EDITORS NOTES Here we go! Our third Gift Guide and this time it’s so big, we dedicated the entire magazine to it. But this is exciting. We see sales have gone up and hobbies are starting to make a huge comeback with people and families spending more time at home. Of course, times are still unsure, and we continue to take precautions. There are some insane cars coming out in the next few months and some even cooler ones coming out next year. I cannot stress how hard choice is going to be for all of us, but we will certainly have a sense of purpose if not anything to secure some of those must haves and survive long enough to enjoy them. Please join our Instagram page and check out our ‘Live’ IGTV talk show. We talk to owners, designers, race car drivers on GET LATE with CastHeads & check out Our new Car Show with @girlslovescars on our Youtube Channel. Subscribe and ride, with us for another year, take a break from the real world and jump in, to the world of Cast Heads!

Nigel

As we reach the end of what has been a tumultuous year, an year that for many generations will be remembered as one of the most rollercoaster years in modern human history. With all that has happened and happening, one thing has stood out like a beacon. Its the fact that people who had discarded or put their hobbies on hold because of 'adulting' and responsibilities got back to them in some form or another. Many parents started introducing their children to hobbies they took part in as kids themselves. More families, homebound found time to reconnect and enjoy boundless hours with toys, games and collectibles. As this resurgence is occurring, we hope that this Gift Guide will help you in getting something for somebody, or yourself. This guide isn't merely for collectors, its also for non-collectors to enable them to make their collectors friends/family members happy by getting them anything other than socks... If you are reading this, thank you. Enjoy the rest of this guide.

AC Cobra 427 MkII - Hard Top Wimbledon White 1965

This little pocket rocket was, and continues to be one of the most desirable cars in the world. Worked on by the legendary Carroll Shelby himself, the AC Cobra used to have a 7L Ford crammed into that minute engine bay. It was quicker than Hermes himself. Solido presents the model with the optional removable hard top which is even cooler ad I am sure there is a lot of Cobras WITHOUT hard tops around. Retails for about €44.95* in Europe. GT Spirit

Ferrari 288 GTO The Ferrari GTO was born out of the fact that in that particular time, il Grande Vecchio himself was worried that Ferrari had become too gentrified and that it was losing some of its racing DNA in the road models. Thus the stage was set for the release of a brawnier 308. This one had more aggressive styling, a V8 that could push this little red streak to over 300kmph. And GT Spirit does right by letting us get our hards on a 1:18 scale in that delectable rosso corse. The model costs around €110 but you can look forward to some great seasonal discounts. Otto Mobile

Subaru Impreza WRX S206 Subaru Imprezas has always held a place in the hearts of both JDM and rally fans. These had looks that were actually backed up with amazing performance. And the STi versions were highly respected. While most iterations were held in the highest regard, the S206 didn't exactly set hearts aflutter. Only 300 of these models ever hit the streets... And stuff of tall tales. OTTO Mobile has made 2000 of this model in striking WRX blue mica and its gun metal rims. Yes, its a resin model. But just look at that beauty. . CITY SLICKER

HK Tiny’s big goal in life is to give you an entire miniature world for you to be able to create your own cities. In fact this might be a great avenue to re-purpose those diorama models that massive building projects use in their offices and expos. If you were to get you hands on some of those, HK Tiny will have everything you need to build a city around it. Like these really well made, transit buses found typically in Hong Kong. The King Long’s of the double decker world. The attention to detail for the scale touted at one 87 is really good and you get a good view of the tiny purple bus seats that realistically look uncomfortable through the tiny windows.

There are many versions that range from the standard bus colors to the branded ones like this Coke Zero. The reason we chose this to highlight is because the branded ones are more gift worthy. You can give it to a model enthusiast or coke collector or someone who has a joint passion for both. It also comes in a brick display case. These brick displays can be slotted together making great storage pieces and you can buy them separately as well.

JUNGLE CRUISER A lovely little trinket that would fit on the desk of any adventure organiser, keen outdoors man who likes to challenge himself in every way possible or just a simple Land rover fan who inherited his grandfather’s rust trap Land Rover Defender.

As always Schuco does a fantastic job of detailing small scales successfully and this is no exception especially with the whole 1950’s safari paint job that makes the vehicle look exotic. It doesn’t serve a camouflage purpose because it was such a noisy engine, even a lame zebra had enough time to get away. This Christmas get out the kid’s plastic safari animals throw in the zebra finished defender and you’ve got yourself a miniature

safari going considering how zoo’s may soon be things of the past. Or you could build yourself an exotic jungle terrarium and park this in there as a live-in diorama. Also great for dinosaur hunts. Schuco has two Defenders in this scale to choose from the other one with the rear cover and painted in that classic Olive green. Not as razzle dazzle as the zebra paint though. This looks far more like the party mobile.

Military 87: Small scale. Big fun!

Most of us played with toy soldiers and military sets when we were younger. It was almost a rite of passage to replay great battles in the sand with little metal and plastic models and warriors. Schuco brings back some of that nostalgia with some very detailed military (mostly Bundeswehr) models in 1:87 or HO (for those model train enthusiasts) scale. These aren't for playing in the sand, but –on highly detailed dioramas and showcases.

This is the Bundeswehr Tank Companie, as institued in the German military in 1981. It is made up of four M48G tanks, a M113 armored troop carrier, and MAN 5T GL support truck that can carry supplies or personnel (with a removable canvas top) and a Volkswagen T3 Bus which probably would ferry all sorts of things to and from the front lines. The set comes in a foam lined box with the models ensconced in safety. The spotlights, antennae, machine guns are packed separately which you

have to install yourself. It takes patience, a bright light and tweezers. But once once its done, they look a site. Schuco has this for ordering on their shop.schuco. de and costs €99.00 including VAT.

MAJORETTE GIFT PACKS The Majorette giftpacks are super easy to pick up as presents this year and there are some really nice ones. Some are based on series with an exclusive or two inside. Others are solely special editions like the ‘Black Edition’ gift pack.

Other giftpacks include the rust series which we have reviewed on our blog, the Porsche Series which started off the year also reviewed in one of our earlier issues. Then the Europe exclusive featuring Audi’s in the Bayern Munchen football team colors. And then most recently the launch of the Black Edition featuring some of Majorettes best castings in different finishes of black paint. And finally, the E-Racing giftpack which is Majorette’s recreation of the Formula E racing cars in their team liveries. This year has been great for the Majorette gift packs bringing some really awesome models into people’s collections and they make a great gift for someone who is embarking on their journey into this crazy hobby.

BLACK EDITION

GIFT PACK The AMG GT is one of the high gloss paint models with multi spoke wheels and silver wheel rims, opening doors, plastic lights and the painted details are very good especially on the front grille. A popular casting in the Majorette line but the high gloss black finish is a great addition.

We don’t see many BRABUS 1/64 models and this one certainly smartens up the line. Opening bonnet instead of doors as the opening parts and plastic lights are the standard. The BRABUS logo is splashed repeatedly and unnecessarily around the jeep but the badging is clear and sharp making sure no one ever forgets that this is…. A BRABUS

The NISSAN GTR GT3, a mouthful in matt black. This is a great casting that was released earlier this year in two white variants one plain and the other with more sporting livery. This one comes in plain matt black with a tiny MOTUL logo on the side skirts. I love how majorette has made the air splitter in front, part of the mold.

Hell hath no fury like a Charger scorned especially if you are in a Dacia. Gloss black with blue headlights and windows this is one of Majorettes castings that looks good in whatever color they release it in. Simple yet savage the Demon SRT just says “go away” in not so friendly terms. Great job Majorette.

