Mugen is to Honda, what AMG is to Mercedes or Rauh Welt is to Porsche. They take mild-mannered daily runners and turn them into Godzilla-fighting road monsters. While the Civic Type R is no slob, the Mugen bits both inside and out, makes it a proper street fighter.

These Jota P-Spec cars built on the existing Diablo SE models. Came with Plexiglas windows and adjustable rear wings. The yellow one is now incommunicado somewhere in Japan with an anonymous owner.
The model is set to arrive sometime in August or September but is now available for pre-order.

Finsihed in an eggshell white with white steelies, it makes quite the looker.

The year was 2020, a sucky year globally. People were getting sick and dying from the pandemic that robbed us of our freedom and sanity. Not a good year. It was a good year for digital and virtual immersive experiences. Where real life crosses over into digital communication and coffee meetups now happen on ZOOM and events become virtual this is where Esports took off and specifically for this article eRacing.
The first Virtual GT World Challenge Asia Esports Championship happened in 2020 and motorsport enthusiasts were treated to a completely new format with the lack of actual motorsport events happening. Awesomely, TARMAC WORKS got the opportunity to support the event while at the same time creating a completely new revenue stream in terms of collectables. The brand team attended in a big way with similar
results at the end of the season which was awesome, and we have a whole year to look forward to in terms of race model releases.
The mighty AUDI R8 LMS driven by Felippe Souza is the second Esports team car to be released and you’ll recognise the iconic colour scheme which has been applied. All the cars that TW fielded have iconic motorsport liveries reimagined for the more modern car models which is a real easter egg they leave us with. I appreciate the detail and craftsmanship because I can tell you personally that I have had the curse of having to fix the same rear wing design on a 1/18 scale and it drove me mad. Seeing at 1/64 scale fixed solidly is a job well done.
As a brand that has our logo on the car, we are very happy with the outcome. Yes, that’s right we have a quantifiable say in how we feel about the details and as you can see this is not the first AUDI R8 LMS TARMAC WORKS has done, practice makes perfect. The other two featured AUDI are on SALE as well, so if you are an AUDI R8 fan and like the motorsports angle, these are worth checking out.
One more thing, these are display models so the wheels don’t roll @castheads we use Dream Customs Motion Mousepads for 1/64 scale cars.
The Majorette tuner series has become something collectors look forward to now annually. With addon parts that can be customized themselves and fitted onto the cars with relative ease. It also comes in a fancy box that holds a display box as well as stickers and tokens connected to the car. The set usually features Majorette’s flagship models featuring cars like the new Bronco, Dodge Viper and of course their favorite Audi R8. There are two Audi’s in this year’s release one with chrome addons and the other more commonly found version in Red with white wheels and gray modification.
Our favorite part about this combination is the wheel extensions, they do change the shape of the car. We wait hopefully to see someone drop a nice customization of this casting because it’s so originally well done it makes a great base to work on.
Another great AUDI release from Majorette is the R8 Spyder which makes a regular appearance in many different colors and has become a bit of a variation darling around the office (the other being the Rubicon jeep from Majorette). This year it makes its appearance in this rather fetching metallic purple, rounded off with black multi-spoke wheels. Some collectors are die-hard R8 fans and these are widely regarded as a great entry-level model worthy of a spot or two in the collections. Especially when they come in nice colors like this super example.
This would be a great model for Majorette to base a special set on. Maybe one that celebrates the history of AUDI’s iconic racing liveries, some of them would look stunning on the R8. That would certainly be one for the collectors. Or a transporter series hmmm….
This is a simple car with no special moves or moving parts. But in its simplicity, it is quite a goodlooking casting of an AUDI A1 Sport back. This by the way the most ‘base’ version of a Majorette car and see how good it looks with actual plastic lights. That’s one of the huge differences that Majorette scores on. Plastic lights automatically add realism to the model. Owing to its overall size and fuel-efficient, tree-hugging friendly engine in real life has made the model quite popular among the newer generation of small families so expect to see these fly off the shelves picked up by young dads who have a nippy little A1.
