tewardship isn’t a “program” or a fundraising effort. It’s not a one-year experiment. It’s a commitment to a lifestyle of Christian discipleship. The Catechism of the Catholic Church tells us that discipleship is, “the common vocation of all Christ's disciples, a vocation to holiness and to the mission of evangelizing the world” (CCC, 1533). When we commit to lives of stewardship, we are saying that we are going to take the gifts that God has given us — our time, our talents and our treasure, and use them to grow in holiness and to share the love of God with everyone we meet. God asks us to be His hands and feet to those we encounter. Will you follow where He leads?
Stewardship is using our time, talent, and treasure to build God’s Kingdom.
STEWARDSHIP
I
n common language, “stewardship” simply means taking good care of one’s belongings. But at St. Patrick's Parish, when we talk about stewardship, we mean something more than that. As Christians, we believe that we don’t really own anything, per se. God has created all things — everything we “own” is really “on loan” from God. From this perspective, then, stewardship means taking care of God’s gifts — and using them for His purposes.

MAKING TIME FOR PRAYER
M
any of us know that it is important to pray, but what is prayer and how do we do it? According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church, prayer is “the raising of one's mind and heart to God or the requesting of good things from God.” As Christians, each of us is encouraged to make time for doing this every day. It is through prayer that we receive the peace that can only be found in doing God’s will. There are many ways to practice prayer, and each one connects us to God in a unique way.
Action Steps to Improve Your Prayer Life
• Make a plan to spend 15 minutes every morning in quiet prayer by reading and reflecting on Sacred Scripture. A helpful place to start is the readings for each day, found at usccb.org/bible/readings or on Catholic phone and tablet apps, such as iBreviary, Magnificat or Divine Office. • Thank God for the good things He has given you that you might take for granted throughout the day. “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in • Examine your conscience before going to sleep and say an act of all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in contrition like we do at Mass. STEWARDSHIP OF TALENT BEING AN ACTIVE SERVANT
E
very week, our parish is buzzing with activity. There are groups that pray together, groups that minister to other parishioners, and groups that reach out to the community. Christ Himself taught us that “whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me” (Matthew 25:40). When we lay down our wants and desires to serve each other, God blesses our efforts! Will you consider where God is calling you to serve Him?
Action Steps to Become More Active in Service
• Pray about how the gifts God has given you can best be used to serve others. • Use your Commitment Card to find a parish ministry that will help you grow personally in living out your faith. • Commit to being faithful to God through those you serve in word and deed.

STEWARDSHIP OF TREASURE CONSISTENT AND GENEROUS GIVING
O
ur deepest reason for giving is not because our parish has needs, but because we have a spiritual need to give. We are called to give to God from our first fruits, and to recognize that everything comes from Him. Our gifts to God should be out of faith and gratitude for what God has done for us. Just like the apostles who laid down their nets the moment that Jesus called them, we too should lay down everything, even something as important to us as our finances, to follow Christ. God’s promise to us is a promise of life and security when we place all of our trust in Him. “The Lord will be with you and will never fail you or forsake you. So do not fear or be dismayed” (Deuteronomy 31:8).
Take a Step Toward 10 Percent
At St. Patrick's Parish we honor the scriptural tithe. We invite parishioners to give 5% of their gross income to God through the offertory, 1% to the diocese and 4% to other charities. Using the chart, find your current percentage of giving, then determine what steps you can take toward giving 10% of your household income. Consider increasing your gift by 1% or 2% increments until you reach the scriptural tithe and be faithful to your commitment, whatever it may be.
Action Steps to Be Financially Generous
• Pray about the best use of your financial resources and ask God to show you where you need to give Him priority in them. • Evaluate your regular offertory gift and increase it based on what you think God is calling you to give until you reach the full scriptural tithe. • Make a commitment to give regularly to God through the parish offertory, and be faithful to your tithing commitment, even when you attend Mass elsewhere.

2021 MINISTRY CATALOG HOSPITALITY:
We extend a warm, hospitable, and loving welcome to all who join us in worship, service, study, social gatherings or in times of personal need. We assist our parish community in presenting a visible sign of Christ’s loving kindness in all we do.
Circle of Friends
If you are a single adult who finds yourself alone and don’t care to go solo to dine, see movies or plays, travel, etc. then you are welcome to join our Circle of Friends. We are a ministry banded together to enjoy each other in Christian fellowship. We meet once a month on the last Wednesday at St. Cecilia's Center at 6 p.m. for a potluck dinner to enjoy each other’s company and plan future activities.

A parish group that seeks to provide opportunities for all members of the parish to build a community of faith outside of the liturgy. This will include organizing and facilitating events of food, fellowship, and fun! Some examples are helping with Donut Sunday, the Parish Picnic, and other family centered events.

Greeters
Greeters welcome parishioners attending Saturday evening and Sunday morning Masses. If you like to share your smile and warm greetings, then this ministry is for you!
Helping Hands
This ministry helps Father and supports social events of the parish, such as receptions for funerals and confirmation, deanery dinners, priests’ suppers, as well as other social events where Father may need assistance.

