THIS WAS HOW THE ORIGINAL PR ARTICLE IN SEPTEMBER 1928
As cross-country travel became more and more essential in the early 1900s, so did the demand for luxurious, safe and speedy travel. Answering the demand is one such company called the PICKWICK MOTOR COACH BUILDERS, which developed the NITE coaches that comprised 13 two-person compartments with fold-down seats for sleeping. In total, 26 people could travel comfortably powered by a six-cylinder sterling engine. Both night coaches look beautiful, but the best is the yellow, black and red striped version for us. What a gorgeous colour combination that is undoubtedly extremely striking and visually appealing. And it suits the odd shape of the Nite Coach, which resembles an overnight ferry.
“The spectacular ‘Nitecoach’ looks like nothing else awheel or afloat. At first glance it appears to visitors like a gleaming blue and gray submarine on bulging balloon tires, for it is gracefully streamlined and is equipped with portholes as well as big observation windows. There is no hood as on the ordinary stage, the portion of the body containing the driver’s compartment being built directly over the motor. From tapered prow to rear observation deck, the Nitecoach is as graceful as a yacht.”
The year started off with the TOKYO AUTO SALON and the not-so-secret SUPRA being launched by at least four different brands. The Licensors are laughing all the way to the bank. Of course, we can expect a wonderful casting from MINI GT, and we are sure that would be a great way to kick off the new year.
Then don’t forget to save all those extra sources of income for the DBS variants you can expect from MINI GT’s James Bond Universe. According to Glen, the charismatic owner of TSM, they didn’t try to put all the gadgets into one car and make it gimmicky because it would compromise on many of the features that make MINI GT premium. There would be many gaps, the proportionate change would affect how things looked, and compromises would have to be made. So, instead, there will be many variations of the DB5 in various modes.
After all it’s not like FLOPRACE squishing out every dollar they can from their Drift HAKO casting.
Finally, KAIDO HOUSE blesses us with a new Datsun 510.
This one will look super-hot displayed next to FLOPRace’s only spark of inspiration last year which was the BOSOZUKU in black and white livery much like this one. Again, nice and simple colour combination.

Auto World replicates a Mecum Mopar masterpiece.
This beautifully-restored 1970 Plymouth Duster was sold by Mecum Auctions, featured as Lot F167 at the 2019 Indianapolis auction. This 1970 Duster 340 is painted FC7 In-Violet with V6X and V8X black body stripes. Under the hood is the proper 340 cubic inch 4BBL engine rated at 275 horsepower. Brabus is known for doing terrible things like turning beasts into monsters, put us low-level second-hand car buyers to shame, and step all our environmental feelings. Be that it may they also produce monsters that howl down the tarmac at speeds and torque that tethers on the edge of human comfort and discomforting performance. Basically, you could defecate yourself just pulling this out of TESCO’s. That’s what Brabus does.
Now before GT SPIRIT get to far ahead in the JDM game they still leave us with a few classy crumbs. On such crumb is this PORSCHE tuned Brabus. Serious people don’t go out dressed up as clowns and this is about as minimalist as you can get in TUNER TOWN. And Brabus don’t really do subdued. Take a look at their G Wagon Rocket (SOLIDO has one in 1/43) it’s got oversized everything, park it at your front door and stat the engine it would hoover up the house.
This 911 or GTS, or CAYMAN, PORSCHE is a true VADER ride. It can hit hyper speed, it moves like a TIE FIGHTER and probably has the same energy consumption to match.
Slot car racing is the answer to all our indoor track racing woes. Auto World is blowing our SPEED RACER minds with the launch of this new set. It includes a loop section, Controllers, power pack, enough track to do three different layouts and of course 2 cars. The Mach 5 and Shooting Star. Insane hours of fun and racing already with an easy setup.
This round, we have a TOYOTA 2000GT with Speed Racers Mach 5 Livery on it, and I have to say it looks so natural that I’m beginning to wonder whether the MACH 5 was inspired by the 2000GT.
Another John Wick chapter covers cars. This time, it’s a Charger with an HEMI block and tag.
We also have a homage (notice how these brand homages end up on VW buses) to the Turtle Wax brand on a VW T1 Transporter. The Turtle Shell bodywork looks very lovely as does those wheels.
