Pop Race GR Yaris Pandem
We have seen a few iterations of this model, first with the white and then the ADVAN livery. Few more are available, but this version tops the list of GR Yaris models from Pop Race. Covered in delectable red metallic paint, its and ideal street version without too much graphical noise.
There are times we like it dirty, and other time, clean AF. And this is one of those times.
The redesigned ‘71 Charger combined modern “fuselage” styling with brute horsepower creating a one-year-only rare Super Bee. In fact, this “Top Banana” Bee was only 1-of-30 built with the V code 440 Six Pack and a 4-speed transmission. Now that’s one rare ride!
Auto World has replicated this high-horsepower honey in exacting 1:18 scale detail. The factory Top Banana paint is spotless, while the V6X Sport option gives this Bee its stripes. Hidden headlights may trick the competition into thinking this bumble isn’t ready to rumble, but the Super Bee graphics let you know she’ll sting when ready. An opening hood displays the 440 big block painted in Hemi Orange, ready to transfer that power from the 4-speed transmission to the Goodyear tires. So grab this banana and peel out!

We love the variety in a single release, and to have two versions, with the limited edition thrown in, is fantastic.

AutoWorld Premium 2023 Release 3 Version A
This release is very American muscle heavy, but happy that they also threw in the new Nissan Z in to the mix with not one, but TWO brand new toolings. The 2023 Nissan Z is a brand new mold and we are happy that AW is doing it. The second is the 2021 Dodge Charger.
Overall a great selection to a collector that likes American metal. The Z just adds a little 'zest' to the collection.

Johnny Lightning Military 2023 Release 1 Korean War Version A
JL keeps the military collection expanding. While we saw some WWII Pacific Theatre models last time, this time is the models from the Korean conflict. Harsh winters proved difficult for both sides and the vehicles used in the war saw some extreme conditions.
JL offers a winter themed collection of ground vehicles in Version A and a summer version in Version B. Most of the models feature opening parts and clean rolling wheels.
And would look great in any military history buffs collection.

A truly sizzling sport sedan, the Giulia GTA is one of the hottest to come out of Alfa Romeo in the past few years. The GTA is the more road and grand touring focused of the two models, and its color is spot on.
The more track-ready version from Alfa Romeo, the Giula GTAm features an adjustable rear spoiler, and it has only two seats with a roll cage. While it may seems the changes are small, they are very different cars.

BUGATTI DIVO
RED METALLIC
This sizzling Bugatti Divo comes down from MINI GT in a red metallic finish that just suits it to a T. The Silver metal rims just pops on the model which sits on a base of carbon fiber feeling all around. The details like the little tricolore sits well just behind the front wheel.
Forget the HULK he goes from puny to hero, but this green megaton goes from beast to full on beasty. First let’s address the beast in the room (terrible pun we know), this GT-R comes done in a really nice satin like paint finish but in a fantastic shade of green that makes light reflection on the body really ‘pop’. Coupled with what we see as a constantly improving graphic motif, the tuner series is doing a good thing for the designers at Majorette giving them a chance to stretch their creativity. Add on some really cool body works in neon blue and we have a winning contribution.
NISSAN GTR
We also strongly approve of Majorettes
GT-R casting. We love how meaty they have made this car look giving it the aggressive stance that the NISSAN deserves. Sadly there are some brands who like to turn the R35 into a pancake. whaaaaaat.
Touch the sunrise with this hot retro looking Dodge Charger. Sunrise red, a touch of fiery gold that cracks the blue sky and the candy font Dodge on either side gives you that 70’s vibe without the flower power. Just straight up funk power. Pop the hood off and replace with the Majorette engine tune up in bright neon orange along with some side exhaust and boom the funk machine explodes into mad fury. Roll cage included in case of extreme drag racing on the tarmac.
