AUTOWORLD VINTAGEMUSCLE CRYMEARIVIERA

NewAuto World releases are incoming! Just how hot is that Lincoln Continental? Featured in both the A and B versions as well as a chase car and a TARGET exclusive, this showpiece ofAmerican automotive opulence is going to be a hot ticket for most collectors, especiallywith the popularity of the vehicle, the fact that the world has too many Skylines and that paintwork that looks like it's etched onto to the car is simply a work of art.

DIECASTING COUCH

Additionally, who wouldn’t want this gorgeous Mustang Mach 1 in metallic Greenish Gold? There are lots of great details and, of course, opening parts, which Auto World has been doing for a long time, unlike some of the newer Chinese brands that have just started doing it.

And the future looks bright as the Earth aligns with Auto World in the shadow of Mercury. A gorgeous casting of the Mercury Cougar in two colours will appear soon, and both of these look like they will be some hot favourites, especially the orange one that looks like Parnelli Jones’ racing Cougar.

We can’t get enough of OTTO’s resin quality, and this goes straight onto the unendingWishlist. But this re-map of strategy from OTTO mobile is both pleasing and surprising because the collector community is currently gaga overJDM and need a new perspective on changing scale.

Unfortunately, being a resin modelthere are no opening parts but if you are able to peer inside you will see a well detailed interior accessible only by taking the car apart.

FANTA-STIC DATSUN

Tarmac Works with a Coca-Cola license is serious stuff. Unlike other brands that waste the license copying styles and branding, producing cliched designs, we’ve already seen some funky designs from Tarmac Works that represent the culture of Coke fans, like the Dajiban Van featuring the Coke LOGO from the ‘ALWAYS COCOCOLA’ campaign 1993. Everyone was singing that song across the world. When I saw the ‘Dajiban’ Van, that was the first thing I thought of.

Continuing the good vibes, Tarmac Works has this ultra beautiful 510 sporting some severe beach vibes and FANTA livery. We guarantee this will look stunning in your collection, which is a proper piece of motoring art and pop culture from Tarmac Works.

BBR Delivers atONE64

Having a FERRARI license to develop it in any scale is like mining lithium. Those who have it revel in the joy of releasing a model once in a while and having collectors go on mighty crusades for the holy grail type mission to acquire it. Those who don’t but have good relationships with those who do find a way, and those who don’t have any option risk international litigation with FERRARI. Which is kind of cool, if you can’t own a FERRARI, you can tell me people you got sued by FERRARI.

Fortunately, there will be no such shenanigans with BBR who already have a licence and have now swung into 1/64 scale action with the help of MINI GT having previously done only premium 1/18 models that cost a kidney and one small tow on the black market.

Body parts aside, you can tell with your unsold eyes that this piece is an underrated beauty. It is simple in terms of ‘simply got all the bits right’. The carbon fibre aerodynamic package has the weave to scale. The front and back grilles look perforated. There are lensed headlights, plastic in the front and back, and side mirrors, so you have to watch those. They are rigid and not flexible like MINI GT, meaning they will snap if you push them too hard.

If you are young and blessed with a youthful 20/20 vision, you will be shocked at the level of detail BBR has managed to cram into the cockpit of the tiny 269 GTB. If you don’t have fresh eyesight, take our word for it: “You will be shocked at the level of detail BBR has managed to cram into the cockpit of the tiny 269 GTB, down to the level of red trim on the dashboard, which houses steering smaller than a grain of rice.

Street Cred: Massive! FERRARI’S are always HAID (HOT AND IN DEMAND), and to have this in your collection lets you get away with not being able to get your hands on any of the TLVN FERRARI’S in the past. So, our advice to you would be horrible and make you spend more money and time trying to hunt this down for your collection.

The owner of Tarmac Works has always said that a bit of his personal passions has and will always reflect in the products that Tarmac Works produces. Thank God he has a pretty good taste in cars. I do not see them doing a Trabant any time soon. There is no such thing as an easy or simple casting and sometimes the ones that look simple enough are usually complicated with the little thingsovercompensatingforthelackofover-the-topaero packagesandwidenedbodies.

