Bringing Catholic Owned to Catholics across the country!
Dear friends of Catholic Owned, "Modernism" has been consistently condemned by the Magisterium of the Church as a heresy which is a threat and a perversion of the Catholic faith.
Paul VI after the Second Vatican Council announced that "Modernism is the most dangerous revolution the Church has ever had to face and it is still scourging her severely " He also suggested that Modernism's origins could be found in the philosophical movement known as the Enlightenment and in the philosophies around the time of the French Revolution.
Pope Saint Pius X was more specific about the genesis of Modernism He saw it in the epistemological system of the great Enlightenment philosopher Immanuel Kant. As some like me, who struggled through Seminary College philosophy, Kant's philosophy is somewhat obtuse and difficult, however it has been highly influential in the main strains of modern philosophy. At the heart of Kant's theory of knowledge is the thesis that we do not see the world as it is, but rather as our minds structure it for us. We can never know those things as they truly are in themselves [objectively], we can know them only subjectively
The Kantian thesis has become the foundation stone to modern philosophy and of the modernist heresy. It leads to the various forms of Pragmatism that dominate the philosophical and political thought of today It leads to the heresy condemned by Pius X in his Encyclical letter Pascendi Dominici Gregis in 1907, and also in Bl. Pius IX's Syllabus of Errors of 1846.
In a few words, the end result of Modernism is that the neo-modernist of today can in "good" conscience believe NONE of what an ordinary Catholic believes objectively speaking A person influenced by Modernism may choose to believe that Jesus was not born of a Virgin, that He did not have a bodily resurrection, that He is not divine nor that He is truly substantially present in
the Eucharist, etc. Despite these non beliefs many times those people remain active in the Church, while doing their best to subtly change the beliefs of the Magisterium.
In the serious crisis the Church is enduring today, we are called to remain faithful to the Truth and to our Tradition and values. Within our possibilities let us attend the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass each day and fervently pray the Holy Rosary. Blessings in the month of the Precious Blood of Our Lord.

Speaker & Author
As a licensed marriage and family therapist, I offer therapy sessions for individuals, couples, and families
While I can provide in-person sessions in Indianapolis, IN, I continue to add to the list of states where I’m licensed to provide virtual sessions (so please reach out to see if your state is on my list)! I also provide coaching based on my book Single Truth. For couples, I am trained in PREPARE/ENRICH, FOCUS/REFOCUS, SYMBIS (Save Your Marriage Before It Starts), and the Gottman Relationship Checkup I’m expanding my speaking opportunities and would be honored to share my message with your church, business, organization or event.
Through You Are More, LLC I bring faith to life and life to faith as I help individuals, couples, and families discover that they are not defined by their relationship status, job title, season in life, diagnosis, or any other box they feel stuck in I do this through counseling, speaking, and writing Ever since writing my book Single Truth: You are more than your relationship status, I wrote “You are more!” before every signature. When I received a nudge to leave group practice after 10 years, I felt inspired to expand this signature phrase into a full-time endeavor. Even if people do not work with me, I can encourage
them through the business name alone. Not only are we more than our labels that get us stuck, God is more than anything that we face.
I never imagined I would be single in my mid30’s, but because of that I have developed a passion to bring hope to those whose hearts ache in their single season Though I thoroughly enjoy working with couples and enriching relationship satisfaction, I find great purpose in connecting with the hearts of single people. In both types of sessions, I validate feelings and experiences while helping clients to discover the meaning in their story.
In addition to my MA in marriage and family therapy, I also hold an MA in Theology from Notre Dame via the Echo Program My experience of working in ministry informs the encounter I have with clients in the therapy room. Our hearts are restless until we rest in God and there’s a more qualified counselor than me in the room --- the Holy Spirit. The first words of my first counseling class were, “Be still and know that I am God.” I don’t have all the answers, but I can connect clients with the One who does Rarely do couples pray together so it’s been impactful for me to facilitate prayer in sessions to help them connect with God and one another more deeply.
St. Francis is my confirmation Saint and Assisi is one of my favorite places in the world. I get to take my fiancé there for our honeymoon later this year!
I’ve become more devoted to St. Joseph over the years and the 30 Day Prayer to St. Joseph never fails to astonish me!

Serving US Domestic and International clients
Using our unique and successful risk management process, we actively manage small and large investment portfolios using currencies, bonds, stocks, and commodities
The selection of the right portfolio manager can make a world of difference for individuals and families
Saul A Padilla brings a unique expertise to his clients, and the result is peace of mind for them regardless of current market conditions
Saul’s experience began with several years at two of the main investment bankers in the country and a large international bank It was there that he realized that “no one around me had the interests of my clients in mind. The industry is full of conflicts of interest that no one seems able or willing to fix.”