DODGE CHARGER
MAJORETTE TUNE-UP'S
DODGE CHARGER
MAJORETTE TUNE-UP'S
DODGE CHARGER
Charger No.2 in the collection and this one look’s battle ready. Dubbed the Green Machine we’ve got one that resembles WW2 flying machines even though it has a 1969 stamp on the rear in US ARMY stencil font. This is the, all American, even the body modifications look like Fast n Furious Charger mods (think it was Fast 6 that had the offroad Charger) Even Dodge is re-thinking the ‘Charger’ name to ‘Vin’s Ride’. No they aren’t, we kid. No change in the casting but it is a pretty good casting and a good for the Charger fans.
MERCEDES G WAGON
Run Forest Run! Ok maybe we are getting carried away with the movies and music references, but it was irresistible. We have waxed lyrical time and time again about this casting and that’s because Majorette have a fantastic line up of these and the keep doing them well. Metallic blue sporting the new ultra-modern camo design that seems to be getting really popular on cars and its an interesting colour combination with shades of pink. We really love the fact that the front grille has been given that sharp bright pink as well, making it look more aggressive. Who knew pink could swing that way. On top of that, the add on body work for this tuner comes in the mot neon green you have ever seen, almost glow in the dark green. If you wanted to say this is quite loud, you would be right.
TOYOTA HIACE
Rolling in with a beautiful deep dark blue, this famous people mover is going to be a firm fav amongst the Asian HiAce collectors. This is a super popular van probably becoming as iconic as the VW (could the Hiace topple the VW crown? Only time will tell) Till then it remains Asia’s favourite and always finds a place amongst the Majorette Tuner series. Once the wide body kit goes on, the van immediately looks lowered and resembles a vacuum cleaner. The jury with us is still not out in the argument of vans getting tuned some of us are still not sure while many people would sell their last goat to get their hands on this.
VIPER STRIKES WITH A
The big question is Will this be the last one? Or, will Tarmac Works release more of these bad boys in variating colors and race versions. Our hope is that they will continue to milk this beast because the world could do with less Skylines and more Dodge Vipers. And, not just the ACR versions either. Dodge has a fantastic line of Vipers beginning from the first generation of head turning sports cars and we mean so much torque your head will do the turning while piloting said vehicle.
WeloveTarmacWorksandtheirchoice ofcarswithanicemixofinternational icons,itsgettinghardtokeepupwith thesebrilliantreleases.
Any company that produces the Dodge VIPER in any form or scale should be blessed with immense sales for the rest of their lives. In this case long live Tarmac works and their sublime Dodge Viper ACR release. Dropped under the Global64 series, yes it rolls which is something that VIPER collectors are going to be very pleased about.
But there are a few other things that a VIPER fan can crow about, not just rolling wheels. To date this is the best version of a Dodge VIPER in 1/64 scale we have seen. The HotWheels Viper looks more like Danny DeVito, Majorette does a better job but so far for detail Tarmac Works new, ACR VIPER is kicking ass.
SUPER LUXURY
SPORTS CARS
MINI GT is no stranger to detailed 1/64 models and these new luxury sports sedans look amazing. In fact, a recent chat with collectors in the UK has us understanding that MINI GT popularity is growing really well and the main point has been the attention to detail and the way MINI GT is growing HOTWHEELS collectors out of that brand and into theirs.
When MINI GT first introduced the Bentley BACALAR, we lost our minds. It was as beautiful as the real thing and the only way middle class plebs like us can have a go at owning one. What makes MINI GT so special is that the colours chosen for their models are usually the same factory created colours that go on the car. This is also one of the benefits of having proper licenses from the manufacturers so that we get cars in perfect detail right down to the paint code.
Getting a second one from MINI GT is just a treat because in real life the Bacalar has been commissioned to be built by only 12 customers so far and Bentley are in no hurry to increase those orders keeping it super exclusive. The new release by MINI GT is based on Bentley’s test car which was decked out in that great dark racing green. It even has the stamp on the side saying it is the test version. That’s how close Bentley play it, they don’t want people to even think that there is a colour variation for sale.
