Paul Kenton’s latest collection affirms his reputation as the master of the modern cityscape. Like the vast, sprawling metropolis depicted in his paintings, Kenton’s confident oeuvre is constantly evolving yet its unique character - abuzz with a rich and satisfying tapestry of city life - is unmistakable.

Over the years, we’ve seen Kenton hone and develop the impressionistic feel of his art – whilst sometimes his subject matter can verge into the abstract, the accurate depiction of light has always been at the heart of Kenton’s creations. Like the impressionist painters before him, Kenton strives for his paintings to create a mood, evoke a feeling or reflect a myriad of emotions; with free shapes, mixed media, dripped l i n e s a n d c o l o u r. K e n t o n ’ s t e c h n i q u e i s e x t r e m e l y f r e e and unplanned, forgoing sketching and planning in favour of the immediacy of diving into the heart of the painting.
