About Catholic Owned

Catholic Owned exists to propagate Knowledge of, Devotion to, and Love & Admiration for the Immaculate Heart of Mary, in reparation for the many sins & blasphemies against her.

In practical terms, we are Building the New Catholic Economy.

Over time, our community members can make fewer compromises and be more free to pursue ever greater devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through the Immaculate Heart of Mary- what is known to be the sweetest path to sainthood.

from the desk of Monsignor

Dear friends of Catholic Owned,

Jesus said, “I AM THE WAY , THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE. NO ONE COMES TO THE FATHER EXCEPT THROUGH ME.” (John 14:6)

Over the past few years, we have heard or read a great deal from 'new-modernist' opinions about inclusion , dialogue and that all religions in one way or another lead people to God In the midst of the fog of confusions that people encounter nowadays, it is necessary that Catholics regain or renew the landmarks of our Faith

Our Lord is of course merciful and His mercy is available to all who accept the grace of repentance, mend their ways and obey His commandments. He said, "If you love me, you will keep my commandments." He has invited us to enter through the narrow gate... broad is the way that leads to destruction, straight is the way that leads to life.." (Mathew 7:13)

In John's Gospel 10:9, we read the words of Jesus: "I am the gate, if anyone enters through me, He will be saved "

The Magisterium has always taught that there is no salvation outside of Jesus and His Church "There is no salvation in any other man, for there is no other name under heaven given to men whereby we must be saved." (Acts 4:12)

In the Syllabus of Errors of December 1864, Pope Pius IX condemned a total of 80 propositions that the Holy Father considered to be serious errors or heresies. The Syllabus was intended to be a rebuttal of liberalism, modernism, moral relativism, socialism, secularization and political emancipation from the Catholic Tradition.

Among those heresies that were condemned was the proposition which stated that: "The Catholic religion should not be the only religion of the State "

Jesus founded His Church and gave Saint Peter the spiritual authority to shepherd His sheep. There is but one, holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church and we are saved by adhering to Jesus and to the doctrines proclaimed by the Magisterium of His Church. The Magisterium is the way the Holy Spirit guides us to God, the way to salvation, liberty and true freedom, such pertains to the essence of our Catholic religion.

We live through difficult times where there is much disorientation but Jesus Christ is our hope. This moment in history requires us to pray more fervently as Jesus prayed on Mount Olivet Saint Francis spent whole nights prayerfully repeating "my God and my all " May the saints intercede for us May the Mother of the Lord guide us and protect us from all evils

Blessings,

Fr. Oscar F Castaneda

Reflections from one Year

of catholic owned

On September 28, 2023, Catholic Owned launched as a humble digital magazine to 116 email subscribers and five business advertisers in South Florida.

As the founders, we were all in from the beginning. We had just returned from a pilgrimage in Italy with our four young children, and we were ready to say “yes” to this call, no matter what

Some may have doubted whether a digital magazine could grow into anything meaningful, and they probably would have doubted in good conscience

But, we are consecrated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, and all the work that we do at Catholic Owned is in reparation for the many sins and blasphemies against her

So, we knew that whatever work we would do was going to be used by Our Blessed Mother, and that continues to be our focus and strategy today.

As of this publishing, we have 2,606 email subscribers, 2,208 of which are registered Users of the Catholic Owned App. We feature 179 businesses in a wide variety of industries in multiple states across the country.

In these twelve months, we have learned profound lessons, worked harder than we knew was possible, and above all, have served souls in a way they have been desiring for a long time.

Some of the comments we get every single week:

“Thank you for the work you are doing for our community ”

“I’ve been wondering for a long time when someone was going to do this ”

“I always wished this existed!”

“Other communities have mastered this, I have always wondered when we Catholics would do the same ”

“It’s time for us to support each other-- FINALLY someone is taking this seriously.”

“How can I help? I want to be part of this!”

We originally published Catholic Owned Magazine every week, and included additional Catholic resources that were local to South Florida. As our business directory continued to grow, we realized the limitations of the digital magazine format. We knew an App was needed, so we invested heavily to bring the Catholic Owned App to life as quickly as possible.