The Audi R8 is an unsung hero in Majorette’s collection it has abilities but kept hidden away like Number Seven in the Umbrella Academy. This particular casting comes in quite the color range and makes an appearance in the Black Edition collection as the second Matt Black car joining the GTR. This a very smart looking version with silver highlights on matt black. This entire set is off the hook and makes a good collector set.

Nissan like to cut their teeth on different cloth in the motorsport world opting to take part in sports such as LeMans and Formula E and they have made many great strides. This is the replica of their Season 5 formula E car which was quite successful and good looking in black and red. Majorettes version is finished off in matte and again great attention to detail.

This the JULIUS Baer Teams GEN 2 car from the 5th season. Julius Baer and the ABB Group have been extremely involved in FORMULA E racing from financing to driving the sport and driving in the sport. The Formula E cars looks like fast insects that have been mated with the bodies of Formula 1 cars. Intriguing and definitely an interesting addition to the collection.

FORM

GIFT P

Majorette has a really cool race series set g this year they release the entire range of FO future of motorsport an

The body of the ROCKIT VENTURI looks like the fuselage of a TOMCAT fighter plane mounted on a frame of wheels from above. This team has had quite the run around in real life with a stint in and scandal in F1 but they seem to have found their footing in Formula E and their place in the Majorette Formula E gift Pack.

GEOX Dragon is by far one of the coolest racing team names to hit the grid and their car is equally smart and stylish in Black and White livery with a hint of red notes here and there. All the cars essentially look the same except for the racing liveries of each team. The gloss paint job and the placement of the racing stickers are spot on and decals are sharp as you can get.

going, last year it was focused on rally cars, ORMULA E cars which will hopefully be the nd sustainable energy.

Nope DS TE’CHEETAH is not a racing team out of Wakanda. In fact, it comes out of CHINA and they have had a pretty good career so far. 12 wins and 31 podiums out of 48 races putting them at the top of the leader-board to date. Strong team with super exciting prospects, get them on your shelf now.

Chances are 1 in 1000 you are dating a BMW fan and 1 in 10,000 chance a family member would have or will want to, own a BMW. This is probably, a great gift then.

It’s hard to imagine you wouldn’t want of your own. Great detail, which has become one of the hallmarks of MiniGT’s rise in popularity and their paint jobs. They are also very popular and very close to the famous tuning and body kit brand, Liberty Walks having the license to recreate some of the awesome LBWK models that are out there. Fortunately, they aren’t all Lambos and Nissans. MiniGT occasionally throws in an LBWK of a different nature. This time in the shape of a BMW M4 pre-giant grilles. But the best part about this model is the copper colored wheel rims with the black 5 star deep dish. I want to put these wheels on everything. I also like the ducktail wing approach LBWK has gone with this, it appeals to my duck tail fondness.

FIRE

STARTER

This picture is a dramatic representation of how hot this model is, please do not set fire to it.

We’ve been told by the purists to look at the stance as the first thing on the C8. We conducted a few scientific tests and concluded that a medium sized ant could not get under the car which means it has been scientifically proven to be pretty low. Off to a good start passing the first crucial test. Everything else on the car looks good, we seem to have gotten a pristine sample with no issues. And, as always, the details deserve to be on Santa’s nice list. Plastic lights front AND back, silver tipped exhaust pipes, handsome wheels, heater lines on the transparent engine cover this is gift that shows you care about the person you are giving it too…even if it is to yourself.

pikes PEAKS RECORD T G L A T N E N I T BENTLEY CON

BREAKER Usually when you tell the hired help that you are taking the Bentley out for a small spin and will be back in time for supper it doesn’t mean racing up to Pikes Peak, breaking a world record and come back.

When the dream is finally over, you can sit back, relax and marvel at the pretty cool looking Bentley Continental GT with the PIKES PEAK graphic in Black and white against an Avocado green matt paint that contrasts stylishly against the luminous green front wheels. Avocado is ‘cool’ now, so referring to the paint as being Avocado colored makes the car instantly cool. MiniGT does other somber colored Bentley’s but what makes this so gift giving worthy is that it’s something most collectors will want but might not buy opting for a safer color for the collection. For us we love the paradox of such insane branding on a stately car and that is putting it mildly from Bentley’s point of view.

“Sorry officer I just keep seeing 100 in the back of all the cars I’m behind today. Like a message I’m supposed to heed”

Looking for something a little more ‘classic’ for that special uncle of yours, who’s made sure your feet have never gone cold through your life with a stash of socks every birthday and Christmas? You are better off than the guy who got ties. Try and break through with this present of thoughtfulness.

A car he would have liked to own but never got the chance. A calming yellow Porsche 256 A on holiday with water – ski’s mounted at the back in 1/64. Schuco is more than just your average 1/64 toy. Great attention to details and a brand steeped in toy history, makes this nice collector’s item.

Schuco also does a lot to make their packaging look display worthy, perfect if your were gifting these to a non-collector because they can display their prized trinket from their favourite niece or nephew on the office desk at home. Don’t forget working from home needs some nice desk ornaments. Why not make it a Porsche.

Looking for something bigger? Schuco also does it in 1/43 with the addition of a roof rack and luggage, white all wheels and covered more extensively in our last issue. AND, if you are REALLY like said uncle, why not a Schuco Porsche Rennsporter VW T1 Transporter as well. Items that are frequently bought together. Go on its Christmas.

COLLECTION Majorette does cool Porsche’s we already know that, so cool we need the variations and a complete display case exclusively for their cars. And they completely fill a gap in car culture history as well.

Kremer Racing is a thoroughbred racing team. They’ve been doing it for decades and fielded some insane Porsches ever seen in motorsport. This is not the first time Majorette has paid tribute to the team and considering the castings they have there is a lot more Kremer racing cars we can expect from Majorette.

This variation is a white version of the green Porsche released last year as a deluxe model. Opening doors and rubber wheels are the specialty and then of course the nod to racing history with the Vailiant Livery by Kremer Racing. This is simple gift to a collector but a meaningful one considering the history.

nissan GT-R R35

Snap crackle and pop! This needs to fall out of a very plush looking bon bon this season. I don’t know who was in charge of this project but dayumm they got this right. They even made the gold rims work! Just for that you should buy one for the entire family. Definitely a case of practice makes perfect. Majorette has done so many GT-R 35’s that they can practically do them in their sleep. This deep metallic purple is the sort of paint job expected on a model that punches a little above this weight class. It really isn’t something you would expect on their version of a mainline deluxe. And, usually we shudder at gold rims being used in the wrong place with the wrong color but this is not the case with this variation. In addition to the stunning paint you get opening parts both bonnet and doors as well as rubber wheels for the win. This has got, to be one of the nicest and best priced NISSAN GT-R you can find this season. I really do hope 2021 is going to have more of these fancy paint jobs in the Majorette line up.

mercedes actros LIEBHERR DIGGER

I’ve been mourning about getting an ACTROS from various places, but the price tag is just way too high even on some of the 1/64 models out there. And then a hero comes along. Majorette to the rescue with some nice budget Merc’s and Trailers. Top of our pick out of the lot is this Merc Actros with accompanying digger. We do miss the plastic headlights that Majorette has gotten us used too with their cars. But other than that, it’s a pretty cool cab. The entire body of the cab is diecast metal and so is the LIEBHERR digger that comes with the truck.

