A STAR A LEVEL RESULTS SHINE AT CATERHAM SCHOOL Caterham School is celebrating another superb year of A Level success, with an impressive 70 per cent of all results achieved being A* and A grades and 91 per cent A*to B grades. 34 per cent of grades were at A* and 52 per cent of pupils achieved straight A grades or better across all their exams, with 17 pupils achieving straight A* grades across all subjects. The strength of this year’s results is reflected in an impressive set of university destinations across the UK, US (including Ivy League) and globally with over 95 per cent of pupils having secured a place at their university of choice. A total of 11 pupils will take up places at the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge, while eight pupils have secured places to study Medicine. The breadth of subjects pupils will go on to study demonstrates the diversity of interests and opportunities available at Caterham School, with subjects ranging from veterinary science and politics to film, architecture and music. Ceri Jones, Headmaster, said: “It is safe to say that the hard work, resilience and ambition of our pupils shine through in these outstanding results (and the inspirational teaching of my fantastic colleagues). These grades are a testament to their determination, commitment and willingness to challenge themselves, and they should be immensely proud of what they have achieved. Perhaps most impressively, these stunning grades sit alongside amazing achievements in music, drama, sport and a whole range of other passions – demonstrating once again that academic ambition and success sit alongside breadth and balance in the lives of our young people. I could not be prouder of this cohort of pupils. They now have an exciting future ahead of them, and I look forward to seeing how they flourish and grow in the years to come. Whatever path they choose, they will always remain an important part of the Caterham School community. Our friendships and alumni network provide a lifelong connection, with a global community that is always there to support.”
This year’s A Level success builds on a period of national recognition for Caterham School and it’s growing family of schools. The Telegraph recently named Caterham School in the highest category of its Best Value UK Private Schools league table, recognising our broad offer to pupils including exceptional teaching and outstanding facilities. The 2026 results also follow a glowing Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) report, which recognised Caterham School as the first and only UK school to achieve three Key Areas of Strength in an inspection, highlighting the school’s work in teaching and learning, wellbeing, and digital and innovation. Caterham also received national recognition across the education sector, including being named a winner in the Independent School of the Year Awards 2024, as well as being recognised by Times Educational Supplement’s Best UK Independent Senior School 2023 and Best Independent Prep School in 2026.

FROM REGIMENTAL SERGEANT MAJOR TO OXFORD PHYSICIST
RAYA FINDS HIS PATH TO OXFORD Raya is celebrating after securing his place at Oriel College, Oxford, where he will study Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE). He is one of 11 Caterham pupils accepted to Oxford or Cambridge this year. After the nerves of the morning disappeared, Raya was delighted to receive the news. He said: “I’m really excited to get started and meet my new professors.” Looking back on his time at Caterham, Raya says he will miss the teachers, who have all been “so amazing and approachable”. He added: “It’s meant a lot to be here, the friends I’ve made and the experiences I’ve had. It’s a great school, I wouldn’t choose anywhere else.” His advice to other pupils is simple: “Follow your dreams and don’t be scared.”
An early start on results day was well worth it for Jonathan, who achieved an outstanding four A*s and secured his place at Exeter College, Oxford, to study a four-year Physics degree. Jonathan is looking forward to taking his passion for Physics to the next level at university but will certainly miss his friends and his time in the Combined Cadet Force (CCF). During his time at Caterham, Jonathan rose to the position of Regimental Sergeant Major, taking on a significant leadership role alongside his academic studies. Looking back at his time at Caterham School, Jonathan says, “All of the teachers say that as you go up through the years, school gets better and better, and that has been the case for me. Sixth Form has been the highlight of my time here at Caterham.”
LACROSSE CAPTAIN IS OFF AROUND THE WORLD There was an incredible buzz as Head of School and Lacrosse Captain Izzy received her results, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter. After her time at Caterham, Izzy will be setting off on an adventure of her own, taking a year to travel the world with friends before heading to the University of York to study TV Production. Izzy is particularly looking forward to university life and meeting new people who share her passion for television and production. With a clear sense of excitement about the future, she is eager to discover where her course, and university experience, will take her. A keen hockey and lacrosse player, Izzy says leaving Caterham will be bitter-sweet.