We have a Dodge Dart, which I’m thinking is going to end up carded on the Postal Classics like last time’s GTO
IN 1/18 SCALE,
Which produces some amazingly detailed models, we have the famous Pontiac Catalin painted in Mr. B’s Passionate Poncho livery. Judging by previous models, I can tell you the details on this are going to be insane.
Finally, there is a Supercharged Corvette Stingray called the Atomic Bomb. More on that later in the year.
Incredible detail hidden under opening parts. Four stunning models to burn rubber into the new year. This year, floor it!
Our friends over in Japan have started the year strong with some amazing models. Of course, their car snap series will be a great extension to miniature car photography. But more than anything else, fans love the old pre-80s and even pre-70s JDM classics. In the months to come, we can expect this gorgeous NISSAN SKYLINE executive-level car, which includes a PEPSI-branded version as well.
Or add the mighty Toyota Crown in Burgundy red, which was a ship to drive but was amongst the most luxurious rides you can find at TOYOTA Prices. The details on this 1/64 model are perfect, and you will notice a perfect rendition of this absolute classic and one of Japan’s flagship luxury sedans.

INNO64
This is another classic from JL’s Pop Culture line. With the number of cool cars all these action heroes and antiheroes have, I doubt there will ever be a shortage of brilliant castings like this one. And to be quite honest, the way the hobby is going, these sorts of castings will be appreciated more by collectors.
Let’s start with the basics. The paintwork is a lovely shade of metallic Forest green. With paint processes improving, this looks amazing with no paint issues, and it feels like a nice thick coat. Opening parts means a semi-detailed engine, as is with JL and AW castings and Fat-tread tyres. One feature I really like is the actual license plate instead of show plates: it adds a little bit of extra realism.
What has always astounded me about Round2 castings is that they don’t have the details of plastic headlights, so forget about them being lensed. However, the paintwork is so realistic that you don’t miss the details found in much higher-priced 1/64-scale cars. At the end of the day, if you can get better details at lower prices, no one will complain about that. This is an extremely good example of that.
I LOVE THAT IT HAS A MATCHING SHADE OF GREEN INTERIOR, THE TYRES ARE BRANDED, AND MAYBE BECAUSE IT DOESN’T NEED THE OVERINDULGENT SPOILER AND AERO PACKAGE, THE CASTING ITSELF IS PRETTY SIMPLE AND PERFECTED. IN A JOHN WICK WORLD THIS WOULD BE A CASTING TO KILL FOR.
Every country's philatelic society has a keen awareness of pop culture. From music to art, subjects that define specific periods and events that shape society have often been commemorated on stamps.
Car culture and motor culture in the United States are deeply ingrained in the national identity. With millions of miles driven and over a century of automotive history, it’s no surprise that various milestones, champions, leaders, brands, and icons have found their way onto stamps, preserving this history with colourful pieces of paper.
Of course, some collectors prefer memorabilia in a three-dimensional format, such as diecast models with rubberised wheels that open to reveal semi-detailed engines. These vehicles provide an experience beyond what a stamp can offer; collectors can appreciate the body lines, admire the chrome rims, and almost imagine themselves inside, wearing reflective Ray-Ban sunglasses and getting ready to hit the road.
While a stamp may not evoke those feelings, the JL casting of the 1966 Pontiac GTO might come close.
Inno64 is making Ignition Models look bad! I never thought I would see Ignition Models get knocked off their pedestal as the standard for highly detailed models, but this past year has shown how dangerously close the competition has come. As I write this, I keep glancing at a TOP SECRET R35 by INNO64 on my desk, and I can't help but marvel at how impressive it looks.
The car features lensed plastic lights at the back, which is significant because the SILVIA 180SX had those long rear lights, making them a rare detail. By creating a light bar like that, INNO64 had to develop a new mould to maintain the authentic look, and they have done a brilliant job.
The 180SX branding on the side of the car is unmistakable. If you were around in the '80s, you'd immediately recognise those graphics and font styles. This is a refreshing change from the wide-body modified Japanese cars we have seen lately.
However, regarding detail, finish, and collector appeal, INNO64 will be competing strongly with Ignition this year!
Certainly not one that should be allowed to fall under the radar. This epic piece from Matchbox has graced the pegs, and it would be a pity that it would be missed by a collector who likes a good Mercedes casting. This is from their regular blister line, and I was bi-turbo’d away by the level of detail on a simple mainline casting.