The trailer bed is detachable and plastic with a foldable stand and foldable loading ramp The digger is loads of fun as well. The main cab swivels 360 degrees. The arm bends up and down including a moving bucket and wheels at the bottom for the digger to roll along independently. You get one digger with the truck but the trailer has enough space for another heavy vehicle which you can find in the Majorette range. It’s certainly satisfied the itch to own an Actros, it would be nice to get one of the more pricey models but these are certainly loads of fun to play with, even for an adult. I certainly enjoyed feeling like a kid again playing with the digger.

M.A.N

CARTRANSPORTER Another boyhood pastime involved watching out for car transporters as a kid traveling around and then marveling at all that machinery parked at the back when you see one.

Of course, if you see one full of super cars or race cars that was, an added bonus. Majorette gives us a nifty little car transporter that holds 5 cars and can hold anything your heart desires. Another cool thing about car transporters is that they make really great storage for cars as well. Instead of having one desk car you can have 5 PLUS a transporter. And, because the trailer is not fixed you can collapse the back and position the cars to look like they are being loaded on, take a few pictures in different angles and before you know it, work’s done and it's time to go home.

mercedes actros MAERSK CONTAINER

No. 2 in our top Majorette trucks to get this season is a simple classic. But if you have a family member working for Maersk Logistics this will bring you many brownie points and they’ll feel bad about that rock they put into your stocking.

If no such employee exists in the family then this just makes a great present for someone who likes to collect branded vehicles. Unfortunately, the container on this trailer is fixed which would been great the other way because then majorette could have created a separate line of containers like another brand we know. This is the simplest one of the range but you can never have too many trucks either.

mercedes actros

AIRBUS POLICE COPTER Its stuff like this that makes the hobby so much fun. Who doesn’t like a truck with a trailer and a helicopter on the back? Seriously this is the stuff of childhood dreams.

One of the things this hobby can really do for collectors especially older collectors is take us back to our wonder years when toys like this were super prized possessions and all our fantasy’s surrounded our toys. Even today the theme song to Airwolf (for the younger generations it is the world’s greatest helicopter) resonates in my head as I hover this Police traffic Helicopter over some 1/64 traffic. The helicopter has fold-able main rotors and sits on a diecast metal trailer that has a fixed stand and movable rear loading ramp. One of those castings that is going to be hard to give up to the kids on Christmas morning.

M.A.N

BOAT TRASNPORTER The boat is the most super cool thing about this combo.

That is the most bad a## boat we’ve seen in a long time and we are very pleased that it comes with a full on trailer carrier. Usually the boats we get are small little tugs pulled on a two wheel trailer behind a pickup truck. This is a behemoth, and to be honest it is one of the more basic trailers in the range like the container truck but that boat at the back makes it look serious business. Got a harbor in your diorama?

JTCC 1990 DIVISION 3 CHAMPION

Tarmac Works returns to classic JDM with this little LEVIN decked out in ADVAN sponsor colors including branded base plate. Motorsport fans get a huge kick out of Tarmac Works line up and the brand certainly fills a gap that was usually championed in 1/43 scale. Toyota fans will be happy to get their hands on this neat little racing Levin that has a lot of strong details. We really like TW’s liveries and how well the quality is executed in general.

Plastic main lights, tow hooks, textured grilles, side mirrors etc. Quite a lot of detail for a tiny car. TW’s past has been colorful with a few hiccups in Quality Control but in recent times the complaints have reduced drastically and there are new measures in place for QC.

CONTAIN YOURSELF From the beginning Tarmac Works has had something for containers. From using them as backgrounds in shoots, to packaging really special, edition cars in them. And now a line of accessories centered around them. So far there have been only two designs that have been produced with one more slated to come out this year. The current pack comes with two containers with the standardized screw holes for mounting the car on to the base. These containers are then stackable on top of each other with pegs at the bottom that fit onto the tops of the containers. You can create a nice stack of containers for your desk.

This is a favorite in TW’s casting line up and they have plenty of awesome racing designs, some out of production, some brand new and some on sale.

ON SALE AT THE WEB STORE

mercedes amg gt3 Macau GT Cup FIA GT World Cup 2018 3rd Place

This black MACAU GT CUP podium winner is a really nice treat to oneself if you haven’t already added it to the TW collection. Currently on sale on the webstore for USD16.90 which is a great price for this car and a great way to add to the collection. Of course there are many other cars on sale so check it out.

We chose this because the black paint finish is really classy, the livery is based on Mercedes’ loyalty program Mercedes ME which looks cool in white on black and it looks like the car team Darth Vader would put up to race. This is a great buy!

nissan gtr35 gt3

Macau GT Cup FIA GT World Cup 2018 3rd Place The new Nissan GT3 is a new tooling from Tarmac Works and it is a beast looking car. Lots of little details for you to enjoy looking round the car and is a very beautiful model to photograph. If taking pictures of miniature racing cars is part of your hobby then this is just a perfect piece. Loaded with decals and branding, communication antenna on the roof of the car and yellow headlight lens this is all race car breeding put into a 1/64 package. And the body work is impressive. Well molded air splitter, rear wing is level and though they are small the side mirrors, are quite sturdy. NISSAN motorsport fans this should make your Christmas.

It’s all sold out on the webstore, but there is a chance you can get one from your local retailer if your are really lucky. We’ve been singing this tin’s praises from the time we first saw it and typically with anything TARMAC Works online it sparked a debate as to whether it was worth the space or not. We love it! It looks good, it looks cool and sometimes that’s all you need. Yes, a car does come with it. Its one of the newly tooled Nissan GT3’s in Castrol colors. The cap is screwable. And for us it’s been one of the most practical packaging’s we have had come to the office. We have been able to hide so many things on the editors table inside the surprisingly spacious tin. This is pure gift material.

Suddenly there has been an explosion of 1/64 Nissan R32s specially in 80s and 90s liveries and they are coming from all quarters. It is like someone found the license and shared it with everyone.

KYOSHO COLLAB N I S S A N

But this is not a complaint it just means we must create more space for more Skylines. Sometimes we wonder in office what the TOP 10 most produced car brands by model companies are and Skylines and GT-R 35’s are always in the list. From Tarmac’s COLLAB64 line the latest union has been with KYOSHO which pleases collectors a lot.

KYOSHO is well known for their attention to detail and quality paired with a team that does a great job of recreating liveries they have done some alchemy in the studio and the result are these two race cars that really represent motorsport of the 90s. Beer and Oil blatantly branded across the cars take us back to a time when advertising was more wild west and motorsport imagery was manly, macho and indestructible. Now we know drinking and driving kills.

But with these two now on offer we can drop the dismal thoughts and think positively about hinting to loved ones about how cool these would look next to your CALSONIC and HKS branded R32’s. Or giving your kids extra pocket money so that they can get dad that nice toy car he really wants for Christmas (children’s allowances are house tax free).

These are fine guilty pleasures to get your hands on or even better convince someone to get their hands on them for you. Our favorite is the CASTROL model because of the dual colored rear wing.

“in time for FALKEN Christmas”

Another cool idea TARMAC WORKS has added to their lines of accessories, which is pretty much dioramas for dummies. Seriously, not everyone has the immense skill and patience it takes to put an intricate piece of art together. But these Diorama garages make it really easy for us mere mortals to have a bit of fun.

