Dear friends in Christ,

The apparitions of Our Blessed Virgin Mary in Fatima May 1917 concluded with Our Lady requesting for us to pray the rosary daily for peace and for the end of war.

At the present moment, humanity is facing wars again. Serious conflicts among nations have led to death and destruction. In our daily rosary, let us also include the innocent victims of the wars.

Other wars occur in the midst of families and are the product of spiritual battles that men and women experience within. Saint Paul says the battles are not physical but spiritual in Ephesians chapter 6.

As we pray for peace and the end of war with our rosary in our hands, please remember the great war Satan has against the dignity and sacredness of human life. Pray for the end of abortion, the end of euthanasia and all types of aggression against the gift of life from conception until a person takes his last breath called by our Creator.

Pray for the preservation, appreciation, and holiness of the Sacrament of marriage. Other forms of unions do not reflect God's plan nor his Divine Will. The saints teach us the humility of obedience to the truth as it is taught by the Magisterium of the Church and Sacred Tradition.

Mrs. Berquist shared, “First of all, as a Catholic I know that the Faith informs every aspect of life. I heard a sermon once in which the priest said you breathe differently because you are Catholic. I think that is true. Everything we do should be done with our true end in mind.

I tell my students, frequently, that this life is very short. However long it is, it is very short. Eternity, on the other hand, is very, very long. Eternity is our true home and everything we do needs to be done with that goal in mind.

Not only getting there, but, as St John Henry Cardinal Newman says, making ‘new hearts’ that are focused on the things of heaven. That way, when the time comes, we will be entering a familiar place ready to take up our life there.

Also, my faith helps me not to worry too much. We want to do what God wants and He often reveals His will through circumstances. So I try to just put those circumstances into His hands and see them as His will. That doesn’t mean I don’t plan or don’t respond to a new circumstance by encouraging it or addressing it. But it does mean that I see this is all in God’s hands, it is His plan, and His plan is perfect. If my plan is not His plan, then I need to change.”

Owner, Our Lady of Good Help Fertility Care Serving clients via telehealth

Providing the Creighton Model FertilityCare System as an effective and life-affirming way for single women and married couples to discover the truth of their reproductive health and embrace the gift of their fertility. As part of the program, married couples learn to identify their fertile and infertile days for either achieving or avoiding pregnancy. In addition, women and couples can also be referred to a Natural Procreative (NaPro) Technology Medical Consultant to treat reproductive health conditions and evaluate the underlying causes of infertility and miscarriage.

I teach the Creighton Model FertilityCare System, an evidence-based method of providing gynecological health education and charting menstrual cycles for women to monitor their fertility and for married couples to either achieve or avoid pregnancy. Once charting begins, I can refer, if needed, to Natural Procreative (NaPro) Technology Medical Consultants who can morally and effectively evaluate and treat reproductive health concerns identified on the chart.

I started this practice as a way to increase access to effective, life-affirming fertility care services. When I worked for the Archdiocese of Miami Respect Life Office, I counseled many pregnant women who were unsure of how their bodies worked, and, once they were postpartum, thought that contraception and sterilization were the only options, since their OBGYN offered these free with insurance. Though I counseled against it, my words made little difference to someone with free birth control pills or an already scheduled sterilization appointment. Therefore, my goal was to create a Catholic fertility care center where couples could receive accessible, effective, and life-affirming counseling, education, and care through a Catholic lens. That’s how I was inspired to start Our Lady of Good Help Fertility Care, after the only Marian approved apparition in the United States in Champion, Wisconsin.

The majority of my clients see me to achieve pregnancy. Therefore, my biggest impact has been with the infertility population which is rapidly increasing. I have several clients currently pregnant after experiencing infertility, pregnancy loss (miscarriage), or recurrent pregnancy loss

Besides achieving pregnancy, couples have also commented that this program has helped them grow in their spousal relationship, given them an intimate understanding of their body, and increased their confidence in the evaluation and maintenance of their own gynecological health.

