WHO DOESN’T LOVE A SUITABLE TRANSPORTER?!?
GL has more than a few good pieces; they have a lot and will release a new wave of models, new tooling, and fresh details. Until then, let us not forget the extensive line of existing models that are available in abundance across the world.
Fitting into our theme, this issue, GL delivers a 1972 Chevy C-30 Ramp Truck and a 1976 Chevy Chevelle Laguna friend. Both are dressed in matchymatchy livery from the famous detailing brand Amour All. GL has several category brands, and this one is classed under ‘HD Trucks.’
We love that it is an Armor All livery product because in terms of livery, though it’s a famous brand, it doesn’t get much coverage in the world of diecast, like FALKEN and ADVAN, for example. The car was confusing because the nose looked more like a Camaro, but the rest of the body seemed off. This was when I remembered that assumption is the mother of many problems and revisited the packaging, where we realized it was, in fact, a Chevy Chevelle Laguna, which also sounds like the name of a dodgy radio presenter.
Unlike the SS, the Laguna was a little less muscle; it skipped a few leg days and missed a few arm days. It was more like America’s version of a small car, which wasn’t very small. But if there was one thing the Laguna was known for, it was its tremendous grip. This was an advantage against other cars when torque did the talking.
DOYOUWANTGUYSWITHTHAT?
If there is one thing that will make your diorama pop, it would be the amount of detail you’ve got in the background to bring out that realism. But how do you get realism into your city diorama when everything is a supercar, classic motorsport, or tuned drifter? Fortunately, a few brands still bring the magic of scale models with a healthy catalogue of vehicles that don’t subscribe to the trends.
We love the GL trucks that drop onto our tables for review, especially utility trucks like this funky cement mixer, which looks like the daily driver for someone like Gene Simmons. Other than the mixer barrel turning, there aren’t many other opening parts or moveable bits, but it is a very cool cement mixer, and in real life, I would be really proud to have one of these Macks parked and working down the road.
They are a step above being toys, which means they fit straight into your super highend collection with some mid-range detail without you having to worry about breaking into your budget too badly. At the same time, they provide the essential props for your scale world with some flavor.

Importantly, we want everyone to have the chance to own one piece or the whole set without it being impossible for some. Even scalpers can go to town if they wish to. There is plenty for everyone.
Secondly, Majorette does some excellent castings, and they gave us carte blanche on the castings; the respective car brands approved each design. They have suspension, which works great with the gift set designed by CastHeads representing the Rally and Rally Cross sides of Motorsport.

I'm pleased that the headlights look realistic because Majorette uses plastic lights. Mud stains across the side could also indicate that the vehicle may have met with a tribe of rude poo-flinging monkeys. But for civilisation's sake, we refer to it as mud.
The rear roof can be removed to allow for more photographic options, and of course, our resident STEEG is ready to drive the wheels of our Rally Support BRONCO.
LUXURYSUPPORT G WAGON
BUILT TO BE THE MERCEDES THAT GOT DOWN AND DIRTY, THE G WAGON IS A REGULAR IN MAJORETTE’S LINEUP. WE ARE GLAD TO ADD OUR BRANDED VERSION TO THE EXTENSIVE VARIATION LIST OF G WAGS BY MAJORETTE.
However, because we are severely biased, we reckon this one is the coolest for the following reasons: It’s rocking an all-new wheel design recently added to their wheel sets for off-road vehicles. Second, Green bodywork with orange plastic gives the Wagon a ‘ready for anything the desert throws at us’ look. Third, it's got Castheads branding on it!

WITH A NOD TO THE FAMOUS CAMEL RACING AND CAMEL TROPHY DAYS, WE INTRODUCE THE LAND ROVER DEFENDER, COMPLETE WITH ALP GRAPHICS ON THE REAR QUARTER PANELS TO BREAK THE MUNDANE AND ADD ARTISTIC FLAVOUR TO THE OVERALL DESIGN.
It’s a great casting, with Majorette making a perfect replica as always. We love how they have recreated our graphics and ideas onto all the castings, especially the DIRT cars that sport mud and roughness.

IF CASTHEADS COULD DO A TUNER RACER BASED ON THE MODEL OF A PRE21ST-CENTURY CAR….. OH WAIT, WE DID MAKE ONE. NOT IN REAL LIFE, BUT IF IT WERE IN REAL LIFE, THIS WOULD BE A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT MAGAZINE.
We got filthy for part of the Dirt & Track set and did the grittiest Merc we could do within reasonable production parameters. Are we proud of ourselves? Of course! Black, sporty 6-star rims, bright yellow casting, and dirty graphics. When we say dirty, we mean dirt-looking graphics.
Opening parts are the doors, allowing our mini Steeg access to what he feels is the best out of the series, but we have one more car.
THE CLOFORD

There is no way we were going to, ignore a classic addition and the perfect model to rep that muscle machine addition to the series so dressed in classic FORD racing colours with the added touch of CastHeads getting rough with tarmac stains on the bodywork.
Majorette’s Mustang line has always been a great casting, and we were ecstatic to be able to add this to the CastHeads series overall. We have a large collection of Majorette ‘stangs’ on display and this will be not just a great addition, but also a symbol of pride for us.