This diorama has been put together in collaboration with IXO Collectibles along with the exclusive car that comes with it. It's relatively easy to put together and it comes with a set of decals to spruce up the bare garage walls but if you have some figures and some garage tools you’ve got yourself a nice little scene going. The exclusive car that comes with the set is a Porsche GT3 in FALKEN livery which is also very nice. What’s great about these diorama Garages,

is that you can line them up and fit them together to create a pit lane of garages for yourself and there are plenty of 1/64 scale props available for order from all around the world. These will definitely add a very cool section of display to your collection.

rwb garage By the time you read this, the new RWB Garage may have been released. This will feature a pink ‘HOOTERS’ RWB and the garage will pair well with the set of RWB garage accessories. This is an absolute must have for anyone who has more than five TARMAC WORKS RWB’s

Giuseppe “N Giuseppe “Nino” Farina

1950 Alfa Romeo 158 The man behind the wheel was a highly competitive driver who was truly gifted but also extremely ruthless. Giuseppe Farina was known to drive aggressively often resulting in accidents that got the other driver killed. But it was that tenacity and recklessness that a driver needed, to be a winner in a time where man had to fight machine to be the victor.

This 1/43 scale piece of history is amazing in every way. It represents a driver who was truly gifted, it is hand-built and hand-painted from the ground up. And it has amazing detail.

And a victor he was, being crowned the Worlds very first Formula World Champion over bitter rival Juan Fangio in 1950. This was the Alfa Romeo he did it in. Unfortunately, the following year was not kind to the Alfa team and Fangio won the 1951 world Championship prompting Farina to return to Ferrari for the 1952 season. This however was the beginning of the end for Farina’s second world championship bid, which ultimately ended in 1955.

Nino” Farina Of all the accidents Farina was involved with on track, some of the being some of the worst in motorsport history he always managed to walk away and survive. But as fate would have it, he died in a motor accident driving his LOTUS Cortina in the Alps on his way to watch the 1966 French Grand Prix. Brumm celebrates the memory of this great and quite scary racer who would do anything to make the overtake. The detail of this hand made beauty is astounding. From the multi-spoke mesh wheels to the body shape to the manual crank hole in the front to start the car everything you need to historically see on this car is there.

Giuseppe “N And you can certainly understand from the construction of the car how this was a time when motorsport had absolutely no safety requirements at all. Even a seatbelt seems non-existent at this point. And the tiny wind screen is more like a wind deflector for your cheeks. All that engine all that power and no safety to back it up. Brumm’s attention to detail carries through all parts of the model. The interior is highly detailed for the scale. Wooden finished steering wheel, actual instrument panel with gauges. The driver has driving gloves on and his blue racing jumpsuit takes you through an experience rather than just a visual piece that sits on the shelf. This is very special gift to give someone who is into motorsport especially Formula 1 so think very carefully who you gift this to. This should give you incredible brownie points and affect the quality of presents you get in future.

Now here is a BMW with a large kidney grille that takes up pretty much the entire front of the car. And it still looks better than the new BMWs even if it is decades old. This particular model was released in 1971 with a 2.0 Liter engine and is pretty rare in real life but what’s really nice about this car is the beauty of its simplicity. It had a powerful enough engine, straight lines on the body and

sloped nose, it cut through the wind like a shark on the attack in the water. This is where the famous shark nose BMW CSL began its design life. And, as always Schuco has done a fabulous job of putting a beautiful recreation of it in a box to be gifted to that special BMW Fan in your life. As you can see from the pictures the details are pretty intricate and compared to pictures of an

original 1:1 the details are perfect. Even the interior has been given as much detail as can be done at this scale and price point. Finally, what makes this is a great gift is the collectability factor. It is a licensed model, made by a brand that has over a century of creating fine toys and collectible models and this is limited to a production of 500 pieces globally.

If exotic and not-the-usual models are your thing, then look no further than the BMW 507 and it's even lesser known 503. The model has an interesting back story. Conceived by Max Hoffman, a US-based importer of European cars, who sold the idea of a roadster to BMW as being a competitor to the wildly successful Mercedes Benz 300SL, the model evolved from the existing 501 and 502 platforms. The two-door roadster became increasingly expensive to manufacture and cost to profit ration dwindled on the model. All in all, only 252 was built of this good looking, albeit, expensive model.

Schuco crafts this model in 1:43 scale, in metal and in very good detail. Even the tiny wipers are made and not part of the windshield. The red body and black hardtop paintwork is outstanding and the white wall tires really sets this model on fire. The chrome accents and neatly done and even has undercarriage details that you usually don't find on models. It retails for about €39.99 on their website, and via their resellers across the world. Its also limited to 500 pieces.

The early 90s was a time of overthe-top cars and major carmakers were putting out some bonker machines on the tarmac, and BMW was no exception. Their 8-series models was insane out of the factory floor. Within this madness was born the idea for the 550hp V12 M8 to take on the mighty Ferraris.

Built first as prototype, the car featured some out futuristic bits and pieces that was put it into the realm of supercars. But with the advent of the 90s economic crisis, and the market dwindling, the idea was shelved and the M8 for awhile, became almost vaporeware. But one was built and it was consigned to the BMW Giftschrank (poison storage) to be unseen by human eyes forever. Schuco decided that it should not be so and decided to recreate the model in its 1:43 Pro.R Line. The model, in attention grabbing red, is a perfect example of the real car. It's limited to 500 models, so you better get your hands on one ASAP. Retails for around €69.99 on their site.

Brands built on tradition have cool traditions of their own. Like, producing a special Christmas model every year. And this year Schuco’s little joy to the world is this (awwwww) sweet VW T2 Transporter loaded with presents including a giant discount Valentines teddy someone is getting for Christmas. And Santa’s got style, a classic purist who digs a gloss black ride, clean white hubbies no frills and quite possibly electric. This is the Christmas ornament you want to be bringing out every Christmas in your home. Start your own tradition or give someone else a cool upgrade to their Christmas ornaments collection. MERCEDES

300SL Jaguar has their E-Type, Lamborghini has their Miura, Ferrari has their 250 GTO and Mercedes have their 300 SL. If Ed Sheeran lived during the 1950 – 60’s his song may have been about this car. From every angle this is gorgeous. Smooth, curvy lines where you can imagine the wind travels through as this thing of beauty, cuts through a seaside highway with the top down.

This fantasy could be yours or someone you like. For anyone who lives and breathes Mercedes having this on their desk will definitely send them into constant day dream. Classic 300 SL Red, rear mounted ski rack, diecast body, impressive chrome detailing, detailed interior with those steering wheels that had the large horn bar in white no less and only 750 pieces built.

If your boss is a Mercedes Fan, then this is what you get him for Christmas just before the time the company decides bonuses. If your planning on breaking up with your boyfriend on Christmas day give him this, he won’t hear you and won’t realize till the next year second week of January, by then you can blame the car. Featured is one such model rendered in glorious 1:43 detail by Automodello ONE43™. This is the famous Sunbeam "Monster" Tiger raced by Alan Fraser in the 60s. Why is it called the monster? Due to the tarmac destroying 300hp Ford V8 crammed into the engine bay and all the goodies both inside and outside.

THE UNDERRATED

ONE24 MAISTO PORSCHE 911 GT2 RS

I think with our shoot of this car, we have fallen in love with it even more than before and cannot for the life of us understand why this car hasn’t gotten the recognition it deserves. The details of the headlight are really good with the different LED light lens under the cover. Efforts to make the texture on the air intakes look like actual mesh a success. Carbon Fiber hood. GT2 RS branding everywhere. It really is a wealth of details.

MAISTO has the basics right, now would be a great opportunity for them to push the details on their 1/24 scale cars as much as the current price point will let them. They are about 35% away from this to be mind blowing. Maybe a special legacy series in 1/24 might be an idea.