I work with everyone regardless of ability to pay. This service is important for all women to understand their body and use their fertility for the glory of God. The education I give not only includes the science of fertility and how to read and record the signs of the woman’s body, but also the Catholic teaching on Periodic Abstinence and Infertility that the Church has handed down to us for our salvation. Our Lady of Good Help in her apparition said to the visionary, “Gather the children of this wild country and teach them what they need to know for salvation.” Therefore, I also encourage Marian devotion to all of my clients, especially through the Rosary.

My favorite devotion is Marian Devotion. St. Dominic said, “one day through the Rosary and the Scapular, Our Lady will save the world.” Later on when Our Lady introduced the Miraculous Medal to St. Catherine, the medal was also included in the trifecta: Rosary, Scapular, and Miraculous Medal. Saints devoted to the medal include St. Maximilian Kolbe and St. Mother Teresa. They witnessed radical conversions because of the medal. That’s why all of my clients receive a free handmade Rosary, made by my husband, and a Miraculous Medal for them to wear around the neck as Our Lady stipulated to St. Catherine. Consecrate yourselves to Mary. I tell everyone: place her first and God’s designs will be realized in your fertility and family.

Velocity Warehouse provides services to race car drivers and the occasional track day customer. For race car owners we store their race cars, we bring it to the track, we prep it before the race, we provide track support and coaching. For drivers without a car we have rentals, just arrive at the track. We also help those who want to get a racing license, we can help make a plan for that goal. Our shop also builds race cars. We work on any make and model but we specialize in Mazda MX5 Miata, RX7 and RX8.

What inspired you to start your business?

The parable of the talents inspired me to start my business. I had been a race car driver for about 25 years when I started my business and the work in my professional field, procurement, had slowed down. I had a racecar, a pick up and an open trailer. One day someone was looking to take their racecar to the track, so I did it for them. Another day I rented my car, I needed to find a way to replace some income , so I put two and two together and asked myself, “Why don’t I use my talents and resources that I already have?”

Can you share about the impact you have had on one or more of your clients?

My business is about relationships. Racing is a dangerous sport, the race car drivers have to have good communication with us when they are on the track and off and be focused. As a coach, I can tell when the driver is distracted. Sometimes I ask them or they just open up to me. I try to give the best possible Christian advice. I was able to help a young client in his twenties who was my customer for three years, improve his relationship with his parents. He would be very affected by the issues going on between him and both parents which were divorced. It was very moving to hear how the relationship between them had improved and he was more at peace.

How does your faith play a role in the operation of your business?

Being Catholic Christian helps keep me grounded and helps me run my business with charity, compassion and honesty. I always try to have a good attitude and practice charity and patience when someone renting my car breaks it or crashes in it, I’m honest and practice fairness in my prices. I try to understand the emotions or situations my customers are going through that affect their performance on the track and give them advice. I keep the atmosphere clean & family friendly.

Favorite saint, devotion, prayer or quote?

St Jude, for special needs! He is the to go guy. My wife and I go to bed listening to the rosary.

There is quote from the Bible related to my business which is sports/hobbies/fun. “Therefore, I commend enjoyment, since there is nothing better for a man under the sun than to eat and drink and be glad. This is his reward for his toil during the days of life that God grants him under the sun.”

Ecclesiastes 8:15. The verse speaks about enjoying what God has given us but also let us remember we will die and leave earth and take nothing, let us live accordingly so when we die , we do not go to hell.

The impact I have had on clients is usually a radiation of a solid work ethic and precise technique to carry out even the most basic tasks with precision.

How does your faith play a role in your business?

My faith creates a positive atmosphere that is usually contra to the standard stressful construction process.

My devotion to the Holy Spirit is a constant radiation of Christ's love in me.

I was looking for a way to provide truly prolife medical care that is medically sound, effective and morally acceptable.

Can you share about the impact you have had on one or more of your clients?

I have several patients who were told their only option to manage their menstrual cycle was birth control, teaching them a way to know and value their body is a great way to get healthier, treat any imbalance and feel better.

We are a concierge obstetrics practice, we come to your house for prenatal care We deliver our patients in Palm beach, Broward and Dade counties (hospital birth only.)