1/64 Figures and props have become big business in the hobby community as everyone wants to up their photography skills and create stunning situations around these cars. We like the brand SCALITE for its attention to detail, choice of color combinations, and innovative styles, even though the packaging is different and practical compared to other brands.
A playful look back at retro models with pictures
by Troy Loveland andwords
by Lance MüllerOne of the first Maserati models to hit the Hot Wheels line up all the way back in 1969. It came out in two version, one was a full spectraflame paint job and the other with a black roof. The casting varied from blue being the most common to the olive which became VHTF (Very Hard To Find).
Most of them had the Delrin Bearing wheels, but some were found to have the capped wheels. Most had blue tinted glass and three to four different interior colors. Again when there are mismatching exterior/interior colors, the rarity increases.
All of this models were made in Hong Kong.
Another tidbit for info shared by Bruce. johnson Quarles, one of the first people to finish the Mattel Apprenticeship Program was the person to prepare the wooden block that was used in the design of the tools to make the casting.
Troy used his usual playful look at things to photograph these play worn models.
As time goes by, we will look at vintage models from others in this section.
AN AUDI THAT COULD’VE BEEN
31 YEARS AGO, AUDI PRESENTED THE J MAYS-PENNED AUDI AVUS QUATTRO AT THE 1991 TOKYO MOTOR SHOW. THE ALL ALUMINUM BODY AND THE SLEEK LINES HEARKENED BACK TO THE AUTO UNION RACERS OF THE 1930S. THE CAR FEATURED (TECHNICALLY AS IT WAS A DUMMY)
A 6L 60-VALVE W12 ENGINE, EYECATCHING RED INTERIOR, AND LOOKED LIKE A CAR MANY BUYERS WOULD’VE KILLED FOR.
BUT ALAS, IT WAS JUST A CONCEPT. NEVER TO SEE PRODUCTION. MAYBE AUDI DECIDED THAT HUMANKIND WASN’T READY FOR IT YET.
BUT THANKFULLY HOT WHEELS DECIDED TO RELEASE THIS CONCEPT CAR IN 1993. THE FIRST CASTING HAD A MATTE METALLIC BODY AND RED INTERIOR WITH ULTRA HOT WHEELS. BUT THIS 1999 RELEASE IS THE CLOSEST TO THE ACTUAL CAR.
THERE ARE 14 VARIANTS OF THIS CASTING, IN 1998, HOT WHEELS EVEN MADE A LIMITED-TO-500 CONVENTION CAR.
MANY COLLECTORS WOULD PASS ASSUMING IT WAS A FANTASY CASTING. BUT NOW YOU KNOW.
Collectors of Volkswagen get yet another treat from Schuco. Schuco has an ultra-impressive lineup of classic cars in 1/43 scale especially VW transporters and Kaffer models plus with this set, you get a welldetailed transporter all ready for your VDub track day.
Schuco 1.43 Edition’s selection of models is true collector pieces as you will see in the photographs taken here. Adoring attention to detail, well-crafted finish and of course rounded off with premium display-worthy packaging. Most of the models are also limited editions with a run of about 500 – 750 pieces being made globally so getting your hands on one of these could also mean a worthwhile investment. But as far as display worthiness goes I can’t stop looking at it which keeps distracting me from finishing this review.
As mentioned earlier and pretty much during all Schuco reviews we do, attention to detail is something we have come to greatly appreciate from Schuco but with that comes insane responsibility to not break an incredibly delicate side mirror. But some details always mesmerize me. The hubcap with the embossed logo and that impressive shine the makers manage to get, just makes it look so realistic. The chrome around the headlights…perfect! HOW?!?!?!?
