BLEU VINCENNES

It's refreshing to see a Lancia Stratos not wearing the rally livery for once. Designated the Tipo 829, it was built to take on the punishing rallies of Europe from the early 70s in which it was quite successful. Homogolation rules meant that at least 500 cars had to be produced.

MINIGT delivers it in dark blue, one of the few colors the production cars were painted in. It's a great addition to the previous released Rosso Arancio and the classic Alitalia rally livery

Gorgeous metallic green, a darker version of ‘British Racing Green’ with dark orange highlights and dark orange lights and windows. Making it a killer color combo. Opening doors with a bit of spring in the wheels this is great casting to have and should fill your stocking/rugby sock quite nicely or somebody else’s.

The other ace Majorette has up their sleeve is the FORD MUSTANG. Definitely, a good looking casting most mustang fans cannot ignore. The shape that defines the Mustang has been brilliantly adapted into Majorette’s portfolio resulting in a healthy set of variations in the casting. RACING STAR

Racing the Vios has become one of the mainstays of the motorsports scene in many countries across Asia over the last few years.

The Toyota Vios Lady Cup happens in Thailand where some amazing female drivers take to the track The 2022 event just concluded in December.

The other is the Toyota Gazoo Racing Vios Cup that takes place in the Philippines with the 3rd and final stage finishing in November 2022

Pop Race introduces the first of it's Toyota GR Vios Cup models in the very familiar Red, White and Black Gazoo Racing livery.

There will be a lot of additions to the model as this is the first pre-release model and is still under development with a Q2 2023 release planned.

GLOBAL STAR

The third generation model was released in 2013 and received a major facelift in 2016. The Vios (aka Yaris Sedan or Yaris Ativ in other markets) got not only cosmetic changes but also new engines and was made wider, longer and taller in some parts of the world.

The model has enjoyed significant success across Asia, and even becoming the best selling car in the Philippines, Viet Nam and enjoying top 10 status in Malaysia.

Pop Race is set to release the model in Silver Metallic and the top trim model. This will be the first to enter the collectors market.

Chassis No.007 was one of the Langhecks that raced during 1969 Le Mans under the ownership of John Woolfe. Unfortunately, though the car was predictably blindingly fast it developed an unfixable oil leak and retired after 148 laps. Due to being privately owned the 007 chassis escaped being scrapped and were rebuilt in 1970 to the Kurzheck trim and sold to GESIPA Racing. Which yielded them a good year in 1970 winning a couple of races along the way. Sadly chassis 007 did not stay a 917 and was rebuilt as Group 7 Spyder in 1971.

There were two 917 Hippies in the world, the first original Hippie took 1500 cans of spray paint and was the Langheck body version chassis No. 043 that was raced at Le Mans in 1970. The second Hippie was a PORSCHE 917K riding on CHASSIS No.21 that began life as Chassis No.12 but was grafted onto another 917K and ‘became’ chassis No.21. And with race No.35 this specific car drove at the 6Hrs of Glen Watkins and placed 9th driven by Van lennep and Larrousse.

Based on Chassis 008 this 917K was probably one of the famous 917s due to its partnership with GULF Oil and the livery it sported. Gulf was already an established brand in Motorsport and having their livery on the team’s cars was a sign of prestige in terms of sponsorships. This is also the same model version Steve McQueen used in his movie Le Mans. The guys at Majorette have done some good research to bring us a set of Classique racing history.

Chassis No.23 was one of the cars loaned to Porsche’s grandson Ferdinand Piech who had a ‘works’ operation called Porsche Konstruktionen Salzburg Team which was part of the VW import business his mother and father set up. This particular model saw racing action for a period of two straight years competing in both US and European championship races.

The livery of this car is based on a 917 Chassis NO.20. The actual car is a completely different shape to the 917K and is the odd one out in the set since the others all appeared as 917 K in real life. So this is more like a tribute to Anatole Lapine’s design of butcher-style cuts applied to the original along with its piglike body design resulting in the Pink Pig moniker.

