MORE GREATS FROM MINI GT

ASTON MARTIN F1

Thanks to brands like MINI GT the past is truly in the past when it comes to acquiring Formula 1 Cars in 1/64 scale. MINI GT Has been responsible for the drop of RED BULL in 1/64 as well as some classic Formula 1 cars such as the famous JPS Lotus and ELF Tyrell. Recently the have acquired the licence to do Aston Martin and they haven’t wasted any time in making full use of the license in any way. But Life is not all about James Bond! For the FORMULA 1 fans we have the ASTONS in 1/64 and seeing as MINI GT are the only ones doing it in 1/64 there will be a mad rush on these.

CARBON JAG C-X75

Love Carbon-Covered cars? Here’s another one to add to the collection. There are so many of these that it could become a subculture in the hobby world. So, marry this new trending textured look with the latest casting of the Jaguar C-X75 and MINI GT, and you have yet another winning combination that would probably wipe the floor with the competition.

Remember, this is not the only JAGUAR C-X75 released by MINI GT. If you like this casting, you have the option of finding it in different colours and, of course, gorgeous finishes.

TLVN AXIA Skyline 1992 late model

At the start of the JTCC 1992 season, the R32 Skyline was not just dominating the season, it was whipping up every emotion possible with 29 wins out of 29 races, a winning—an incredible car with an astonishing history. A few months ago, TLVN released this car in the SILVER livery, which it was wearing at the start of the season. This month, they release the same casting in the livery it wore at the latter end of the season. It looks insane! For those of you who already have the silver version, you will want this to match.

Remember, this casting is the exact car that was racing, with a wider body and bigger wheels, very different from the regular R32 in their lineup.

DIECASTING DISPATCH

Designed by Adrian Newey, driven by World Champion Max Verstappen, built by you! Experience the thrill and excitement of building your own 1/8 scale version of one the most legendary cars to grace automotive history. Dominant is the only word that can be used to describe this car’s performance on the racetrack and through the season giving it’s driver a World Champion Title.

For those of you who are new to the subscription model this is a great way to buy in instalments and build in parts. Every month you pay a subscription fee and every month you get a stage pf the car to complete. All the parts are pre-painted and most of them die-cast which means your end result will be a gorgeous replication of this famous Formula 1 car. Steerable rubber wheels, detailed engine, rear wing with DRS movement is just a few of the fun features you get to play with when you sign up TODAY AND WE GUARANTEE YOUR FANDOM HAPPINESS!

Another racing legend in the form of NASCAR. One of the most prolific cars that raced in the 90’s was the Chevy Monte Carlo, up against the FORD TAURUS and Thunderbird. Re-live the loud livery and unrefined aerodynamics of the NASCAR world. In terms of engineering and design a world apart from FORMULA 1. With this 1/8 scale build up from DeAgostini you can experience the joys of putting together one of these muscley beasts with accurate parts and replication of details.

Then there is the remote-control feature. We thought of ending it with that but that didn’t seem fair. So, the remote control allows you to turn on the lights of the car and activate the engine noise.

CLICK TO ORDER

WAIT, THAT’S NOT ALL! IF YOU ORDER THROUGH PAYPAL YOU CAN GET YOURSELF A FREE JEFF GORDON T-SHIRT AS WELL.

But wait, there’s more. If you order quickly, you can get quite a bit of Jeff Gordon memorabilia and merch as well.

Lightning Chase Car

ROUND2 1/24 GOODIES

Reviving their 1/24-line Johnny Lightning is dropping some mega cars, including SALEEN’s S7 and some AMG. This casting is available in two colours, and of course, for this article, we have chosen the black version. Do we see potential? Yes, we do do! It does look simply, but there is much a customiser can do, and these days, customisers have been getting into larger scales with more aftermarket parts becoming more available. But ifyou want to keep it in stock, you will have a lovely sleek AMG from the JL line.