LOVELY METALLIC GOLD PAINT, LOVELY STANCE, JUST PERFECT RIDE HEIGHT,
This is an excellent find at a great price. The wheel arches are nicely done, and I reckon a lovely wheel swap would transform how this looks into the atmosphere. If you buy this and do a wheel swap, please let us know how it went because we would love to see pictures.
This series has many other models, but this one stands out as the best. It inspired me to pull out some Matchbox models from the 1980s from our ever-growing Castheads Garage. These two castings, the AMG and 500 SEC, are rare in this condition. They were released during a turbulent time for Matchbox management, with the company's future uncertain.
Recreational vehicles (RVs) are a cornerstone for America's cross-country travellers, and contrary to popular belief, they were not built specifically for "Breaking Bad." One of the most iconic RVs that set the standard for future designs was the GMC motorhome, launched in 1973. This model featured a unibody construction made from aluminium and fibreglass to reduce weight. It was mounted on a purpose-built chassis and employed a front-engine, front-wheel-drive layout, which improved its centre of balance— important for vehicles that could be top-heavy. This design allowed the GMC Motorhome to handle remarkably well.
THE DESIGNERS ALSO ENLISTED INTERIOR DECORATORS TO CREATE VARIOUS FLOOR PLANS AND COLOUR OPTIONS, ENSURING THE MODEL WAS WELL-EQUIPPED WITH CRUISE CONTROL, AIR CONDITIONING, AN ADVANCED SOUND SYSTEM, AND AIR SUSPENSION.
AUTOMODELLO PROVIDED US WITH A LIST OF GMC MOTORHOMES TO CHOOSE FROM. THEY CURRENTLY OFFER TWO ORIGINAL MANUFACTURER-SPECIFIC COLOURS: THE GLACIER WHITE AND BLUE COMBINATION AND THE PALM GREEN VERSION, WHICH CAUGHT MY EYE. HOWEVER, THE THIRD OPTION ON THE LIST TRULY DELIGHTED ME, SO WE REQUESTED THE HESKETH RACING MODEL!
As a massive fan of the underdog, I have great admiration for Hesketh Racing and their cavalier approach to motorsport that won the hearts of fans around the world. Many of their antics would likely not be tolerated near a racetrack today. Still, the team’s owner was known for his love of celebration, famously driving his party bus or RV to Monaco, where the festivities would continue throughout the race weekend, win or lose. For Hesketh Racing fans, this is a remarkable piece of racing history.
Automodello models are not for the faint-hearted or casual collectors. First, they come with a serious price tag, a certificate of authenticity, and a luxurious display box. These limited-edition pieces are hand-built, each part crafted with incredible precision, collaborating with relevant manufacturers to ensure flawless execution.
IT'S INCREDIBLY EASY TO SEE THE MODEL AND THINK, "YEP!"
Having the opportunity to work with this model and add it to our collection is a delight. It’s one of those models you never knew you wanted until now.
Do you have £300,000 just waiting in your bank account? If so, you're in for a treat, because you could own an extraordinary car that promises to elevate your driving experience to new heights! This stunning vehicle is a remarkable fusion of two iconic automotive heritages—an exhilarating marriage of American power and Italian artistry.
Introducing the Iso Grifo, a visionary creation from the Italian company Iso Autoveicoli, designed to compete with the likes of Ferrari and Maserati in the sports car arena. Although the company faced financial challenges, it left behind a legacy of innovation and style. The design, crafted by the legendary Giorgetto Giugiaro at Bertone, showcases his artistic mastery through sweeping lines and beautifully curved wheel arches. The result? An unmistakably Italian marvel that captivates at first glance.
Underneath that elegant exterior lies mechanical genius from Giotto Bizzarrini, who lent his expertise after leaving Ferrari. He ingeniously paired a Chevrolet V8 engine with a Borg Warner 4-speed manual transmission, delivering an impressive 300 horsepower and a thrilling ability to accelerate to 110 km/h in just the first gear.
We were excited to receive a striking model painted in a vibrant shade of orange, known in the automotive realm as Arancio. But there’s more! Automodello offers this fantastic model in a range of additional colorscolours, so you can choose the perfect fit for your collection. The level of detail is simply remarkable, ensuring that every element is just right
The car’s badging features elegantly metal-etched elements that are perfectly positioned, and the wheels are stunningly accurate replicas of traditional "wire" wheels, avoiding any cheap chrome alternatives. Additionally, each color has a separate limited production run. For instance, the Orange Iso Grifo has only 49 models produced, while the Black version is even rarer, with just 6 units made. This limited production significantly enhances the long-term value of the model in your collection.