“I will really miss the community here at Caterham, especially within the sports teams, although I also can’t wait to compete against my friends attending different universities.” Her time at Caterham has been about much more than academic achievement. Izzy has embraced the opportunities available to her, throwing herself into school life and making the most of everything Caterham has to offer. “I have loved the opportunities available here and getting involved in everything that Caterham has to offer. I’ve learnt so much about myself through the work in my subjects and sports teams.”

For Maya, these results mean she can take the next step towards her dream of becoming a doctor, something she has worked incredibly hard towards. She said: “I’m so excited for the whole university experience and that I get to study medicine. I’ve wanted this for so long and I’m so pleased it is all coming true.” Maya has also played an important role as Co-Chair of the Wright Society, Caterham’s young medics society for pupils aspiring to pursue a career in medicine. “The guidance and support we were given as part of the Wright Society was invaluable. It was also great being able to inspire younger members.” As Maya gets ready to start this exciting new chapter, she is also reflecting on her time at Caterham. “There are just so many things you can do and so many opportunities waiting for you. I’m going to miss everything about Caterham School, especially all my friends.” Maya is a testament to her own advice for future pupils: “If you work hard and focus, you can get where you want to go.”

CHARLIE IS OFF TO TREAD THE BOARDS
Kate is celebrating her A Level success and looking forward to the next chapter as she heads to UCL to study History. Having joined Caterham in Third Year, Kate has made the most of her time at the school, particularly through her experience of boarding and her role as Head of Beech Hanger, Caterham’s girls boarding house. “What I’ve loved most is the friends I’ve made and the support within the school. There’s such a great network here.” Boarding has been a particularly important part of Kate’s Caterham experience, giving her a strong sense of community and lasting friendships. “Boarding has been a real community experience and I’m going to miss everyone at Beech Hanger.” As Kate looks ahead to her next chapter, she leaves Caterham with lasting friendships and happy memories of a school community that has played an important part in her journey.
Delighted with his A Level results, Charlie is off to the Oxford School of Drama in September and he’s ready to be challenged and to develop as an actor. Having joined Caterham Prep at just three years old, Charlie has been part of the Caterham community ever since and says it feels like family, having grown up here. He reflects fondly on his time, adding: “I will miss my teachers and their ongoing support throughout my journey, and I am especially grateful for all their support in sixth form with my decision to pursue my passion.” It will be a busy autumn for Charlie, as he was accepted into the highly competitive National Youth Theatre and will also be attending membership courses. I didn’t sleep too well thinking about them but it’s been great news.” Abi can now take her pick of A Level subjects as she moves into Sixth Form: “It’s hard choosing which subject because I love them all but I’m going to do English, Maths, Greek and French. Today has given me a lot of confidence stepping into the Sixth Form. Outside of lessons, Abi has much to look forward to in Sixth Form: “I want to be part of the Arts and Humanities magazine Cat Amongst the Pigeons as well as continue to be part of the Ethics Cup Team.” Abi was part of the Caterham team who reached the 2026 national finals in the Ethics Cup competition run by St Andrew’s University. Economics. She is looking forward to exploring subjects she really enjoys in greater depth, as well as enjoying her newfound independence. One of the things Annah values most about Caterham is the welcoming sense of community and the friendships she’s made. From taking part in sport to getting involved in Model United Nations Club, where she has fine-tuned her debating skills, she has embraced the opportunities available both inside and outside the classroom. Annah was also keen to recognise the support of her teachers throughout her time at Caterham. “I want to thank all my teachers, not just from Fifth Year, but all of them since I started in the First Year. I feel like they always focus on you individually.”

ROMA
CAITLIN
Roma’s results are remarkable for two reasons – not only has he secured a fantastic grade profile of top 8s, 7s and 6s but has done so whilst settling in a new country after moving from Ukraine and learning English from scratch. “I spoke no English when I joined Caterham. It was hard at the start, but I learnt the language quite fast. The best part of being at Caterham is the teachers and pupils and I have lots of friends now. Being here makes me want to work hard and have fun.” Roma’s results mean he can now concentrate on his favourite subjects at A Level: “My grades mean I can choose whatever I want to do and I’m going to go with my favourite Maths, Economics and Politics for A Level.” The support of those around him played a big part in today’s good news for Roma: “Thanks to my family for supporting me to get these results. Thanks to my friends too – we revised together and were pushing each other on to get the best results and be competitive in a good way.”