Established in 1938, Datsun started out to be the name in small town logistics. From it’s very product the pickup, through the decades the brand has upgraded, updated and the brand has lived a very full life. Like TOYOTA has the HILUX, NISSAN bought DATSUN and together the two pickup trucks have ruled lands globally from being used by UN aid workers to get through some of the toughest terrain while being shot at, to being used by insurgents and terrorists to get through some of toughest terrain to shoot at UN aid workers.

This one is probably one of the most famous and widely used models across the planet and built in many countries as well. In Taiwan it was known as ‘Yue Loong Thunderbird 755’ in Chile ‘Nissan 1800/J18’ in good old Colombia it was the ‘Junior 720’ Thailand called in the ‘Nissan Professional’ and in Mexico it was the ‘Datsun Estaquitas’. Officially it was commonly known as the Datsun / NISSAN 720
Released this month in the TLVN line, TOMYTEC gives us the 720 in both the original colours, period correct white painted steelies, perfect badging and stickering as the actual model. Who are we kidding really, it’s a TLVN it is going to be perfect. But wait…. There is more!!! ORDER NOW and you will be able to acquire these beauties before they go out of stock because they have really awesomely cool ‘active suspension’. You can now pose your 4x4 models on anything and adjust the suspension to make sure all steelies are on the ground.

MINI GT seem to be everywhere these days, and they certainly have their hands fullwith countlessmodelscomingintoexistenceand they still manage to find a wayto ‘WOW’the crowd with some really awesome castings. But at the same time there is a level headed side that say’s hang on, we need to keep up the range with the usual diversified selection of real world, classic, stock cars for the collectors who like that sort ofthing.
I personally have not collected Landy’s from any other diecast maker simply because I haven’t had a burning desire to own every Landy casting created. But I do like the MINI GT casting and have many variations only from MINI GT.
ThisisthenewCOUNTYLandRoverDefenderandasyoucanseeit’snotasexciting as a Tommy Kaira Skyline or LBWK SILVIA but as a casting it is flawless. MINI GT have been doing Land Rovers from the time they began and when the first came out Land Rover fan people were going ga ga about the detail. Good news! That hasn’t changed, and as MINI GT keeps churning out different versions, trims and colourvariationswewillhappilykeep lappingthem up.
When MINI GT announced their first Mercedes Actros release, there was a keen sense of excitement in the wind. Everyone was waiting to see how MINI GT deliveredinacategorythatwaspopularbuthauntedwithbeingthewrongscale,made mostlyoutofplasticandmostofthemdidn’tcomeclosetoareal-worldworldfeel.

MINI GT have also got a great understanding with American Diorama which means the casting comes with its own set of metal figures and accessories. When it comes to realism in truck models MINI GT is pretty hardtobeat.Firstofall,becauseeverythingisallmetal,all3sections,the cab, the trailer and the container are quite heavy. Speciallythe container, don’t drop it. Notoe deservesthat.
Other than the fact that this behemoth is perfect in casting, there are a few other features that are worth the mention. Like the front tyres turn from sideto side.The containerstabilizeris extendable and ofcoursethe doorsatthebackareoperationalsothatyoucandoplentyofloadingand unloading shoots.

AcrosstheglobetheA-Teamwas a beacon of hope for underdogs, Relatable characters based on a band of friends which always lends opportunity for character development over the series making the series as realistic as possible from a human emotion perspective and they needed a vanto carryallofthis around.
The A-Team VANDURA is an evergreen product in Greenlights portfolio which amazingly can be bought in any scale from GreenLight the smallest being 1/64 andthe largest modeltheyhave ofthe van is 1/12 scale sold undertheir Bespoke line.
Already having the 1/64 and 1/43 in our collection, gettingourhandscourtesyofGreenlightonthe1/24 is helping us creep slowly towards that multi scale goal of collecting one of the most recognisable and best-lookingversionsoftheGMCVandura..
Sadly,onlythefrontdoorsopenalthoughthesliding doorwas used for dramatic disembarking scenes in the episodes, there was a bit of hope, but it didn’t pan out. Everything else though looks perfect and I remember why I used to like vans, bull bars and overhead lights. This was the van I wanted growing up and to be honest I think I stillwant one for real.
JADA KEEPS IT SIMPLE AND SCORES