When you choose an Automodello, you can be assured that you’re getting an impeccable homage to a true automotive classic.
Happy collecting!
That's the custom wheel delivery done.
Yeah. We need to move those refrigerators and those colour tvs next.
I've got a blister on my thumb. We're rappers man, not wrappers.
Lysander, can you take this S15 over to the Pro Wrap team? It's money for nothing and the snack are free.
Sounds as if you're in dire straights.
but I'm not sure how many people know that it participated in the Le Mans race in 1988. It was driven by Manuel Reuter, Walter Lechner, and Franz Hunkler, but unfortunately, it ended with a DNF (Did Not Finish).
I'm also uncertain whether the "CAMEL" branding came pre-applied or if it was added later, as mine is a sample. Many manufacturers provide water decals for customers to apply themselves, which I dislike because I often end up not using them. So, when I opened the box and found that the stickers were already on, I was relieved.
This car continues ToyEast and Sparky Models' tradition of delivering real-world liveries and motorsport legends in a 1/64 scale. It features a lot of detail, especially with the wheels. We checked out several versions of this car, and all the pictures we looked at showed gold BBS multispoke slicks at the back and the famous Porsche Turbo Wheels that help channel cool air to the brakes for better cooling.
WITH LENSED FRONT LIGHTS, THIS CAR IS THE PERFECT ADDITION TO YOUR GROWING LE MANS 1/64 COLLECTION.
The GT1 PORSCHE homologated for LeMans was truly an astonishing beast that literally kept eating up the tarmac at Lemans in 1996. Overall winner in the highly coveted GT1 class and 2nd and 3rd winners of Lemans 1996. The car was an absolute beast, and if you peel back all the rumours and stories, you’d find it was built specifically to win at Lemans even though it needed to be homologated (a bit of reverse homologation occurred). They were stunning cars, painted with this almost liquid-esque flow of art, paint and colour. They were sleek and fast, and if you look closely at the model you order, you will realise the design underpinnings for the famous widow maker, the ‘Carrera GT’.
All of these massive features and history come together in yet another highly detailed yet tiny little package of 1/64. We really like these team boxes instead of choosing between one number and the other depending on who’s more famous. This way, you buy the team and have both to gloat about in terms of street cred. And trust us, 20 years from now, a complete LeMans collection in 1/64 will be more desirable than a collection of a million Skylines.
TW HAS BEEN RELEASING A SLEW OF EVO, AND NO ONE IS COMPLAINING BECAUSE, SERIOUSLY, THIS HOBBY HAS TO HAVE SOME SORT OF BALANCE. THANKFULLY, FELIX AND FAM KEEP IT EXCITING AND TOE-TICKLINGLY INTERESTING WITH CARS, CARDS AND EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN TO KEEP THE COMPETITION GUESSING.
In terms of a RALLYE car, this is quite a clean-looking option without extensive front lighting. I love that car enthusiasts get a nice, clean look, and the champion is somewhat clean-shaven and looks quite classy. Also, this is not just an EVO model.
Nope. It’s the car that Mäkinen Tommi & Harjanne Seppo drove to fourth place after a run of 6 hours and 37 minutes in the Monte Carlo 1995 Rallye Circuit. For EVO Fans, Mäkinen is a god-like McCrae was to Subaru, and therefore, plenty of Mäkinen fans out there would make this a perfect addition to the adulating collection to the man who baptised the Mitsubishi in fire and brimstone.
Many things will start with the drop of this model, and we will see if we can identify a few alarms. No. 1, GT SPIRIT have put its foot into IGNITION MODELS territory, which could be the last SAMURAI for IGNITION. So far, they have been undefeated in the resin world of Japanese tuning and JDM cars, enjoying a steady line of customers and orders. But GT SPIRIT sent me this model, which just exploded my brain. I was not expecting a MAX ORIDO GR SUPRA in ADVAN livery. No. This is IGNITION territory. GT SPIRIT does European and German automotive, which is a smattering of American Muscle, but now JDM’s AND they are very good at it.
