From the Desk of Monsignor
Dear friends of Catholic Owned,
During the Easter Season, the Church celebrates the Resurrection of Christ with special emphasis and solemnity during 50 consecutive days The whole liturgical life of the Church revolves around the Eucharistic sacrifice and the Sacraments.
"The Church affirms that for believers the sacraments of the New Covenant are necessary for salvation" (Council of Trent 1547) and "Sacramental grace" is the grace of the Holy Spirit given by Christ and proper to each Sacrament
During the Lord's day, the preeminent day for the liturgical assembly (Sunday), the faithful gather to listen to the word of God and take part in the Eucharist.
At the the Last Supper celebrated in the Upper Room, on the night He was betrayed, our Savior instituted the Eucharistic sacrifice of His Body and Blood. This He did in order to perpetuate the sacrifice of the cross
throughout the ages until He should come again. The Eucharist is therefore the source and summit of the Christian life. The faithful initially celebrated the Eucharist in people's homes (Acts 2:46-47), taking their food with gladness and simplicity of heart and of being of one heart and one soul. (Acts 4:32)
The phrase "breaking of Bread" mentioned in Acts 2:46 is because Jesus used this rite which was part of a Jewish meal, when the master of the table would bless, break and distribute the bread It was in this action that the disciples recognized Jesus after the Resurrection and it was also this expression that the first Christians used to designate their Eucharistic assemblies. It signified that all who ate from the "one broken bread which is Christ, entered into communion with Him and formed one body with Him, our Savior and the Lord (I Cor 10:16-17).
During the next few weeks, we will discuss how the whole Divine Liturgy finds its center and most intense expression in the celebration of the Eucharist It is in that sense that it is also called the Sacred Mystery The Eucharistic species reserved in the tabernacle after each Mass are called the "Most Blessed Sacrament because the Eucharist is the Sacrament of sacraments.” O Sacrament Most Holy, O Sacrament Divine, all praise and all thanksgiving be every moment thine. Amen

Roger BockwegAgent, Catholic Order of Foresters
Growing the faith through fraternal outreach activities
Keeping Catholic families financially bulletproof with Catholic life insurance & annuities
As an independent agent for the Catholic Order of Foresters, I help grow the faith by creating and executing fraternal outreach activities, while also helping protect the financial futures of Catholic families. I can do this all while transparently being truly Catholic in all my actions and deeds.
All of my work includes educational meetings with Catholics, aimed at helping them become financially bulletproof I pray before each meeting, asking the Holy Spirit to “reveal financial issues I can help with If there are none, please send me on to the next family “ This approach makes for a low pressure, high learning environment
With the Catholic Order of Foresters, the best quality and quantity of life insurance is within reach. In fact, in most cases, this peace-of-mind is available for less than what many will spend per week at the coffee shop. The impact on my clients is that they have peace of mind. Financial peace of mind for Catholic families who can rest assured that their spouse and children will not be impoverished if they were to pass away means they can focus on what’s important and be covered in case of disaster This is best illustrated with a simple math problem:
If one has a newborn in the home, that child will likely be living in that home about 20 years. That said, if someone is making $100K a year, if they died, to replace 20 years of lost income requires two million dollars
The life insurance policy would replace that lost income for the family In this example, we do not account for future potential increases for merit and inflation, though they are also worth considering.

The Catholic Order of Foresters makes this kind of coverage affordable for Catholic families As a non-profit fraternal benefit society, we exist ONLY for the purpose of serving our members. Because we have no shareholders to pay, we have some of the most affordable life insurance in the country for baptized Catholics and those married to them. COF doesn’t stop there
COF’s Investment Policy Statement mandates that the invested assets of the organization be managed in a manner that is consistent with the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church For devout Catholics, this makes a significant difference.
Not only is there peace of mind financially, but there’s also peace of conscience. Our clients enjoy the benefits of knowing their family is protected, and that the funds are being managed without even a remote participation in evil You can read more about our investing policy by clicking here. Taking our commitment to the Catholic community a step further, COF offers a special benefit in which 5% of the face value of the policy will be committed to the insured’s favorite Catholic charity upon their passing at no cost to the insured or their beneficiaries. These gifts can make a significant difference for the charities, and we have careful requirements to ensure the charities are authentically Catholic
In addition, we provide a variety of fraternal outreach to serve and care for the Catholic community Programs include scholarships for homeschool, grade school, high school and college students, mission trips for those aged 18-24, Adopt-A-Seminarian, and other year-round efforts to feed people spiritually, physically and mentally. Spirituality Tap Ins are special events where COF sends a Priest or Deacon into a bar or coffee shop to deliver an evangelistic talk to the public
Serving Catholics is all that we do at COF
Please consider an appointment with me today I would love to show how COF could benefit your family now and for years to come This assessment is free and resulting coverages could cost less than your weekly coffee. I look forward to meeting virtually or in person during one of my monthly visits to South Florida, where I enjoy family and serving Catholic friends all year round.

