, to the energy of this precious leaven, whose property it is to transform our whole being into him. Let us be afraid lest we fall short of the promise of our entering into God’s rest, as St Paul tells us. It regards all believers, he says, and this divine Sabbath is for the whole people of the Lord.

Has Russia Been Consecrated to the Immaculate Heart?

In the last issue of Catholic Voice, we published a letter from a reader with a query about the consecration of Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. There is some controversy as to whether or not the consecration has actually been done. It is reported that Sr Lucia said that the consecration made by Pope Saint John Paul II in 1984, fulfilled Our Lady’s requests. Other prominent Catholics believe that the consecration has not been done because Russia was not specifically mentioned as Our Lady requested.

The Lumen Fidei Institute takes the view that, to date, Our Lord’s wishes as given to us by Our Lady at Fatima, have yet to be carried out as she specifically requested.

Without wishing to get into deep controversy we will set forth the reasons why we hold the position that the consecration of Russia has not been done.

What Our Lady requested is quite simple and may be said to contain three parts.

1. The Pope to Consecrate Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary 2. The Catholic bishops of the world to join the Pope in making the consecration.

3. The establishment of the Five First Saturdays Devotion of Reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

A consecration is a very solemn act by which a particular object, person or nation is dedicated to God or is made Holy. In the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, at the moment of consecration, the objects of bread and wine are transubstantiated and become the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ.

It is important that what is to be consecrated is named. In the sacraments this is called the ‘form’ of the Sacrament without which the sacrament would be invalid.

In Baptism, the parents are asked ‘what name do you give this child?’

At confirmation, a new name is given to the one confirmed. In marriage, the vows exchanged are ‘I ‘name’ take you ‘name’ to be my spouse. When a priest is ordained, he is named. When a bishop is consecrated, he is named.

If this is done in secret because of persecution, there must be witnesses who can testify that a certain named man was consecrated as a bishop.

When religious are consecrated and profess their vows, they are named. In some congregations they are given a new name. None of these consecrations can be carried out without naming the one to be consecrated.

If a priest is asked to celebrate the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass for someone’s deceased father, and the priest celebrates Holy Mass for all men who have died, of course the deceased person would be included in this, but the priest will not have carried out what was asked of him.

Another reason that raises a doubt as to whether or not the consecration has been done is that Our Lady told what the fruits of the consecration of Russia would be. There should be an obvious connection between the act of consecration, and the subsequent conversion of Russia, so that it is obvious that Russia’s conversion has come from Our Lady’ requests.

It would seem, that in asking for Russia to be consecrated to Her Immaculate Heart, Our Lady wishes to heal the great schism of 1054 which has been a wound in the Catholic Church for almost a thousand years.

Both Cardinal Burke and Bishop Atha na sius Sc hne id e r h a v e publicly called for the consecration of Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. In May of this year, at the Rome Life forum, Cardinal Burke said: “Recognising the necessity of a total conversion from atheistic materialism and communism to Christ, the call of Our Lady of Fatima to consecrate Russia to her Immaculate Heart, in accord with her explicit instruction, remains urgent.”

Catholics are free to believe that the consecration has not been done and it is permissible to ask Pope Francis and the world’s Catholic bishops, to consecrate Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

In order for Our Lady’s wishes to be fulfilled the Pope must consecrate Russia by name and he must be joined by the Catholic bishops of the world. To date, this has not happened and so we are asking Catholics to join with us in appealing to Pope Francis to consecrate Russia by name to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Similarly, the era of peace, which has not yet materialised, should be clearly attributable to the actions of the Pope and the Catholic bishops of the world.

We are asking Pope Francis to do this on October 13th this year, the anniversary of the great Miracle of the Sun at Fatima.

Thirty six years have passed since Pope Saint John Paul II’s consecration in 1984, yet Russia has not converted, the Russian errors of communism continue to spread at an alarming pace, and there has been no era of peace. Even Ireland, once a great bastion of the Catholic Faith, is now effectively a communist state.