Following a thoughtful period of four years, he discerned, along with his wife and confessor priest to resign from his employer and start Greenwich Creek Capital Management.
Since 2008, Saul has been helping bring his clients peace of mind. He shared, “At the beginning of a new relationship, as you would expect, clients are nervous if the stock market is experiencing volatility However, as time goes by and they get accustomed to see little or manageable change in the net value of their accounts during bear market cycles, they become very calm and relaxed Giving them peace of mind in terms of their investment portfolios is our goal This is the impact we see across the board, not just on one or two clients ”
For Saul, the impact on his clients and the drive to serve them comes from a greater purpose. “I cannot separate faith and business. I cannot operate in a certain way on Sunday and differently M-F My faith plays a big role in the business and is what motivated me to start GCCM It was a call to put talent to work for the benefit of others ”
Indeed, we are called to use our talents for the greater glory of God Saul mentioned his favorite reading from Matthew 25:14-30, “The Parable of the Talents.” In addition to his years of experience and education, he credits the Grace of God with his ability to innovate his unique risk management process that has captured every bear and bull market that has ensued since starting his firm.
“There is no doubt in my mind that if I was able to develop a highly efficient risk management process, it was due to the Grace of God and not the help of my employers or my own talent Somehow, the right books and research material helped me put together the core of our risk management process, which was fine-tuned by a couple of talented and very faithful collaborators, my daughter and her husband ” In closing, Saul shared about his devotion to the Immaculate Heart. “My wife and I are devoted to the Immaculate Heart of Mary and pray together the holy Rosary daily. We are strong believers that She is the way to heaven and Jesus. We attend Sunday and day of obligation mass as well as daily whenever possible. The latter, more my wife than myself.”

“My favorite saint is St Andre Bessette He was the humble doorkeeper at a high school in Montreal. He put a statue of St. Joseph facing Mt. Fraternal
As an independent agent for the Catholic Order of Foresters, I help grow the faith by creating and executing fraternal outreach activities, while also helping protect the financial futures of Catholic families. I can do this all while transparently being truly Catholic in all my actions and deeds.
All of my work includes educational meetings with Catholics, aimed at helping them become financially bulletproof I pray before each meeting, asking the Holy Spirit to “reveal financial issues I can help with If there are none, please send me on to the next family “ This approach makes for a low pressure, high learning environment
With the Catholic Order of Foresters, the best quality and quantity of life insurance is within reach. In fact, in most cases, this peace-of-mind is available for less than what many will spend per week at the coffee shop. The impact on my clients is that they have peace of mind. Financial peace of mind for Catholic families who can rest assured that their spouse and children will not be impoverished if they were to pass away means they can focus on what’s important and be covered in case of disaster This is best illustrated with a simple math problem:
If one has a newborn in the home, that child will likely be living in that home about 20 years. That said, if someone is making $100K a year, if they died, to replace 20 years of lost income requires two million dollars
The life insurance policy would replace that lost income for the family In this example, we do not account for future potential increases for merit and inflation, though they are also worth considering.
The Catholic Order of Foresters makes this kind of coverage affordable for Catholic families As a non-profit fraternal benefit society, we exist ONLY for the purpose of serving our members. Because we have no shareholders to pay, we have some of the most affordable life insurance in the country for baptized Catholics and those married to them. COF doesn’t stop there
COF’s Investment Policy Statement mandates that the invested assets of the organization be managed in a manner that is consistent with the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church For devout Catholics, this makes a significant difference.
Not only is there peace of mind financially, but there’s also peace of conscience. Our clients enjoy the benefits of knowing their family is protected, and that the funds are being managed without even a remote participation in evil You can read more about our investing policy by clicking here. Taking our commitment to the Catholic community a step further, COF offers a special benefit in which 5% of the face value of the policy will be committed to the insured’s favorite Catholic charity upon their passing at no cost to the insured or their beneficiaries. These gifts can make a significant difference for the charities, and we have careful requirements to ensure the charities are authentically Catholic
In addition, we provide a variety of fraternal outreach to serve and care for the Catholic community Programs include scholarships for homeschool, grade school, high school and college students, mission trips for those aged 18-24, Adopt-A-Seminarian, and other year-round efforts to feed people spiritually, physically and mentally. Spirituality Tap Ins are special events where COF sends a Priest or Deacon into a bar or coffee shop to deliver an evangelistic talk to the public
Serving Catholics is all that we do at COF
Please consider an appointment with me today I would love to show how COF could benefit your family now and for years to come This assessment is free and resulting coverages could cost less than your weekly coffee. I look forward to meeting virtually or in person during one of my monthly visits to South Florida, where I enjoy family and serving Catholic friends all year round.

