Letter From Our Pastor, Fr. Rob My Dear Parish Family, In 1899, Fr. Cornelius Enders, along with the help of local parishioners, completed the church that we attend today. Due to growth over the years, there have been many changes to the structure. Over time, it has been updated, enhanced, remodeled, and expanded. And now, we have once again been growing and growing, with new local housing developments slated for decades to come. Now, more than a century after the founding of our church, St. Scholastica Catholic Church continues to serve the Erie community. In my time as your pastor, I have witnessed Christ at work in our parish community and I know He has guided this community in the building of its rich history. I am blessed and privileged to have the opportunity to be a part of all that is happening here at St. Scholastica. I am also deeply grateful to those individuals and families who have come before me to build the church that we enjoy today, and who have established the foundation of what we hope to pass on to future generations. After months of prayer, study, and consideration, the leadership of our parish has decided to move ahead with a new parish campus on Hwy. 52. Throughout the process of considering this historic step in our parish’s history, I have many times reflected on the Incarnation and how this central truth of our Catholic Faith is so deeply connected to this project. The ultimate sign of God’s revelation and God’s love for His people is the Incarnation — God becoming human in Jesus Christ. Our church is an extension of this as the mystical body of Christ and is at the heart of His earthly ministry. With a new church building and renovated meeting space, priest residence, and parish office, we will, at last, have a proper home for Christ’s earthly ministry, ensuring the faith life of our parish family today and for generations to come. Our new campus will provide a proper worship space for our parish to gather for Mass, furnish a place for the community to gather in larger numbers, ensure our children have space to learn about the faith, and, finally, provide for parish staff and clergy a place to carry out their daily duties. With the theme, Our New Parish Campus, Building Our Foundation For The Future, we are launching an ambitious $____________ campaign. The information in this brochure explains the exciting details of this project. I understand this campaign is a serious and important challenge. All of us must pray for the success of this campaign, lend our many God-given talents to its completion, and make a financial sacrifice on all our parts to make it happen. Thank you for all you have done to make St. Scholastica such an incredible parish community, as well as for your generosity in this endeavor.

Overview of the Project The Vision that Ignites Us The Needs The current church building was completed over a century ago, and in the years since, it has met the basic needs of our parish. However, as with any small church in a growing community, we have outgrown our worship space. The Erie community continues to grow, and therefore, we must grow with it. Because our current property is landlocked, there is no way for us to bloom where we're planted. We must move to a new property. In addition to outgrowing our church building, our parish hall has also become inadequate to meet the needs of our community. Large parish gatherings are simply not possible, and our youth have insufficient classroom space for faith formation. Finally, anyone who has been to our parish offices knows they do not meet the needs of any parish staff. Converted from old houses, the space was never intended for business use and hampers our ability to work efficiently and serve our parish community.
The Solution A master plan has been developed for the property that was purchased last year on Hwy. 52. These plans provide for the future of our parish — not just for the next five to 10 years, but for the entire future of St. Scholastica Catholic Church. The first phase of the new campus, which we are starting now, is shown below.

New Church Building After careful consideration, the best approach is to build a new church building. With a planned seating size of 236, this worship space will serve the parish community as it grows from its current 225 households until it at least triples in size. A steel structure on the outside, the building will easily be converted for many types of use once the community outgrows it and a larger church is built in the future. With a beautiful altar, pews with aisles on both sides, a gathering space, choir loft, and interior restrooms, the structure will be the visible embodiment of St. Scholastic Catholic Church. 730 17th Street Suite 104 Denver, Colorado 80202

A1 Additionally, we plan to build a walk-out basement under the church, which eventually will become a parish hall. The new space will not only serve as an ideal place to gather for fellowship as a faith community after Mass, but also will be large enough to host other church services, activities, and events. When complete, the space will help create an environment that fosters community-building within the parish family.
Meeting Space The new meeting and formation building will consist of two large rooms and be used for a variety of meetings, formation, celebrations, and prayer. Once completed, the space will be split into classrooms for our youth religious education classes using temporary dividers. It will include two bathrooms, one for men and one for women.
Priest Residence & Parish Office A house on the property will be converted into modern parish offices, which is long overdue. The space will include a reception area, several offices for the pastor and staff, a small chapel, kitchen, and bathrooms. This new space will allow our staff to better serve the people of our parish. Above the parish offices is space for a parish priest to live. This residence includes an open floor plan, along with two bedrooms and bathrooms.