To Pope Francis and the Worlds Bishops Consecrate Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary Establish As A Universal Practice of the Catholic Church

The Five First Saturday Devotion Of Reparation On October 13th, 2020

The purpose of this Global appeal is to gather the signatures of Catholics from all over the World who wish to unite in the appeal to Pope Francis and to the World’s Catholic Bishops asking them to specifically consecrate Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, as she herself requested. The consecration must be specifically for Russia and must mention Russia by name.

These signatures will be presented to Pope Francis on the 7th October, 2020, with copies of the signatures from each diocese being sent to the relevant Diocesan Bishop asking for the consecration of Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, to take place on October 13th, 2020, the 103rd anniversary of the Miracle of Fatima.

The appeal will also ask for the formal establishment, as a Universal Practice of the Catholic Church, The Five First Saturday Devotion of Reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

It is hoped to collect the signatures on a country by country basis, or a State by State basis where this is more appropriate. Each country/state will have a central co-ordinator but all Catholic organisations will be encouraged to take part so that the appeal will have as broad a reach as possible and in an effort to avoid any partisanship.

The official launch of the appeal will take place on Friday 19th June, 2020, the feast of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus and will close on Tuesday 15th September, the feast of Our Lady of Sorrows to allow time to sort and co-ordinate the signatures on a Diocese by Diocese basis.

Calling Out Sin And The True Meaning of Mercy Gina Sower

“A man fell victim to robbers as he went down from Jerusalem to Jericho. They stripped and beat him and went off leaving him halfdead. A priest happened to be going down that road, but when he saw him, he passed by on the opposite side. Likewise a Levite came to the place, and when he saw him, he passed by on the opposite side. But a Samaritan traveller who came upon him was moved with compassion at the sight. He approached the victim, poured oil and wine over his wounds and bandaged them. Then he lifted him up on his own animal, took him to an inn and cared for him. The next day he took out two silver coins and gave them to the innkeeper with the instruction, Take care of him. If you spend more than what I have given you, I shall repay you on my way back.’ Which of these three, in your opinion, was neighbor to the robbers’ victim? He answered, ‘The one who treated him with mercy.’ Jesus said to him, ‘Go and do likewise.’” (Luke 10:25-37) At the end of the Parable of the Good Samaritan, Jesus tells us that if we want to be like the Good Samaritan, we must treat others with mercy. There is a false idea of mercy that is prevalent not only within our culture, but also within the Church.

We hear about mercy often, almost as often as we hear about love.

Don’t get me wrong: as a Catholic, I am all about love and mercy. It is truly those words that should define anyone who calls himself Christian. However, the problem lies in failing to define what these words actually mean and how they should be implemented in our lives.

Unfortunately, to many people, mercy means being accepting of another person’s sinful behaviour and that the “real sin” would be to offend that person with the truth of the Gospel.

The Good Samaritan - David Teniers the Younger (1610 - 1690) The actions of the Good Samaritan were merciful for the very fact that he saw the man’s wounds and did not turn a blind eye to them. True mercy is found not by ignoring our neighbours’ needs, but by offering a remedy to their ailments, just as the Good Samaritan exemplifies.

Mercy, like love, is geared toward the actual good of another person, especially the good of his soul.

Mercy has nothing to do with being accepting of one’s lifestyle if it is contrary to that person’s salvation.

Most of us do not have a problem extending mercy when it comes to the physical needs of our neighbours. For example, no one is afraid to feed the poor or clothe the naked. The corporal acts of mercy are, for the most part, smiled upon by our culture. However, the spiritual acts of mercy, like admonishing the sinner, are labelled as intolerant or even hateful. Our culture sees mercy as condoning sin, while true mercy frees people from the slavery of sin and death. Mercy is in seeing the wounded soul and offering it a true remedy.

It is sad, but the false identification with mercy has seeped into the Church. Instead of the Church affecting the culture, the culture has affected the Church. If we want to see this reversed, and to see the truths of our faith affecting the culture, then we, as Catholics, must start showing true mercy, especially to those who have not been fortunate enough to hear it.