Senior outreach volunteers provide companionship for homebound elderly parishioners who have minimum contact with others. We can arrange for weekly visits and phone calls.

A parish welcoming group for newcomers and all parishioners. There will be events and get-togethers to acquaint you with each other, the parish activities and its ministries. This is a new and evolving ministry, and questions, suggestions, comments and volunteers are welcome.

PRAYER:
We grow as disciples who are committed to prayer — individual and communal prayer, public and private prayer. Through prayer we are invited to draw closer to Jesus and to imitate Him in our daily lives. While Eucharist is central to our spiritual life, other prayer opportunities are made available.
Altar Ministry
Volunteers manage linens for the altar, credence and ambo tables; provide fresh flowers; set up, create and change banners and frontals to reflect Liturgical Calendar and special Masses; change and order candles.

Culture of Life
The Culture of Life Ministry's mission is to foster dignity of all human life from conception through natural death by promoting respect of life with love, compassion and hope through prayer, education and community involvement.

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion
Eucharistic Ministers are trained to handle with reverence the consecrated Body and precious Blood for distribution during Mass. They usually serve 1-3 times a month at Masses of their choice.

Lectors
Lectors proclaim the first and second Scriptural texts for each Sunday and Holy Day and lead the congregation in the prayers of the faithful.

The most important purpose of this ministry is to fulfill the Spiritual Work of Mercy to pray for the living and the dead, and to fulfill the Corporal Work of Mercy to bury the dead. We are also here to assist Father and the family in preparing for a funeral and to be flexible to their needs.

Music Ministry
All who are interested in singing are welcome — join us for a rehearsal to try it out! Being able to read music is not required. Adult choirs sing at the 7:30, 9 and 11 a.m. Masses on Sunday and at other liturgical celebrations as needed. A children’s choir and a teen/young adult choir sing once a month at the 9 and 11 a.m. Masses. Rehearsals meet in the church on Thursdays at 5 p.m. for the 7:30, 9 and 11 a.m. Masses and at 6 p.m. for the Spanish Mass.
Mary bringing Jesus into the home. Mary leads us in closer union with her Son, Jesus. She prepares the family or individual for the Enthronement of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, which is made on the day the statue is picked up. The Enthronement restores a renewed devotion to the Heart of Jesus and proclaims Jesus as the King of their family.

Prayer Warriors is a group of dedicated members who pray for the needs of people who request prayers. These requests can be, but are not limited to, prayers for healing from injuries (physical or emotional), anxiety over upcoming surgeries, those sick and dying, grown children returning to the Church, or whatever help is needed. Pilgrim Virgin of Fatima Home Visitation with Enthronement of the Sacred Heart
Rosary Group
Children’s choir rehearsal is Wednesdays at 3:15-4:15 p.m. in the music room at Mt. St. Mary’s school. The children’s choir is open to all children who are able to read. Teen choir meets an hour before the 11 a.m. Mass on the day they sing. Additional practices are scheduled as needed.
The purpose is to spread the message of Fatima. The statue is brought into the home, where it is left for several days during which time a Rosary is prayed daily. The statue represents

Secular Franciscans
This canonically established fraternity within the Franciscan order prays together and studies Scripture and the works of St. Francis. Meets the second Tuesday at 7 p.m.

FORMATION:
Children, teens and adults in the parish and the school are offered opportunities to be formed and encouraged in the stewardship way of life. As a response to God’s call, all formation in stewardship is a preparation into a full and active life in the Church as disciples of Jesus. As a parish we continually seek ways to live more fully the life of stewardship with a loving, generous and grateful heart.
Adult Faith Formation
Opportunities to deepen your relationship with Jesus and learn more about our Catholic faith are offered throughout the year. Day and evening sessions are offered on a variety of topics including Catholic spirituality, prayer and Bible study. Group leaders, hospitality and phone calling are just a few of the many ways to get involved. Friends, neighbors and non-Catholics are always welcome!

An adult Bible study that meets weekly to study the books of the Old or New Testament. Sessions are held in the morning and evenings, September to May. All parishioners and their friends are welcome. Opening Doors for Persons Who Have Developmental Disabilities or Special Needs
A faith formation ministry for teens and adults with special needs and developmental disabilities. We focus on the love of God shown to us through stories from the Bible, the lives of the saints, the Sacraments and the Mass, and prepare participants to receive the Sacraments. Prison Ministry
As a jail minister, we assist those that are incarcerated. We help them by fostering a spiritual relationship with God through Scripture, prayer and group discussion using the teachings and morals of Jesus Christ. “When I was in prison you visited me” (Matthew 25:36).

In consultation with the pastor, the faith formation team provides the foundation for adults, teens and children to deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ in the sacramental life of the Church and through providing various opportunities for parishioners to continue in a lifelong process of growing in knowledge of their Catholic faith.