For example, the intricateness of both the front and rear main lights or the getting the right shape of the wheels consistently every time. No such thing as a simple casting. But Tarmac Works has excelled and met the challenge head on cracking a few conceptions along the way. LEGENDARYFOXES

Where do we start? These two cars are packed with so much American Motorsport history my hands quivered with excitement when I opened them to photograph. SALEEN has a wide array of Milestone cars specially in the 80’s when SALEEN PERFORMANCE was beginning to build on its racing reputation. Steve SALEEN was still very muchintoparticipatingbutwasalsoinvolvedinsettingupsomepivotalraceseriesthathavecontinuedtothisday.

One ofthemwas a series offourUS Based Endurance races one ofthembeinganalreadyscheduledraceatLimeRockfor6hours.

The others were 12 and 24 hours. In 1985 the SCCA (Sports Car ClubofAmerica)thoughttwouldmakeagreatseriesundertheir bannerandhelpedmakeitprofessionalwithaNationalSponsor:

The PlayboyUnited States Endurance Cup, rivalled bythe IMSA’s FirestoneFirehawkEnduranceChampionship.

Fortunately, after one season Playboy moves on and ESCORT RADAR WARNING RECEIVERS became top sponsor turning the event into the ‘ESCORT ENDURANCE CHAMPIONSHIP’ bringing in teams like SALEEN AUTOSPORT and their modified FOX BODY MUSTANGSNo.19andNo.20.

What was really progressive about the SALEEN AUTOSPORT team entry was the fact that they had a women’s driving team with a dedicated carpiloted byLISACACERES and DesireWilson. TheothercarwasdrivenbySteveSaleenandRickTitus.

Unfortunately, though the SALEEN team emerged victorious at the end ofthe ofthe season, itwas averytumultuous oneto say theleast.Oneoftheworstracesfortheteamwasthe6Hoursat BRAINERD. Both cars lost control with No.20 ending in an accident and No.19 penalised out of the race. But MoSport ONTARIO turns out to be a good track forthe team with them winning the Drivers’ChampionshipandtheConstructorstitleintheSSGTcategory of the series against the HURST PORSCHE. The team won 1st,3rdand4th.

“THE VICTORYAT MOSPORT WAS THE TURNING POINT FOR US” SAID SALEEN. “WE CAME BACK FROM OUR WORST FINISH OF THE YEAR AND PUT TOGETHER A 3-CAR EFFORT. THAT’S WHEN WE LEARNED ABOUT RACE TEAM MANAGEMENT”

Obviously true because the following year Steve Saleen won the Driver Championship again and the win at MoSport was even betterwith a 1-2-3 finish.

As a collector I feel proud to have these cars in my collection. The yellow one because it’s supreme historic value and meaning and the blue one, because Round2 has this cool concept for both their 1/64 lines of releasing an ‘A’ and ‘B’ version, was chosen as the alternative because it appeared as a tribute car to the original at the 2024 National Mustang Racers Association.

CASTHEADS KEEPPACE

When coming upwith ideasforourline ofcars inthe Majorette collaboration, the CH designerwantedto add a tribute to the IMSACORVETTE pace car. It’s hard to saythat we have not been influenced by allthe other brilliant brands having been exposed to the licensors they keep picking up. So, in a tribute to the IMSAracesthathavehadCORVETTEleadthepackwhenneeded, webringyoutheCastHeadsPacecar.

In collaborationwith Majorette,we just love howtheybrought ourideasto life even exceeding expectations specially in terms of colour reproduction. From the convertible shapetothefront hoodforward openingthisthing is a perfect beast perfectly complimented bythose brass gold 5 spoke wheels.