AND EVEN THOUGH THIS CAR HAS AN ODD SHAPE (AND I’VE SEEN AND BEEN IN THE RENAULT VERSION IN REAL LIFE) IT HAD A QUICK 1289CC ENGINE WITH A LIGHT BODY AND NIPPY SUSPENSION. IT WAS POPULAR AND ENJOYED GOOD SALES AS THE DACIA.

CONSISTING OF 5 CARS IN THE PACK THE DACIA VARIATIONS ARE QUITE COOL. A POLICE CAR, A TAXI, A ROMANIA TOURIST PROMOTION VEHICLE (TPV), A PLAINCLOTHES DACIA, AND ONE WITH THE GORDINI RACING STRIPE LIVERY. THE MAJORETTE DESIGNERS HAVE PAINSTAKINGLY ADDED ALL THE DETAILS FROM THE REAL CAR, AND THEY ARE ALL QUITE IMPRESSIVE. DETAILED GRILLE WITH AIR INTAKES AT THE BOTTOM AND AIR INTAKES ON THE REAR PILLAR FOR EXAMPLE. A NICE LITTLE TO GET IF YOU ARE DACIA-INCLINED.

Eva Racing Team, that takes part in the GT3 races in Japan was born during the height of Evangelion anime craze and fielded cars painted in the mecha units that featured in the ongoing series.

Pop Race has been a hugh part of the real world as model car scene when it comes to EvaR models. And this time it's no different. They present the first of two Eva-themed Toyota GR86 cars. The first one being modeled after UNIT 01.

DUH! VALENTINO ROSSI | 46 now things are much clearer. Placing 19th in the PRO-AM category Rossi was joined by drivers Alessio Salucci and Andrea Ceccato two places shy of Adam Christodoulou with whom we had an exclusive interview in one of our previous issues.

Matte black base paint, and cool Rossi styled graphics all over the car, this has suddenly gone up a few collector points in my book, because for Rossi fans this will be another great piece to add to the collection of Rossi bikes and helmets that a lot of them will already have. The follow-up to the DIABLO wasn’t a sequel. It was a brand new V12 story that lasted a long time and enjoyed great success. In fact, I would venture to say that these car models set up Lambo up to be the powerhouse it is today. I simply love what JADA has done to the LP640, and I think most of you know what I love the most, yep, those wheels. For the price of one of these, the details are not bad, but the colour really pops, and it sits really pretty on a shelf.

If Vanilla Ice remakes ICE ICE BABY he should update the look and instead of “rolling in his five-point oh” he could be “rolling inna Murcielago” then his cowardly retreat would sound a little cooler with a throaty V12. I’m sorry, I love these Lambo’s so much I got no love left for Vanilla ice, okay! Seriously though how cool is this dark cherry red roadster with opening parts, low ride height and those multi-spoked rims.

The word means ‘superlight’ in Italian, in Lambo speak it means ‘underwear wetting fast’. These cars are so hot the 1:24 model we got came out with smoking vented discs and overheated BREMBO’s you could cook a set of ribs over. Not the sort of detail and finish BBR fans would go for but if you are a hardcore Lamborghini fan on a budget these are perfect and will resell much faster later if kept well. There will always be budget collectors starting off in the hobby as you upgrade along the way.

AutoWorld 1968 Oldsmobile® Cutlass™ Hurst/Olds

As a result of a remarkable joint venture between Hurst and Oldsmobile the 1968 Oldsmobile® Cutlass™ Hurst/Olds, was fabricated as a limited production car. Only 64 out of the 515 that were built, were sport coupes. This 1-of-64 sports coupe is Demmer Engineered number 463. Optional for this model was the Peruvian Silver body, black stripe details, 455 Engine, and W30 equipment. The interior is upholstered in black with the exception of a walnut wood accent panel installed across the bottom of the dash and around the Hurst dual gate shifter. It was built and then shipped from Demmer Engineering on July 3, 1968 to the Paul Clark Oldsmobile dealership in North Carolina. When Tim and Leia Wong purchased this car in May 2000, they learned it still had the numbers-matching engine and matching OW-code transmission with the Hurst dual-gate shifter.