A while back, I had taken a rebellious teenager, an extended family member of mine, to a Catholic talk on purity. I was hesitant to ask for all the normal reasons, like the fear of rejection and concern over what she and the other family members might think of it. I finally mustered up the courage to ask, and, to my surprise, she came. I will never forget how, after the talk was over, she looked at me and said, “I just wish I would have known this before.” On the one hand, I was ecstatic because her eyes had been opened. The lies had been shattered by the words of mercy, of truth. Yet, at the same time, I was heartbroken that it wasn’t until now that she was hearing it.

family member. They too have been sold the lies of our culture.

It baffles me that, in most Catholic parishes today, nothing is said to help the majority of the laity, who have succumbed to the ideals of the world and are in a state of mortal sin. For example, most Catholics today are contracepting, are fornicating, and far too many have written off issues like sodomy and abortion as perfectly acceptable — not to mention the fact that almost 75% do not believe in the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist.

For a priest or a bishop to ignore the wounded souls of the majority of his sheep can be likened to the priest in the Parable of the Good Samaritan, who saw the man bleeding and left for dead and chose to ignore him. Just think of how many souls might be converted if bishops, priests, and the Catholic laity stopped being afraid and had the courage to be half as vocal as our opponents. Yet we aren’t, because we’re afraid of people not liking us, we’re afraid of offending, and we’re afraid of pushing the nominal Catholics away from the faith completely.

My husband and I recently had to struggle through all these fears when we were asked to attend a family member’s “wedding” who was attempting to marry someone who had been married twice before. We love these two people very much, yet we could not justify going to their ceremony without knowing that the previous marriages or attempts at marriage had been declared null.

My husband and I decided we could not go to the ceremony. I came across the story of the rich man in Mark 10:17–31. After pondering this passage, I realised that even though there was the possibility of this couple losing interest in the Church, it was still our obligation before God to be honest with them about Church teaching and why we could not attend their ceremony.

Listen carefully to Jesus’s response after the rich man asks him what he must do to be saved and how the man reacted to it:

“Jesus, looking at him, loved him and said to him, ‘You are lacking in one thing. Go, sell what you have, and give to the poor and you will have treasure in Heaven; then come, follow me.’ At that statement his face fell, and he went away sad, for he had many possessions.”

(Mark 10:21–22) Notice that before Jesus tells the man the truth, it says: “Jesus looking at him, loved him and said to him …” We see here that it was love that caused Jesus to tell this young man something he did not want to hear. The reality of the young man having the freedom to walk away did not stop Jesus from telling him the hard truth about where he was spiritually. Jesus knew that he loved his wealth more than he loved Him and that his love of money was a road block to his salvation. As we can see in the following verse, the man does not accept Jesus’s invitation and chooses love of money over love of God. If we want to show true mercy, we must do as Jesus, love and mercy incarnate, does: extend the cure, even when it might not be accepted.

At the end of the Parable of the Good Samaritan, Jesus instructs us to go and show the same kind of mercy as the Good Samaritan had shown

to his neighbour. To extend mercy or to be shown mercy in one’s life is not always easy, because it will bear the marks of Christ crucified.

Jesus didn’t rise from the dead without being crucified and dying first. God’s mercy is in purifying us to be like Him, and we aren’t going to become like Him if we do not follow in His footsteps. We too must die so that He may live and reign within our souls. This is the greatest act of mercy, and this is the same mercy that we must impart to our neighbours. To do otherwise is not mercy.

The Holy Catholic Church is, in fact, the greatest innkeeper of all time, for she imparts the fullness of truth and gives oil and wine to cleanse, bandage, and heal wounded souls through her sacraments, which impart true mercy. Let’s stop hiding the meaning of mercy and begin extending it to those inside and outside the Church. Let’s be real about who Jesus is and the mercy He desires to give us.

Catholic Education and the One Thing Necessary Sr Anne Marie Walsh S.O.L.T.