AUTOWORLD CHEVY SILVERADO FLEETSIDE

YES!!!! This is truly an epic ride, and I want one like the sun comes up tomorrow. You want one too! So, get pre-ordering. This ’80s colour scheme is one of the best things to hit the Silverado, and many other brands have dropped this in larger scales with the same scheme. 1/64 it looks fantastic, as do the Fleetside add-ons like the Bull bar on the front, a popular truck accessory in the 80s and 90s. Chrome rims, roof lights and of course that lovely low ride. I cannot wait for this to come out, and I pray I get my hands on one of these beauties.

NEW DROPS COMING SOON FROM TARMAC WORKS

New pre-order cars are up, and there are 3 cars from Tarmac Works that I personally would like to fill my shelves this September.

PORSCHE

959

One of the supercar trifectas of the 90s. A combination of Porsche’s ability to scare the pants off its customers and have them come back to the showroom crying with wet pants. Fortunately, with Tarmac Works, the crying happens before the purchase of the car, so you still have time to save yourself from buyer's remorse.

The pre-order pictures look good, and I’m going to assume nothing more will be done on the casting except wait for pre-orders to start production. So here is me clicking on the ‘WTF DO I SELL TO BUY THIS BUTTON’

LBWK CHALLENGER SRT PORSCHE CAYMAN GT4S

No, I don’t need it. But I want it! I want it bad, and this is coming from someone who would typically squander his money happily on something else over an LBWK Challenger. However, I am a sucker for packaging and lovely paint jobs and this release is tickling my fancy big time. I have always liked the container storage, and this one looks particularly gnarly. I have never been to Japan, so I don’t know if these containers with this art exist, but I want them to exist in my home, so it’s off to the blood bank for me to see if I can give away another pint.

I don’t know if I should get another Porsche, but I am also strangely attracted to this version of blue, in which I have many other cars with similar tones. For me personally, sometimes the colour or art on the car is what drives me to pick a certain piece for the collection. In this case, it may be completely unnecessary, but it looks stunning, and maybe I should just get it. To be continued.

MINT GREEN
HELLCAT

Whatever said and done though collectors think HOTWHEELS isn’t listening they could be further from the truth. In fact, the last 12 months have shown us how ready and active Hotwheels is to meet the competition head on and to date no ones seems to be making a significant dent into their super power market share.

One thing that has always been a mild level complaint amongst collectors is that HW isn’t 1/64 true scale. Now, this sounds like you need to have a caliper ruler to be a collector which is not true. But there are some who like to have consistency and this true 1/64 scale business has remained a sour point until now.

apart from the stunning casting, real plastic dyed lights, deep dish BBS rims, ADVAN branding etc. It is a true scale 1/64! This has been one of the main talking points amongst the collectors. To be fair it was easier to shoot this casting with other high-end castings, like MINI GT and INNO 64 because it was more in line size wise with the others. This is a big leap for HW to adjust the tooling size to be more competitive in the outcome. The other smart move was opening a UK RLC Club site to relieve the pressure of the US one.

This has resulted in the UK and European market having more equal opportunities to order and receive in a well timely manner. The casting itself sticks up for the HW Elite status and is a stark upmarket difference compared to other HOT WHEELS Elite Porsche’s in the past.

More TINY X SPARK = SPARKY surprises that keep our shelves looking like a Motorsport Museum.

The PORSCHE Dauer is a symbol of how evolutionary PORSCHE is in terms of engineering. In terms of aesthetics, it’s simplicity is its beauty. You can dress this car in any colour, shade or texture finish and it will still end up stunning.

However, TINY and Spark like to keep it simple and engage in a style more synonymous with players and class, and stuck close to the colours that deserve a cruise around the coast of Monaco ending with a Valet Park outside the casino next to each other.

It also gives collectors and car lovers the chance to appreciate the lines and the shape of the car without loud distracting liveries. As far as owning variations go, we all know that all of us collectors are hoarders and the chances that we will keep buying the same car in all the colours available are very high.

It is Formula One season once again and as always it is drama from the get-go.