The wheels roll and of course one of the coolest things about this car are those tornado type rims specifically designed by Bentley which, MINI GT has done a brilliant job in 1/64. In total this casting is just as good as the first one which was epic. It even paired well with our scalite half body figure.
From exclusive to something a little more attainable in the real world. The BMW M4 Competition in Sao Paulo Yellow (it looks more green if you ask us) but in terms of details once again MINI GT has killed it. We especially once again, love the detail on the wheels which is not an easy thing to replicate.
From Bentley to BMW these super luxury speeders from MINI GT are becoming fast favourites and the world is demanding more and more and more.
Tarmac Works
just keeps surprising with new models in incredible styles combining pop culture with car and scale model culture which is something we absolutely love!
‘One Piece’ is a Manga comic turned series and even animated movie with a huge following across the world. It is so popular that it gained an entry in the Guiness Book of Records for "the most copies published for the same comic book series by a single author".
Not an easy feat believe us we’ve tried. But that’s not all, the series has won several accolades for breaking both print and animation records globally so if you are like us who haven’t gotten into the phenomena yet obviously it’s worth the time.
For Tarmac Works it is a great opportunity to get in with pop culture and make use of some the awesome casting they have coupling them with unique art from the series based on the characters.
MONKEY D
successful in the TARMAC WORKS portfolio.
RORONOA
Luffy’s loyal crew mate and master swordsman whose main aim in life is to be the best swordsman there is. You can find him on the awesome VW T2 Transporter with white and mint green colours and of course awesome graphics of the sword fighter. Even better is the fact that all the cars have different character graphics on both sides. One side shows Roronoa using his 3-sword technique.
NAMI
A cat burglar and navigator whose claim to fame is unburdening pirates of their gold. But she joins the Luffy rag tag team of pirates and is the voice of reason and balance. Probably why she’s best represented by a car of similar qualities. In real life owning one could take all your money but also a reasonable drift car with perfect balance and reason. Fortunately, a 1/64 version can save you bank and still be exciting.
TONY TONY
Cue the cute relief! This character is a non-human part of the team having eaten the Devil Fruit and turned from reindeer to some sort of Candy Floss loving half human half reindeer with no glowing red nose. Its cuteness in the pack is represented by a VW T1 bus. Candy Floss pink is the main colour matching the attitude of Chopper. The van is also matched with pink wheel hub covers and the casting is shared with Schuco making it a perfect to add to your collection.
USOPP
Is a natural born pirate who acts as the team’s sniper and has pirating in his blood. Heritage character again perfectly paired with a heritage model. The Datsun 510 wagon from Tarmac Works is awesome and this version is epic. Bright yellow with bronzed wheels this something that would be awesome have even in real life as a 1:1. TW has made great use of this casting and its quite inspirational using it on this car. This will make a great addition to their existing line up of Datsun Wagons.
Vinsmoke
Pretty much the sleeper of the crew. Unassuming but deadly with super kicking power. Because he won’t damage the hands that cook amazing food for Luffy and gang. Represented by another great sleeper known as the TOYOTA CHASER. Also well sought after in real life. Coloured in sky blue with bronze wheel rims this long body car is perfect to demonstrate Sanji’s long kicking power. His mission in life is to find the ‘All Blue’. An ocean where all the worlds’ fish live together, and a chef can make any fish dish he wants.
McLaren Passion in 1/43
In the last issue we spoke of the revival of 1/43 scale cars which, are slowly gaining popularity due to the new castings that keep getting released. Here we have SOLIDO with a gorgeous version of the McLaren 765 LT. First, the most striking thing about this is the colour and the paint finish. Perfect in LIME GREEN as well as McLarens favourite colour PAPYA ORANGE. This fruit salad of speed has been painted in metallic colours and overcoated to give you that glossy smooth finish.
Details are pretty good for a 1/43 scale almost as good as a 1/24 car but you have to be a little careful because there are no opening parts, even though the doors do look like they open we made the mistake of trying to open them and ended up with the out panel in our hands, no opening parts.