Renee Smith, M.S. CCC-SLP
Owner & Pediatric Speech Therapist, Grace Therapy Solutions
Serving Children via Telehealth throughout Florida
Helping Children to: communicate functionally advocate for their individual needs improve academic achievement connect socially with peers, family & friends
Grace Therapy Solutions provides virtual speech and language services to children with communication needs all throughout Florida. Parents often struggle to keep up with children and family members’ appointments, sports, hobbies, etc. This makes teletherapy a convenient option for families who want to participate in their child’s speech and language therapy sessions from the comfort of their own home!
As a daughter of immigrants, the importance of hard work was instilled in me as a child. My parents encouraged me to, not only follow my passions, but to find a way to make my passions work for me Upon entering the field of speech-language pathology, I knew that I wanted to someday have my own private practice In 2022, I married my husband who is in the military and moved away from my childhood home in Florida to live in North Carolina With my husband’s job causing him to spend so much time away from home, and with our first baby on the way, I realized that I needed to find a way to stay home while still contributing income to our household. That’s what inspired me to make my private practice virtual- so that I can be a stay-athome mom and still live out my passion of helping children improve their communication skills. Throughout my career as a speech therapist, I have worked with children of all ages who have various types of disabilities that might affect their communication, i.e. Language Disorders, Speech Sound Disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Sound
Disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Emotional Behavior Disorders, Learning Disabilities, etc. The treatment I provide as a speech therapist is individually tailored to each client’s needs, therefore positively impacting the ability to communicate functionally, advocate for his or her wants/needs, improve academic achievement, and connect socially with peers So far as a speech therapist, I have helped dozens of children master their speech and language goals and graduate from speech therapy, being able to say all speech sounds correctly, perform at grade/age level in language arts, and communicate functionally with family and friends
I learned how to integrate my faith in my work by following the example of my mother, Gizel Abdallah. She worked for over 20 years as a Church Music Director and Music Teacher, and is currently doing so at All Saints Catholic Church and School in Sunrise, Florida. At 8 years old, I started singing with my mother in the church, whether it was as part of the school choir or as a cantor at weekend Masses, and continued singing at Masses with her as an adult. She set the ultimate example of how to use the gifts that God has blessed you with to glorify Him in return. I recognize that God has blessed me with the gift to be able to help children with communication needs So it is my duty to be able to share this gift with families
My Catholic faith also inspired the name of my practice – Grace Therapy Solutions As Catholics we know that the only real solution to any of our problems, difficulties or obstacles in life lies in offering them all up to the Lord because he is the Ultimate Solution And we are only granted solutions through His loving grace God’s grace is healing
Throughout my career I have prayed for the grace to be patient and loving during trying times. And I am constantly giving grace to my clients who struggle daily to communicate, and to parents who might be juggling countless responsibilities.
Growing up with a musical mom, our favorite saint was always St. Cecilia. She is the patron saint of music and musicians, mainly singers. She used her voice to worship and glorify God. As a speech therapist, I like to think that my helping children to use their voice is glorification to God as well.