The greatest moment of our lives, and usually the one we are least prepared for, is the one in which, upon leaving this world and entering the next, we will find ourselves face-to-face with God. In a real sense, we will judge ourselves in the presence of His pure goodness, love, beauty, light, and truth. And we will immediately know where we belong.

environment which encouraged it, continually and spontaneously made these connections in music class, maths class, science studies, geography, etc. It didn’t matter.

They quite easily saw: “Middle C is just like Jesus. He’s the centre to everything!” Or, “no matter what you are doing, God the Father looks into your heart to see if His Son is there!”

Our judgment will occur in the context of two realities Jesus points to in the Gospel: how we have loved (I was hungry...) and how we have used the gifts God has given us. (Have we buried or hidden them under a bushel basket or used them to help build the Kingdom?) In the end, at this definitive moment, that’s what will matter.

The development of Catholic education, which in a real sense, began in the monasteries, gives us a fundamental key to understanding the direction Catholic education should have today. For the monks, the essentials were always the same: “the supreme good of knowing Christ Jesus” (Phil 3:8), in light of which all else is rubbish.

So how can we prepare so that this moment will be for us one of utter joy and anticipation? Enter the deepest purpose of Catholic education, which begins first and foremost in the home with the parents as the primary educators of their children. The ultimate goal of all Catholic education, whether in the home, school, Church, or out in the world, is to prepare us to, one day, see God face-to-face, having helped us to recognise and fulfil our own personal destiny in God’s great plan for mankind!

Even the most mundane subjects are meant, ultimately, to serve this goal, for everything that exists and that we interact with here has its connection to God, and either reveals something about Him directly or something about what He has created and why.

The establishment of monastic communities was therefore ordered to a life that was conducive to the finding of God and to living out a covenantal relationship with Him. The biblical principles by which the monks lived and their deep study and contemplation of the mysteries of God in creation, started to leaven the chaos around them, so that time, learning, art, science, music, animal husbandry, farming, care of the poor, all began to be marked by the laws and light which God Himself had put into creation. An order and a fruitfulness developed that had heavenly origins. The bells announcing the call to prayer, which punctuated each day, and the liturgical seasons with their abundance of solemnities, feasts, and even the rich Gospel lessons of ordinary time, made the meaning of life, one’s responsibilities, one’s destiny, readily understood.

It is important to note that Monasticism did not begin as an attempt to create a new culture or civilisation. The holy men and women of early times were interested in the one thing necessary. The impact upon the surrounding environs was entirely in accord with the words of Christ: “Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given you besides.”

(Matthew 6:33) Catholic education should be a response to the loss of this vision.

We live in a time that has known Christ and now rejects him. We cannot wonder that man no longer understands himself. Apart from Christ, it is not possible.

The Christ-life within is still the essential thing amid the contemporary bombardment of the inessential and our own growing barbarism. With authentic education, children begin to become (not in a forced way, but a supernaturally natural development), little Christs touching the world in the activities of their child- hood and adolescence. In adulthood, as they grow into the full measure of the mature Christ, they are meant to move into all the realms of human activity: intellectual, physical, scientific, academic, artistic, apostolic, spiritual, etc. and to be, even greater leaven as they take their places in the world.

Non-Whites Can Be Racist Too Christopher Monckton of Brenchley

The rioting mobs who have been smashing Catholic churches and statues know very little history. They know nothing of how the Holy See was the only State in Europe openly to oppose Nazism as early as 1937.

They seem unaware that the world’s largest religious denomination has far more non-Whites than Whites as members. Above all, they have never read the Parable of the Good Samaritan, an earthly story with a heavenly meaning: all lives matter and, therefore, everyone is our neighbour, whom we are bound to love.

The Parable of the Good Samaritan “A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.

But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him, And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.

Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves? And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.” (Luke 10: 30-37) I become daily more ashamed of Cambridge University, my alma mater, and in particular of my college, Churchill College. One of the dons there is Priyamvada Gopal, a professor of – wait for it – “colonial and postcolonial literature and theory”. This egregious nonsubject comes under the general heading of what Jordan Peterson has rightly characterised as “grievance studies”, which relentlessly infect the minds of the young with subMarxist, anti-Western “it’s-allyour-fault” propaganda disguised as though it were learning.

On June 22, at five minutes to midnight, Gopal posted on Twitter this remarkably injudicious comment: “I’ll say it again. White Lives Don’t Matter. As white lives.”

In case you find this story as unbelievable as I do, I have shown an image of this openly, in-yourface racist tweet.

Gopal followed it with another tweet, this time saying, “Abolish whiteness.”

If she were a real professor of a real subject, she would surely know that remarks of this kind are calculated to cause outrage and offence, and not only among her White targets.

At present, unpleasant and dangerous totalitarian forces are viciously exploiting, amplifying and exacerbating racial differences in pursuit of objectives that would not be of the least interest – still less benefit – to ethnic minorities. Gopal has wilfully inflamed the situation.

When those rioters, looters, iconoclasts and racists band together to break the criminal law, the correct response is not to stand by and watch, as the police in Bristol did when the thugs smashed the statue of a local benefactor and flung it into the harbour, but to haul the offenders in front of the courts.

Which is exactly what ought to happen to Gopal. For she has acted in breach of the Communications Act 2003, which forbids the use of electronic media to disseminate racial hatred. On the face of things, she has committed a serious, imprisonable, criminal offence – one for which, if she is found guilty, she should be locked up for a very long time.

However, the police have attended so many diversity workshops that they are blind to any racial crime committed by anyone who is not White. For decades they allowed a notorious Muslim paedophile ring to continue in operation in the English midlands. Because the predators were not White, they were left untouched to do their worst.

the ground that his attacks on the hard Left in academe would be unwelcome, it has issued a fatuous statement to the effect that Gopal was merely exercising her right – or, rather, her Left – to free speech.

Oh, and it has promoted her to a full professorship. The Left looks after its own.

This outrageous double standard has also been evident in the reporting of the riots and lootings by the near-unanimously far-Left news media. In the United States, the very same MSNBCs and CNNs that condemned young people for flocking to the beaches, on the ground that they were in breach of lockdown, praised the rioters and looters, who were no less in flagrant breach of the social-distancing rules.

The Church has the answer to this dilemma, in just three words. Thou.

Shalt. Love.

Regrettably, the responses of several terrified White people to the unspeakable Gopal’s tweets were full of offensive, racist remarks.

Cambridge police are investigating them (though they are not, of course, investigating Gopal, for she is not White – the double standard again.

It is becoming ever clearer that, just as in Russia before the revolution or Germany before Nazism, the farLeft totalitarians have turned nasty.

They are full of hate.

Our first response must be to love them back. As Virgil wrote, Omnia vincit amor. Love conquers all.

Then, since we must also love the victims of their violence, and of the hatred expressed in Gopal’s disgraceful tweets, we must urge the police to prosecute the offenders, regardless of their degree of ancestral suntan or of obeisance to the racialist doctrines of Karl Marx.

Finally, until the University of Cambridge roots out racism among its professorial ranks, and until it allows non-Marxists such as Dr Peterson as well as the likes of Gopal to speak on campus without the no-platforming that is now one of the Left’s most powerful weapons against the truth, not a penny will it get from me. I have cut it out of my will – and I am by no means the only one.

Inconvenient History -The Barbary Slave Trade And the Founding of the US Marine Corps Robert Davis

Ohio State University history Professor Robert Davis describes the White Slave Trade as minimised by most modern historians in his book Christian Slaves, Muslim Masters: White Slavery in the Mediterranean, the Barbary Coast and Italy, 1500–1800 (Palgrave Macmillan).