The Complete VW Package
Paint job scores high as does the exterior bits like lights, and number plates. There is no apparent official relationship between the number and the stripes in the movie series Herbie, but there are many VW enthusiasts that have created their versions of HERBIE and the designers could have used it as a design inspiration. Either way, I don’t see anyone having any issues with the famous movie celebrity livery being used.
The Complete VW Package
This is the single cab version, Schuco has also done a double cab version as well previously, so no you were NOT seeing double.
The trailer bed is diecast metal as well and it comes with detachable ramps, and once again great attention to detail. The designers have certainly been consistent with their eye for keeping it real.
THE 43 COLLECTION KEEPS GROWING OVER AT SOLIDO, AND THEY SEEM TO BE FOLLOWING THE THEME OF LESS IS BETTER. LESS, BUT MORE KICKASS MODELS IS A THOUSAND PLUS ONE TIMES BETTER THAN A WHOLE LOAD OF MEDIOCRE MODELS IN OUR OPINION. WE SURE YO MAMA WILL AGREE WITH US
However, the models chosen to join the lineup are the furtherest thing away from that LESS IS BETTER formula. The latest release is this ABT-roided 2022 RS6-R.
The real world ABT RS6-R is a 74hp monster, with all the good looks yo mama can truly love without taking away from the All Wheel Drive and oodles of space.
The miniature isn’t too bad either. It’s certainly ain’t yo mama’s model. But no doubt she’ll like the graphite rolling wheels, paint finished in Merlin Purple Matte, and its comes bolted to base with an acrylic dust cover that keeps the dust away which is easy to keep clean, unlike your room most probably.
Just finished watching the latest (some would say the final) installment of the Jurassic Park/ World movie for the second time at the cinema and it’s a great coming together of old and new. I was there for the first of them, and I got to take my son for the latest. Owen is one of his favorite movie characters and both he and I enjoyed ourselves silly.
So when Jada Toys sent some Jurassic Park models over, I was ecstatic. It was time to live out those movies in the backyard and spend hours putting this model and my son’s collection of dinosaur toys together for some playtime.
The model is of the Jeep Wrangler YJ Sahara seen in the first movie. The one that picks up Alan Grant, Ellie Sattler and Dr Ian Malcolm. It makes another appearance in Jurassic World when Owen and Clair uses it to hide from the Indominus Rex.
It’s great to have a brand like Jada Toys making a range of models that tie into pop culture. It enables us to relive our favorite movies and tv shows in miniature.
The Jeep Wrangler comes in multiple scales, from the Nano Rides to the 1:24 and even a 1:16 R/C version that makes for hours of play. All in all, its great to enjoy oneself with these models.
It can’t be helped the PONTIAC Firebird ERA will always be remembered as one of lawlessness, CB radios, interstate challenges, sleeveless denim jackets, wild hair and equally wild driving. When John DeLorean was given the task of going toeto-toe I don’t think he expected the Firebird to become such an icon of rebellion.
JADA has their BIG TIME MUSCLE range that takes classic American Muscle cars (God Bless America) and adds their sugar and spice to the whole ensemble. Usually, with striking colour, nice big wheels and body kit packages that prove the tuning universe is everywhere.
Popped open the bonnet and was greeted with a flash of brilliant light. A chromed HEMI block with a giant oil cooler next to it also chromed out will dazzle you away from noticing the lack of engine details (which you can now get done by professional customizers) but matched the theme of ‘insanity’ BIG TIME MUSCLE Cars are built on.
Complete opening parts include a nice big compartment and a tiny little ducktail spoiler. mittedly this was the only song reference I think of in the end, which, is how we have up with nothing too much to say about the of the car. It has lights.
For good wheel reproduction? Very Deep. The deeper the dish the wider my smile. And many Big Time Muscle cars have deep deep dishes. This one has a white wheel section which looks like it uses the center socket of the late 60’s sports wheels wrapped up within a deep chrome rim.
rear spoiler. Adcould ended the rear
One of the biggest body features that have been modified is the natural ‘wide body’ areas. Instead of curved panels, JADA has decided to update the shape and sharpen up the curves leaving a nice sharp edge between the lower half and top half of the car. Almost, like chiseling and toning the muscle.