THECONTROVERSIAL DINOSPEEDERREXY

This is one ofthe coolestthingsto hitthe racetrack sincetobacco and alcoholbranding on race cars. Look, don’t be a prude. Howeverthis is more ‘U’ graded as theteam ownerhimselfwantedto liven upthe sport forhis kidsthrough designing his helmetwith dino characters.

So what does he do he moves his design idea on to the team cars. The result? Iconic favourite, this is one of those designs that will go down in the history books. And of course in the diecast world it has caused some controversy. The sort of dispute where letters from lawyers are served.

Fortunately, MINI GT doesn’t get any of those letters, which means this baby right is free from litigation and ifyou arethe proud ownerofone ofthese already, youwillbe gladto knowthatyou are part of what has become one of the biggest merchandising brands in motorsport in recent times. Fans cannot get enough ofthe brilliance that is REXY.

I’mtalking about reallypremium stuff.

With casting like this coming out we are completely excited to see what comes overthe horizon of 2025. One thing’s for sure Majorette celebrated their 60 years this year and they certainly brought the thunder.

At some point in our lives, we realise that our timeisveryshort, andwecan’tmissoutonanything important, enjoying life to its fullest. Ok the similarityto reallife isn’t necessary. But ifwe were imaging what mid-lifers would spend their money on in terms of cars maybe we could list out some possibly perfect cars forthe people that have it allexceptthe right ride. In, one sixtyfourscale.

AUDIABTRS6-R

GLACIERWHITE

It’s like a rocket with wheels. And the first thing I’m going to say about this casting is… LOK ATTHE WHEELS! Details in 1/64 have grown in leaps and bounds due to modern technology and it is quite clearthe MINI GTis usingthistechnologyin bucket loads. Because getting those wheels cut like that consistently wheel after wheel is going to take a really expensive piece of equipment. But then the CEO ofMINI GTGlen has always beenthe ‘spare no cost to get it right’ kind of guy right down to the paint choice oftheir models.

With attention to detail like this you can be sure the rest of the casting is going to be fine. The problem with AUDI is that they are so simple in terms of design. Even a flashy ABT trim addition isn’t so flashy. If you were to get an AUDI in 7 different colours you would have non-descript in 7 colours. No wonder most international spies in movies use AUDI’s.

THE‘POVERTY ANDWIDOW’ MAKER

This gorgeous casting in dark metallic green is the perfect recreation of one of the rarest cars in the world. The details of the MECUM auctioned beauty are on the card. One of the most extraordinary things about AUTO WORLD and JOHNNY LIGHTNING is that the cards have exciting facts aboutthe cars ortheiroriginalpaint codes. Gorgeous paint finish, opening hood with a semi-detailed engine—this is a winning choice for collectors of DAYTONA SUPERBIRDS.

We call it a widow maker because, in real life, this car is one of the most powerful of its kind, and super birds have those massive spoilers at the back because they were bred to drag. We call it the poverty maker because it sold over 1.3 million dollars. Can you imagine having a pension that can coverthat bill?

THEFAMILYM3 MONSTERin ISLEOFMAN GREEN

In a twist of green fate, we have another beautifully painted dark green model perfect for the grocery run. It also teaches those young whippets in their ‘first-time drivers’ pocket rockets a lesson or two about being able to afford something better—another simple yet lovely piece from the guys who have been giving the mass-production brands a headache.

Good castings with great details at great prices. The paint is gorgeous, and we have no complaints about the colour, the finish, orthe smoothness. The carbon fibre extra bits that turn this from an average estate into an M estate are pristine in detailand effect, andthose M Rims are perfectlyetched.

THECEOAT HOMETARMAC WORKSSCLASS

As a recent Mercedes owner, I can see the allure of immersing oneself in Mercedes' culture. Having one is something special; once you do, you want everything associated with it, which is probablywhythere are more Mercedes-Benz clubs worldwide than UN offices.