THIS IS A SHINING EXAMPLE OF HOW GT SPIRIT WILL KNOCK THE SMILE OFF IGNITION MODELS. IT HAS THE SAME DETAIL BUT AT A LOWER PRICE.
But on the flip side, this is very worrying because it feels like the balance of models will shift. The JDM rage that has permeated the 1/64 market is starting to filter into the 1/18 market, which is a shame because up until now, there has been a vast sea of veritable 1/18 scale models in all sorts of colours and makes that give collectors something to collect. Not an endless loop of HKS, ADVAN, CALSONIC, JTCC / DRFITER mashups that seem to dominate the collecting scene.
WHAT MAKES MATTERS WORSE IS THAT GT SPIRIT IS DOING AN EXTREMELY GOOD JOB—
ENOUGH FOR US TO LOOK UP FROM OUR DESKS AND FEEL A STORM BREWING.
Every element you would look at in a model to validate detail and price tag is perfect. The finish is perfect, with no unsightly glue marks or glue stains. Elements such as the intricate rear aero arms and machine finished to look like the real thing. Fired exhaust tips to make them look like heat-stressed titanium. The measuring stick between GT SPIRIT and IGNITION gets smaller and shorter with every detail revealed.
Only TARMAC WORKS can combine a love for collecting trucks, a traditional pop icon and a way to have it all in your collection without standing out or actually having something like this in your collection, which may be unique. Something eclectic amongst the usual stuff. Whichever side of the track you're on; this is guaranteed you are going to love this little truck that is going to be perfect as a backdrop piece or conversation starter in your photography.
YES, WE
KNOW IT’S
‘HELLO KITTY’ AND HARDCORE FANS, INCLUDING US, WILL BUY IT.
We highly recommend it, but those who prefer that TW concentrate on more Zonda’s or Agera’s may not seem so convinced. Unless catching a Zonda overtaking one of these CANTER trucks on a dimly lit diorama catapults you into a premier car photographer status….THEN adding one of these to the basket doesn’t seem like a bad idea.
1/64 MITSUBISHI FUSO AERO BUS (TEISAN TOURIST BUS) LV-N300B
TOMYTEC does very well adding ‘real life’ into tiny worlds. Their penchant for creating miniature perfection has led them to be one of the most sought-after brands for filling city dioramas with real-world vehicles. The delicate balance between creation and collection is always maintained with cars that don’t change in scale and are usually closer to the real scale.
FROM A COLLECTOR'S POINT OF VIEW, IF YOU ARE INTO COLLECTING BUSES, THIS IS A PROPER CLASSIC FROM THE 80S, AND DEFINITELY ONE YOU WOULD HAVE SEEN OR EVEN TRAVELLED ON WHILE TRAVELLING THROUGH ASIA AT THE TIME.
HONESTLY, I would like to mount this and the other two colours on a framed surface and display them as art pieces. This casting is definitely one of my favourites for 2024, and maybe I think there are enough colour variations. Three is a good number, and we do not include ‘chase’ colours. But what a simple casting and it always amazes enthusiasts at how simple the 308 design was, yet so iconic, only to be softened up by LIBERT WALKS Aeros kits.
This new colour variation is really a good mix of three basic colours, with a Japanese framing of colour against the sharp edges and corners of the Italian design mantra. It is a conflict of design ethos on wheels. Like a Japanese Stork, the black-and-white ode to nature culminates its form with a long, sharp-edged beak dancing on bronzed Italian Shoes. Then, the interruption of form is brought on by the Kaiju-like presence of LIBERTY WALK, accentuating the body.
CLEAN, PRECISE AND DETAILED, 3 THINGS YOU CAN EXPECT FROM THIS CASTING WHEN YOU ORDER AND RECEIVE.
There is no reason to go on singing so much praise for something that is a clear winner in any collector’s book. The only thing that will worry collectors is this availability. Have the scalpers gotten them all yet?
things get so involved that it becomes less about the car and more about the exclusivity of having it or being associated with the brand that has it, and the brand that produces it is also your favourite brand, but then the brands come together and make a super brand which blows your mind and…and…and…. If you are confused, so am I and the AI that is supposed to be helping is actually making a bigger hash of things by trying to sort it all out.
Basically, you start a fashion brand online, take many weird pictures, tag it onto a massive cultural movement like car culture, and take lots of Instagram photos of your fabulous life and toys. Then, buy a super noticeable JDM car, put a really famous body kit on it, and before you know it…. easy money for everyone.