McLaren has wasted no time in establishing the fact that they are in it to win it this year. Red Bull is as unpredictable as a trapped moose in a convenience store and Lewis Hamilton is still trying to learn how to drive Italian. And that’s just the front runners. Likewise, the competition is heating up in the scale model world and Brands like Bburago and Solido are bringing collectors and fans awesomely priced models. And there are many other things you can get, to show your team loyalty and support.

Such is the way of Formula 1. If you thought getting canned end of season was hard try working for Red Bull, talk about a team hard up for canning things. But this year even though we get this insanely accurate and detailed 1/43 scale model from Bburago which has Carlos Sainz in a an SF24 Ferrari, he is currently driving for Williams in 2025. If you want to catch up on the drama you can watch ‘Drive to Survive’ on Netflix.

First thing I love about Bburago’s 1/43 scale F1 cars come in the acrylic case which means they are stackable and display easy without worrying about dust. These have tint extra bits that can easily get detached or loose with regular dusting. The second thing one must appreciate is the level of detail cars at this scale can get to in 1/43 thanks to modern tech allowing production to more intricate stamping on smaller more delicate parts.

For hardcore Formula One fans, you should know Bburago releases these models on a yearly basis so that you can wrack up quite the bill investing in a lifelong collection of F1 cars. But there is only one other brand that does F1 on this scale and is in the same price bracket, but they do not have Ferrari.

This is the RB20, and it will forever be known as the car that gave Max Verstappen his fourth World Championship title. To its credit, the car was undefeatable in 2024. Unfortunately, the new model is struggling this year.

Nevertheless, this stunning 1/43 model looks like a car Pierce Brosnon would step into, wearing a tuxedo and helmet. It's dark matt blue with the usual multitude of brandings, and even though the car is 1/43, there isn’t anything lacking in branding or bodywork.

Bburago also includes the drivers in the cockpit, so you get a glimpse of the driver’s helmet as well which is a nice addition to the casting.

2024 was a year the team ALPINE would love to forget. Plagued by unreliability and in fighting, the cars found themselves constantly out of points or out of race and the drivers at logger heads. It didn’t stop the team from producing a good-looking car with potential for 2025.

Sadly, the driver for this Esteban Ocon is no longer with the team and has moved to the Haas team where he can develop a sense for the sport instead of flat out competing with his teammate all the time.

Both Alpine and Haas still have a long way to go in sport before they can call themselves successful, but they do have fans, and those fans would be quite happy to snap quite a few of these brilliantly composed F1 cars. As long as they’re not driving them.

The MCL38, in the hands of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, gave the McLaren team a very longawaited constructors' win in 2024. This is a historic car that will go down in the history of racing as one of those cars that lept out of a bad starting season and went on to break the cycle.

Out of all the McLaren liveries we have had over the last three years, this one with the black and orange is by far my favourite color scheme. It is yet another wonderful casting from nose to DRS wing. I must also say that the carbon fibre elements, not just on this model but on all the other F1 cars as well, are truly spectacular.

If you're just getting into the thrill of Formula 1 but haven’t made up your mind about which team to support, then take your time. Just be sure to know that, regardless of the team you decide to support, there is an extensive range of collectibles available at decent prices.

There is something new from Bburago this year, and as Formula 1 fans, we are going berserk because this is quite the inclusion in the collector realm. For fans of displaying their models, you can now get some of your favourite team's car WITH a 1/24 figure of the driver in a victory pose, which you can also position on the car as well to give it that authentic winner arrival at the paddock.

Taking position for Ferrari, we have their No. 1 driver, Charles leClerc, who comes with arms stretched upward and is usually best seen in that pose while standing on the car. It is a rare pose as Ferrari seems to be stuck in the middle (again) of the pack for yet another season running. As massive fans of PUMA Motorsport and #castheadsWEARPUMA we were quite giddy to see the PUMA logo taking its place as a prominent piece of branding since it is one of the important brands associated with Formula 1.

With a little extra painting you can do the SPEEDCAT’S as well.

With their range of Formula cars starting from 1/43 scale with three different quality and price points all the way up to 1/18, it’s no real surprise that the 1/24 scale cars are all on point in terms of detail, livery, display ability and in some cases, playability. They function as perfect replicas and beautifully at a price point that makes it affordable for the average working public like you and me.