There is no doubt in my mind that this is outstanding! Chevy’s designs from the 80’s bellow muscley tones, unexciting box shaped brute shaped design, wearing all black and then after you have gone lower than low, you see the shoes. Bright, shiny, crisp equivalent to the finest crepe a shoe connoisseur can deliver from his collection, everyone who knows fashion knows the simplest body can look stunning with the right shoes.
And so, we admire this great casting with the perfect rims at all angles, opening parts and revealing the usual list of bits JADA put in, to its 1/24 scales. I specify 1/24 because JADA have gone a scale up and now have certain models in 1/18 but that’s left for another article.
Apart from the fact that wheels on this are so perfectly matched, the rest of the casting falls in line withbeingagreatpieceasapickuptruckfanIwould personallyliketo havethis on mydesk even ifitwas to hold the post it notes in the reartrailer.
The rear trailer bed is matt while the rest of the body is gloss black. Nice contrast. The interior is as bare as the actualvehicle but you can see that JADA didn’t want it to be flat so the dashboard and front console have indentations for the a/c vents as well as stickered meters for the rev counters. The engine, although it’s allin chrome has afewdistinctive parts, like the forced induction airfilter, which ifyou like can be painted overfor more definition..
And to be honest, I think we will see a lot of these in various colours and trims very shortly. I think it is safe to say that we can expect (we are assuming, and we have HAD NO CONFIRMATION from SOLIDO), or we can predict a PANDEM version or something similar, some JTCC versions, a STREET FIGHTER version, and the following stock colours will be red and black. We are not forgetting some predictions from the MUGEN and TYPE R versions.
DUALLY MEANS WIDEBODY
AnotherflagshipintheChevyPickuplineand that would be the Silverado. Two massive rear tyres on each side give the vehicle that widebody look but US pickup have been doingthisforalongtimeandthetechnology iscalledDually.
The reason for this truck to exist is to pull reallyheavyloadswithincreasedstabilityin headwinds. Pulling a couple of horses to the range the last thing you need is high gusts ofwindpushingyourtrailerallovertheroad draggingyourtrackfromsidetoside.

JADA’stunedupversionlooksquitesmartinmetallicburgundybodywithametallicgreyroof, hoodandtrailerbed.Itlooksabsolutelymeanandbeastlyspeciallywiththelargerearfenders, butthiswouldbefantasticifJADAdidatrailertogowiththis.Andwhenonethinksaboutit,with such an awesome ‘JUST TRUCKS’ division you would expect JADA to have some pretty insane trailerstogowiththesetrucks.
ANOTHER GREAT TRUCK BUT IF IT WAS UP TO ME A NICE BURGUNDY BULL BAR AND SOME SLEEK OVERHEAD LIGHTS WOULD MAKE IT PERFECT.

The car in the game was SUBURU #3 driven by Colin McRae, but Subaru TEAM PRODRIVE had a second team car driven by Italian driver Piero Liatti. Car No. #4 The team started the 97’ season in Monte Carlo with both cars completing the course unfortunately Colin McRae’s car sustained accident damage but the second PRODIVE Subaru piloted by Piero took 1st place!
SOLIDO HAVE DONE BOTH CARS REALLY WELL AND THERE IS NO WAY RALLY FANS CAN PASS UP THE OPPORTUNITY TO OWN BOTH CARS FROM THE SAME RACE. EVEN HARDCORE PLAYSTATION RALLY FANS ARE NOT GOING TO PASS UP THIS OPPORTUNITY.
The replication of the car with regards to the exterior are perfect comparing the scale model with the actual car and this is SOLIDO quality which hasn’t let its fans down to date. Also, if you are a Subaru collector and fan you would know that the PRODRIVE version is different to the road going version what you may not know is that SOLIDO has the road going version as well so you can help yourself to a stunning Subaru Collection in 1/18.
JUST ME AND MY MAISTO JEEP WRANGLER RUBICON

Like most of the cars in our collection we would like to own a couple in real life with unlimited financial resources needed to maintain and insure such treasures. For me this model of JEEP Wrangler is a Modern Classic in the making and probably one of the most refined versions of this 4x4 known as the Rubicon. Named after the Rubicon Trail that connected Lake Tahoe to Georgetown and Wrangler with the Rubicon moniker was known to be the epitome of JEEP’s range when it came to conquering the outdoors. The Rubicon trail itself is known to be one of the most unhospitable places on the planet and a portion of this trail is used to test JEEP vehicles.

The coolest thing about this model form Maisto as always is the sort of details you get at the price point; they sell these at. For example, hood straps, even if they are made of rubber, on a 1/18 model it is a feature usually reserved for something more expensive. But here it is on this gorgeous Dark Blue Wrangler locking the bonnet in place like a proper JEEP. Pop the locks and you will be surprised to see that the attention to detail continues. In fact, the newer engines from Maisto have been take up a notch with better engine detail, interior detail and of course body detail.
This is a well put together, well thought of execution and the designer in charge of this genius should get an awesome WOOHOO! From all of us CastHeads arounds the world. The only things that I would personally add to it is a nice Bull bar and overhead lights.