This is a definite purchase. If you see this on the shelf at your local store get it. If it is a present of a car for anyone older than 18 go ahead and get it. You will not go wrong with a Porsche and at its usual price with this detail it is a surprisingly good bargain. We hope this model finds many more homes this season.

seasonal hustle The little truck that could is still a poster child among that hearken back to the old days crowd. While the JDM fans still refer to it, as the Datsun 620, this is the version that was marketed under the Li'l Hustler moniker in the US.

The truck came in a range of colours and accessories to make it your own personal space on wheels and at one time considered the number 1 import small truck/ pickup. So this is for both JDM and fans of Americana.

Doors, hood AND tailgate opens... Engine is ripe for detailing as it isn't but that is a good opportunity for you to get creative. Being a Maisto, it comes at you at an unbeatable price point that makes it very gettable.

BBURAGO 1982 FORD CAPRI Mk III

European Ford models has always had an element of fun in them from the time the company started making them "over" there. Cortinas, Fiestas, Focus', and Escorts were quite popular throughout the 60s to this very day.

The first Ford Capri was released in 1968 and takes its fastback cues from the bigger cousin across the pond. That's because the person involved in the design was also part of the team that worked on the Mustang. The initial model was manufactured in both the Britain and West Germany. The popularity of the Capri soared and Ford even offered versions to Australian and Japanese markets in the following decades. The model saw many facelifts and options available throughout its production and achieved something of a cult status in Europe in general and Britain in particular. But that started vaining with the advent of hot hatches in the late 70s.

The Capri Mk III arrived in 1978 to reducing interest. So Ford decided to bump up the offerings with range of engines and trim lines. Starting with a 1.3L Crossflow banger all the way to a 3L V6 Essex. The third gen models also had the distinction of being one of the most stolen vehicles in the 80s and early 90s according to the Home Office. Bburago offers this distinctive model in the 2.8L Injection version in Crystalline Green Metallic with a black interior. Its dotted rims are wrapped in rubber wheels features the model correct decals. Opening doors complete this model and we find it very interesting and quite detailed for a 1:24 scale model that only costs around $25 on amazon.com and is great for a classic Ford collector or British/European model enthusiast.

"RUN, DO

OM, RUN!"

NER FROM JADA TOYS IN 1:24 E FAST & FURIOUS COMPLETIST. NTHUSIAST, THE TUNER FAN, EVERYBODY.

The Fast and Furious continues to be a global juggernaut, and with the 11th film in the works, it will be some time till we will see the end of Dominic Toretto and his "family" on the big screen. The franchise saw a boom in tuner car culture with the release of the first film and gave rise to a whole generation of fans. From unobtainable JDM rides, to making the Honda Civic EXs iconic "tuner" cars and threw the spotlight on a whole subculture. But the films didn't scrimp on good ole' American Muscle. The movies featured everything from Dodge Chargers, to Chevy Chevelles and Plymouth Barracudas and

GTXs. But we took a shine to this particular model from Jada Toys. The 1970 Plymouth Road Runner makes it's first appearance in Fast & Furious: Tokyo Drift towards the end, driven by Dom and then raced against Sean in one of the scenes. The car is seen again in the 2006 Fast & Furious and keeps appearing in both Furious 6 in 2013 and Furious 7 in 2015 albeit in a different paint job Jada Toys has one of the most extensive Fast & Furious model ranges and they have recreated the Road Runner in exhaustive detail.

Gun metal speckled paint job covers the car. The chrome bits, though plastic, doesn't look plasticky, and features opening hood, trunk and boot. The wheels are neatly done, with the multi-spoke twopiece rims covered in low, I mean low, profiles with thick disc brakes and red calipers showing through. The engine bay and the interior isn't low brow by any standard. With its chrome accents, steering wheel, shifter and pedals, its one helluva model to complete your FnF collection. A quick search revels the model retails for around $17.99 on Amazon and Target, while Walmart has it for around $32.99*

ONE24 CORVETTE C8 BY JADA

JADA drops their version of the CORVETTE C8 in 4 metallic colors. And they all look pretty awesome. Knowing now where the design guys at JADA are coming from we think its safe to assume that this dropped stance that JADA has with most of their cars is like a signature move which gives the cars a distinctive look.

Planning to buy the diecast posse some Christmas Prezi’s? Can we be your friend? Here is something you can get for the entire gang with minimal fights breaking out on social media as to who got the better car. Some collectors can get emotional. Or, if you take time to decide what the best color for you would be, this is going to be a nightmare.

Also, great news for those who like to display their cars with all the parts opened. These are completely openable. This also means Corvette C8 fans can now own scales from 1/18 down to 1/64. We look forward to having a couple of these in our CastHeads Garage.

A TALE OF

TWO PORSCHES SCHUCO 911 S

As a massive Porsche fan and collector there have been to releases that have seriously impressed me this year. One, is this beautiful 911 S by Schuco finished in metallic gold. This is from the diecast metal line up which means “opening parts people!!!!” Level of detail is gorgeous, and the paint has obviously been clear coated well to give the color an uplifting shine.

SOLIDO 964 TURBO 3.6

The other model that has brought joy to my growing collection of Porsches is the 964 Turbo 3.6 by SOLIDO. The insane detail starts from the wheels up with the rears being the perfect deep-dish depth. The level of detail on this model is astounding and SOLIDO should be super proud about this flagship piece.

Schuco’s diecast opening models are always a treat. They love to put a lot of detail in and try to re-create not just the aesthetics but also the experience. For example, open the front bonnet and you will find the luggage space lined with felt. Open the rear engine bay, and it will be filled with a beautiful tiny air-cooled engine complete with original warning labels.

SOLIDO’s route is a little different. Though the model does have opening doors, that’s the extent they have gone, on that front. Instead they have focused more on the exterior of the car and it certainly doesn’t go unnoticed. The stance is perfect and the way the tires fill the arches perfectly especially at the back with the wider rear is drool worthy. Lights are super realistic, and the shape of the car is done right.

Why must you buy this Porsche? If you love the car and brand and your whole hobby life has been living and breathing Porsche then this is must have in your collection because the detail is so good you could conduct a show and tell class on the 911 S with this. Schuco has taken full advantage of the scale size and thrown in as much as they can.

Why must you buy this Porsche? If you don’t French Ninjas will break into your home and smash one Porsche model a day until you buy this Porsche. How could you deny your collection such a well crafted model. It looks stunning, priced really well, perfectly painted. You must have this.

MERCEDES

AMG 60SL BY OTTOMOBILE

This is the sort of Mercedes you take home to mother. Its classy, beautiful, seductive and so well made, that there will be an exception as to where this will go in the family home. If all else fails by some slim chance, then get immediate support from dad. Either way this Christmas this has to be in your home.

Classic Mercedes fans will be writing so many letters to Santa he may have to give up the idea of reindeers this year and get a container full of these Otto-Mobile Mercedes and just trawl that behind in his VW T2 Transporter. This is just exquisitely beautiful and makes a great add to the growing AMG collection.

The Royal Blue compliments the lines of the car and gives the beast a stately finish. Like the queens Pitbull when she wants to look mean, the Corgi’s are kept at home. The chrome highlights do not look gaudy or cheap and look like actual chrome. Its wonderful how the light naturally glints off the chrome.

Period correct realistic lights, and the wheels oh my god what is up with the Otto Mobile and SOLIDO they seem to be dropping some stunningly built wheels on their cars and collectors surely appreciate the effort. Sometimes a casting can look so good but easily let down by terrible wheels. But the wheels that Otto is using on their AMG’s is working the other way around.

Taking a peek inside the car at the available details, there is the wood trim that runs from the dashboard down to the center console. The automatic gear shifter has actually got the numbers on the side and the dashboard has an instrument panel that looks like its built in, instead of pasted on. Such a beautiful car.