SCUDERIA FERRARI

For collectors and fans alike, the choice is going to be hard. Just as the Ferrari with Charles’s figure is cool, so is the McLaren with Lando Norris. Fist pumping the air with his signature 2024 helmet in that deep Papaya orange, this is another addition to an already good-looking car that has been faithfully recreated once again to fit the standards of the diehard fan on a budget BUT on the other hand none of the higher priced brands have shelled out for an accompanying driver figure!

Also, is it ‘Papaya Orange’ or just ‘Papaya’ the colour? As part of our scientific test (and breakfast), we matched the colour to an actual papaya, and the dark hue of the McLaren colour was more papaya than orange.

This looks like a really winning idea from Bburago, if you will excuse the pun. But seriously, they should do a victory lap for this idea. These should burn out off the shelves, and we sincerely hope that we can get more of these figures and more 1/24-scale F1 cars because Bburago have released Team Red Bull, Team Mercedes, Team McLaren and Team Ferrari to make us go broke.

Well, not really Hamilton, but his car from the 2023 Season. Bburago have a few different versions of cars in terms of price points, and this one comes in a tiny but extra because it comes with an Acrylic Display case. What Bburago seem to have done is, with this year's releases, the acrylic case has been swallowed up by the production cost of the Victory figures. Which we think is a far better idea because the figures make the cars look more dynamic when on display.

since Formula One’s licensing team is one of the most well-armed small nations in the world, most brands that pay their licensing tithe make sure the products are up to standard or face the wrath of Formula One’s Quality Control.

This is a very good display piece as it sits nice and low in the case, and the actual casting detail is very good and well-painted.

For starters, Zhou Guanyu, or at least he was, now he wears the reds in reserve, but even though the Sauber team have yet to count a win in the recent past, they do set the standard for being the loudest livery since Benetton Racing cars. Sponsored by Kick and Stake, it’s hard to miss this combination of bright green and glossy black pumping through the corners in between the third or fourth quarter of the field. Not the easiest team to support in terms of their placement in Championship Points.

But from a collector's standpoint, this adds a little colour to the Formula 1 collection. Remarkable detail should help you scale up your idea of having a nice collection of Formula cars, especially if you're not fussed on who the team is but like the buzz that comes with being a part of the culture. Then you have come to the right place.

The car lacks no details at all, and in fact, though they are not successful as a team on track, the 1/18 scale model, I daresay, would be more successful because it looks so good. F1 cars are notoriously hard to do because of all the extras the car has to help with aerodynamics and channelling airflow, so getting this right in terms of scale modelling, SOLIDO have done an outstanding job.

Let’s cut a long story short and be really quick about this. SOLIDO does a lot of F1 cars in 1/18, and this year they have brought us the 2024 range of cars. In this case, ALPINE’s number 10, Pierre Gasly. Most of the fundamental differences between teams’ cars are something that can’t really be seen either visually or when the car is stationary. For those who are getting into F1 for the first time, we say that because some of the car’s parts flex in the wind when driving on track.

What you can experience with these models is the exciting liveries, which, when displayed together, make up a very impressive lineup of colourful motorsport cars. From wheel trim to the smallest Castrol sticker on the rear of the side mirrors, the detail is SOLIDO standard. And we can say this because they have been very consistent in improving their quality. For the price, you are looking at a great deal in every way.

IN TERMS OF TEAM STANDINGS, LET’S SEE IF 2025 WITH FLAVIO BRIATORE ADVISING THE TEAM THEY WILL HAVE A BETTER SEASON THAN 2024.

Snatching the constructors away from Ferrari at the last minute, giving RED BULL a run for their money and keeping Mercedes very much on their toes was McLaren's 2024 season. Lando Norris, pushed by his ultra-competitive teammate Oscar Piastri, demonstrated an admirable sense of determination and mature will to give the entire team a victory that was much-awaited.