Davis estimates that 1 million to 1.25 million white Christian Europeans were enslaved in North Africa, from the beginning of the 16th century to the middle of the 18th, by slave traders from Tunis, Algiers, and Tripoli alone (these numbers do not include the European people which were enslaved by Morocco and by other raiders and traders of the Mediterranean Sea coast), 16thand 17th-century customs statistics suggest that Istanbul’s additional slave import from the Black Sea may have totalled around 2.5 million from 1450 to 1700. The markets declined after the loss of the Barbary Wars and finally ended in the 1830s, when the region was conquered by France.

Hundreds of thousands of Europeans were captured by Barbary pirates and sold as slaves in North Africa and the Ottoman Empire between the 16th and 19th centuries. These slave raids were conducted largely

by Arabs and Berbers rather than Ottoman Turks. However, during the height of the Barbary slave trade in the 16th and 17th centuries, the Barbary states were subject to Ottoman jurisdiction and ruled by Ottoman pashas.

Furthermore, many slaves captured by the Barbary corsairs were sold eastward into Ottoman territories before, during, and after Barbary’s period of Ottoman rule.

The Barbary Muslim pirates kidnapped Europeans from ships in North Africa’s coastal waters (Barbary Coast). They also attacked and pillaged the Atlantic coastal fishing villages and town in Europe, enslaving the inhabitants.

White Slaves Villages and towns on the coast of Italy, Spain, Portugal and France were the hardest hit. Muslim slave-raiders also seized people as far afield as Britain, Ireland and Iceland.

In 1544, the island of Ischia off Naples was ransacked, taking 4,000 inhabitants prisoners, while some 9,000 inhabitants of Lipari Island off the north coast of Sicily were enslaved.

Parenting Roadshow - Back On The Road Just before the Covid-19 lock-down we were touring Ireland with a presentation alerting parents to the dangers posed to their children by the promotion of the LGBT agenda in schools. The presentation consists of three basic parts.

• Part One: shows how the LGBT ideologists have infiltrated many global organisations, including some dicasteries in the Vatican.

• Part Two: shows examples, including videos, of the types of programmes that are being developed in accordance with the World Hearth Organisation Sex Education Guidelines. Many parents will be shocked by this part of the presentation which gives examples from around the world and also includes a section with some examples of what is happening in Ireland.

• Part Three: looks at the role of Catholic Parents and outlines the duties and responsibilities of Catholic parents with suggestions as to how to strengthen your Faith life in order to be able to meet the challenges of rearing children in 2020s Ireland.

We are happy to host this presentation in small groups of from six to twenty parents, either in peoples homes or in other small venues.

Given the formation of the new government and the worrying choices of Ministers in the Departments of Children and Education, and with a very strong LGBT emphasis in the new programme for government - it is vital that we get this message out to as many parents as possible to encourage and to give hope to Catholic parents.

Somewhere Under The Rainbow Flag What Does It Really Stand For? Peter Keating

It has become a colossus.

A monolith.

A shibboleth that dare not be questioned.

It has become the air we breathe, the water we drink, the food we eat, the goods and services we pay for, the television we watch, the radio we listen to, and the technology and social media we use. It is a flag of government, local government, your bank, health service, and public library.

It is the flag of the education of your children. Children are the prime targets of the pseudo-

liberal agenda, because naturally it is through their indoctrination that future societal change can be most easily effected.

A colourful symbol which has always been attractive to children was chosen not by accident, but by carefully calculated design.

The rainbow has traditionally always been a symbol of goodness, happiness, positivity, and hope.

It is used by the pseudo-liberal agenda to reinforce in children the association of these positive messages with what it now really stands for.

So, what does the rainbow flag really stand for?

Flags are political and territorial symbols. The rainbow flag is a militant political symbol of neomarxist pseudo-liberalism. It purports to represent unity, but in fact it doesn’t seek to unite our common humanity, but to emphasise our differences. It is a flag of divisive identity politics and groupthink.

It replaces objective truth with subjective truth.

It preaches diversity yet demands conformity.

It is anti-Christian.

It speaks of the future, yet is antifamily and pro-abortion.