The Property With beautiful vistas of the mountains to the North and West, the property on Hwy. 52 will be a place of spiritual beauty for St. Scholastica Catholic Church. As the community of Erie grows, St. Scholastica can grow right with it. Providing space for a larger church when needed, larger meetings and space, and, God willing, a parochial school, this property is the perfect place for the Lord to take us where He wants us to go.
The Costs A larger parish campus has been on the minds and hearts of our parish leadership teams for many years. This past year, a building team looked into what it would take to make it happen. The group met with several Architectural and Engineering firms and took bids on the project. After careful consideration, we have finalized our plan to administer the project, and we are now ready to begin Growing in Faith, Building Our Foundation for the Future. The goal of our capital campaign is to raise $________ over a 5-year pledge period. This, combined with (selling the rectory for $______________, selling some or all of the current church buildings which will bring in $_____________, and using some of our savings in the amount of $__________,) brings the total cost of the project to around $________________. Ultimately, this campaign is not just about money or buildings; it is about God’s people. It is about how can we be fruitful and grow our community, to serve the mission set forth by the people of St. Scholastica Catholic Church.

To follow Jesus Christ and His Church in obedience to His command: “Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.” (Mt 28:19) Grounded in the eternal love of the Most Holy Trinity, we evangelize the people of Erie Colorado, revealing the Kingdom of God on earth as it is in heaven!
To follow Jesus Christ and His Church in obedience...
Our new church building will provide our worship space where our Christian community gathers to encounter the living Christ. Within these walls, we hear the Word of God, we offer intercession and praise to Him, and above all, we celebrate the holy mysteries. Here we're prepared and fortified to go into the mission field.
His command: “Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.” (Mt 28:19)
Through the guidance of the Spirit of the Lord, we will walk humbly with God as His disciples. At our new campus, we will be equipped to go out into our surrounding community to share the Gospel through evangelization and service. We will live out our call to stewardship, giving our lives to the Lord as we humbly become the hands and feet of Christ.
Grounded in the eternal love of the Most Holy Trinity, we evangelize the people of Erie Colorado, revealing the Kingdom of God on earth as it is in heaven! To best evangelize, our community must work together. Our new campus will become a place where we can connect with people and deepen our faith together. As important as it is to connect, it is just as important to make people feel wanted, loved, and welcomed — to give parishioners and visitors a sense of belonging. We hope it will provide a more hospitable and welcoming space to allow our parishioners to have a greater appreciation for one another and fulfill what we are called to do as the Church. We envision our parish coming together after liturgies in fellowship, allowing parishioners to gather after Masses with other members of our faith community.

Our New Parish Campus How Can I/We Support the Church Renovation Campaign? Make a Five-Year Financial Pledge There are many ways for us to raise the money needed for this project, but no matter what method is utilized, we are reliant upon the generosity — the good stewardship — of you, the people of the parish. We strongly urge you to consider an ongoing gift over the five-year life of the campaign. There is no way we can achieve our goal with one-time gifts, although all gifts are very important. We are grateful for all sacrifices, regardless of the size and scope of the gift. A pledge to a campaign like this is not legally binding; it is merely a statement of your faith and intentions.
What can I use to make a pledge? Pledges can be made with cash, check, or a credit/debit card. Complete the pledge card, making sure to indicate both the method of payment, as well as the time frame for the payment (monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, annually). You will be sent payment reminders following the payment schedule you select.
Do you accept gifts of property, life insurance, or annuities? Yes, we can work with you on the ways to give using those resources. Contact the parish office for more information.
What about gifts of stock and securities? This type of gift is possible. If you wish to make a gift of stock or securities, contact the parish office for information and to make the necessary arrangements.
Please keep in mind the two facets of giving: ffertory O Your weekly or regular contribution to the parish collection is just as important now as ever. Please do not deduct from that to make a gift to the campaign. Our New Parish Campus, Building Our Foundation for the Future Campaign Commitments and payments to the campaign are in addition to your regular offertory contributions. Gifts to the campaign are restricted to the goals and purposes of this particular campaign.