RENAULTR17BYSOLIDO

This is not an ordinary Renault 17. First, it is another example of SOLIDO’s new and improved castings and tooling getting better and better. Second, this the Renault 17 Gordini. A simple looking car that had a mean power unit and fantastic weight distribution which made it very hard to beat on gravel surfaces. SOLIDO has done a fantastic job on this and it’s really nice to see such a great and crucial collection of rally cars coming out from them. It’s not the same old Stratos’ and FORD

Cosworth’s but a nice cross section of cars that were successful and got their drivers over the finish line in good time and good health and one of those cars was this Renault. The chrome bits do not look like cheap shiny plastic instead they look nice and shiny like a brand-new car, interior details are lovely with a 70’s style sports steering and long shifter you needed to be a little violent with. It has a wonderful 70’s side profile that fits it inline with a sports back shape before all the cars

went a little boxy in the 80’s. And finally, lovely choice on the livery. Very striking black, yellow and white combination used during the 1976 Polish Rally. This is very eclectic piece and would certainly be great for someone who has a great appreciation for cars that pushed the technical limits before electronics started to become mainstream from the 80’s.

How to make an impression in the car tuning community for a PR cum educational campaign with regards to safety in car customisation and tuning? Take one of the hottest speed wagons out there, give it to the good volk at ABT and ask them to turn it up to 12. That's exactly what the German Polizei did for their "Tune It Safe" campaign promotional vehicle in 2019. They took an Audi RS-4 R Avant and handed to the tuning house ABT Sportsline which turned it in to a 530hp road rocket. They tuned the 2.6l V6 bi-turbo engine to reach impossible speeds at 3.8 seconds and have it top out at 230kmph. Now mind you this is a 4-door wagon... groomed to super-car statistics. The car was commissioned by the Association of Automobile Tuners (VDAT) and the Federal Ministry of Transport with a focus on safety in vehicle customisation. This particular model was unveiled at the Essen Motor Show in 2019. GT Spirit presents the model in 1:18 scale with authentic details, and quite an outstanding job on the paint and decals. The model was produced in very limited quantities and is available for around €110 on select websites.

THAT CHANGED THE GAME

THE AUDI To this day the AUDI Sport Quattro S still races and still appears in perfect shape to take wins without causing too much sweat. Shorter, wider and turbo charged this full time 4WD hot hatch had 444Hp under the hood and with its power to weight ratio, still dominates.

This was also the model raced by Champion Rally racer and Champion for the movement of grooming more women for motorsport Michele Mouton. She had taken on some of the most grueling rally tracks found around the world and etched out some winning times and podiums for herself becoming an icon in motorsport. This is what this car represented, an icon that made icons repeatedly. This model from OTTO-Mobile is the car driven by famous Rally Driver

Walter Rohrl who is known as one of the world’s greatest. In Italy he was crowned the title ‘Rallye Driver of the Century’ and in France he was dubbed ‘Rallye Driver of the Millennium” and his skill was impeccable. Of course, in rallying a driver is only as good as his machine and this car was absolutely exceptional. From the very first gen quattro right down to the Sport S it was nothing but refinement over refinement gone into to build a machine that could fit the caliber of

racers like Michele Mouton and Walter Rohrl. That same refinement is what Otto-mobile have done with this 1/18 replica. This is a gift that a true rally aficionado would really appreciate. This is a total winner when it comes to details. The first thing that caught our eye was the authenticity and realism of those rally fog lights on the front after that everything else from there onwards was “ooo’s” and ‘ahhhs’ from us. The body shape of the car? Done well. Great resin cast, decals and livery

This picture was taken by Iain McKechnie of Race and Rally World at the Good Wood Festival of Speed.

is all in place and in order, lights as we mentioned before look like the real thing, wheels are perfect replica’s again, we looked at many pictures of this car in many angles to compare and the verdict is exceptional. The interior is super detailed as well but, unfortunately the model is sealed so you have to enjoy the details from the outside. Rally car lovers will certainly enjoy one of these because even noobs to the sport will recognize the importance and greatness of this car.

THE AUDI DRIVEN BY ANGRY DADS An angry dad driver is someone who has more than one child in the back seat, stuck in traffic and needs something with enough acceleration to overtake and cut off the annoying taxi driver in front of him.

This is an exquisite AUDI RS3 Sportback that looks so realistic you might spend all your money looking for a way to enlarge the car to life size before you realize if would have been cheaper to buy the actual car. But seriously in a world where collectors have a fine eye and demand perfection DNA Collectibles have carved out their reputation with a samurai sword that can only be hand made by Hatori Hanzo blessed with the tears of infants. We twisted this car every which way, looked at it from all angles and we couldn’t

find anything wrong with it all, which is usually the case with DNA Collectibles. We love how even the small things like cutting through the mesh on the grilles and having them open instead of a texture just makes the realism even more pronounced. As always the lights are re-created with extreme precision to look like the actual car, no corners cut at all. Body details and shape are so close to the real thing, next to each other it really looks like someone has shrunken an actual car. To be honest its almost like black magic. The way DNA makes their cars look magically like the real thing in such an extreme way and the price is a decent 100 – 170 Euro’s without shipping. Which is a super reasonable price. And DNA really go down to micro levels of detail. If you look inside you will find one

the highest detailed interiors, you can find on 1/18 scales and they manage to keep that consistency throughout. We have around 12 DNA models in the CastHeads Garage and every single one of them has been perfect in detail consistency. Another resin model but detail is incredible and worth adding to your collection or to as an amazing gift to someone else. Like, that person who saved your life when you were choking on a chicken wing. The bad news is, DNA has gotten so popular and with their limited productions they have become highly sought after. So sadly, this is out of stock at the DNA Collectibles store, but they have many other models and some of them on sale! Also, there are a few places online where you CAN buy this Audi. But do not wait any longer!

YUMMY R34 IN 1/18 ADVAN LIVERY This is one of those times you are thinking you know what please take all my car related data on all my devices and use to it build more of these.

STOP THE PRESS!!!!! This is so new the press review models are still in transit! And yes, this is coming in 1/18 scale in time for Christmas shopping. Get ready to buy some serious presents. It does seem like a Christmas miracle. Just when you were thinking how much you needed an R34 in 1/18 scale with opening parts and dressed in ADVAN livery BOOM, SOLIDO went and delivered.

This looks so good you are probably going to have this as your desk buddy without a doubt and with working from home that’s a huge possibility. The first 15 mins of your first 15 Zoom calls will be devoted to this new beast that sits on your table and your boss will track you down and come to your home to have the, ‘chat’.

YUMMY R34 IN 1/18 BLUE But with SOLIDO’s new tooling’s, they are churning out some pretty impressive models at realistic prices. Which has been the bigger game changer this year amongst the brands catering to the entry level of collecting.

For those that don’t get the ADVAN R34 before it sells out SOLIDO have very thoughtfully released the original bayside blue version as well. This will make the purist GT-R collector very happy and will give fans a great budget option to get this car into their collection without getting slaughtered at the bank. So far getting a Nissan GT-R34 in 1/18 scale has been a pricey affair and has become a bit of a unicorn to some.

From the initial pictures we see we have few opening parts, and the interiors are not shabby at all but the exterior looks amazing. If you want to score humongous brownie points with your Skyline Crazy partner this Christmas, well SOLIDO has just handed you the secret recipe. All you need to do, is just add credit card.

THE

OUTLAW BACKDATED BY SOLIDO

What do you get when you cross the singular lines of a classic, masterfully crafted vintage Porsche with model amenities and driving experience? The result of something beautiful.