Thiswould appealtothe crowdthat appreciates qualityand attentiontothefinerdetails, like thetinyMercedeshoodornament.It'squintessential.AnyMercedesownerwouldscoffatthe thought of a replica being made without it. And many diecast model makers do leave it out. That’s what sets them apart from Tarmac Works, who understand the psyche of Mercedes owners. Wewillsee plentymore ofthese coming fromTarmac Works. I hope thatwewill see a W211 2003 Model release soon.

When the car gods handed out HALO cars, Nissan, Toyota, Honda, Mazda and Subaru got the lion's share, especially when building street racing and drift icons. The Eclipse and the 3000GT were somewhat thought-provoking but not as memorable as a MUGEN TYPE R CIVIC, as epic as a Skyline, or even artistically beautiful like the TOYOTA 2000GT or Supra series.

BUT MITSUBISHI WEREN’T INTERESTED IN DELIVERING

Mitsubishi already had a reputation for building big, reliable equipment. Trucks, buses, earthmovers, transporters— anything heavy and daunting—Mitsubishi would build it with wheels and an engine. This tough industrial attitude to design and production permeatedthroughtheirmotorsport DNA, resulting in numerous rallyvictories beginning in 1973.

Two series of models set the standard for Mitsubishi. One was the king of Dakkar, the mighty short-wheelbase Pajero, and then subsequentlyfollowed the reign ofthe Evolution. The Lancer EVO happened quite byaccident. Engineers at the Mitsubishi plant decided to install the mighty GALANT VR-4 engine, turbocharged and linked to an all-wheel drive train, into the smaller-bodied LANCER, with astounding results that shocked even the car gods.

The first Lancer EVO had two trims: Super Fast and Superfast forthe executive level. Theywere known as the RS and the GSR. The RS version was tuned and honed to be a missile on wheels. The GSR version was also tuneable but had creature comforts to please the dad-bod types. A family carthat has the sting of a poisonous scorpion.

LAST MONTH, WE SAW THE GLOBAL RELEASE OF THE TARMAC WORKS VERSION OF THE GSR EVOLUTION FIRST IN GUNMETAL GREY, AND THEY FOLLOWED IT UP WITH A RED VERSION AS WELL. THE GREY VERSION IS UNIQUE BECAUSE IT IS IN A BOX CONTAINING A SET OF TRADING CARDS EXCLUSIVE TO THE EVOLUTION GSR SET.

TW has been making EVOs for a while now, and some of their best releases include the Tommi Makinenversions, so it's no surprisethatwe look atthese great casting choicesthatwould please anyEVOfan as a punch. Butwait. Sign up nowto getthe EVO 1 intwo colours:the Greymetallic and gorgeous red. You also get the opportunityto get yourself an EVO 3 in black with white OZ wheels.

I guarantee you this is not something you would want to pass up easily. In the model-collecting world, a gorgeous Charger like this is as desirable as The Rock joining you at your class reunion to let some old-school bullies knowwhat the Rock is cooking. Muscle anytime.

OTTO MOBILE ANDTHE VTEC TWINS

OTTO Mobile is back with a new vibe and new mission: to bring some crazy new models and castings to the shelves of fans across the world. Some of them are old castings that were so good and popular that they were re-released in a colour variation. At CastHeads, we got the first CIVIC Mugen in white about a year ago, and we just got the release in red, so we’d go through the changes and see who’s better.

ESSENTIALLY,

both arethe same inweight and height. You know, the usual dimensions andthe differences apart from the colours are very subtle. The front grille and hood are intwo different styles, with the older version applying amore comprehensive air intake. The rear wings are also uniquely different, with the older one opting for something more mechanical and daunting-looking, whereas our newer red example has optedforsomethingalittlemoreold-school.

WHEELS!

What a choice to make. Ultimately, the decision is yours. The internal office has been divided over this issue. Both have great merit and incredible detail, which is more than one can ask for—gold for the white version and black for the red. These are fantastic combinations, but the cars are also ideal for swapping parts over and maybe even a spot of modification if you dare!