The Catholic Owned App launched on April 25, 2024, just six months after the Magazine launched. This enabled us to serve Catholics beyond our immediate area, as people found us online and insisted on being part of this

Now, we publish the magazine bi-weekly, and most of the work we do is in the App

The Catholic Owned App is the easiest way to browse businesses, leave reviews, and refer your friends to the network If you haven’t yet, download the App today and use code MAGAZINE at signup

Since some people have asked, here are a few lessons that we have learned from this first year:

1) If we want to do anything in our business (and life), grow in holiness. It’s the only way we can discern where God is calling us. We kindly suggest total consecration to Jesus through Mary.

2) It takes courage to pursue radical obedience to the perfect will of the Father. Courage and radical obedience are absolutely worth cultivating.

3) God equips the called, and He is an artist. We have to allow the work He does through us to be the masterpiece, so the best thing we can do is get humble quickly and get out of the way.

We hope these lessons will help someone We humbly ask for your prayers as we begin our second year of this work of Building the New Catholic Economy

We also invite you to send us your feedback regularly, because this helps us more than you know Your opinion shapes the future of what we build, so just know that we care about every piece of feedback we receive

If you feel called to join us in any way, please reach out and let us know. You can contact us through the Catholic Owned App, via email, telephone, on LinkedIn or Instagram.

Thank you for being part of our first year at Catholic Owned--may God bless you!

Third in a Series of 20 Scriptural Decades from

Living in Imitation of Christ

A Scriptural Rosary about Men for Men

Christine Haapala’s 13th Scriptural Prayer book views the mysteries through the lives of some of the men who were part of salvation history and Jesus’ world.

Does a scriptural rosary about men for men necessarily mean that a Marian prayer will become less Marian? On the contrary, Mary always points to Jesus. Mary, infused with extraordinary humility,

will be guiding us to the foot of the Cross and through the gates of Heaven

Illustrations for each rosary mystery feature Servants of God, Venerables, Beati, and Saints These men answered the call to holiness and lived in imitation of Christ

“A prayer so easy and yet so rich deserves to be rediscovered Rediscover the Rosary in the light of Scripture, in harmony with the Liturgy, and in the context of your daily lives ”

Rosarium Virginis Mariae, 43, St Pope John Paul II, Oct 16, 2002 You can purchase the complete, pocket-sized version from her website:

VENERABLE PATRICK PEYTON, C.S.C.

Father Patrick Peyton envisioned every home to be a shrine to the Holy Family where the rosary would be prayed together. “A family that prays together stays together” became the crux of his global rosary rallies, billboards, and media productions. Known as the “Rosary Priest,” Father Peyton traveled the globe to meet people who had never heard nor experienced the power and beauty of the Rosary. He died with a rosary in his hands and the words, “Mary, My Queen, My Mother” on his lips.

Ultima verba

Sometimes people ask what the future and vision of Catholic Owned is. It’s a tough question to answer because there are so very many things we are working on. Plus, the plan isn’t exactly our idea. We know it is Building the New Catholic Economy-- but is that in the US? Is that global? The opportunity is vast. We know for sure that the bulk of the work is ahead of us. We also know that the Queen of Heaven and Earth is the leader of this company, so literally anything is possible. We also know that Catholics have had a hard time for a long time. So often we are forced or otherwise coerced into living our faith only in private. Whether buying health insurance, taking our kids to the pediatrician, or browsing Christmas catalogues from major retailers, the barrage of evil agendas is endless. So often, we have no choice on the matter-- the things we need to purchase for our families come from companies that are paying for abortions, vocally supporting the destruction of the family, and mocking Our Lord and Our Blessed Mother openly and without remorese.

And up until now, all we could do was pray for a change.

A quote that comes to mind often is this: “The most common way people give up their power is by thinking they don’t have any.”

As the largest religious group on the planet, we have a lot of buying power and a lot of influence. There’s no reason we should not be using that power to bring forth the values that we hold dear in the public sphere and the culture. The truth is, it’s okay for Catholics to support one another. It’s time for Catholics to stand together in a practical way, and keep the support going among Catholics before turning elsewhere. Catholic Owned is the tool for facilitating these connections that are at the core of driving cultural change.

We want to invite you to join us in this movement and browse the businesses we feature already. Reach out to them, see what they offer and buy what you need from them. Invite your friends to do the same. Come back whenever you need to buy something. Keep buying from Catholic Owned businesses. This is how you can help us in Building the New Catholic Economy, and we are humbled that you are here with us. May God bless you!