FIRED BY THEIR 2024 SUCCESS, MCLAREN HAS COME BACK TO F1 IN 2025 LIKE A BALLISTIC MISSILE AND HAS GOT EVERYONE ON THE TROT TO KEEP UP. RIGHT NOW, THEIR ONLY COMPETITION IS EACH OTHER.

The MCL38 replica from SOLIDO is the perfect example to tie up the statement or compliment about the fact that they, like Lando Norris and the team, McLaren, have found that consistently working to improve, starts to show in the final output. Born Ferrari fans, we have started to show McLaren more than a little love this season, and a lot of it was down to how good this model looks in these colours.

1/2

This mind-blowing addition from HC models will be the best accompaniment to your new SOLIDO McLaren model. There is a 1 / 2 scale steering wheel licensed by both McLaren and Formula 1, AND it costs UNDER 100 Euros. This sort of pricing for this sort of product has never been seen before, and I think this should be sold out all over the world, and demand should go higher because we definitely want more like this without the awful price tag that more upmarket brands would charge. The only downside is the model is a completely fixed unit and doesn’t allow you to twitch the switch or turn the knobs and/or turn into an adult fidget gadget which would be nice.

It can’t technically be called a steering wheel because it ceased to be a wheel shape decades ago in Formula 1. But moving on, this is a really awesome Formula 1 collectable, and honestly, we think there should be more of these on the release.

If there are two things I think Formula 1 needs in terms of merchandising, they are more Helmets, better prices, and more steering wheel models, especially since a) they have changed drastically over the decades and b) different seasons and drivers have different steering wheels. I personally would love to have Ayrton Senna’s championship steering wheels on display.

HC Models seems to have crossed that bridge with both heavy style and panache.

This isn’t a cheap replica of the wheel. It’s a very good and highly detailed replica, giving collectors and fans a close-up view of the steering component and the complicated usage drivers must manage during a race.

I must also comment on how neat and nice everything is on the component with rubber handles flowing into carbon fibre. The carbon fibre isn’t real, because at that amount, the price of this steering wheel would reach enormous levels. However, it looks absolutely real, and the coating has been applied exceptionally well. In terms of size, it’s about the same size and weight as an XBOX controller, but comes with a very cool acrylic stand that allows you to slot the wheel in.

This is a fantastic piece and if there was one addition I would like to make to the whole package it would be a nice poster of the steering device that explains all the switches and knobs on the device itself. But thank you, HC Models, this is a great idea, and we need more!

Motorsport is one of the biggest carbon-unfriendly sports in the world, but it is also one of the most proactive in terms of looking for alternative solutions. Formula 1 already uses a combination of electrics and biofuel; an entire section of electrified motorsport categories exists, from endurance to Formula racing. It is no surprise that RALLY cars are now turning hybrid and getting more and more electrified

This gorgeous FORD PUMA Rally 1 raced in 2022 alongside the rest of the M-SPORT team in the hands of highly seasoned M-SPORT RACING drivers Serderidis /Miclotte, bringing the car home in 7th place. What’s quite cool is that SOLIDO have a great license deal with FORD, so you can collect many of their rally cars in 1/18, and I’m pretty sure we will be seeing more lined up for the future.

As you can see, SOLIDO is increasing its quality in leaps and bounds. Many of the intricate parts you would find on a rally car are replicated on this quite well, including the crazy graphics, which makes collecting rally cars so much fun. We know many famous liveries that originated from Rallye.

IN FACT, ONE OF M-SPORT’S BIGGEST SPONSORS IS RED BULL, AND SOILIDO HAS ALREADY RELEASED THE FORD FOCUS RALLYE WITH THE RED BULL LIVERY.

OTTOMOBILE has always made stunning Subarus and rally cars. They are highly detailed, right down to the correct number of radio antennae the car should have on the hood. The S6 is an absolute firecracker and the team sister car to Colin McRae's Subaru. Unfortunately, though it had a few under-the-hood upgrades and did outpace Colin McRae in a couple of races, it ultimately came second at the end of the season.