‘Today has been a really happy day, I’m so pleased with my results and it’s also been fantastic seeing all my friends do really well too. It’s the end of what has felt like a long wait’ said Caitlin, who was celebrating a fantastic set of results. A keen linguist, she will be studying Latin, Greek, French and Maths at A level and is excited to refine her knowledge and
LUCY Results day couldn’t have gone any better for Lucy, who was absolutely thrilled with her results today and rightly so, with a full sweep of grade 9s. She was particularly pleased with her English Literature paper: ‘I got full marks in English Literature, which is amazing, I’d really like to
delve into greater depth in her chosen subjects. Outside of the classroom, sport has played a big role in her time at Caterham so far. As well as representing Surrey in Hockey and playing for Lacrosse and Cricket teams at school, last year Caitlin was also qualified for the South Surrey Cross Country Championships. Further congratulations go to Caitlin, not only for achieving the highest possible star level, Master Cadet, in CCF this summer, but for also being named Best Student on the course. ‘I’ve loved being part of CCF and I am so excited to continue that journey into the Sixth Form.’ Caitlin continues, ‘I also want to say a big thanks to all my friends for their support and my teachers too, of course.’
thank Dr Bromley for helping me achieve 100%.’ Lucy plans to go on to study her favourite subjects Maths, Further Maths, Physics, English and Art. She says: ‘I’m really looking forward to specialising and focusing on the subjects I really enjoy.’ It has been a busy summer for Lucy, who is a keen member of the Lacrosse First Team here at Caterham, as she was also selected to represented South Africa in the World Lacrosse Women’s Championships Division II in Wroclaw. ETHICAL AI & ENTREPRENEURSHIP QUALIFICATION Pioneering Ethical AI & Entrepreneurship Qualification launched in partnership with Nottingham University Business School. Caterham School has launched a new GCSE equivalent qualification to fill the skills gap and prepare young people for an AI and technology-based future. The Key Stage 4 course (for pupils in Years 10 & 11) has been developed in partnership with Nottingham University Business School and social entrepreneurial education charity Enactus UK & Ireland. The first cohort of pupils will begin the qualification in September 2026. The qualification, named EDGE, has been designed to bridge the gap between traditional education and the rapidly evolving world of work. Combining academic business theory with creativity, innovation and real-world problem solving, the course places social impact at the heart of learning. Available as an option alongside GCSE subjects, the new EDGE qualification enables pupils to design, develop and launch their own social enterprises. Working with business mentors and industry experts, pupils navigate the entrepreneurial journey while developing the skills needed to translate ideas into real life start ups. It embraces technology teaching the ethical use of Artificial Intelligence and technology as a core element.
Professor Andrew Bacon OBE, Associate Dean of Nottingham University’s Business School welcomed the initiative, saying: “This is an incredible moment for those of us who have been campaigning for many years, championing the importance of enterprise education. Recognising business with purpose is our future. It’s important that as educators we shift.” Caterham School’s collaboration with universities and employers highlighted a growing skills gap between academic achievement and the capabilities young people need when entering the workplace. The EDGE qualification has been created to address this challenge by developing skills such as navigating uncertainty, applying knowledge in unfamiliar contexts and turning ideas into viable solutions. Caterham School Headmaster Ceri Jones said: “We feel very strongly that as a school it is our responsibility to create pathways and opportunities for pupils to learn in ways that genuinely prepare them for a fastpaced, uncertain world.” Built around a flexible and forwardlooking framework, EDGE combines traditional business studies theory with project-based learning. Pupils
develop key capabilities including critical and strategic thinking, entrepreneurial mindset, collaboration, leadership and confidence applying learning beyond the classroom. Amy Brereton, CEO of Enactus UK, said: “By developing these skills and behaviours in a safe environment, pupils gain the confidence to take them into the world and apply them as soon as they finish school.” The programme has already been validated by leading business thinkers and educational innovators across the UK, helping ensure the qualification reflects what universities, employers and society increasingly value. The first cohort of pupils will begin the course in September 2026. The ambition is to share the EDGE curriculum and qualification with state-maintained and independent schools across the UK to ensure the skills gap identified by major employers of graduates and school leavers. The EDGE Social Entrepreneurship & Innovation Certificate represents more than a new course – it signals a broader shift in education towards combining academic excellence with enterprise, innovation and social purpose.