I offer personalized concierge prenatal care at home or on location (Miami, Ave Maria), generally my patients appreciate not having to drive to their prenatal appointment as well as knowing that their doctor assents to all the teachings of the Church.

I also exclusively practice NaProtechnology/Creighton Model.

How does your faith play a role in the operation of your business?

We have consecrated our operations to the Blessed Virgin Mary, we pray for all our patients and hope to be an example to any patient we interact with.

Favorite saint, devotion, prayer or quote?

My favorite saint is Saint Gianna Beretta Moya.

She was a pediatrician, who chose the life of her unborn baby over her own. She always said “whatever God wants” and strove to be an exemplary wife mother and doctor.

New Member Spotlight Lisa Murphy

Founder & CEO, Open Hearts for Orphans Delray Beach, FL serving worldwide

Open Hearts for Orphans is a ministry

of beauty created out of ashes. Jim & Lisa Murphy have adopted five precious children, and their love crossed oceans for all of them. They adopted their first daughter from China in 2006 as an infant, and their second child, Daniel, joined the Murphy family in January of 2010. He was a beautiful little two-year-old boy who had been living in a Chinese orphanage with a broken heart, yet he faced every obstacle with brave determination and a smile on his face.

After four months of embracing new life in the Murphy family, Daniel's heart surgery took place in May of that year, but much to their sadness, his body just couldn't recover from the open-heart surgery that he desperately needed, and he joined our eternal Father in Heaven. Daniel made a lasting imprint on many hearts in the community, and the Murphys are forever changed because of him.

Lisa knew the extent of the need. With over one hundred million orphaned or abandoned children scattered all over the globe, she couldn't pretend that the orphan crisis didn't exist or that she didn't know how to help, so Open Hearts for Orphans was born in 2016 in Daniel's memory. Open Hearts For Orphans Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization created to provide resources for orphaned and abandoned children around the world through medical intervention, meeting basic needs, and providing their "Say Yes" adoption grants to families in the process. To date, OHFO has issued over 120 adoption grants to families adopting children with special needs from twenty different countries, including the US. OHFO also provides advocacy through their ARISE for adoption program.

How does your faith play a role in the operations of your business?

The faith of our Board is ever present in this mission - as we pray for financial provision, and for the wisdom of partners on the .ground, and for those we serve alongside our partners, and for ways to reach more desperate humans. We are constantly seeking guidance, wisdom, and discernment from the Holy Spirit as we prayerfully say yes and fund the urgent needs that are brought to us. We trust God's promptings in all of it and believe that we are divinely guided in this mission.

"Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to care for orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world." ~James 1:27 Favorite saint, devotion, prayer, or quote: We look to St. Joseph - a patron for all adoptive parents. He is often referred to as the “foster father” of Jesus, and St. Joseph is the primest example of a saint who adopted a child that was not his biological son. And, James 1:27 is always present in our minds:

Based in Broward, Serving clients across Florida & beyond I came to Business Coaching after several decades in a corporate sales team. I enjoyed it a lot, but after a few cycles of being merged, acquired, bought, or sold, I lost track of what I was seeking. In parallel, my faith was getting stronger and playing a more central role in my life. The business world had helped me to go deep in understanding what my client wanted and learning to help them reach those goals. My faith was pulling me to discern what was my purpose in life and how this affected my day-to-day activity.

Adding these together, the “great resignation” during COVID was the ideal time to quit and do the 30-day Spiritual Exercises with my wife Rocio. After this discernment, I started a new cycle as an independent coach and enrolled at St. Thomas University on a Spiritual Direction certificate program.

Today, both my work and faith practice focus on going deep with my brothers and sisters, building trust, and creating a safe space where I can be there to witness how they multiply their God-given talents, or learn to find God’s voice.

A business owner wears many different

hats, but their most important job is to steer their company in the right direction and lead a successful team that will achieve those goals.

Sometimes these leaders face new challenges that take longer – or newer skills – to solve. The most common issues are about building a collaborative team, adjusting the sales process, managing time more effectively, or preparing for leadership changes.