SO, THE BASIC QUESTION IS?
HAVE YOU MISSED OUT ON OWNING A MAZDA RX-7 MAZDA SPEED A-SPEC OR A NISSAN SILVIA S14 VERTEX BODY KIT?
They are the same as the earlier version TARMAC WORKS has put out previously. They do have a very nice paint job, especially the SILVIA, and I’m not a huge fan of the usual RAW chases, but these two come in a beautiful Metallic version of the original colours, which one could count as spectacular and worth having in your collection. However, if you have gotten this far into reading this you deserve a free tip. One of the most laughable lines we find on online stores is similar to what you will find on the PRIX website, which is ‘Limited production run and will never be produced again’ This sort of FOMO mongering is a standard white lie.
Just wait till yet another Japanese fashion label gets launched today, tomorrow, the owner will buy a PORSCHE, turn it into an LBWK or RWB, and by the end of the month, all the TOP 5 or one of them will have it on pre-order. You’re not missing out. But if you can get these at the standard rate of USD14 then enlarge your collection.
They’ve got them in all scales, allowing us to see if the PINK SLIPS also hold up their bargain in 1/64. Have the PINK SLIPS been successful? Well, from what we’ve seen, some models may have been a bit of a hit-and-miss for some collectors, but overall, the vibe has been punchy, and collectors are starting to appreciate the added colour in their collections. JADA's castings for their 1/64 line may seem familiar, but don’t worry; there aren’t any conspiracies; brands share castings and licenses to give you guys more choices.
This lovely matt metallic two-tone combination of PINK and LEMON YELLOW is first on our list of six cars to talk about under the JPS series—JADA PINK SLIPS (JPS). It's fresh like pink lemonade, and we love it in the office. We've been waiting a while to get our hands on this because it is quite popular, and so swish that many collectors want it. It’s also complemented by the six-star wheels rimmed with a yellow pinstripe.
It seems that JADA has taken 6 of the best Majorette castings to be used by JADA, and their paint schemes completely rock. A perfect example is this pink Porsche. Even the grilles, though we know, are not perforated and are just solid pieces of plastic, but they have managed to make it look good. Throw in the collectortin-table for storage with wild matching coloured graphics on the cover, and we have a cool Spyder.
If I ever own an ASTON, then I must have a Jeeves to be able to use that line over and over again. Simply because it is fun. Also, I would like my ASTON to look something like this: a GT3 Vantage in Gulf ‘styled’ colouring, just a coincidental combination of two of our favourite colours. We have raved and sung a hero's welcome for this casting. Previously, when another brand released it, it also came with rubber tyres, giving it a premium feel and ride. It also comes with a storage collector tin table and opening doors. That’s a lot of extras for the price. You might even get an air freshener with this one. It's so posh.
Even non-majorette collectors are going to hover after this one. All it is asking for is a killer wheel swap. That metallic green is to dye, for it is absolutely perfect as a finish and has been given a gorgeous clear coat to make the paint pop. Then! Then they add a matt gold racing line and line graphics to the body.
JADA really slayed with this, and this is yet another great casting choice that I think will get a lot of attention if it hasn’t already. It looks so good as is but I can’t help feeling that it ould have so much more potential. Would some kind-hearted customizer give this car with heart a bit of good and do your thing? We would love to see the result.
if there’s going to be a GT-R in the mix, it doesn’t hurt to have a NISMO version thrown in for good measure. This one actually looks statelier in this shade of metallic satin green, but of course, when we say stately, we mean lie the ‘King of Drift’ or the Minister of Burnt Rubber. We know the difference between Nissan and Bentley. And then again, the R35 is known for its more ‘reigned in’ nature, knowing when to Zen-like increase the pace or apply the pressure.
This model will certainly apply pressure onto your brain as you start to count the days and the pennies hidden in the crack of the sofa. It’s good-looking, and it is a must-have for a NISSAN fan.
Another sneaky addition in the colours that look very similar to the brand Gulf, but there is no mention of any relation, so this is another happy coincidence. As far as casting goes, I think we have raved about this from the first time it was launched, and that’s to say it has consistently looked good and kept up the styling in whatever shade of colour combination it has been presented in. Love seeing it in the JADA line, which means many US collectors can get their hands on this casting much easier.
