St. John Bosco has been instrumental in providing a safe place for boys at-risk to grow up and achieve their potential. Damien Simpson, a past resident of St. John Bosco, addressed the gathering, calling Sr. Susan his mother, mentor and friend. He said “She showed me what is love. She sees things in you that you do not see in yourself. What I am now, is because of St. John Bosco.” Currently the regional supervisor of Western, Central regions of Progressive Grocers, in charge of Training, Upliftment and Supervision, Mr. Simpson, expressed great pride at being happily married for 18 years, with four children all under one roof, and a homeowner for eight years. “Sister Susan taught us to be responsible. I learned from her that ‘It is your ambition that changes your condition.’” And “Don’t let your past determine your future.”