Floriani Sacred Music
Nonprofit Revitalizing Sacred Music in America
Floriani Sacred Music is dedicated to serving the Church and saving the culture through the beauty of sacred music. We believe in the power of Sacred Beauty to awaken and deepen a desire for Christ and His Church
By singing for liturgies, performing educational concerts, and teaching, both in person and remotely with our online course, Gregorian Chant Academy, and our Chant School Podcast, we introduce people of all musical backgrounds to the Church’s rich heritage of liturgical music. Giorgio Navarini founded Floriani originally as a barbershop group as a student at Thomas Aquinas College, where he met Thomas, Joe and Graham, each of whom sang in his choir at different times. Eventually, they moved on from barbershop to sacred music, and realized it was this which they truly loved to sing Years later, after
they’d all long graduated, they reconnected, quit their jobs, and moved to Arizona to begin Floriani as a non-profit men’s vocal ensemble with a mission to revitalize sacred music throughout the world
Floriani is proud to have taught and developed a devoted children’s choir in Phoenix, AZ for almost three years These young choristers have proved to be a remarkable testimony to the accessibility of sacred
music, as they have grown so proficient as to perform, often while conducting themselves, for Masses, weddings and concerts. The choristers’ own love for sacred music is infectious to those who hear them, almost inevitably moving the heart and soul of the listener
In the Vatican II document, “Sacrosanctum Concilium,” sacred music is said to be “a treasure of inestimable value, greater than that of any other art ” Our mission is to inspire a renaissance of sacred beauty through the music of the Church, whereby hearts might be able to encounter Christ, the Source of Beauty.
St Florian is our patron, from whom we take our name He is Giorgio’s Confirmation saint, and is attributed by Giorgio to have saved him from nearly drowning Giorgio did not know when he chose him as his saint that St Florian is the patron of drowning victims!
Our favorite quote would be the one mentioned above from Sacrosanctum Concilium, as it establishes the preeminence of sacred music, as an art, in the liturgy

The Fund for Vocations
Nonprofit Unlocking Vocations Nationwide
Studies show that around 1/3 of those who want to makes vows as priests, friars and sisters are unable to due to student loans, since candidates must be debt-free to enter formation The Fund for Vocations eliminates the obstacle of student loan debt so that no vocation is lost.
By actively working to alleviate the debt burden for candidates, we have opened the door for over 300 future religious, and are actively supporting members of almost 100 traditional communities, including Dominicans, CFRs, Sisters of Life, Benedictines, ICKSP, and so many more. When a young Catholic is accepted to formation with a traditional religious order but cannot enter because of their student loans, we make their monthly payments out of a donation-based fund. We keep paying on a monthly basis until they take their final vows, after which we pay off the remainder within five years. If they discern out, they simply pick up where we left off.
The Fund for Vocations started as a mom-andpop apostolate of Corey and Katherine Huber, two very generous and faithful Catholics. They discovered a huge cause of the vocations crisis to be the burden of student loan debts. Most orders will not even allow someone to enter formation with loans. They created a fund out of which to award grants to young Catholics to support a new generation of religious. When they received a flood of applications, they expanded and fundraised to create a 501(c)3.
Many of our grant recipients would attest that they would not have been able to become religious without our help One Mercedarian sister, Sr Yvelyne Marie, HMSS, wrote, “I am beyond grateful for your support, not only financially but spiritually I would not be a Religious today, if not for you
Thank you so much for your immense generosity and sacrifice May the Lord reward you and grant you many blessings You are in my prayers and have a very special place in my heart God bless you!!”
Our Catholic Faith is at the absolute center of everything we do Our donors are inspired to give because they understand the importance of making the Church a light for the world, and the crucial role that Catholic religious play in that effort We are changing the world and renewing a Christ-centered, vibrant Catholic culture by enabling passionate young religious to do God’s will
Our nonprofit is very streamlined and has only two full time employees Mary Radford, our executive director, has a quote in her email signature from St Catherine of Siena: “If you are what you should be, you will set the world on fire!” Our communications director, Elizabeth Latham has one from St Ambrose: “It is not enough just to wish well; we must also do well ” Both are deeply devoted Catholics in love with their faith