Unlike the usual castings, which have only one opening part section, this has two, with the doors AS WELL AS the rear boot lid, which is another little extra for the Mustang. I love this casting; it still looks good, and with its storage tin, we are rocking.
TURN ON TUNED IN
This PINK SLIPS version is an obvious ode to the classic combination of Signal Red Body and bronze gold rims from the original LP-400S Quattrovalvole colour scheme. This is an absolutely gorgeous colour combination, and it is well painted onto the new version, including a few gold paint highlights on the body. This is a great casting but lowering it would have been perfect. To be honest, this stance would be perfect for the Lamborghini Serrato, and both JADA and Majorette should capitalise on it for 2025 if they haven’t already.
Scissor doors open and close on this model, and the casting is quite solid in capturing the car's sharp angles and edges. But the best part is the red paint. It’s such a great colour and looks rich, like a triple coat of red with a nice clear coat for extra gloss.
When I open this up I was not prepared for the pleasant shock I received. Quite a few Z’s have rolled our way in all scales but this woke broke the camels back and for two simple reasons. The choice of car and the choice of colour.
We have noticed a trend in the SOLIDO group, which includes GT SPIRIT and OTTO Mobile, and that is they are currently being heavily influenced by the JDM movement that has gotten the 1/64 scale world by the short hairs. If you feel this statement has been repeated, then it's bloody awesome that you have also read the other articles in this issue. And yes, there is a common thread JDM. So we have a 240Z NISSAN done in the same style as the WAGAN Z.
Flared wheel arches riveted on but classy in a dark metallic gun metal grey finish. So damn spicy, this is reaper level. Then we have those impeccable wheels from the 70’s re-created to perfection. The odd placement of the ducktail spoiler is correct. This is a work of art. Otto Mobile has gotten this right. We are incredibly incredulous to have received this 1. Because we didn’t expect this, and 2. We are stunned at the quality and finish. Craftmanship plus plus in our books.
I HONESTLY FIND IT VERY UNLIKELY THAT ANY Z FAN WOULD PASS UP AN OPPORTUNITY TO OWN ONE OF THESE IN THEIR COLLECTION. I TRULY, MADLY, DEEPLY LOVE THIS CASTING.
Another fantastic choice. The Otto mobile production team should pat themselves heavily on the back for this model. The choice of colour is just inspirational—not midnight blue or midnight purple, not a chameleon paint job, just sunset orange, gloss, period correct, and breathtaking. This car is like a 911, it will look good in any colour. It looks good in brown and looks good in caramel; think of any colour and apply it to the Z. It will look stunning, and that is why it is so hard to pick a good production colour for a car that looks good in the entire Pantone selection of colours.
THIS REALLY IS AN AMAZING RELEASE. EVEN THOUGH OTTO MOBILE HAS BEEN KNOWN TO BE OVER THE USD 100 MARK, THEIR RESIN MODELS ARE IN LEAGUE WITH SOME OF THE 300-500 USD DETAILED MODELS.
This is a must-have!
Kicking things off for 2025 and we have more R35 LBWK models in 1/18 scale. The popularity of LBWK has exploded (helped a lot by the diecast community) and now pretty much anything that LBWK touches turns to gold. This also means that orders are high and LBWK cars are popping up all over the world like chicken pox in a non-immunized commune.
Unfortunately, the trend is pretty fresh so we really don’t know how long this phenomenon will last. And in that time, everyone is going to make hay while the sun shines. Only time will tell for some whether betting on the LBWK horse was the right move for the long term. In the meantime, plenty of fodder for the production teams and we see the results. SOLIDO towards the end of last year had an LBWK R35 release every month. This year they launch the LBWK tribute to Paul Walker (see our insta) as the first R35 for the year.
Everything else is just LBWK add-ons. As you can see for yourself the line art of the car’s innards painted against the Shotgun Grey looks crazy good and so for in terms of ‘art’ this one really pulls quite a few punches. It’s not rocket science and certainly not the first time this has been done.
But on the Skyline, it looks radical cand coupled with those red bordered rims, this car has gangster vibes and I can just see this cruising down the streets in Thailand which is where this car is originally based. Yes, the model has opening parts with a fairly well to do interior, but the gem of this car is the outside and, in the line, up of GTR’s already released by SOLIDO this one stands out of the crowd.