As a business coach, I work with the business owner to clearly define where they want to go, where they are now, and following a roadmap to get there. We typically meet once a week for an hour, I send them reading/studying material, we review how this translates to their business, and focus on an action plan to implement these changes. Over a period of a few months, the business owner gradually gets back in the driver’s seat, is focused on setting direction, and runs a more self-sufficient operation.

15 Promises of the Rosary

L ast week we covered the first four promises that Our

Lady makes to each person who takes up the devotion of praying the Rosary. This week we examine three more-three that have special significance when considering Eternity.

5. The soul which recommends itself to me by the recitation of the Rosary shall not perish.

6. Those who recite my Rosary devoutly, applying themselves to the consideration of its sacred mysteries, shall never be conquered by misfortune. In His justice, God will not chastise them; nor shall they perish by an unprovided death, i.e., be unprepared for heaven. Sinners shall convert. The just shall persevere in grace and become worthy of eternal life.

7. Those who have a true devotion to the Rosary shall not die without the sacraments of the Church.

To perish is to suffer complete destruction or ruin. We can imagine how promise number five can apply to our souls.

This promise speaks to how the devotion of praying the Rosary can help prevent our souls from complete destruction or ruin-- that is, ultimate loss of Heaven. Of course it is not a promise of salvation, but it is a strong promise to avoid complete destruction of our souls. This builds on promise number three, regarding the destruction of vice and sin in the lives of those who take up the devotion. Together, these two bring us much closer to Heaven.

The sixth promise speaks to how this devotion can impact our day to day lives, as well as our eternal destination. Most of us would say we would prefer to “never be conquered by misfortune.” It is certainly a practical promise that anyone would appreciate. Going without God’s chastisement is also a generally positive outcome, assuming it is His Will. As St. Ambrose writes, “And I ardently desire to have Him as my Savior, Whom I am unable to withstand as my Judge.”

The sixth promise continues that sinners will convert. This is very connected to Our Lady of Fatima, who implores us to pray for poor sinners, many of whom have no one to pray for them.

The last part of the sixth promise is what we are all striving to do-- “to persevere in grace and become worthy of eternal life.” This is the most central goal of all Christian life.

The seventh promise is speaking about the moment of death, and promises that those devoted to the Holy Rosary will receive their sacraments, giving them the ordinary means of salvation. This is as close to a promise of salvation that we as Catholics can hear and believe.

May we persevere in growing in our devotion to the Rosary, so that we may realize the 15 Promises, and persevere towards our ultimate goal of Heaven.

“Jesus then said to the Twelve, “Do you also want to leave?”

Simon Peter answered him, “Master, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.” John 6:67-68 It can be challenging to hold fast to Our Lord in the face of the difficulties surrounding us. A quick listen to the news of the day is enough to bring you down, and that’s not even considering the specifics of each of our own battles each day. Illness, uncertainty, financial troubles, parenting and marriage difficulties, the list could go on and on.

In John chapter six, Our Lord had been teaching that He is the Bread of Life, given by God just like the manna that was given to their ancestors. He told them that His flesh and blood was true food and true drink. “Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day.”

And He meant it very literally. This was a difficult teaching to accept, and in fact many disciples left Him because they could not accept it.

So He asked the Twelve if they too would leave, even though He already knew the answer. We can imagine the scene easily. When things get messy, there are always those who just check out.

But Simon Peter answered, “Master, to whom shall we go?”

Doesn’t that question get right to the heart of the matter? Is there anywhere or anyone else who has “the words of eternal life?” And even though we know the answer, do our actions reflect this truth?

Often today we can easily be tempted by so many distractions, criticisms and concerns from our daily life and the latest news about the Church. Indeed, we the faithful suffer very much in these difficult times, alongside Our Lord and Our Lady who suffer far more.

We can turn to Our Lady for comfort, seeking refuge in her Immaculate Heart. We can also follow Our Lord just like St. Peter. He answered the question in the only way that each one of us must answer every day, especially when faced with a difficult teaching, or a difficult situation. To whom shall we go?