At the end of the day these are perfect display models that fit comfortably on your shelves or desktop with more detail than your detailed 1/64. For the collectors of 1/43 scale models these are epic AND the super great new is there are more awesome models slated for the coming months. SOLIDO is rocking it like a baby’s cradle with this scale, oh and the price? The best prices you can find on the market for fantastic detail.
Most collectors, we are sure, would like to turn most of their little diecast autos into track day monsters. But most of us cannot fathom the fine art of customization that many others across the world find it so easy to do. Fingers too large, failing eyesight, and the ability to create a diety-awful mess means that most of us just wait for the racing version to catch up to the street version... or vice versa.
CCA, or as they proudly proclaim, Cool Chic Auto (part of MSZ or Metal Speed Zone) has come up with a 2-in-1 diecast model kit that gives almost any collector, the chance to turn a street car into a racing version of itself with a simple, easy as pie, method. With just a click (or few actually) you can turn your street tough 2018 Ford Mustang GT into a slick track day zoomer.
appleThekitcomesinanalreadyassembledstreetversion.Candy redwithracingstriperightdownthemiddle.Theracing fender,kitcomprisesofhoodwithracingtampos,frontfacia,rearwing/ scratchplate,engine(withbitsthatgoovertheengine!),Basicallyturbosetup,radiatorandfourgoldmulti-spokewheels.whatareal-worldwouldneedtogofromDrJekyllto MrHyde.
The fender setup is held in place by the tiny Mustang logos. The engine setup just click into place, just like the rear wing. Its just satisfying to play with it. Fueling your imagination of being a racing mechanic.
Did we tell you that it has opening parts like doors (you get one of those little door opening thingys) and the front hood does open to display the engine. All in all, it's a great experience to have a car (many more to come) geared towards those who like to meddle with their models. These aren't in the realm of collectibles yet, but the build quality isn't bad, and its straddles the line between collecting and play. Which isn't a bad place for a diecast automaker to be in right now. Right now they are big in China, but hoping to reach out to more markets worldwide and CastHeads will be there to bridge them and collectors across the planet.
JADA IS ON A ROLL PEOPLE!
They have got the licenses to build and they are using it to maximum advantage. For us we missed the POWER RANGERS fad by a generation, however whether you are a POWER RANGER fan or not you will appreciate the cars that JADA has done.
JADA’S GOT THE POWER
We picked these two out of the set because holy enchiladas look at that RX-3 Savanna. It really is epic AND it is not something you see everyday in our world of scale models. So this is quite the treat getting it in 1/24 scale along with a metal diecast figurine for the hardcore POWER RANGER fan. Love the metallic blue paint work which changes shades of blue in different lighting. Its not chameleon paint but the finish is spot on. JADA has even thrown some cheeky tuner branding as well on the doors along with power rangers logo.
The wide body mods make the RX-3 look as as aggressive as a wild boar with its short wheel base by wide haunches over the wheels and of course JADA has all opening parts giving the collector who likes customising stuff a great canvas to work off.
The yellow Charger repping the Yellow Power Ranger comes with a metal diecast figure as well and will certainly brighten up your collection shelf (we recommend parking it next to JADA Hello KITTY skyline for maximum brightness) unlike the RX-3 the Charger is well known to be in everyone’s portfolio from 1/64 to 1/12 and is probably the second most made American Muscle car in scale models after the Mustang. Nevertheless, we love the colour and we like the madness it brings to the collection even though we are not familiar with the POWER RANGERS.
JADA’S GOT THE POWER
with Jhonny Cecotto
TRIP BACK IN STYLE
WHO THE HECK IS JHONNY CECOTTO?
Hailing from South America this Venezuelan son of a motorcycle shop owner turned wheels from a pretty young age developing himself into one the most prolific motorcycle racers in the world almost like a precursor to modern greats like Valentino Rossi. Unsatisfied with just running the motorcycle circuit Cecotto got involved with four wheeled racers going all the way up the chain to the pinnacle of Motorsport which was Formula 1. Unfortunately, while building his F1 career a tragic accident left him with two broken legs and his F1 days were cut short.