Yet it remains one of the nicest-looking Impreza’s. For example, the STi badge is in the centre of the front grille instead of the usual Subaru logo. The matt black Oz wheels cannot be ignored because they look so stunning.

The front and rear lights maintain the standard outer design, shape, and inner lens. They are ready and begging for a skilled customiser to install LED’s.

We are really glad to see that despite the changes to OTTO’s portfolio gravitating toward JDM and tuner cars, there is still some room for their usual rally and European car collectors, who form a large part of their existing fan base.

IN 1967, DAN GURNEY BUILT HIS OWN FORMULA 1 CAR, WHICH BECAME THE FIRST US-BUILT FORMULA 1 CAR TO DATE. CADILLAC MIGHT BREAK THAT RECORD. THE FULL STORY CAN BE READ IN OUR VOL06_ISSUE05.

However, we had to revisit it because this gorgeous scale model deserves more appreciation. Since we started bringing the models we come across to the judges of the Model Car Hall of Fame, we have had the opportunity to highlight some great models across all scales, and hopefully, you can add them to your collection as well.

This unique car was selected by us for the wonderful craftsmanship that has gone into creating this absolute beauty by hand. Automodello is known for such amazing pieces and has a large range of beautiful hand-crafted cars from 1/43 scale upwards.

AUTOMODELLO’S CARS ARE EXPENSIVE BUT NOT MEANT TO BE FLIPPED LIKE MOST MODERN SO-CALLED ‘COLLECTORS’ PREFER. THESE ARE CARS FOR COLLECTORS WHO LOVE AUTOMOTIVE CULTURE AND ENJOY ADMIRING THESE WORKS OF ART DAILY.

RACE LOGISTICS

The backbone of any motorsport team that travels to countries to compete will always be the logistics arm. At the end of the day, no one is going to get any racing done if the car isn’t there. So, of course, we had to look at the best logistics providers in terms of who has the best transport and out of two very likely candidates,

WE HAVE CHOSEN TOMICA LIMITED VINTAGE.

One of their newer releases is replicating the HINO PROFIA cab in gorgeous black supported, or should we say trailed, with a really lovely red trailer bed and detachable container, which is not, we repeat for maximum clarity, the container is NOT plastic. It is die-cast, it is very heavy, and it is NOT locked in place, so if improperly handled, you could end up having a really bad day.

Other than that, it is a 40-foot container scaled down to 1/64. 10-Wheeler, which is pretty cool. The container has opening back doors, so you could add more weight to it and make it more wretched to drop on your toes. Unfortunately, you can only look in from the outside and see how detailed the cab is, as there are no opening parts on the cab.

TOMICA’s LIMITED VINTAGE NEO line used to be the epitome of quality many years ago. The good news is that the quality has not changed. I have yet to open a TLVN and experience any quality issue. And even though TLVN is no longer the benchmark for detail, with new players in the market pushing the limits on 1/64, they are still the cool cats of the club, and that won’t change for a long time.

It seemed like the FORMULA 1 Constructors title was within their grasp for a while. Then, news of Lewis Hamilton joining the F1 team in the following season broke, and FERRARI went to LeMans to race after a long hiatus.

FERRARI MOTORSPORT is back with the final rivet fired straight in with a win and, honestly, dominating much of 2025’s endurance seasons so far as well. To fans, it's great to know they can still win races, especially important ones.

AND of course, FERRARI’s long-time partner in the scale model world, Bburago, has an exceptional version of the car, first in 1/18 and now in a more ‘tiny’ home-friendly size of 1/43 scale.

More great news…. It's brilliant. This is not Bburago’s first rodeo with the 499P. They already released this on 1/18, which we reviewed earlier, and now they have shrunk it down to a smaller scale with no opening parts. But you get the same detail as you do on the bigger version.

I love this for so many reasons.

1. The new hyper cars look cool.

2. This is the car that brought Le Mans glory back to the Ferrari garage.

3. It looks good in yellow as it does in red.

4. And it comes at a price that most collectors can afford to enjoy. In a way, it is a pity that Bburago doesn’t have a wider breadth with Hyper car licenses, because there is only one word,