Auto World is excited to replicate this beauty featuring recently-tooled post glass used for the first time on our 1968 Olds® Cutlass™. Although this W45-code Hurst Olds has no A/C, it’s sure to be a cool addition to your collection.

AutoWorld 1947 Cadillac Series 62 Soft Top

The Cadillac Series 62 was first introduced for the 1940 model year. During this time, Cadillac began trimming its vehicle lineup, slowly phasing out the lowerend models and the super-luxurious V16 monsters. The consolidation of brands and models was a wise move to survive WWII. The war took its toll on the entire car industry, and Cadillac was no exception. By 1947, Cadillac was only producing 12 models under 4 different series—nearly a quarter of their output from just 6 years earlier. As WWII ended and Americans returned to work, people ordered new cars by the thousands. From 1946 into 1947, there were over 100,000 unfulfilled orders. Weathering the storm of demand, 84% of cars produced by Cadillac in 1947 were the Series 62.

Auto World is proud to bring you this 1947 Cadillac Series 62 soft top in a custom metallic green exterior, dark green and cream interior, and tan soft top. Under the hood is a highly-detailed “Monobloc” flathead V8 that produced 150 hp.

GT Spirit has bestowed upon this year two models that I feel have put them at the pinnacle of their game. Often unloved because of their resin nature GT Spirit has consistently dropped some bangers through the year and you don’t hear much about them because there are no complaints, I’m sure there are but I haven’t seen much of them at all in comparison to other brands and scales.

The Jaguar XJ13 represents the handmade rarity that it is whereas the Mercedes is a collision of classic design retrofitted with a modern image that compliments its heritage and DNA instead of bastardizing the heck out of it. Two distinctive cars from two different eras but both prove one point, when it comes to cars, aesthetics plays a huge part.

Who is S KLUB? A coach design and building company in LA that loves pushing the envelope when it comes to retromods on classic Mercedes. The culture of designing and creating retro mods has slowly been rising and we are glad to see that Porsche is not the only one getting the restomod treatment.

JON SIBAL No stranger to the art of cars! This guy has been in a lot of projects stretching from body design to liveries and paint styles that have spanned hundreds of cars and inspired builds. He renders and the world is blessed with some beautiful cars.

There is no debate about how beautiful this car looks. I’ve flaunted pictures of it on the Internet and the response has been nothing short of surprise and awe. Which has also led to very few being available on the market, should you see one you should snap it up immediately. Yes, it is resin, and yes, it is a sealed car but the beauty of something like this is really in the coachwork and not what’s under the hood.

The even better news, GT Spirit is not done with SKLUB and JON SIBAL. As long as they keep creating rolling art pieces like this, GT Spirit will keep re-creating them in 1/18. In fact, the hard top version in dark green looks equally stunning and is already up for pre-order.

JAGUAR XJ13

To call this a rarity is an understatement. The original car was built to race at Le Mans but never got the chance to because it was uncompetitive. Then while it was being driven for a shoot to promote the V12 E-Type it was destroyed in an accident and then put into storage. And then later recreated by a privateer who did it with the exact specifications. But it was never the original ever again.

Since the only one ever built was destroyed, subsequent versions have been replicas. The company ‘Building a Legend’ with the knowledge of the Jaguar Heritage Trust builds the closest replicas of the XJ13 to the original. They also work with the surviving original XJ13 team to make the best replicas and they cost a few arms, legs and kidneys.

Once again GT Spirit has brought to life an awesome piece of machinery and with their great sense of detail has made a replica that “Building A Legend’ themselves would score high marks for. It’s almost sad that such a beautiful car didn’t get the story of a legend, it so deserved.