BMW M5 E34But that was just F1. Cecotto continued in both the DTM and BTCC circuits spending a lot of time driving BMW’s. Which brings us to this excellent piece by OTTO mobile which is replication of the Cecotto version of the M5. Of course, what makes this so special is lost on the fact that you can’t drive it or get a look at the interior but what we do know is that it is modelled after the car that Cecotto chose with the different options that he wanted. They then produced a limited version of 22 cars according to the same specs and called it the Cecotto version. Which was sold in Lagoon Green or Mauritius Blue.
OttoMobile
drops this beauty and a must have for any BMW fans whether they collect the scale version or the real version. We love the Lagoon Green as the chosen colour and of course this era of BMWs as most would agree is probably one of the most desirable. If you are new to OTTO Mobile than take a moment to scroll through our pages and take a nice long appreciative look at how well the design tea have folded all the period correct designs into place from the 80 styled headlamps to the rubberized bumper guards to that classic kidney grille that has long gone and meta morphed into industrial sized nostrils. Ah yes this was the time where even the most ungracious plebs looked executive in a BMW.
Yes, the car is sealed but you can still catch a glimpse of the inside the way you steal a look through the window of a FERRARI parked outside that fancy hotel you just attended a wedding at. You will peer mournfully into the car as you again, recognise good old 80s design that reminds you of the time your dad dropped this behemoth into second to thrash that Mitsubishi Lancer to the intersection while you screamed in glee at the sudden G Force that pushed back into the seat. Good times, that’s what this car does, reminds you of the good times.

As CASTHEADS and motor heads we are really excited about the partnership between FORMULA 1 and PUMA Motorsport becoming the official brand for F1. To clear up confusion PUMA was previously the preferred brand for most teams like FERRARI, AMG PETRONAS and of course RED BULL but now as sponsor of the entire F1 group as well producing and selling fanwear from all teams at all F1 events. This also means that fans like you and me will be able to pick PUMA + F1 branded gear similar to what the officials and staff of F1 will be wearing which will also be made by PUMA.
Why has F1 signed up with PUMA? Because there are the best at creating fantastic race wear.
“PUMA has become the most authentic and credible sports brand in motorsports and has the expertise to create the best products for the world’s leading drivers and teams as well as for its fans”, said Arne Freundt, CEO of PUMA.
“The influence of motorsport, and Formula 1 in particular, on sports- and streetwear culture has significantly increased in recent years.
Our new partnership with Formula 1 is an exciting opportunity to further explore this blend of motorsports and lifestyle. PUMA has always sat at the intersection of sports and fashion, and we feel we are in the perfect position to translate the culture of the sport into relevant streetwear collections and drive brand heat with a young, affluent, and diverse audience.”
Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1, said:
“As F1 continues to grow around the world, we have been reaching new fans through exciting collaborations and are seeing the sport enter areas of mainstream culture we have not seen before. HOT DAMN!
This is one colour combination that completely knocks our socks off. It’s unbelievable how good this looks and how much it costs. We would call it the perfect combination of the price is right. Piano Gloss black with gold racing stripes makes this Mustang look like serious business. Sleek and sexy and just some of the pronouns we would use on this beauty.
Mustangs are probably one of the more desirable models for collectors when it comes to American Muscle. It really doesn’t matter what age the Mustang is or what era its from. From Japan collectors want Skylines, from Germany Porsche, from Italy Lamborghini and America has their Mustang.
But there is marked improvement in SOLIDO’s interiors and while purists and big spenders will rave on about AUTO ART and BBR interiors, it seems the guys at SOLIDO is going to give them a run for their money. This is the second classic Mustang that has been released by SOLIDO but just look inside and see the advances they have made with interior detailing.
If you are a collector looking for a new classic Mustang or another to add your collection, we highly recommend this. Its got great detailing on the exterior making sure they have replicated the original perfectly and now they are getting their interiors just right. Next step, opening engine bays.