It is pro-euthanasia. It purports to give a voice to the vulnerable, yet seeks to silence the old.

Permanently.

It is a flag of intolerance. It cannot and will not tolerate any dissenting voice that challenges its narrative.

It stands not only for the death of Freedom of Speech, but also for the death of Freedom of Thought.

It stands for the sexualisation of children and the robbery of their innocence.

This all-pervasive symbol was a cuckoo that became a Trojan Horse that became a wolf in sheep’s clothing. It is a flag of pseudo-liberal oppression, but it is the flag of your future... if you choose to accept it.

The Devil Is At Work In This Time Of Pandemic, But Still The Grace Of God Abounds Fr. Serafino M. Lanzetta

The devil doesn’t sleep. He is always at work; and sometimes we forget that his intelligent and covert actions aim to make us forget our souls.

And in this particularly strange phase of our lives where we are coming out of the so-called lockdown, with the possibility of returning to church and finally receiving the sacraments, albeit with all the bureaucracy that we have to comply with, we realise that there is something that isn’t right, something that threatens our existence as Christians. There is something that makes us understand the truth of the existence of the devil and his very astute and intelligent actions that, in a covert way, try to prevent us from reaching the critical objective which is our eternal salvation, by means of the reception of the sacraments.

The salvation of the soul is central to our faith and this seems to have been buried underneath so much bureaucracy and compliance to the point where it seems we can no

longer speak about this because we are busy with more urgent matters.

It’s the most important thing and yet the most neglected. Taking away kneelers is more important than receiving Communion while kneeling and on the tongue as the Church has always taught. For reasons of hygiene and health Communion must be received in the hand, being not guaranteed as the safest way, and even though this contravenes the teaching of the Church. Communion in the hand remains an ‘indult’ – a permission given that can never be imposed against the universal law of the Church.

In all this horizontal and human view, we have of the Church, there is no room for the concept of eternal salvation. And it’s here that we see the malice of the devil, the snare of the devil. Hence, is salvation something important, still current or is it something to do away with along with many other things that are important but secondary? We have lost sight of the centre of our

faith – Jesus in the Holy Eucharist and our eternal salvation. We must return to this central focus and try to brush up on the advice of St Peter who wrote to the Christians exhorting them to remain strong in the faith.

We can clearly detect an absence of faith, because none of this would be conceivable, there could not be this type of revolution in which the health of the body is more important than the health of the immortal soul, were it not for a lack of faith. When we bury the faith, the devil wades in. He carries on his seduction of souls, completely undisturbed so that he can do what he wants without us even realising it.

It seems to me that we need to reflect on this a lot because sometimes we have an idea of the devil, either that we ignore him because we are too materialistic or we see him everywhere blaming everything on him. These two opposite ways of undermining the evil action of satan are beautifully described in

17th July 2020 Catholic Voice the book by CS Lewis entitled The Screwtape Letters. These are a series of letters from a senior devil to an apprentice devil on how to learn the art of seduction, the art of ruining the souls. In this insightful work, Lewis tells us this: “There are two ways which please the devil and permit him to follow his malicious activity undisturbed.

These two ways are materialism and magic. Materialism because it is man who in fact says that the devil doesn’t exist which allows the devil to carry on his work undisturbed; also those in a sort of magic attribute everything to the devil, every bad thing that happens, so inflating his presence in the world, end up with giving the devil importance in everything and therefore allow him to carry on his work undisturbed.”

In conclusion, I refer once again to the Screwtape Letters by quoting a small section which is very appropriate in our current times, reflecting on these actions of the devil and how to conquer his subversive action. In a passage in

the book, the senior devil named Screwtape is speaking to his young apprentice colleague Wormwood and says: “The humans live in time but our Enemy destines them to eternity.

He therefore, I believe, wants them to attend chiefly to two things, to eternity itself and to that point of time which they call the Present.

For the Present is the point at which time touches eternity. Of the present moment, and of it only, humans have an experience analogous to the experience which our Enemy has of reality as a whole; in it alone freedom and actuality are offered them.”

