WELCOME It is an honor to welcome you to the 2020 Trojan Saint Award ceremony, celebrating the spiritual, intellectual and service-based impact of the Catholic Trojan community. We celebrate this event to support our student programs such as our homeless ministry, spiritual and professional mentoring, retreats and Bible studies, while continuing to provide a home-away-from home where all are welcome! Tonight, we gather virtually to honor this year’s Trojan Saint and dear friend, Kevin A. Shannon. The Trojan Saint Award honors those who have given themselves wholeheartedly to the service of others while faithfully bearing witness to the importance of faith in one’s life. Kevin has embodied the spirit of a Trojan Saint throughout his life - in his work, in his family, and in his friendships. His leadership as our Advisory Board Member and his commitment to our students and our university is unparalleled. His love for his Catholic faith is an inspiration for our students and for each and every one of us. Please join us tonight in congratulating him on this special recognition. I am grateful for your generous support of this celebration, especially during these most challenging times. Thank you for your investment in the lives of our USC students. We are honored to recognize Kevin A. Shannon ‘81 this evening with the 2020 Trojan Saint Award. We are blessed by his generosity, leadership, and being an ambassador for our Catholic Trojan Family. Kevin joined our Advisory Board in 2011, and is passionate about the mission of the USC Caruso Catholic Center and Our Savior Parish. As many of you know, Kevin, co-head of capital markets for Newmark Knight Frank, and his team, have brokered some of the largest office sales in the Western United States for many years. Kevin’s professional affiliations include: Industrial and Office Park Development Council (Silver Flight), Urban Land Institute (ULI) Executive Committee, and the USC Lusk Center for Real Estate. Some of his personal affiliations include: Advisory Board Member at USC Caruso Catholic Center, supporter for the Missionary Sisters in Central America, and Board of Directors, Catholic Big Brothers, Big Sisters. Kevin and his lovely wife Britta are the proud parents of four children: The oldest, Patrick, is currently attending USC. Their Catholic faith and love for USC are unparalleled. Kevin truly is a Trojan Saint! When Fr. Richard Sunwoo asked Kevin to be this year’s honoree, he joyfully welcomed the opportunity to share the good work and mission of the Caruso Catholic Center with his family, friends, and peers. It is our distinct pleasure to recognize this inspiring Catholic Trojan leader for his example of faith, service and legacy at USC.