A Personal Reflection on The Holy Name of God
How many Catholics do you know who are constantly taking the name of Our Lord in vain?
Whether in an exclamation of shock, a joyful expression of surprise, or in total disbelief at what they have just heard, the habit of blurting out, “oh my --” is shockingly common amongst “those who call themselves His friends ”
Is it possible that you have also made this a habit in your day-to-day life?
We know it isn’t just us Catholics who engage in this behavior, as the three letter abbreviation has become a common response to just about any message or news in today’s world And the use of the full name of Our Lord, Jesus Christ as an expletive has reached unbearable heights in the mainstream culture
Combined with other vulgar language and themes, entertainment today has become everything that is against God and is misused in what is supposed to be a comedic or otherwise entertaining format
I was listening to a Fr Ripperger talk last week on the Sensus Fidelium channel and one thing that he shared has been on my mind since He shared a brief story that I will paraphrase here: If a husband were to watch a video in which someone was making fun of his wife and laughed at it, his wife would rightfully be offended If he continued to watch that same video repeatedly, knowing that the content was at the expense of his wife’s dignity, and continued to laugh every time he watched it, he would be hurting her every time he chose to watch that video and laugh along with it Their relationship would suffer real harm as a result
It is easy for us to see how this could lead to material harm in a marriage, because it is in human terms we can all understand. Fr. Ripperger went on to explain that this is exactly the same as us choosing to consume entertainment that makes a mockery of God and all that He is.
Whether it is a film we have seen before, or a content creator that we know uses foul language, electing to re-watch over and over again is akin to the husband offending his wife over and over. It’s hurtful to God when we choose to fill our time with entertainment that glorifies the taking of His Holy Name in vain, other profanities, and the indulgence in a plethora of sinful acts that the mainstream
culture deems acceptable It does real harm to our souls and faculties too
By consuming this kind of content regularly, not only are we contributing to the demand for it, but we are offending God We are choosing to be entertained by evil and laugh in His Holy Face while indulging our lower faculties
We can ask ourselves, is the content gossip, designed to create division or drama, or is it somehow disrespectful to another person who is made in the image and likeness of God? Even some Catholic sources fall into some of these categories and are best avoided for the sake of our souls and for the love of God and His Church In other cases, it could be that the creator of the content is living a sinful lifestyle, but isn’t creating necessarily inappropriate content We could ask ourselves, is that someone we should be supporting?
I understand that this is a tough realization, as I continue to wrestle with it myself It is uncomfortable, leaves one wondering what is okay for entertainment, and can even leave one with feelings of despair After all, we can’t only consume religious content, and it will vary based on the state and stage of life of each person
One suggestion in closing is to begin this discernment with the reading of this commandment, and asking oneself if the content one consumes is violating it If so, it could mean it’s time to make the courageous decision to leave that content behind, under the careful guidance of one’s spiritual director
“Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain: for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that shall take the name of the Lord his God in vain ” -Exodus 20:7

Ultima Verba
Fides intrepida, meaning, ‘Daring Faith’ is what we are called to in this life
Would you describe your faith as daring?
The concept is easier for some than it is for others to adopt and to live out. Some would argue it is easier for zealous converts, while others would argue that the lifetime graces of being raised in the one true Faith produce it. Still others would be inclined to claim that tradition versus modern practice in our faith is the deciding factor. In reality, God can use any poor sinner He chooses to be radically faithful. So we can ask, how can this look in our lives today?
In many cases, it is a call to do more for the love of God and souls. It is a ‘yes’ in response to the Holy Spirit speaking interiorly to our souls We have the option to ignore it, since God wants our complete ‘yes,’ but we are wise to heed this call Perhaps it is a calling to speak out for the unborn, to attend events and hear the stories of the survivors and lost ones to this incredible evil It could be a calling to volunteer with the RCIA/OCIA program at your local parish and to
help usher in more souls to the one true Church God may be asking you to take up the vocation that you have so long delayed in embracing, as He has waited patiently at the door of your heart He could be calling you to start a business, something completely new to you and you really don’t know how to do it.
Or, God could be calling you to a career change, a trip across the world to serve the poorest of the poor, or something else entirely. It doesn’t have to make sense, and always remember, God equips the called.
In all of these cases, and in your unique circumstances, fides intrepida is what is needed to say, ‘yes.’
Daring faith is needed because the journey will be difficult, but the reward for such faith is immense- signal graces and provisions are among the biggest consolations on such a journey
So, what is the ‘more’ that God is calling you to in your life right now? And, will you choose a daring faith and be so bold as to say ‘yes’?
Thank you for being here and for reading! Next publication date is April 25.