I love pickups and American-made pick-ups are by far some of the best examples of the utilitarian machine only second to the Toyota Hilux. And within this brotherhood of steel and machine, there are a few models that outshine themselves into automotive iconology. The FORD F-150, The RAM, The Raptor the…. wait a minute…sorry…. The Chevy SILVERADO. And JADA has given it to us just the way I like it, simple, no jazz!
All JUST TRUCKS from JADA come with an extra set of wheels, axles and screwdriver, if you are already a big fan of the line you probably have a lot of screwdrivers. With the SILVERADO there was a set of chromed-out rims but I guarantee you, the black ones are the best.
The front doors and the front cab opens up but the rear doesn’t. Also, there are no interior details to talk of at all sadly. Giving this pickup a little character is something that you or an experienced customizer would have to figure out but possible.
The rear deck is spacious and I love the lid flipping down. As a kid my dad had a Mitsubishi pick up and my cousins and I used to ride around in the back so always have fond memories of hanging out in the back. You can load up quite a few things in here maybe even some custom-made gun boxes or storage boxes for the back.
As much as the exterior details are pretty good, the interior and under the hood leave much to be desired. But this has great base potential and a creative idea could turn this into one of the coolest customs ever made with working electrics. This is potential and inspiration waiting to happen. KEEP US POSTED!!!!!
I feel the best way to enjoy an LBWK model or something to enjoy all the designed aero packages and break glory. The AUDI R8 is AUDI’s HALO car. The one that AUDI being a contender that makes fast exotics.
something similar is in 1/18 scale. That way you get break packages with beautiful rims in larger-scale that brought back the sales and the reputation of
With attention to detail and perfect shaping of curves and edges this car is a symphony of design. And GT SPIRIT is a very good conductor. As you can see for yourself every bit of re-creation has faithfully been copied and crafted as well as the original piece. The only difference is the scale.
What is a total crime is the amount of detail that goes into the interior as well but cannot be enjoyed due to the sealed factor. Maybe there is hope that in case you drop and crack the resin body maybe you can display the interior separately. Till then, like in real life, you will have to peer through the window.
Sunt es dis veliquisqui omnihit quiatust, sus. Oribus consectur sintur? Quia eos erit labo. Itature ntiossime doluptat aut elit et exerios dolecaborpor susandero berchic tiumqui offic

In between the great German battles for automotive segment is a little 4-ringed beast that springs out like a John Travolta MEME. Tuned by their ABT arm something like an ABT A3 and shakes the category
automotive supremacy especially in the sports sedan out and attacks leaving everyone utterly confused arm AUDI like a rattlesnake spring forward with category up.
Such a great-looking car, with simple clean lines plenty of details put into place both inside and outside of the car and a great air of elegance. This could work out to be a great piece in your home instead of the model in your collection. I could image a sea of white interior décor mostly IKEA and this sitting on top of a white ‘HAUGA’ storage unit.
As a fan of the brand AUDI, I see a lot of merit in going in for one of these. But I can’t get my head around the fact that it looks more like it can pull a room together instead of being in a collection. Maybe because it’s a very modern sedan and hasn’t earned its reputation like an E36 lightweight or a 190E EVO but at the same time doesn’t have supercar star power. It’s beautiful almost perfect maybe a little too fresh.
When people refer to the good old days of cars, this will slip into that category without an eyelid batted. These were cars that were made of heavy metal and required a tank to cause any real damage to make the insurance guys sweat. They had power, they had the luxury, and they are pretty unstoppable. If you want to see a couch, go really fast you have to see an S8 in action.