Do you practice the Five First Saturdays? What about the Nine First Fridays?
The two devotions arose at different times and in different ways, each with its own promises and graces
What I’d like to highlight in today’s article is the beautiful simplicity with which these two devotions can be practiced. This weekend, we have them both, and I want to encourage you to give them a try
The First Saturdays are done in reparation for the five core blasphemies against the Immaculate Heart of Mary. You simply complete these requirements on the First Saturday of the month for five months in a row.
1) Get a good confession
2) attend Mass
3) Receive Holy Communion in a State of Grace
4) Pray five decades of the Rosary
5) Spend 15 minutes keeping Our Lady company, meditating on one mystery of the Rosary. Most parishes have the perfect environment on a Saturday afternoon to accomplish all five elements in one trip to the church, which is especially convenient for families Here’s how it works: Pray the Rosary in the car on the way to the church. Arrive at the start of confessions, usually 3PM-4PM. While waiting, prepare for confession. Get your confession and then do your penance. There will usually be some time left before the Vigil
Mass, which is the perfect time to spend 15 minutes with Our Lady, and finish up the Rosary if you couldn’t in the car. Then, stay for Mass and receive Our Lord in the Eucharist. I’ve seen some families go for ice cream or dinner after, and I like that a lot.
It really is as simple as an hour and a half at the church With so many parishes all around us, and ALL of them having the Vigil and almost all have confessions on Saturday afternoons, it’s a very convenient devotion to practice.
One note is that I would consider this as a Mass only for the First Saturdays Devotion-- i.e. I would also attend Sunday Mass to fulfill that obligation. We joke that we don’t “double dip” but that’s up to you First Fridays are even simpler- the requirements are to attend Mass & receive the Eucharist in a state of grace, in reparation to the Sacred Heart. Some have added a Holy Hour or other prayers. Here is a list of great supplemental prayers you may like: PRAYERS
But, to fulfill, simple attend daily Mass Most parishes will have one in the morning on Friday, and many will add a Friday lunch time or evening Mass as well This is entirely possible for families and individuals in 2024. I hope this helps demystify the logistics of these devotions and encourages you to take them up for yourself.
I’ll save sharing the outpouring of graces we have received from practicing these for another day May God bless you!
St. Augustine of Hippo (354-430)
“Patience is the companion of Wisdom.”
St. Bernard of Clairvaux (1090-1153)
“The three most important virtues are humility, humility, and humility.”
July is the month of the Precious Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ. After the month of the Sacred Heart, we turn our eyes towards the Precious Blood that was sacrificed in our place Pope St Clement I wrote, “Let us fix our gaze on the Blood of Christ and realize how truly precious It is, seeing that It was poured out for our salvation and brought the grace of conversion to the whole world."
Blood was always a necessary part of the sacrifice, which can be easy to forget in modern times
We know that the blood of the lamb signified which children were not to be killed at the Passover And the Jews had to bring an animal to be sacrificed at the Temple, by the priest, for their sins, and the type and magnitude of the sin dictated the type of animal that needed to be sacrificed. It directly correlated to the value of that animal in the market This meant that dragging that animal to the temple to sacrifice was also publicly humbling And this was the only way for the Jews to reconcile with God for many years.
It seems so strange and foreign to us, but we must remember this, in the month of the Precious Blood. Our Lord poured out His own Precious Blood to fulfill
the Law and break open the gates of Heaven for us poor sinners.
May we also remember how high a price was paid-the extent to which He suffered must never be diminished or discounted in our minds and hearts He poured out His Precious Blood for you and for me, because He views us as precious. In His Sacred Heart, He was moved to mercy for us poor sinners, who just couldn’t get it right without Him under the old Law So, He took the form of a tiny baby in the womb of Our Blessed Mother, humbling Himself in all ways and in all things Science now shows us that some cells of the baby remain in the mother’s body for the rest of her life.
Just as we recognize every particle of the Eucharist as containing Our Lord fully, so too was He truly present in Our Blessed Mother for her entire earthly life after the Incarnation
His Precious Blood came from her body, and it was she who followed Him all the way to Calvary as His Blood was shed for us.
May we grow in devotion to the Precious Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ, drawing near to His Blessed Mother as our guide