Backdating, or restomodding is the art of taking a newish Porsche and converting it to a vintage model that hearkens back to a more lively driving lifestyle. This particular Porsche started life as a base model 1984 Porsche 911 "Turbo Look" M491. In 2003, the owner decided to give it a full overhaul and restomod to get a more RSR visual feel as technically there were no official RSR street-legal model made. The project was handed to Rothsport Racing based in Oregon, which took on the project with gusto. The car was stripped down to the bare minimum and built from bottom up. Constructed body panels, lighter hoods and the "duck tail" made by hand and custom FUCHS wheels. The body was painted first in rosso corso and then overpainted with the silver metallic. You can still see the red on the central brand and side stripes. Yellow-tinted vintage feel xenon headlamps completed the outer visual look.

The engine was replaced with 3.8l Flat 6 taken directly from a 993 Cup. The car features completely modified intakes and exhausts. The 5-speed gear box is also remade to allow shorter shifts Interior was reimagined to almost classic proportions. The seats feature a body matching colour combination, with the same motif along the front dash. All in all, the real model is a real treat for Porsche enthusiasts. Solido Models released this in 1:18 goodness. Opening doors enable you to take a closer look at the detailed interior. This retails for around €50.00 approximately with retailers. If you hurry, you can grab one before its all taken.

When Dom & Brian decide to take it for a spin from one skyscraper to another in the lofty heights of Dubai, in one of the most epic scenes from the entire movie franchise. Jada Toys does a spiffy job of this model with fully opening parts, a adjustable rear wing and accompanied by dapper looking Dominic Toretto figure to play out your ultimate furious fantasies.

FAST & FURIOUS

One of the most iconic cars in the series, this is also THE car to be associated with the character of Brian. Forever known as the 10-second car, this is a must-have for the fan of the franchise. The model is ready to pop out and bite ya! Comes with a Brian O'Conner figure that casually poses on the car is swagger.

As seen in

FURIOUS 7

This 2012 Nissan GT-R R35 is seen in one of the most explosive action scenes in the movie. It is also the only car to survive filming, which is ironic because it was blown up in the scene. Great GT-R model with all the opening bits and this time, it has Brian in looking all grim and wearing a tac vest.

The Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat is 6.7l V8 churning out 707hp straight from the factory floor. And it has four doors, and a spacious boot for the groceries. Dodge has been hitting it out of ballpark with the release of its SRT versions, of both the Charger and the Challenger. These massive horse powered cars are changing how muscle cars are perceived within in the driving community.

Since its re-introduction in early 2005 (we remember those who decried a 4-door charger) it has gone from strength to strength in both style and power. The 7th gen Charger is not slacker on road or track, and with the Mopar faithful, it keeps on kicking butt and taking numbers. But as much as we love the full scale version, which let's be honest, not very many of us will ever be able to get our hands on them. But for 999 of us, we can get our hands on this finely crafted 1:18 scaled version from GT Spirit in gorgeous Tor Red.

GT Spirit has undertaken the task of recreating this monster in both shape and stance (its easier with resin models). Its visage is perfectly balanced and of course is sure to strike fear in the other models in your showcase.

The model has some weight to it and makes for a great addition to the collections of MOPAR, Muscle Car, American Model fans. The model is available for pre-order on www.gts-models.com.

The W126, which was in production from 1979 to 1991 in various form has been one of Mercedes Benz's most successful platform lines. And the S-Class (Sonderklasse, GER "Special Class") which sits at the top of food chain has set benchmarks the other brands continue to emulate to this very day.

The 560 SEL featured an impressive 6.0L V8 which in some models churned out 300bhp (not the most impressive by todays standards, but at that time could hurle this behemoth to about 250kmph in about 7secs. Now you are sitting there thinking that's nothing. Imagine a car that is almost 16ft in length, 6ft in width, weighing almost two tons running your Toyota down. It was also quite fuel efficient, and did about 17mpg (US). So it could chase you for awhile. This was a favourite car among the glitteratti, oligarchs and people with a penchant for getting somewhere fast and not being followed. Then the boys and girls at AMG was given this already impressive vehicle to take it to the next level. They did. How do you do that. By enhancing the engine, adding some unbelievable two-piece wheels that shreds tarmac and aero kits to make this cut through atmosphere like a hot knife through melted butter. Oh yes, and black it out so that it looks like the only car in the galaxy that Darth Vader will be driven around in. And yes, he can fit his 7ft frame quite comfortably in the back. Otto Mobile has recreated this spiffy model in all it's dark lord glory in Obsidian Black Metallic. Its hefty, and that glossy black paint is just wow. Also, the wheels roll. Yes, some of you want so much authenticity in your 1:18 models and wheels rolling is a bit part of it. But alas, opening parts to this bad boy, which is a good thing. The interior will remain spick and span for eons. That's if any of you take it out after the initial look see and then put it away securely and I am sure many of you will do it. They limited the production run to 2000 units and is available for around $150 in resellers around the world.

F40 FERRARI

GT SPIRIT REVIVES THE LEGEND

There are billions of people over the years who have paid homage to the F40 in words, songs, poems, pictures and it is never ending. To me the F40 was a constant daydream that was my supercar to own.

Sadly the real world doesn’t allow just everyone access to the finer things in life, owning a real F40 is out of the question. In fact owning some models of the F40 fall into the same ball park as impossible or never. But there are few exceptions and some of them exceptional, even.

No opening parts but the exterior construction and paint finish is delicious. The right number of coats give all the edges and curves a nice smooth line. Details are brilliant as an F40 fan I’m thrilled.

A car so iconic, all you need to see is just a tiny bit of it to know what it is. For me she will be FERRARI’S finest.

It really would be uncouth and gaudy to try and say anything more about this model. You’ve seen the pictures and you know GT Spirit quality. Right now one of the best F40’s you can get in 1/18.

"

Built with Passion and scarlet pride, you are more than four wheels or comfy ride. a prancing horse silver all aglow, low and sleek but never slow. no room for shopping but built for speed, other cars follow while the F40 leads. Ferrari in nature Ferrari by name, you make other sports cars just look so lame.

FOUR MU

YOU MUS GT SPIRIT MUSTANG SHELBY GT500 METTALIC BLUE

The world of diecast has gone Mustang Shelby GT500 crazy. Not that I’m complaining because you can get the car in all scales, different colors, different features, for a Mustang collector it’s raining stangs!!!

First thing you must know is that this, is not a comparison article in fact I encourage you to buy all the cars you see here. But 3 are similar except for the color and one is completely different. The unifying trait is that they all look beautiful and a collection of these would be a serious head turner in your home. Three of them drop from GT Spirit’s line. And one comes from Maisto

GT SPIRIT MUSTANG SHELBY GT500 GRABBER LIME

with praise and honors from the community. I was extremely curious to see what the fuss was all about. I also like the multi colors which look very joyous and loud almost festive while the car itself is a very brooding looking beast. The MAISTO model is a diecast version priced at an unbelievable price that ranges between USD 15 and USD 55 depending on where

you are in the world. These are average numbers as there are certain countries with seriously high taxes on things that are perceived as toys, in those places a little higher. But still the best value for money all around the world. The body casting is great with a very noticeable attention to detail, great stance on the

wheels that are low profile and a beautiful gloss black multi spoke. The wheels roll as well as they turn. Carbon fiber bits look realistic and the black plastic parts are painted in a matt black that makes the plastic look rich. And the lights oh my, they look into your soul, MAISTO has done a great job on making those look realistic.

