STEWARDSHIP,

A Path to Holiness Jesus wants us to be happy and He wants us to be holy. In fact, holiness is required of every baptized Christian. The good news is that holiness is within our reach and a holy life is a happy life — the deep and lasting kind of “happy” that only our Lord can give. So, what is this holiness we are called to attain? It is nothing less than the call to sainthood, living our whole lives in and through Christ, and reflecting His love and goodness everywhere we go. In his Apostolic Letter, On the Call for Holiness in our Modern World, Pope Francis encourages us by speaking of the “saints next door.” When we think of holiness we need not think only of those already-canonized saints. Rather, he says, “I like to contemplate the holiness present in the patience of God’s people: In their daily perseverance, I see the holiness of the Church militant. A holiness found in our next-door neighbors, the middle class of holiness.”

At St. Isidore Catholic Church, Stewardship is the path to this holiness our Lord asks of us. And our Annual Renewal is a grace-filled time to set ourselves once again on this path that will make us saints. Through a stewardship way of life, we allow Christ to permeate every aspect of our being. We invite the Holy Spirit to direct us in the use of all that the Father has given us — our Time, our Talent, and our Treasure.

A stewardship way of life is a holy way of life and it leads us to the happiness we were made for.

TIME

Sacred Moments Prayer and the sacraments are food for the journey to holiness. We simply can’t be saints without them! Through them we obtain the grace and daily direction we need from our Lord for holy living. By committing Time for prayer and sacraments, we pause and give back to God a portion of this most precious gift of Time — especially now in our fastpaced world. Yet it is we who are truly blessed by the giving of this gift.

After time spent with God, my next priority of time should be for my family and friends, whom I am called to love and serve most intimately.

• T ry reflecting each morning on the daily readings of the Catholic Church (found at usccb.org/bible/readings) to ask God what He wants to teach you in the day ahead. This can also be found in our bulletin and in “The Word Among Us” with commentary.

• T ake a moment to pray in your car on the way to or from work, offering your cares and your gratitude to the Lord. This is also a good time to pray the Rosary.

• A s a family, give each member a chance to say a “please,” “thank you” and “I’m sorry” prayer to God at the end of the day. End with an Our Father and Hail Mary.

• I n addition to Sunday Mass, make Sunday dinner a priority as a time to reconnect with loved ones before the start of a busy week.

• A t the end of the day use The Prayer Process by Matthew Kelly for a daily examination of conscience.

TALENT

Sacred Service During this moment of Renewal, think about the talents the Lord has given you and your family. In gratitude, ask Him how you can use those talents to become the “saints next door,” loving others as He has first loved you.

• S pend some time prayerfully reading the ministry catalog to consider an area of service that will truly stretch you or an area where you can provide a real strength.

• I f you are already involved in one ministry, pray about an additional way you might serve. For instance, if you are involved in assisting with the Liturgy in some way, volunteer in an outreach to the community.

• I f you are not active in a prayer or faith formation group, join one to learn how to better love and follow our Lord and His teachings.

TREASURE

Sacred Spending

Just as Time and Talents are gifts from God, so too, are material things, or Treasure. And just as our Time and Talents are meant to be used for our growth in holiness, the way we spend our treasure can also lead us to holiness. Does this mean we serve a “greedy” God, who wants to give, and then take back what He gives? Of course not! Anything He asks us to do is meant to make us happy in Him. Returning a portion of our treasure to the Lord teaches us to depend on Him and brings a peace and contentment the world cannot give. Will you take a leap of faith to try it and see for yourself?

• T ake a look at your current budget and spending habits and assess what expenses are preventing you from giving more selflessly.

• C onsider the tithe — giving 10% of your financial income to the Church or the work of Jesus. Remember Malachi 3:10: “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse,… and try me in this, says the Lord of hosts: Shall I not open for you the floodgates of heaven, to pour down blessing upon you without measure?”

ENTREGA, UN CAMINO A LA SANTIDAD Renovacion de Entrega 2020

ENTREGA, Un Camino a la Santidad Jesús quiere que seamos felices y quiere que seamos santos. De hecho, se requiere santidad de cada cristiano bautizado. La buena noticia es que la santidad está a nuestro alcance y que una vida santa es una vida feliz, la clase de “felicidad” profunda y duradera que solo nuestro Señor puede dar. Entonces, ¿qué es esta santidad que estamos llamados a alcanzar? Es nada menos que el llamado a la santidad, viviendo toda nuestra vida en Cristo y a través de él, y reflejando su amor y bondad donde quiera que vayamos. En su Carta Apostólica, Sobre el llamado a la santidad en nuestro mundo moderno, el Papa Francisco nos alienta al hablar de los “santos de al lado.” Cuando pensamos en la santidad, no necesitamos pensar solamente en aquellos santos ya canonizados.