Even though these are resin models GT Spirit makes it a practice not to spare the interior details so even the clear engine bay does have an engine that teases you from its plexiglass cocoon. The cockpit is superbly detailed as well, with leather-looking racing bucket seats, a wood finish three-spoke steering wheel and the rivets on the floor, all come together perfectly as a great job.

The benefits of resin bodies? An Excellent adapter of shapes, which is why a diecast metal model of a similar finish would cost more. Achieving this level of perfection for the body is much harder with metal and more time-consuming as opposed to resin.

Who or What is KAMEI?

For those not in Europe, Kamei is a company that produces after-market parts for vehicles. These days they concentrate on accessories like roof boxes and in-car storage solutions. But in the 70s and ’80s Kamei was rocking the motorsport scene with Keke Rosberg in tow and was developing after-race parts for VolksWagen and Opel Ascona’s. Good Times!

THE Tribute

In the late 70’s not satisfied with just sponsoring and supporting upcoming drives such as Keke Rosberg and Hans Stuck, Kamei decided to put their reputation on the track and built a sports car out of the Volkswagen Golf. Driven by German perfection the car was built and turned out to be the fastest GOLF in the world at the time with 175Bhp carrying only 750Kg. 220Km/h Top speed.

The VW KAMEI is supremely dope! We love the colors we love the copied gold BBS wired rims. Love the phat wheel arches, low ride height and really the interiors of SOLIDO’s models have been improving in leaps and bounds. Honestly, if we were doing a scoring system this would get a 10 out 10.

Which boils down to the question should you get it? Unless you hate VW and anything to do with it and maybe DieselGate affected you on a personal level then there really shouldn’t be any reason why you should snob this one off. It’s fantastic and I really really hope SOLIDO has plans to do the original GOLF.

This could have been KITT from Knight Rider. If Knight Rider was a German production, we would still have David Hasselhoff but KITT would be a BMW 850 CSI. But this is alternate universe thinking, and in this Universe, the 850CSI didn’t need Turbo Boost or oil-slick booby traps, it just looked a cool BMW and that was all it needed.

Serving up a heavy research and development bill the 850CSI was quite expensive to envision and put together but it also offered a whole host of new technology that was created for the newer generations of BMW sporting sedans. The car was also built to achieve a certain refinement when it came to V12 engines.

Unlike most other V12s that were built to kick and scream on the tarmac setting fire to tires and waking up irate neighbors, this was built to enhance and extract the driving pleasure and luxury of having the power of a V12 with precise smooth like butter acceleration.

What SOLIDO is doing with the BMW license is beyond spectacular. They have made some very clever choices in terms of what models they would like to produce, and the collectors are lapping it up. And like PORSCHE there are plenty of BMW fans around the world. It looks like we are in for a lot of BMW excitement from SOLIDO.

Another great job which has all the usual hallmarks of SOLIDO’s growing confidence in their details. But with this one, they did go the extra mile. And it is an important one. It is a feature that really made the real car so recognisable, and I think this is the first time SOLIDO has put in flippable lights. That’s right you can flip the headlights up. Another great build from the 1/18 brand.

This model need to be taken out of the box and set up in an environment that its real world model would enjoy, a sandy beach. Sitting on the grains of golden sand, it looked like it truly belonged. The drops of seawater from the surf added a bit of realism that no studio spray bottle could. And the sand got everywhere, except inside the cab, just like the real thing.

The other thing was the stares this was getting from the other denizens of the beach. They couldn't take their eyes of the black and red truck getting shot from all angles at 7am in the morning.

Just like the real truck, the models graphics has a few easter eggs that is sure to surprise you. The map on the side bed are the markers and waypoints from Ensenada to La Paz, Mexico that is the route for the famed Baja 1000 race. Inside (which you may not see due to this being a sealed model) there are American flags etched on to the sides of the dash can be seen.