This is a very significant passage.

God wants us for eternity, but in order to think about eternity we need to treasure the present moment. In the Gospel, Jesus teaches us that every day brings its own sorrows (cf. Mt 6:34). We need to focus on the present, as the past has gone, the future hasn’t yet arrived. We have to live in the present moment with a view to eternity. And it’s actually this present moment that

resembles eternity, because eternity is a present that doesn’t end – a present that remains. If we want to save our soul and understand the cunning intelligence of the devil, we should look at the present, we should live in the present moment and so live fully in such a way as to give consent to our soul to set out each day with the grace of God and to be able to make our way slowly to eternity. We have to think of, we have to understand the present to be able to not lose eternity.

Let’s open our eyes and live the present with the grace of God in a way to interpret the present. The present that we are living right now, all this story of Coronavirus is however a very special present in which the devil wades in but it is also a moment of grace. We need to recognise the diabolical dimensions of today and the stubbornness that unfortunately characterises it, so as to understand how urgent it is to open our minds to the things of God, to believe in Him in order to see Him in eternity. If we waste time, i.e., if lose this present, we lose eternity.

REFLECTIONS ON THE ABORTION ISSUE IN IRELAND:

Prayer to St Michael the Archangel O Glorious Archangel St. Michael, Prince of the heavenly host, be our defense in the terrible warfare which we carry on against principalities and powers, against the rulers of this world of darkness, and spirits of evil.

Come to the aid of man, whom God created immortal, made in His own image and likeness, and redeemed at a great price from the tyranny of the devil.

Fight this day the battle of the Lord, together with the holy angels, as already thou hast fought the leader of the proud angels, Lucifer, and his apostate host, who were powerless to resist Thee, nor was there place for them any longer in heaven. That cruel, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil or Satan, who seduces the whole world, was cast into the abyss with his angels.

Behold, this primeval enemy and slayer of men has taken courage. Transformed into an angel of light, he wanders about with all the multitude of wicked spirits, invading the earth in order to blot out the name of God and of His Christ, to seize upon, slay and cast into eternal perdition souls destined for the crown of eternal glory.

This wicked dragon pours out, as a most impure flood, the venom of his malice on men; his depraved mind, corrupt heart, his spirit of lying, impiety, blasphemy, his pestilential breath of impurity and of every vice and iniquity.

These most crafty enemies have filled and inebriated with gall and bitterness the Church, the Spouse of the Immaculate Lamb, and have laid impious hands on her most sacred possessions.

In the Holy Place itself, where has been set up the See of the most holy Peter and the Chair of Truth for the light of the world, they have raised the throne of their abominable impiety, with the iniquitous design that when the Pastor has been struck, the sheep may be scattered.

Arise then, O invincible Prince, bring help against the attacks of the lost spirits to the people of God, and give them the victory.

They venerate Thee as their protector and patron; in Thee Holy Church glories as her defense against the malicious power of hell; to Thee has God entrusted the souls of men to be established in heavenly beatitude.

Oh, pray to the God of peace that He may put Satan under our feet, so far conquered that he may no longer be able to hold men in captivity and harm the Church.

Offer our prayers in the sight of the Most High, so that they may quickly conciliate the mercies of the Lord; and beating down the dragon, the ancient serpent who is the devil and Satan, do Thou again make him captive in the abyss, that he may no longer seduce the nations. Amen.

V. Behold the Cross of the Lord; be scattered, hostile powers.

V. Let Thy mercies be upon us, O Lord R. As we have hoped in Thee.

V. O Lord, hear my prayer.

R. And let my cry come unto Thee LET US PRAY God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, we call upon Thy holy name, and we humbly implore Thy clemency, that by the intercession of Mary, ever Virgin Immaculate and our Mother, and of the glorious Archangel St. Michael, Thou wouldst deign to help us against Satan and all other unclean spirits, who wander about the world for the injury of the human race and the ruin of souls.