Más bien, dice: “Me gusta contemplar el presente de santidad en la paciencia del pueblo de Dios: en su perseverancia diaria, veo la santidad de la Iglesia militante. Una santidad encontrada en nuestros vecinos de al lado, la clase media de santidad.”

En la Iglesia Católica de San Isidro la Entrega es el camino a esta santidad que nuestro Señor nos pide. Y nuestra Renovación Anual es un tiempo lleno de gracia para establecernos una vez más en este camino que nos hará santos. A través de una forma de vida de Entrega, permitimos que Cristo impregne cada aspecto de nuestro ser. Invitamos al Espíritu Santo a dirigirnos en el uso de todo lo que el Padre nos ha dado: nuestro Tiempo, nuestro Talento y nuestro Tesoro. Una forma de vida de Entrega es una forma de vida santa y nos lleva a la felicidad para la que fuimos hechos.

TIEMPO

Momentos Sagrados La oración y los sacramentos son alimento para el camino hacia la santidad. ¡Simplemente no podemos ser santos sin ellos! A través de ellos obtenemos la gracia y la dirección diaria que necesitamos de nuestro Señor para una vida santa. Al comprometer el tiempo para la oración y los sacramentos, hacemos una pausa y devolvemos a Dios una porción de este regalo más precioso del tiempo, especialmente ahora en nuestro mundo acelerado. Sin embargo, somos nosotros los verdaderamente bendecidos por la entrega de este regalo.

Después de pasar tiempo con Dios, mi siguiente prioridad de tiempo debería ser para mi familia y amigos, a quienes estoy llamado a amar y servir más íntimamente.

• I ntente reflexionar cada mañana sobre las lecturas diarias de la Iglesia Católica (que se encuentran en usccb.org/bible/readings) para preguntarle a Dios qué quiere enseñarle en este día por venir.

•T ómese un momento para rezar en su automóvil en el camino al trabajo o de regreso,, ofreciendo sus preocupaciones y su gratitud al Señor. Este es también un buen momento para rezar el rosario.

•C omo familia, dele a cada miembro la oportunidad de decir una oración de “por favor,” “gracias” y “lo siento” a Dios al final del día. Termine con un Padre Nuestro y un Ave María.

•A demás de la Misa dominical, convierta la cena dominical en una prioridad como un momento para reconectarse con sus seres queridos antes del inicio de una semana ocupada.

TALENTO

Servicio Sagrado Durante este momento de Renovación, piense en los talentos que el Señor le ha dado a usted y a su familia. En agradecimiento, preguntele cómo puede usar esos talentos para convertirse en los “santos de al lado,” amando a los demás como el nos ha amado primero.

• Dedique un tiempo a leer en oración el catálogo del ministerio para considerar un área de servicio que realmente lo estirará o un área donde puede proporcionar una fortaleza real.

• Si ya está involucrado en un ministerio, ore por una forma adicional en que pueda servir. Por ejemplo, si está involucrado en ayudar con la Liturgia de alguna manera, participe como voluntario en un contacto con la comunidad.

• Si no está activo en un grupo de oración o de formación de fe, únase a uno para aprender cómo amar mejor y seguir a nuestro Señor y Sus enseñanzas.

TESORO

Gasto Sagrado

Así como el Tiempo y los Talentos son regalos de Dios, también lo son las cosas materiales o el Tesoro. Y así como nuestro tiempo y talentos están destinados a ser utilizados para nuestro crecimiento en santidad, la forma en que gastamos nuestro tesoro también puede llevarnos a la santidad. ¿Significa esto que servimos a un Dios “codicioso,” que quiere dar, y luego recuperamos lo que Él da? ¡Por supuesto no! Todo lo que Él nos pide que hagamos es para hacernos felices en Él. Devolver una parte de nuestro tesoro al Señor nos enseña a depender de Él y trae una paz y satisfacción que el mundo no puede dar. ¿Tomarás un acto de fe para probarlo y ver por ti mismo?

•E che un vistazo a su presupuesto actual y sus hábitos de gasto y evalúe qué gastos le impiden brindar más desinteresadamente.

•C omo medio para crecer en santidad, comprométase a dar un porcentaje de sus ingresos a Dios a través del ofertorio parroquial y sea fiel a este compromiso, incluso cuando asista a la misa en otro lugar.