Otto Mobile has decided to go with the cream leather interior and walnut finish, trust me anyone born before 2005 will get the humor of that description, on a serious note though they have done an excellent job of taking us back in time because it is perfect. Even the body color has been chosen from the original line-up of colors released for the actual car. For me, clear indicators of detail are the wheels and lights and these take me back to the ’90s so great job Otto Mobile.
The modern dad has given up the 2+2 seater dream and decided that family life is more the thing to concentrate on and leave the sportscars up to the gaming consoles. With kids,
groceries, self-employment, chores and hours on the road, the constant whine of a sportscar engine can get a little tedious.
So, a cool German car maker designs something that looks in-between a teen SUV and fastback station wagon, gives it AWD and an iconic Quattro badge because seriously who’s going question that like an ‘M’ badge and says, here is an all-road, all-round powerhouse that can put a smile of Daddy’s faces around the world.
Audi Daddy Wants something fastback going to here can world.
And just to make sure the dream is fulfilled GT Spirit makes a 1/18 scale model that is so epic that it’s a no-brainer gift for Daddy on Father’s Day or Christmas day. And it looks stunning, capturing every detail Daddy enjoys on his real 1:1 version or the 1:1 version he hopes to own one day.
It is amazing how a well-made model can change your mind about what you collect. Usually, the only vehicle I would choose to get in this category of cars would be a Subaru and only a Subaru. But now I’m starting to see the appeal and I might find myself with a new interest. As far as I’m concerned this is a lovely model and I’m sure you will enjoy owning it too.
WHAT MADE LANCE MÜLLER TAKE ONE LOOK AT THIS SHINY NEW MODEL, FRESH OUT OF THE BOX, AND DECIDE TO GET IT WET AND COVERED IN SAND?
Why? Because a model like this deserves to be taken to it’s natural element on the beach to be shot for the magazine. The sun, sea, sand and downright sexy backdrop of the western coast provided the ideal studio for this sparkle-y new model from Otto Mobile.
First of all. it’s a fourth generation (Y60) model of the Nissan Patrol. A vehicle that has been around since the 1950s. The first gen saw the light of day as the 4W60. But I am not here to talk about the real-world vehicle, I am here to show you the model. The model I fell in love with almost instantly when I saw the pictures.
And I also love the beach, and decided that not studio shots for this little number. Off I went, camera bag, model, mask, water bottle and a pack of smokes. Had to catch the Golden Hour, as that’s when we get the most gorgeous sunsets in this part of the island. Skirting kids, dogs, sundry beach visitors, sport fisherman, and lovebirds, I had to find a relative quiet place to shoot this little gem.
The moment I took this out of the box and it’s rigidfoam encasement, I was lost. Lost in it’s graphite/silver paint combo, those massive three-spoke wheels and three-door glory. Set it on the sand and bam, it looked like it was home.
Most of you will never let this model out of the box, or once out of the box, will be relegated to a well-lit display cabinet to live out it’s life in comfort and free of dust and moisture.
But that’s not my thing. My thing is really enjoying the models and taking them out and about to shoot and tell stories about. Of course Otto Mobile has done an exceptional job on this model, and it’s the second offering from them, earlier they released the same thing in blue and silver. This time the black/silver combo is delectable.
I wanted to track down the actual version that this 1992 model was based on. During the time the Y60 was in production, there was a few country specific models made. But that I will leave for another time. My aim was to shoot this 1:18 in what would have been the element for it’s 1:1 version.
The shoot was glorious. The sand was firm in the spots I chose for it, the sun partially behind a curtain of clouds that provided a natural softbox.
As it is with nature, who sometimes can be an unpredictable mistress, threw the sea closer and closer to the model. Few times it was all but engulfed by the waves.
I could not ask for this!
The sea was providing me with action. It was giving me the opportunity to shoot this model in motion, add movement and give each photo life.
I hope you like to photos and model. Do I recommend you getting this model? The answer to that would be a big ass “heck yes!” Treat yourself to the model of a true off-road legend. This model and I are going to have a lot of fun as time goes by.