GT SPIRIT MUSTANG SHELBY EXP500 ‘GREEN HORNET’

The bonnet opens to a black and silver highlighted engine. The engine detail is not perfect but, on the flipside, they haven’t been crude and just shoved in a cheap black plastic basic mold. Effort has been taken, to detail the engine stretching the limits of economic viability.

The interior is also pretty detailed in comparison to other similarly priced models. You will not get textured seatbelts with actual 3D printed belt buckles. But there is enough detail to make it livable enough to display it, with door open occasionally.

GRAB BER LIME A few issues ago we did a full examination of the first GT 500 release from GT Spirit and our love for it has not subsided. And it would be a waste of time to repeat how wonderful this model is. So check out our backdated issue for a full review.

The color is equally striking and it’s is called Lime Grabber Green, it reminded me of the color of some popsicles I used to eat as a kid dreaming about cruising around in a much older much clunkier Mustang. Should have saved that money might have been able to buy the newer one.

As a quickie review, this car has a well detailed interior to the point you feel you can put your hand in and adjust the climate control. Sadly, it is a resin model and cannot be opened. However the body details are sharper than sharp and it looks stunning.

OTTO MOBILE RENAULT CLIO V6 PHASE 2

Jeremy Clarkson, one of the leading authorities on motor vehicles in the world mentions a car among his top 10, you know you have a extraordinary model on your hands. After all, Jezza knows his cars...

Bigger and wider than the tamer brother, this sported an engine that could let loose some serious hrsprs, 255 to be precise and reach a whopping 240kmph when thoroughly pushed. It was an enigmatic car, developed in Sweden and hand-built in France by the Renault Sport division.

The Renault Clio V6 Phase 2 first saw production in 2003 and quickly gained ground as a hot hatch with some serious on-road3 chops.

Otto Mobile presents this icon in Gris (Grey) Titanium. Only 2000 pieces are made of this model and is available for around €70 through resellers.

The model stemmed from an idea to pay homage to the famous (or infamous) Renault 5 Turbo rally car that used to thrash the bigger kids in those grueling races.

ALEX ALBON CASTHEADS COUTURE

PUMASPEEDCATPRO

He is a fast boy but he really has to pick up his socks and get that racer mentality, Alex Albon is one of the nicest guys in Formula 1 and its starting to hurt him. That is our rant for Alex Albon in Formula 1. However, in fashion we would definitely want to get our paws on a pair of PUMA SPEEDCATS similar to ones ALEX ALBON wears when he’s not winning races. Apart from the fact that they look really suave these shoes are fireproof great if you live in a home where fire walking is practiced regularly. They are lightweight and cool temperature wise and they are able to be like that through some really amazing technology that justifies the price. They also have a carbon fiber reinforced heel guard to ease the pressure of having to brake regularly in traffic. These are real driving shoes, and we don’t know how but every time you put on a pair of speed cats you want to go fast.

You want to pump your breaks hard through the corners and then switch to stomping on the gas to burn out of the APEX. The way the shoes wraps around the foot like a python’s mouth giving the wearer immense confidence to go faster. Give someone that experience this season.

ADVENT CALENDARS FOR MODEL CAR FANS THIS SEASON

For those of you who are new to the concept of Advent Calendars they are essentially a daily activity that culminates into a special day like a countdown you have to work for. In this case it’s a count down to Christmas. FRANZIS maybe a name you are not so familiar with, but you should, Especially if you and your children have a serious car culture head.

The end result of this (countdown) calendar is a beautiful 1/43 scale model mounted on a base with a built-in sound module that plays the sound of the car starting and accelerating away. But the journey to the end is a fun trip with lots of little Knick knacks to play and fiddle with along the way. This was our first experience with Advent Calendars, and we would like to

give a huge shout out to FRANZIS for sending these over to us!

FOR MODEL CAR FANS THIS SEASON

The presentation is amazing, it really excites the user from the start. Our first piece of advice is to be careful when opening your package without damaging the box. The cover is actually a sleeve and you will need to slip the box out. Do this on a flat surface because in the box is a booklet about the feature car and 25 oddly shaped boxes that make up a picture. If you’re not careful the boxes can all fall out and that can be a pain. (take a picture as you open the box for reference) The main holding box acts as frame for the smaller boxes which make up a picture and under the main box is a fold out stand which props up the main box as a picture frame. The smaller boxes are numbered so that you know the progression of the build.

Wheels, chassis, windows and all the other plasticky bits

Free ticket to a motor car museum. Good if you live in Germany. Not so great for international collectors

Diorama Backgrounds for the base. Two pieces, scenic route and race track

Electronics to be messed with. lots of plugging and screwing to be done.

They are also, printed on both sides, so if you get tired of one picture you an always switch to the other one flipping the boxes. The idea is to open one box a day for 25 days leading up to Christmas. Our suggestion would be to get a few ones so that you have about 5 boxes a day to open up. Then by the time Christmas day comes along you have 5 new models you can either keep or give away saying that hand built these presents with love knowing fully well all the fun you had doing it. On the first day understandably you get the base, that’s the biggest box done. After that in subsequent boxes you get various electronic parts to build the sound unit, then you get things to adorn your base with things like interchangeable backdrops and props. There are little gifts like post-

Car body and base the two most essntial parts of this display

it pads, bookmark magnets and free tickets. Again, all dispensed daily. Our favorite feature were the little storage boxes that came as a fold out that you could put together and they were used to hold the screws. This is definitely the easiest and most chilled build up project you can ever do.

Post-it-notes and really cool magnetic book marks are among the things that await you

Friends would be like what did you do over the holidays and you will say authoritatively to them “I built a car model with an interactive audio sample base” and they will imagine you in a Dexter type lab but the reality was, fishing a screw out of a Pringles can on the couch while watching Knight Rider re-runs.

Back to the box, don’t damage it. Once again it acts as frame. Each model has their own style of pictures which is a few different ones would nice. For example, the Mercedes box was a picture of all the latest AMG’s posing but in the Porsche box it was all close ups of Porsche race car numbers which acts as the progression numbers, really clever. Some of the gifts also differ slightly, some will have an extra gift which is cool. Some will have stickers for the cars if you like to give the models a race vibe. Again, an extremely exciting and complete package that is ideal to give someone as an early present or something to do with the kids during the Christmas holidays.

Don’t forget to visit FRANZIS on their webpage to check out other insanely cool serious build ups you can enjoy by yourself or with the kids making a variety of things. But the car culture stuff is out of this world amazing.

JUNKERS J “AMICALE JEAN-BAPTISTE SALIS” The Amicale Jean Baptiste Salis is an organization tasked with the preservation of the history of flight both human and machine. The organization has been around for a long time and after various changes in name and ethos it is now the AJBS and they take their work very seriously.

Which is kind of ironic with this model that is painted in the same paint and finish as the real car which is why it’s

Ju52/3m In 1990, the AJBS went to England to pick up a junker that was sitting in such a derelict state that there were concerns as to whether it would be possible to get parts to revive this old bird. After careful research and documentation the a team began the long task of restoring this plane back to its original condition. The level of detail that was taken was so acute to give an example, the two pilot watches on the plane we researched and took 4 years to assemble authentic replacements. In total the renovation took 13 years, 20,000 hours of volunteer work and 5000 liters of paint stripper. That’s what the card should say to the person who gets this beautiful replica by Schuco at 1:87 scale. This is an exact replica with wonderful little details, like the pilots in the cockpit keeping time. The propellers turn (the equivalent of wheels rolling) and the model comes with a beautiful desk stand displaying the plan in flight! This is a gorgeous gift!
